Lost some fonts

Hi, My hard drive recently died. I've replaced it and re-installed all my apps and files but one of my favourite fonts is gone. The font is "sand". I can't find it anywhere. I've googled it and found it is an Apple font, yet I can't find it. Anyone have any ideas ? I did find some fonts online with the name sand, but they look different, like a dirty typewriter, the sand I want looks like printing drawn in the sand with a stick. I have some saved files that need it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Kappy, thanks for your reply. I had looked on the install DVD but could not find it, but after you wrote I looked again and found out "sand' is an OS9 font. So I got it from the files on my OS9 install package.

Upgraded and lost some fonts--restore?

I created an InDesign File when I had CS2 installed years ago, and since then I've rebuilt my computer and installed CS4. When I opened that old InDesign File, I got lots of missing font warnings. So I take it that a bunch of fonts that came with CS2 are not in CS4 (although "Helvetica" is one of the missing fonts, which seems very odd indeed).
How can I install all the fonts that came with CS2? Do I have to install CS2 alongside CS4? Or can I just somehow grab the fonts?

The uninstallers for the Adobe Creative Suite and its component programs do not uninstall any fonts that were installed by same. Such fonts would have been installed directly into your C:\Windows\Fonts directory. And Helvetica was never installed by any Adobe application since Acrobat 3, circa 1997.
I personally no longer have my CD/DVD images from CS2, but I will extrapolate from what I see on my CS3 CD/DVD ISO images. If you had one of the CS2 suites, not just InDesign, you probably had a CD or DVD labelled content or something comparable. It didn't have an installer, but did have a bunch of directories. Look for a directory named goodies and you may find a subdirectory fonts that would have what you are looking for.
Otherwise, why not simply restore the missing font files from one of your system backups from your computer prior to it's being rebuilt? You do backup your system and maintain copies of the backup, right?
By the way, exactly what fonts do you believe are missing from CS4 that were provided with CS2? (Provide font names, please!)

Lost text / font embedding

Hi I have an old .fla file that i need to edit, it was created and stored on another machine that uses Flash MX 04, and i am trying to edit it on a machine using CS5. When i open the file, it says some fonts are missing, i change it to use default adobe, but some of the text is missing, sort of like if you have a missing link in inDesign, or illustrator. When i go to test the scene, it says to embed fonts, but presumably this is something that needs to be done on the old machine, as it displays fine on there, no lost text or anything.
Can anyone tell me a way i can embed the fonts in the original file, before transferring it to my machine to edit, or if there is a way i can "package" everything before transfer (again, like you would with links in indesign)

change all the fonts to fonts you have on your system and embed all the fonts for all the textfields. make sure no dynamic textfield has text added in the ide.

Some fonts are not shown correctly in LabVIEW 2012

I found a bug related with fonts in LabVIEW2012 f3 KR.
- When I select NI7SEG in font selection dialog, right font is not shown in the example box.
- Draw text at point.vi shows same problem for some fonts while other fonts are working.
I reported it to Korean NI. As far as I know, this was not reported in previous versions and I couldn't find any related documents in Google.
So, here I would like to know whether it is related with only Korean version. Please let me know if English version is OK.
* OS: Windows 7 32bit KR

Just now, I installed LabVIEW 2012 f3 (32-bit, English) and checked for the issue. But the font(NI7SEG) was not shown properly in VI either.
- Both of Korea and English version of LabVIEW 2012 on Win 7 Korea OS shows wrong results. It is same on 64-bit OS.
- LabVIEW 2010 but on same PC shows correct fonts.
Is there a limit of number of fonts in LabVIEW? There are more than 100 fonts are shown in the "Selection Font" dialog and I can divide them into 3 groups by sequential order. I find that all fonts in the 3rd group are not applied correctly.

I have lost some of my bookshelfs after the last update!

I have lost some of my bookshelfs after the last update and cannot create a new one. How can I fix it? I don't have them on my PC so I can't synchronize them. What can I do? Pretty dissapointed right now!

If the contact were added after the backup was made they will not be in the backup. If your contacts were synced with iCloud they may be there. If so they will apear shortly on your new phone.

You really should be doing backups with an actual backup application, especially one that will work automatically, and, if your external HD is large enough, back up your entire system. These can automatically back up only what's changed since the previous backup, and some will keep "archive" copies of things you've changed or deleted, also.
Too many things can go wrong, such as your internal HD failing, and you'll have a major project to reinstall everything.
You already have Time Machine, built-in to OSX. You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.
#27 in the second link mentions some alternatives, too.

