Lost Ringtones

My hard drive recently went bad and files were not recoverable. My most recent downloads were not backed up and some of them were my ringtones.
How can I get those ringtones back without having to purchase them again?
Thanks in advance for any help or guidance.
Wayne

Wayne Baimbridge2,
Electronic purchases of songs from iTunes are one-time purchases, and your responsibility to backup afterwards. Similar to if you bought a CD, and were in an auto accident, and the CD was not recoverable. The store would likely not replace the CD for you.
You can ask the iTunes Store to make an exception, but understand that when they do so they have to pay the distribution rights holder over again, just like the store would have to pay their distributor for the replacement CD.
That is not to say exceptions can't be made, or aren't, but there is nothing any user of this forum can do to make that exception, just recommend you contact the iTunes Store. As far as this forum is concerned, your question has been answered.
Alternatively, you could compare the cost of a data recovery service to recover your drive's contents to the cost of repurchasing the songs and ringtones. Repurchasing unless we are talking about a library in the 1000's of purchases songs would still probably be less expensive.
Hope this helps,
Nathan C.

  • Lost ringtone

i bought a ringtone on my iphone and can't find it. It asks for my password to confirm my login then once I type it, it dissapears and I check the phone and it's not there. I have done this two times and nothing.

I did a complete reinstall of iTunes 7.4.2 - that seems to have corrected the issue ! Seems as if the software update caused the glitch. The lost ringtone has reappeared. The iTunes support was helpful in that they were willing to credit me - although they suggested it was my fault not backing up ! The m4r was located but it was just not recognized by iTunes.
So for those experiencing difficulties - try a full reinstall of iTunes.

  • Lost ringtone after 5 update

I updated to 5 and my ringtone does not show up in the Settings/sounds/ringtones.   Went to iphone, doesn't show up on ringtone tab.  so I went to my previous purchases - I downloaded it again.  It shows up in my music library, but not on choices for ringtones.

You need to turn off synching through the iCloud and synch through iTunes to your Outlook of Address Book however this will still leave you with linked/duplicate contact cards in your phone and your favorites contacts in the phone as well as all caller id photos etc. will be linked to the old contacts.  In order to get rid of those contacts what I did was added the simple change to the contacts I synched from the computer (I added an exclamation point to the notes sections).  Then synch to your iPhone through iTunes not through the iCloud, then search your iPhone for the first contact name you have in your list.  You will see this will bring up 2 contacts for the same person.  Select either contact then hit the back button.  You will then be in the contact list but you will see in this work around there will be 2 contacts listed for everyone.  Select the contact card and then delete it that does not have the added change so you can tell what is new and old.  This will leave you with the new contact cards and remove the corrupted/lost contacts.  You will lastly need to turn on the iCloud synch and either leave or remove those changes you made (like my exclamation points) from your new contacts.  This is a pain in the tail but the only way I was able to completely fix the issue.
    Good luck!

I'm fairly certain that if you call customer service they will help you 're-obtain' your music (purchases). They have the best customer service out there. I refuse to believe that they would replace an iPhone that has literally one day left on it's year long warranty (with smiling faces no less) with one little scratch but refuse to help you with something so simple. I guess it's ultimately up to them. But it's because of the companies outstanding customer service that they even got my buisnes at all. I've been a life long 'P.C.' until this last computer purchase. Finally got an iMac. Anywho, I KNOW I'd call. What's the worst thing that could happen? You'd be in the position you're in now? Don't let the people here try to scare you into thinking you're screwed. Call.

  • Lost ringtone on upgrade

lost my purchased ringtones on upgrade? any advice?

Hey guys, I found a solution. I had the same problem, the sync will say "Determining apps to sync" in step 4 - 7 then suddenly just quits. So I did some research, apparently a lot of people have this problem, but everyone were just trying on their own PC, so I decided to try on my other laptop. My iPod synced perfectly with the other laptop so I knew it was the PC that was the problem, not my iPod. So basically it's just iTunes. I followed these steps to completely remove and reinstall iTunes on my PC and Viola! It syncs perfectly again!
Here's the link to the steps: http://www.imobie.com/support/completely-remove-and-reinstall-itunes.ht
Note: Before I did this, BeBuoi said to remove all the apps and resync, but that didn't work for me. So when I did all these steps, I had no apps in my iPod.
    Goodluck!

  • Iphone 6 lost ringtones

I have searched this and found numerous threads on this but none of the fixes highlighted in them worked for me.  In essence, I bought new ringtones and they installed and I set them as the default.  They showed up in iTunes and everything.
Then the phone reverted to the default ringtone and the ringtones I bought were no longer on the phone, they were in iTunes and when I tried to sync them they became greyed out.
So how do I fix this??  Very frustrating.

