If you failed to create recovery discs, order them from Toshiba.

For an explanation of all this, see the section Recovering the Internal Storage Drive, which begins on p. 54 of the User's Guide. See p. 68 for how to restore from the recovery media.

Restoring the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media will replace the partition with the image of the hard disk and should fix the WiFi.

Did you create recovery disks when you got the computer, if yes use them.  If not, and if you live in the USA/Canada, call HP at this number 1-800-334-5144, and see if you can still get a set of recovery disks.  Otherwise the WorldWide site:

  • Windows XP restore discs & lost recovery partition

If I have two M series Thinkcentres having compatible machine types. Can I use a set of restore discs from the first Thinkcentre to factory install Windows XP onto a second Thinkcentre where the recovery partition and install drive became corrupted?
Also do Thinkcentre applications and utilities install under a retail copy of Windows XP (installed onto a Thinkcentre)?
e.g. Fingerprint reader software, Rescue and Recovery, Client Security, etc.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, if the model is the same (same first 4 digits) you can use the recovery discs on the second machine. You will load the disks, and then when that process is finished, you will select F11 at boot and then restore to factory state once the Windows Recovery loads.
No Thinkcentre specific applications will load with a retail copy of Windows. You will have to go to the Lenovo download pages and install the apps individually.

  • I can't clear recent history. It worked on 6.0 but on 6.0.2 I can't do this. Also my bookmarks are lost. How can I fix it? Old bookmark archives don't work. Error: Can't read data.

The day I updated my Firefox to version 6.0.2, I had some problems. The first time I want to clear recent history as "everything" Firefox cleared my all bookmarks and history page (Ctrl + H or Ctrl + Shift + H) but visited websites are still on address bar. They are on Firefox Menu > History section. Bookmarks are not important, how can we fix Clear Recent History function?
Troubleshooting Information is in Turkish, if it is not useful I can send that text in English. Please send an e-mail for this.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Lost recovery partition and thus windows 7

Through my own fault I lost the trcovery partition and thus my Windows & which came with my E325. Is there a way of getting it?

    Hi Praguer,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I’m sorry to hear that you are facing the issue with Windows recovery on ThinkPad E325.
Please try to perform the recovery from think vantage button in the system and follow onscreen instruction, if the think vantage button is not working then you have to purchase the recovery media.
However if it works then you can proceed with Think Vantage rescue and recovery.
Please click here to enter the link where you can get the steps for think vantage.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards.

  • Screwed up MBR and boot partition, can't fix it [SOLVED]

    Hi,
I have been defeated. Been trying to fix my computer the whole day and know I'm lost.
It's a long story, but my whole system got screwed when I tried installing windows on top of arch (I didn't get it to install, but I don't care anymore).
I was able to install GRUB2, I tried configuring it with grub.cfg , but when trying to boot it says it's missing kernel, boot partition has linux2.6, and I was using linux 3, I'm not really sure how to get the kernel I was using, should it be in my root partition? .
I'd like to get my system as it was before, I have root , var and home partitions and not sure how.
    Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
I was using Arch, I last updated a few days ago.
The kernel that's on the boot partition is from a debian live cd I had laying around.
It is not possible I have more than one boot partition. I have 1 hard drive, but plenty of free space.
Windows wanted to use the start of my disk, so I used gparted to move 20 gb free space at the beginning. Creating a partition in the beginning also caused all partitions numbers to move up (sda2->sda3), when I gave up on windows, I tried moving everything forward like it was before, but it didn't work. Then I remembered that when installing grub, installers check for other mount points, but that didn't work, and instead overwrote my boot partition. So know I've got a temporary debian system installed(sda9) and a boot partition that won't boot Arch.
This is my fdisk output: sda5 is arch sd6 var and sd7 home

  • Lost sound how can I fix it?

I seem to have losta ll sound on my IPad 2, is there a way to regain it? I have checked the volume controls but nothing seems to work?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Lost Remove Partition Recovery

Inside Recovery Manager Windows 7 starter, the recovery partition has been lost I did not unsderstand and I deleted it.How can I recover it, and get its back to my system? Please anyone help. Thank you!

The recovery partition can only be re-added by the computer manufacturer. I have not seen a recovery DVD that would re-create it for you. It is technically feasible to do it yourself but it would require you to acquire a duplicate system to yours. It may
just be easier to acquire the recovery DVD from the manufacturer so that you can recover in the future.

