Lost Sky Sport/BT Sport

I've lost both Sky And BT Sport.  This is after they've consistently been available without buffering for 10 months.  My download speed has dropped from 5.5 TO 3.6 mbps.  I've spent days onto the helpdesk, re-booted the router / vision box endless times, changed the ethernet port etc....all to no avail.  I'm still awaiting a call back, promised hours ago and am at my wits end as I'm paying for a service which isn't available.  Can anybody help?

Probably too late, but reading your original post it seems your BB speed is the issue. Dropping below 5mbps will give you problems streaming both BT and Sky Sports.

  • Lost Sky Sports, rang Help line, lost will to live...

Hello all.  Any mods listening?  Please help.  Along with others, found Sky Sports dead on me last night (see other thread).  Rang India, poor bloke tried to help but had to plough through his standard tests and while he was doing that the phone went dead (and no, no-one rang back).  So, I've tried the switch off- wait- restart-retune as recommended by the voice-over on the 0800 number, but still can't see Sky; I'm getting the Please Insert Viewing Card message again, just as before.  Two questions: 1. will this keep happening? 2. Just what was the problem that led to this happening? Oh yes, and a third: how come the nice man in India didn't know anything about it?

Thanks for reply.  The problem was the same as that described in other threads, including 'Sky Problems', if I remember the thread correctly.  The screen was giving me the same message as I got when first registering it- PLEASE INSERT CARD... etc.  When I did the switch-off/switch-on routine this morning, the box obviously downloaded a significant update.  What is so frustrating is having to guess what's happening.  There was obviously a serious and widespread problem; the message in the intro on the 0800 teccie help line said so.  Now it's sorted I'm still none the wiser and still don't know how likely it is to happen again.  The help guys cliamed not to know anything about any widespread problem and simply took me through their standard problem-solving routine (or rather, started to until the phone went dead).  It's a great shame that BT produces services and stuff that are worth having but simply hasn't got the hang of communicating with customers.  For example, why not put bulletins on known problems somewhere prominent on this web site?  Anyway, that's enough whingeing, until the next time.

  • Lost access to BT Sports Channels

    Hi,
I had BT Infinity and BT TV installed on Tuesday this week and after 24 hours the BT Sports channels became available. However this evening I have no access to the channels. Instead I get a message saying a problem with broadband is preventing access and it says I am offline. I do however have wireless broadband access on my PC (download speed shown to be 16.5 Mb). I have re-booted the Hub and Box but the problems remains.
My TV box is connected by powerline adaptors which I know BT cannot support as they have no control over your internal wiring but nevertheless all was working fine up to this evening so they clearly did work.
I have read that broadband speed is likely to fluctuate initially so am wondering if this could possibly be causing my problem. Would be grateful for any thoughts or ideas. (Unfortunately I don't have a long enough ethernet cable to test a wired connection at the moment).
    Thanks.

    Hi,
A little more info. This morning I rest my modem, hub and powerline adaptors and I can now receive the three BT Sports channels. When I tested my broadband download speed (to my PC) it was 27.8 Mbs whereas yhesterday (when I wasn't receiving the sports channels) it was 16.4 Mbs.
I appreciate the speed will be different to my TV box via the powerline adaptors but I assume it is also higher this morning than it was yesterday so is it possible the speed was too low yesterday to receive the sports channels?
    Any help appreciated!

  • Does BT Sport On Sky Auto Cancel?

I've been a subscriber through SKY since BT Sport started but have now changed to BT for my Fibre too. I remember when first signing up BT Sport was mentioned and i said something along the lines that i already had it through SKY (i relly can't remember the exact way it was worded).
Now obviously as i should now receive it for free through the app/PC i don't need it on SKY anymore and can save myself £16.50 a month, so will it automatically finish on SKY or is there something i need to do to cancel it? Thanks.

I would be proactive and cancel to make sure. Try. 0800 432 0025

  • Sky and bt broadband doesn't equal bt sport.

After seeing numerous by sport adverts but not taking a huge amount of notice finally the penny dropped that I potentially could get bt sport although I am a sky sports customer but a bt broadband customer.
I have been a bt customer for a fair amount f time and I feel mislead by the adverts advertising free bt vision if you have bb.
Failing to mention you must bind into another 12 month contract. When it's simply advertised free to bt broadband customers.
Am I missing something or is this seriously misleading.
I for one won't be renewing my bt contract come next year nor extend it for a further 12 months of poor internet quality and constant drop out.

Virtually all free products advertised by anyone have terms and conditions that apply.