I didn't check against iTunes, but after upgrade to 8.1.1 I have lost my ringtones on the phone. When i went to store on phone they looked like not purchased. How should I proceed?
    PS
Of course ringotes bought by apple/itunes store

  • Lost Ringtone... again

I am at my wit's end.
I have two computers, a pc and a mac. I have the same iTunes account on both of them.
I purchased a ringtone directly from the iTunes on my iPhone. I first synced the iPhone with my pc and lost the ringtone. I read on the forums to unsync it, and that worked.
I then put some music onto the iPhone from my Macbook. I was careful to uncheck the box for syncing ringtones, but the ringtone was lost. Unsyncing, resyncing nothing has worked.
When I have it plugged into iTunes, the is no Tones tab under the iPhone. I can see Summary, Info, Apps, Music, Movies, Podcasts, Books, Photos, and "On This iPhone".
Under "On This iPhone", I can find Tones, and my ringtone is there, but it's greyed out. I read on a forum post to try deleting that greyed out ringtone, which worked for other people, but it can't be deleted out!!!
I really like the ringtone, and I want it back. I know it's only 1.29 but I refuse to repurchase it, because I don't want to pay Apple for ripping me off by consistently leaving this problem depsite numerous updates to iTunes!
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

have you solve this problem ? I also have the same problem and i didn't want to repurchase it because for the same reason as you but fortunately I found a way to solve it,all you have to do is update for the new itunes,if you already did, plug in your iphone and click the iphone button, after that there will be a tone tab, then you just click the tone tab and click the sync button and choose selected tone, then your ring tones will appear there and you can get back your ring tone without having to repurchase it ,I hope this will helps you....sorry for the bad english,im not a native english speaker...haha

  • Lost ringtones from upgrade

I recently did the new update and lost all my ringtones. They still show up in my itunes account, but every time I sync them they wont transfer. It shows them transfer, but are no where to be found on my iphone. Any one have any ideas, please help. Thank you, Nick

Yes, go to your 'iTunes Store' app on your iPhone or whatever device you lost them on, then go to the 'more' tab, and choose 'purchased', then find your ringtones that you wanted and redownload them, you won't need to repay for them.
    Hope this helps :)
    Happy hunting :)

And the second i had received was with code number so i was wondering if could solve soon.

    Hi David ,
If it is a retail version ,then you need to deactivate it and uninstall it as well from your old computer and then you can install it back on the new computer.
If it a subscription based software ,then you just need to deactivate it and you can operate the same on your new computer by entering in your credentials .

  • 2 Iphones, 1 Itunes lost ringtones

Both my wife and I have Iphones with our own itunes accounts. We have itunes on our PC and use this for our downloads etc.
The problem i have is that my wife has purchased 2 ringtones from Itunes (downloaded straight to phone) which worked fine until i Sync it to Itunes and then it disappeared off her phone and i can't find it anywhere on Itunes.
I have also purchased a ringtone but have just sync my phone to Itunes and it has also been taken off my phone but is in the 'Purchased' part of Itunes. I can't seem to copy it to my phone and if i try to play it on the PC it states the PC is not authorised and gives the iption to authorise it, which i do, and it then states that it is already authorised.
Any suggestions as to where i will be able to find the missing ringtones and how to copy them to the phones again

I am having the exact same problem. I have purchased around 12 ringtones or so, and my old computer crashed completely.
Since then, I am afraid to sync my iPhone to my new system due to the fact it states I will lose -all- ringtones / songs on the phone, which apparently I cant find a way to re-download through iTunes without purchasing a brand new copy of the file.

  • Third Party Application Called TuneUp Lost Ringtone Icons/Ability to Buy

Okay, I purchased and installed a third party application that is supposed to help iTunes get album art and other things. All was going well until i did their latest, greatest update and now I cannot see any Ringtones icons in the field that shows if ringtones are available in iTunes purchased songs. I still have my "purchased ringtones, but I don't have the ability to purchase anymore on songs that are eligible.
I've uninstalled TuneUp, reinstalled a fresh version of iTunes, but still not joy. How to I burn iTunes to the ground without losing my entire music library?

Right that is the point. I had a whole slew of eligible songs purchased from iTunes in my library that now are not available for purchase. For example I just purchased two songs that have the icon in the iTunes store. After I purchase them the icon in the "Bell" ringtone column is not showing for the songs that should be eligible. The only recent change I've made is this third part application. So I am thinking this has messed with my library somehow.
