Lost slideshow?

Hello,
I managed to delete a slideshow and then went on to re-save my project before I realized what I had done. Is there anyway that I can restore my project or find what I deleted? I'm supposed to have 40+ copies of this DVD by saturday. Edit Undo doesn't help because I re-saved the project. Is there anyone who can help me with this? Thanks...
About to lose my mind...

Are you using iDvd'08 and Leopard? Time Machine might help in this situation (assuming you have TM & you back up your mac using an ext. HD.)
I've read on this forum at least one person who was able to retrieve his former iDvd project file this way. Not sure if this helps much and I wish I could be more specific but I'm still working in Tiger and not the latest Mac OS. Good luck!

  • Lost slideshow capabilities in iphoto after upgrade. This is why I upgraded!!!!

I have spent hours updating my entire system so that it will support iLife 11. All system updates are in place and now that I'm here to make a slideshow, I've lost all capability to do so. I cannot select on the "themes, music or settings" icons. They are clickable, but not going anywhere. I have also lost the "toolbar" that used to appear on the image to adjust these settings. I need to make a slideshow for my daughter this week. If anyone has any insight on what I need to do, that would be great. I've already reinstalled to see if that would help. Is the source library on the left supposed to be greyed out? I saw that it was, just want to be sure. Any insight would be appreciated - if not, I'm off to the genius bar to see if one of the genius's can figure this out.

iPhoto has a new interface, but you can still start a New Slideshow from the File menu. Slideshow Thesemes, Music and Settings are displayed in the lower-right bar of the Slideshow window.

  • IPhoto crash, lost slideshows

Iphoto crashed - it just shut down - and I lost all the content in my slideshows.  Any idea how I can recover them?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens you library?  Describe or post screenshots.
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Photo - Lost Slideshow

Last import of photos and appeared in Photos (and still does). I made a slideshow and have opened it numerous times. Suddenly I go to view it again in Photos and it's gone! Other slideshows there but not the latest one.
Using latest 10.10.3 and latest updates on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

The following is a way to get a view of albums / iPhoto Events (which were converted to albums in the conversion):
Moments in Photo are the new Events, i.e. groupings of photos sorted by date taken.
When the iPhoto Library was first migrated to Photos there was a folder created in the sidebar titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events (which are now Moments) are represented by an album in that folder. To open the sidebar if it's not already open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
There's a way to simulate events in Photos and get a window of all albums like in the Events mode of iPhoto.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window.
The downside to the simulation is that the Album/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can also be sorted manually, either in the sidebar or in the folder's window at the right.
Ask Apple for more sorting options in Photos as well a replace the features of iPhoto that were removed via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.

  • Lost slideshow even after saving...

My wife and I are working on making a wedding DVD with our pictures. But when we saved our project the slide show that we had made was nowhere to be found when we came back to it. What gives? I've looked everywhere, and can't find the slideshow. Is there anyway to get it back?

the best way to save an iDVD6 project for later editing that also has a slideshow to it is to add a QT movie/content to the same iDVD project. Otherwise iDVD6 may assume you need to start a new project next time its launched..... hence a new canvas or slate to start with. Not sure if there's a checkbox in the preferences or not about saving/deleting the rendered files when you close the project. I'll have to check and post back later.
Here are ways to save your project:
To save your project, choose File > Save.
To save your project with a different name, choose File > Save As.
To archive your project, choose File > Archive Project.
To create a disc image, choose File > "Save as Disc Image." (I prefer this last approach).

    Hope this helps.

  • I have lost images but have them in a dvd slideshow. Is there anyway I can use the dvd to restore the individual images?

I have lost images from a slideshow I made.  Is thre anyway I can use the dvd project to restore those lost individual images?

If these are actually part of a QuickTime movie then the best you can do is try get screen grabs of them.

  • How come all descriptions in slideshow were lost after exporting to video?

