Lost some contacts in Iphone 4

I lost some of the contacts in Iphone 4. I'm sure i haven't deleted anything, but i just can't find them. Any idea what could that be?

Depends on the type of contacts- if they are gmail or yahoo contacts make sure you haven't deleted your email account or changed your password because it is possible that these may no longer sync.
The same can be said if they are Facebook contacts.
Do you have iCloud turned on? Or recently turned off?

I have randomly lost some contacts on my iphone 5

This morning between leaving home and driving to work I have lost some contacts on my phone. How many I have lost I cannot be clear but I text my partner before I left for work and when I got to work her reply came through with just her number displayed. It no longer recognices her as a contact. When I look at other messsges it no longer recognises other poeple as contacts.
I have ramdomly lookef for other numbers in my contact list. Some still exist. Others do not...... HELP!!!

WWhat are you syncing your contacts with? A supported application on the computer or cloud service? They should still be there.

Iphone 4.2.1 upgrade ... lost some contact details!!!

After installing the new4.2.1 on my iphone 4 i lost details and numbers of many of my contacts!!! some contacts had 2 or 3 or 4 phone numbers etc... after the software update I lost those !!! it happened too on my daughter iphone 3G when i did the same update for her phone.. please can someone tell me what's happening??

I had the same problem. Time Machine proved invaluable here. I opened up Address Book, selected "All Contacts", started up TIme Machine via Spotlight, and scrolled back to the day before I ran the 4.2.1 updater. Bada bing, all contacts restored to the address book! Simply did an iPhone sync after that and all was well again.
Still, nasty bug Apple. :-|

Lost some contacts when syncing

I just got an iPhone 4 and i sync everything from my iPhone 3. The problem is that I had 70 contacts on my last iPhone and just 59 was syncing to the new iPhone. When I noticed that, I conected iPhone 3 again to transfer the other contacts to the computer, but it removed some contacts and now I have 59 on Both. Das anyone knows how to recover those contacts that I lost?

Welcome to the discussions,
if you have a backup of you 3G before you lost the contacts, you could restore from that one. But as every backup replaces the old one, it has to be an iphone backup included in your computer backup routine.

Are you using iCloud to sync Contacts to your iPhone? If not, do you have a backup on iTunes?
Could you try to explain the issue with more details please.

I lost some contact labels?

For some reason now I don't have the contact label "iPhone" or "other" -
I had some syncing issues, was syncing with google sync and then messed up and synced via itunes and some contacts got taken off my phone but got them back and all is well now. Just noticed one that caught my eye and realized it wasn't labeled iphone anymore. then another was missing the "other" #
I have found that in Google Contacts that if a duplicate label or one not on your iphone as available (seems iphone won't let you have 2 mobiles for example) it won't sync it. I've got one contact that I have two mobile #'s for in Google and it only syncs on on iphone...
How can I get labels back?

If you are in the US and they are TV shows then you should be able to re-download them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If they are films then they are a one-time only download - in which case have you got a backup on, for example, an external drive or CD / DVD that you can copy back onto your computer ? Or have you checked whether they are still on your computer, just not in iTunes ?

Lost all contacts on iphone 4

Last thursday my ihone 4 froze all of a sudden (i could not do anything, not even switch it off) for a good 10 min. It was as if it was downloading sthing on its own. When it stopped, ALL my contacts were gone. Everything else was still there, pics, mails, music..etc. Not one single contact left.
When i got back home i synced it right away to itunes, hoping it would restore all the backed up contacts but it did not. Was that THE mistake i should not have made??!! Did syncing the contact-less iphone erase all the backep up contacts from itunes??
I then tried to restore from a back up but itunes will only offer me the back up of my very last sync, (tried that and of course still 0 contact left) or some really old back up from 2011!!!
I do not understand anything, i was syncing my iphone on a very regular basis, totally convinced that was enough to back up anything new onto my computer, and feeling safe that no matter what happened everything was there. Why is itunes not offering my any backup from say a few weeks ago??
I am one of these people who are not really good with computers, i have asked many people around me for some help already and noone understands what happened or is able to help me in any way.