  • Recording BT Sport

I moved over to BT from Sky for BT Sport. I am an avid UFC fan and was looking forward to your coverage. I am extremely disappointed to find out that I can not record the sport on my BT Youview box. I am not always able to stay up until the middle of the night to watch the UFC live so not being able to record renders my subscription useless.

Recording BT Sport on Youview will be available in the next month or two.

  • BT Sport not available on BT Youview

Hi After a couple of online chats, phone calls and email i'm none the wiser. I've recently switched from Sky to BT Youview, with Sky I had the BT Sports option in HD so paid an extra £3 a month on my BT Infinity subscription, this was fine until switching to BT TV. I thought that it would be a simple process of cancelling the Sky HD BT sport subscription and starting a new one with my new BT TV YouView subscription.
This has not happened as i've now been advised that I cannot receive BT sports on my YouView box as there is not the technology, apparently, at my exchange?
I currently have BT Infinity at around 38mbps and can watch bt sport on my laptop. I've used the ADSL checker that BT provide and the cabinet/exchange that my phone line uses is multicast enabled, so the technology not available sounds like I was being fobbed off. again. this is very frustrating.
It would just be nice to get a straight, honest answer.

    Hi Terenceyeah,
I am sorry to hear you are having difficulties in getting BT Sport on BT YouView. Please can you send me in your details using the "Contact The Mods" link found in my profile, I'll be able to take a look at this for you.

Did you get the BT Youview+ box sent to you directly by BT as part of a BT TV contact? If so then I would expect the BT Player to work once the box is set up and registered. If however you bought the box from elsewhere then the BT Player will not work out of the box as it is not part of the basic Youview service. You would need to order the BT Player service for retail boxes.
For BT Sport you need to order the BT Sport pack for BT TV. Again you need either a normal BT TV contract or a BT Player contract for a retail box. If you want to take up the free BT sport offer for BT Broadband customers then you have to commit to 12 months BT Broadband as part of the ordering process. So the BT Sport channels won't just work by simply plugging the box into a BT Broadband connection. You need an official BT Sport subscription (whether free or £12).

  • Does signing up for BT Sport change my existing In...

If I sign up for BT Sport, will it affect my current BT Infinity contract? The BT Infinity contract I have currently is due to expire in Jan '14.
I ask this as BT appear to have a habit of locking their customers into long contracts (e.g. 18 months) without them realising e.g. me,

"BT Sport - UK residential broadband customers only. BT broadband customers can watch BT Sport online at home with a minimum line speed of 400kbps. To watch BT Sport online elsewhere you need 3G/4G/wifi (charges may apply). To watch BT Sport at btsport.com you need Microsoft Silverlight. The BT Sport App works on iPhone (3GS and above), iPad (iOS 5.1.1 and above) & selected Android devices with OS 4.1. Max. 2 devices simultaneously. BT Sport is also available on BT TV for new and existing broadband customers who sign up for 12 months or have 12 months remaining on their contract; ongoing renewal needed to get discounted BT Sport. Sport on BT TV requires compatible box from BT - fee £49-£299 may apply. BT TV customers without BT Infinity will need to order & pay for a viewing card by phone from 1 Aug; allow ten days for delivery. e-billing required. BT Sport is free for new and existing customers. BT Broadband for new customers from £10 a month (plus line rental £15.45 a month). Terms apply."

  • TV Essential required to receive BT Sport?

    Hey there,
I've a YouView box that I bought from BT 12 months ago and pay £5pm for TV Essentials.  I don't use the TV essentials so was planning on dropping it after the 12 months.  My question is, if I drop the BT TV Essential package, will my YouView box continue recieving the BT Sport and Sport HD Packs?
    Thanks in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi 3eb
No it won't, I am afraid that you need BT Infinity and a BT TV package from BT in order to get BT Sport on Youview.

  • My Sky Broadband Experience

Hello Sky community, I live in the Buttevant, Cork area and our family recently switched from Vodafone to Sky. We got the Sky Hub today, and I hooked it up. Before I hooked the hub up, I did some speed tests on Vodafone, then on Sky. I'm quite happy with the result because it proves that Vodafone were bottlenecking the line for us. VODAFONE: (Average)Ping:  49msDownload: 4.66Mb/s (582.5kb/s)Upload: 0.40Mb/s (50kb/s) SKY: (Average)Ping : 43msDownload: 7.63Mb/s (953.75kb/s)Upload: 0.54Mb/s (67.5kb/s) I've heard about this line testing that lasts for about 10 days, so I'll keep this updated while it's going on. Hopefully it gets better! Thanks,Ryan (using my mum's account).