Hi, I'm new to iPhoto 9. I'd made a slideshow & tried to export it in different ways, but not successful:
    1) when I exported it as a video, all photo descriptions in the slideshow were lost, only the music was kept.
    2) I'd also tried to export the slideshow diretly to either an external harddisk or iDisk. It kept saying that the disk space was not enough, even I'd removed many files to release some more space.
What can I do then? I'd like to share the slideshow with friends on PC or TV.
    Thanks!
    Fochan

In the slideshow mode in iPhoto click on the Setting button at the bottom and check the Show Captions checkbox and select Description in the menu. Did you do that?
Then click on the Export button at the bottom of iPhoto's window and select the size of movie you want to create.
That should get you the text in the slideshow to match what you see when you play it in iPhoto.
If you're not getting the text after following the above delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, empty the User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder, launch iPhoto and try again.,

  • I've suddenly lost the ability to run a slideshow

For some reason, I lost the ability to run a slide show when in the event view. It worked moments ago. I created a show, selected music saved and now it wont work for that event or any other.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. First try rebooting. If that doesn't help delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Lost iWeb Slideshow icons

I have updated the slideshow content of my iweb site and for some reason have lost the navigation (back|pause|next) icons that go with the slideshow. They have been replaced with the ubiquitous "?" icons. Is there a way to restore these icons?
    Thank you.

This is a result of MobileMe closing. The images were stored on the Apple server.
See this page for info about how to fix it...

Ask in the iDVD forum on what's the best way out of iPhoto and into iDVD.  The resident expert there, Bengt Wärleby, can give you the best option.

  • HT4710 When copy my IPhoto 7.1.5 Library on my desk computer and open it on my laptop w/IPhoto'09, many albums/slideshows are lost because of compulsory "upgrade." Help!

When copy my IPhoto 7.1.5 Library from my IMac and open it on my MacBookPro, which has IPhoto'09, many albums/slideshows are lost because IPhoto '09 insists that I click on 'upgrade' before it will open the 7.1.5 Library.   Help!

The library is damaged in some way.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Lost All Aperture Slideshow Themes

I lost all my Aperture slideshow themes after upgrading to iLife '11. At first everything worked fine and I was able to access the existing and new slideshow themes in Aperture from the new iPhoto '11 upgrade (as advertised). Then it all broke. Now I have no slideshow themes (or functionality) in either Aperture or in iPhoto for that matter. I'm not sure the exact moment that this all happened but just noticed it when trying to edit a few existing slideshows. The structure and music is all there but the slideshows are blank because there are no themes at all, just blank. I repaired permissions and checked file structures, did routine maintenance. Nothing works. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    Success!
I'm documenting this in case anyone else encounters the same problem. There are three files that can be found in HD>Library>Application Support. These files are: iLife, iLifeMediaBrowser, and iLifeSlideshow. They somehow got corrupted in the upgrade process to Aperture 3.1 and/or iLife '11. The thing is that trashing the corrupted files in hopes that a clean reinstall will rebuild them does NOT WORK. It simply makes shared media unavailable to any of the apps. I had to restore the files from Time Machine from a previous state.
This took an entire day of troubleshooting to figure out. I hope this helps avoid this for anyone else.

  • Slideshow lost exporting iphoto

My iphoto was exported to external harddrive. Now I lost all my slideshows(including music) Are they retrievable?

This happened to me too. I relocated my iPhoto library exactly as you described, except I haven't deleted the old library just yet. It sees photos ok, but slideshows just produce a black screen.
Do I have to do something in Terminal as other people have suggested?
It wouldn't really matter as I don't like slideshows that much but I can't seem to find another convenient way to see my pictures full-screen. There should be an option in Preferences to make double-clicking open photos in a separate window but that option isn't even there - it just offers opening in the edit window or another application. Is there a good quick way to be able to see my photos full-screen ... or will I have to have Preview open ... and if so, is there a keyboard shortcut to make them full-screen in that (ie avoiding always using the menu)?
    \Thanks