STEP 1: Go settings --> Icloud --> Turn Off the contacts button if it is green --> Chose keep on IPhone.
STEP 2: Go Settings --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> Slide down to contacts --> Default Account -- > chose on my Iphone.
This is how you can prevent such incidents in the future.
The only Risk is that you need to back up your phone continuously on your Desktop or Laptop so that in case you lose your phone, you can restore your info to another phone from your back up.
You can also back up your << Back up FIle >> from your Desktop or Laptop on an external USB. ( more secure also):

Hi I have about 300 contact in my nokia 6630, in some contact I renamed the Label ( For example: Mobile Home >> OLD )Now when I synchronize with Outlook with PS Sync This contact are lost !!!

When I first got my phone in January, no contact data would sync from the computer to the phone. I started adding in contacts to the phone. Then my husband updated our windows software to Windows XP and all of a sudden I had hundreds of email addresses in my contact list. It looks like the addresses came from Outlook Express, the email software I was using at the time. I stopped using OE because I would have double email (same email on phone and OE) and started going directly to sbcglobal/yahoo via the web to get my email. I don't use OE anymore. I also don't have any place on the computer that I update my contacts. I just put the contacts on my phone.

ICloud doesn't Sync, lost all contacts on iPhone

I have a PC, iPhone and iPad on which contacts, reminders and calendar are turned on in iCloud.
Everything used to work fine.
I missed a meeting on Thursday because it did not snych into me iPhone.
I noticed contact changes were not synching.
I turned of Contact Synching on the iPhone, selected keep contact on iPhone.
All contacts were erased on the iPhone.
Turned synch back on and nothing downloads to the iPhone
I checked iCloud on the web and the contacts are there.
Thoughts anyone?

Update: Powered iPhone off, back on and the contacts reappeared. Still not synching.

Lost some contacts in address book and iphone

i received a phone call on my iphone and noticed there was no name attached to the number. i looked on my phone and right before my eyes the names that were attached to my favorites turned to numbers. i checked my contacts and my list of about 100 was now down to eight. I check my address book on my mac and it was down to eight as well. I don't know what I am looking for in my time machine back up. my old time machine died in december so I only have a month of backups. I look at the oldest backup of the metadata folder and it shows 8 files. i know i had my contacts after my last iphone sync yesterday but i don't know what happened today...someone please help.

The is an option in iTunes preferences to alert you if more that X% of your data will be modified on your computer. I would suggest activating that.
There is no way to recover the lost data that I know of.

Help! Lost Some Contacts!

I had an original iPhone that was stolen several weeks before the new iPhone 3G shipped but it was backed up to my Windows computer with iTunes. I purchased the new iPhone 3G and have been using it since I got it without attaching it to my computer.
When I attached it today, I was asked if I wanted to restore the data from my Original iPhone. I said yes, thinking that it would simply add to anything existing I currently had on the new iPhone. Needless to say, my contacts, etc. from my old iPhone were restored but all my my new contact information that I had on the iPhone were replaced. I never was asked about replacing or anything.
This seems like a stupid design or flaw in the software. Does anyone know a way to recover any of the contacts that were on the new iPhone 3G that were replaced???
Is there somewhere in iTunes I can tell it to never overwrite without prompting first??

Use your back up on your mac/PC and re-add your contacts to Address Book or whatever contact software you use.

How did you perform the update? Were there any errors? Did it ask you if you wanted to take a backup first? If you said no, then that was a mistake indeed...
Have you used the free BB Protect app? If so, your data should be backed up there (assuming you configured that) and you can now use it to restore.
Did you ever connect to your PC and perform a backup using the RIM Desktop Software? If so, there will be IPD files (*.IPD) that you can use as the source for restore.

Upgraded my phone and lost some contacts