    Hi.
I've been a Telewest - now also Virgin Media customer for many years, and have been using their 10mb connection for over a year now ( are you aware that in May they're upping it to 20mb)
The speed of the connection is quite erratic, but for me has improved since xmas.
Here is a site that will check your speed, if you still have problems, call them up, and even though they're not very Mac friendly, insist that they come round and check it.

By the way, I called them when they lost Sky, and threatened to leave - they gave me a 20 quid/month discount - give it a go!

  • Copper multicasting - what is actually going on

Hi my area is due to be upgraded to FTTP later this year thanks to BDUK. I've just been checking the BT Wholesale checker and over the last 72 odd hours since i last checked COPPER MULTICASTING has appeared to be active on the cabinet. Now i understand FTTC/P multicasting for stuff such as SkySports and the extra Vision channels but what will ADSL multicasting allow me to do or is this for some future unannounced service? At present i have Youview from BT but ovbiously i cant have BT Sport or the extra channels due to lack of infinity.
    Thanks
    Ben

Don't forget that the BT Wholesale Checker is showing which services are available through BT Wholesale to all ISP's. It is up to individual ISP's whether or not they pay BT Wholesale for particular services and package them up for sale to customers. One such service is TV Connect.
This article from early 2013 mentioned that as well as the fibre multicast version BT Wholesale were looking at launching an ADSL2+ copper multicast version of TV Connect as well. See paragraph 4.
    http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/5800-bt-tv-connect-service-to-carry-live-tv-channels-over-wbc-net...
So I would guess that the Copper Multicast for your line means that, in conjunction with OpenReach, BT Wholesale have made that service available to ISP's in your local area. Whether or not BT Retail pay for it and offer it to customers is another matter.
As has already been mentioned, a limited number of BT Vision+ box customers have been receiving the live Sky Sports, BT Sport and ESPN channels in just SD over ADSL. I believe it was only done where multicasting had been set up by OpenReach and they certainly had to upgrade their BT Vision+ boxes to the multicast version of the software. Does that mean that BT Retail are already using the TV Connect ADSL multicast service? I don't know the answer to that as BT tend to keep these things close to their chest, but it does seem likely. Of course that wouldn't mean they have to use the same service for any BT Sport solution for BT Youview+ boxes on ADSL lines.
I receive fibre multicast channels over FTTC Infinity. The results for my line now includes the following.

  • Cant watch on catchup sony movie channel and true movies on skygo why

why is the sony movie channel not on sky go i have sky go but all the channels that are on sky you dont get some of the channels on skygo why is that like sony movie channel and truemovies1  truemovies2  TrueEntertainment TrueDrama theses are the channels i like but why are theses channes not on skygo i really wanna watch theses channels on catchup on skygo but why cant i watch theses channels on catchup i have sky Family with Sports & Movies HD and Sky Go Extra why dont i get theses channels on skygo on catchup

There are a lot of channels that are on Sky TV but that are not available on Sky go. I can only assume that it is because there is no agreement in place between Sky and the channel to include them on Sky Go.

  • Wanted to switch prividers but ended up with lots of issues

My contract is ending with Talktalk on 10/08 so i went on Sky Chat and ended up selecting the Sky Broadband unlimited package. I gave the person the order confirmation code then I was asked if i was interested in Sky movies or sports (I had recently been considering the sports) so I said maybe sports... I was offered it at £18 for 12 months and I could cancel anytime so I clicked on the link and it said £25.50 a month so I said on chat that its saying £25.50 but I was assured my bill would state sports would be £18 so now I have original bundle + sports. Happy customer.... went to check it out  and turns out sports are not in HD! Not happy! Went back on chat to Question why I wasnt made aware the sports are not in HD! I was told to call up... finally got through and I was told I had sky sports on my account for £25.50! the £18 offer ended on the 30th! Then I was told my bill was going to be jump from £21.50 to £72! Breaking that down.... £21.50 for bundle + £25.50 for sports and £15 for cancelling my oringinal budle... something again was not made clear to me when agreeing to adding sports! I'm not even sure where he got the £72 from as nothing seemed to add up. Anyone else been charged a fee when adding sports on to their package before?

    Hi,
Don't insert the recovery CD with HD disconnected  along with all other devices expect the monitor.  Now what are your results?  If the keyboard and mouse are still locked then try multiple USB 2 ports.   If the keyboard and mouse are still locked then unplug the CD drive.  If you still have the same issue then try a different keyboard and mouse. If you still have the same issue then remove the CMOS battery and test it.  You should read 3.3+v or better.