  • G500 Lost all partitions... :( Cannot install windows 8.1

    Hello,
I have lost recovery partition (frankly, all of the partitions...) and tried to install brand new Windows 8.1 from scratch. But the Installer stucks on the first screen - it wants drivers for storage/usb devices. I tried to download the drivers from the lenovo suport pages and there are only binary executables (no *.inf files inside the archive, only sth like setuprst.exe and so), so the installer still cannot find the drivers. I'm totally lost - can someone help me? Maybe you have image of the recovery partition, so I could get drivers from there...
    Greetings,
    Piotr

I did it. After fours hours and two hours on the phone with Apple support, I installed Windows 8.1 to my iMac. So, I just wanted to share it with you.
    System:
iMac 2013, 27" monitor, 1T fusion drive, wirless keyboard, magic mouse.
    Software:
    OS X 10.9
    Windows 8.1 full version 64bit
(I skipped some steps such as type in software key, choose language, etc.)
    1. For my last try, Instead of using Bootcamp assistant to setup partition for Windows, I used disk utility to create an 100G space for Windows with FAT file system and named it BOOTCAMP.
    2. Insert Windows CD into the USB super drive.
    3. Shutdown iMac.
    4. While press and hold the left "option" key, turn on iMac.
    5. Select CD/Windows icon to boot.
    6. Choose Custom installation
    7. Select the partition named BOOTCAMP (I am not sure why it is 200G; I assigned 100G. Well...)
    8. Format
And the rest is history. By the way, when Windows restarts during installation, make sure to press and hold the left "option" key to boot up Windows.
I do not know why but I am happy now. As a matter of fact, I am sending this message from Windows 8.1 running on my iMac.
    Good luck to you.

  • During recovery from recovery partition I get message "INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing

During recovery from recovery partition I get message:
INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 14.
Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.
Now I have a computer with a recovery partition and that's about it.
The C partition has been formatted by recovery and files have been copied but I can't get any further.
The computer is an nc6220 and the OS, if the recovery would work, is winXP pro.
    Anyone have any ideas ?

I assume you ran recovery from the hard drive?
    If so,
I would run a chkdsk on the recovery partition it may fix the sif file corruption.
You can do this from a XP boot cd using the command prompt, you just need to run it on the recovery partition instead of the C drive as explained in this article.
    http://kb.wisc.edu/helpdesk/page.php?id=5097
    if you use the
    map
command, it will list all the partitions and the drive letters
so the command might look something like this
    chkdsk /r D:
D: represents the recovery partition, which may be different than D:

  • How to recover deleted "Recovery Partition"

Ok so I apologize in advance if this story is a bit long, and horrifying (actually it's probably entertaining xD). I purchased the Lenovo y510p gaming laptop on back on July 14th 2014. I got the laptop, and it just didn't work for me. It didn't play the games I wanted it to, it had overheating issues, the keyboard had a really sharp edge making typing uncomfortable as well. After installing Sony Vegas and Avast, and just shifting some of my personal photos/music over, I made a backup of the laptop using the OneKey Recovery software. This backup was made to one of my 500GB external hard drives. So I then decided that I just didn't like the laptop, and it was time to return it. I called Newegg, and got my RMA all ready to go. Because I had lot of my personal files and programs, I decided the fastest way to delete everything would be to use the OneKey Recovery by Lenovo, and do a factory reset. At the time, I didn't think anything of this then simply putting the laptop back to exactly how I got it. I even booted it up after the factory reset, and it looked just like the first day I got it. Fast forward 2 weeks, and my RMA is denied from Newegg:   Your RMA (RMA Number: 60470880) return was received and sent to our Inspections Department for closer examination. 34-313-740 NB LENOVO IDEAPAD Y510P 59406636 RTSystem has been modified/altered original manufacturers operating system has been removed cannot access restore partition, this voids Newegg warranty. Unit cannot be accepted or resold as received.  So I was completely shocked as to how I had managed to delete the recovery partition, I didn't modify the OS in anyway, and I phoned Newegg to check what was going on. They confirmed that the tech people at the returns department could not reset the laptop properly, because the recovery partition had been deleted. So, the laptop is being shipped back to me this week, and my question was what on earth could I do to recover this "deleted recovery partition?"  If the OneKey Recovery still works, I don't see why it woudn't, then I can restore the backup that I made on my external hard drive from Day 1. That should bring back this alleged "recovery partition" that's been causing all hell to break loose lol. If however, I can't access that OneKey Recovery, I believe I'm in a huge pile of trouble. Newegg said that if I can manage to recovery that lost "recovery partition" then they will honor my RMA and refund my money.  At this point in time, I'm trying to salvage my situation, and think and act quickly as Newegg does have a 30day only return policy. I didn't do much with the laptop when I had it other than test a few games, so I honestly have NO IDEA how I could've deleted the recovery partition. But I'm not thinking of that anymore, and thinking ahead as to how I can recovery this deleted "recovery partition." Thanks for reading this horror story, and I really appreciate any responses.

Man I am overwhelmed by the amount of thoughtful and informative responses I'm receiving, thanks so much guys. @Rocky- They are shipping the laptop back to me this week, I should have it by Friday. The first thing I'll do is go into Disk management to see if the recovery drives are there. Tbh, I doubt Newegg would purposely rip me off, so I'm expecting the drives to be missing. If they're not however, I'm taking pictures and probably dancing because I'll be so happy haha. If the drives are NOT there, I'll see if I can load up OneKey Recovery, and restore my backup, and go from there. Also yes I'm sure I bought it from Newegg, no third parties. @neok- That's exactly what I was thinking! I did the OneKey Recovery, then packed the laptop up and sent it for shipping. Then I get a RMA denied and I was completely shocked. That made me wonder if you could only do the OneKey Recovery once maybe, but I contacted Lenovo and they gave me a letter, written, saying what the OneKey software does. I then forwarded this email to the supervisor at Newegg, but she told me that the fact of the matter is that the "recovery partition" is not accesible anymore, and they're not honoring my RMA unless I retreive it. They were very adament about this. Also thanks for those links, I did a few Google searches myself and those are generally what I found. The reoccuring theme in those cases seems to be people resizing their partitions. I did not do that, simply played a few games, didn't like the laptop, did a factory reest, and boom. That's all I did. If I'm unable to use OneKey Recovery when I get the laptop back this upcoming Friday, I'll consult with those links. Thanks! @Zoltan- Yeah honestly I want to be furious with Newegg, but then seeing as they're really quite strong on their grounds that I somehow deleted it, I'm trying to think back to what I did. However, I find it hard to believe that I would delete the recovery partition, even accidently, because I only had the laptop for a day, and all I was really doing was transferring my photos/music, and installing a few programs. My desperate last attempt to salvage my money will be calling Lenovo and requesting the recovery media, even if it costs $60 or up. The only problem with this is that they might take a while to ship the disc. I only have until around August 14th before Newegg's 30day return policy kicks in, although I spoke with the Newegg supervisor, and she granted me 1-2 days of grace. I could order the CD right now, before I even get the laptop shipped to me, but that's risky seeing as I might not need it at all, if I can still access the OneKey Recovery. The more I think about it though, if I explain my entire situation to Lenovo, they might send me a free CD which I could then order right now, saving me a few days, and serving as more of a precaution then anything. Thanks so much for the replies guys, last Friday was the most stressful day of my life, this RMA was denied, and then I thought about it all day at work. I think I could've been more aggressive with Newegg, but I have no real legal documentation to show them. I mean yes even if I did delete the recovery partition, which I didn't, but let's suppose I did. Deleting software is still not any means for flat out rejecting an RMA, and refusing to refund $1300. I just wish I had some sort of legal document to refer Newegg over to .

  • How do I install a Lion Recovery Partition

I recently installed a new Hard Drive in my Early 2011 Macbook Pro, and I was wondering if there was any way I could out the Lion Recovery Partion on it.
    Thanks In Advance

CCC Carbon Copy Cloner has a utility called "Disk Center" that is included with CCC that will create a Recovery Partition for you.  I understand that CCC is not free, but it does have a free 30 day trial.
The "Disk Center" in CCC Carbon Copy Cloner is not obvious or easy to find, unless you know where to look for it (in the Window menu pulldown)... it's easy to miss.  Once you find it in the CCC menu system, it is a quick (<5min) turnkey way to create a Recovery HD Partition on any disk, internal or external.
I  thought I should share this, since I burned several hours of pain-staking research and experimentation in search of how to create/re-create a "Recovery HD" Partition for my MacBook Retina Mavericks laptop.  My journey was varietal, including:
Successfully using a manual set of instructions with Terminal to execute a multi-step approach that worked ( http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install -drive.html )
As well as a utility from musings.slivertooth.us that worked for me as advertised.  Only problem is that while I appreciate and respect the great utility that guy created, my risk-averse nature prevents me from using a non-commercial utility to muck with the low-level details of my boot drive.  Great job, but I prefer CCC since it's backed by a commercial SW company.  Here's his great uility, as referenced in Apple discussion threads like this one:  ( http://musings.silvertooth.us/2012/03/restoring-a-lost-recovery-partition-in-lio n/ )
Therefore, I was relieved to discover that CCC has a utility specifically designed to do this for me.
FYI: How did I find myself in this position?  I lost my Recovery HD partition because I used Super Duper to Clone my HD/SSD, and subsequently restored my MacBook at one point.  Super Duper has worked awesomely well for me for several years.  It clones HDs/SSDs without a glitch, and makes them bootable automatically.  The only gap or lack of function I have discovered is that "Super Duper" does not Clone the "Recovery HD" Partition.  CCC Carbon Copy Cloner does.  So, while I like Super Duper, I'm switching to CCC Carbon Copy Cloner for my backups from now on.
Disclaimer: I don't work for CCC.  I'm just an I/T Professional that needed to figure out how to create/re-create a Recovery HD Partition...