If you are using cable and a Nethear router sounds like from the information you provide before your Airport setting are setup improperly. PPoE is not something a cable service would need to work. Fallow the steps I will provide bellow, I will add some screen shots also to assist if necessary.
1 - Open System Preferences from  (Menu)
2 - Click "Network"
3 - From the Network window you are going to wanna make sure Location is : Automatic and Show is : Airport
4 - Once the Show: Airport is select you should see a window like this, my window is selected for Ethernet simply because I am no longer running Tiger but the window will look the same.
5 - You will want to click on the PPPoE tab and you should see this
6 - You're gonna wanna make sure " connection using PPPoE " is not select, if it is make sure to uncheck this option
7 - Once this is uncheck make sure to click "Apply Now"
8 - You will want to click back on to the "TCP/IP" tab and make sure IPv4 is set to " Using DHCP "
9 - If the option to " Apply Now" is available again please click this
10 - Once this is done go to your Aiport Menu and see if your network is listed and select your network and eneter the password if necessary.
11 - If after these steps you still have issues I would recommend Power Cylcing your Router and Modem for about 5 minutes
12 - Make sure all lights are off when unplugging the Router and the Modem
13 - Some Modems have backup batterys so you may have to push in a tiny button on the back with a pin

Lost some of my purchases how can I get them back?

Hi I have lost some of my purchasesd when I had to format my hard drives and lost most of my music. I hadn't backed up my itunes library, which I will do as a matter of course from now one, but is there a way I can download some of the itunes I have previously purchased again without having to pay for them again?

Some fonts (Symbol, for ex.) do not render

When I set the font of some text to some fonts like Symbol, or Apple Symbols, for example, the text is not rendered using these fonts. Instead it looks like the default Helvetica font is used.
The Symbol and Apple Symbols fonts I have on my system are the default Apple-installed fonts (I can see that in Font book).
I have the same problem in Pages.
More generally, is there some issue in iWork that prevents the application from using certain fonts? How can I tell?
This is in Keynote 2.0.2 on Tiger 10.4.2.

I'm having a similar problem in Pages.
When I try to customize the bullets using other dingbat fonts (GoodDogBones, Charms BV, Eller, and so forth), the character that appears in the bullet box is rendered in a unicode font (Lucida Grande).
In other words, what I pasted, a coffee cup in Eller that appears when I type an "e," shows up in the bullet customizer as an "e" in Lucida Grande.
What I can't figure out is how to get these other dingbat fonts to show up in the Character Palette. I drag them to my "Favorites" in the Font dialog box, but nothing happen in the Character Palette. (All my fonts are in MacintoshHD/System/Library/Fonts so they're active for all users of the computer.)
So I guess my question is this: How do I add fonts to the Character Palette?!?

PDF problem. Some fonts do not display.

Since moving CS4 to a new Mavericks installation I have two problems -
1. On clicking 'print', the application quits with no warning or message.
2. On exporting to PDF some fonts display only a bounding box for each character. Some fonts display OK.
Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

Thanks Peter, not sure about the fonts. They come up OK on mu InDesign document but not on the PDF. I will check that out.
As for the migration, I already did a fresh install on the new system.

Some fonts are not working

I need to use Times or Times New Roman font, and the apostrophe/quotation mark key just turns out a weird combination of letters instead. The key works in some fonts but not others. How can I fix this?

Type characters display as boxes on some fonts.

Some fonts display each character as a box. How can I display these fonts properly in Illustrator? The fonts are installed and work normally in other programs.

If you are on a mac find all your .LST files and delete them. They are your font database files, and can get corrupted, no harm will be done by deleting them.

What format is your problem clip? Are there wave forms visible in the section without sound?
Right click on the clip in the event broswer and choose Reveal in Finder; open the clip in Quick Time to confirm that there is sound throughout at that stage of your workflow.

Some fonts do not appear in InDesign

Some fonts do not appear in InDesign although they can be used in Word, Pagemaker and show in Adobe Typemanager.

Can you name one?
These are the most common causes of people complaining "My fonts don't appear":
(a) Smart name sorting. "New Century Schoolbook" sorts under "C", not "N". "Adobe Garamond" sorts under "G". (I call this 'smart' sorting because apparently it isn't the same as, ehm, dumb sorting. However, I've never read a good description of its sort parameters.)
(b) Word and PageMaker (but not ATM) allow the use of fake fonts: bold, italics and bold+italics are produced by horribly deforming your base font. If you want a bold font in InDesign, use the designed one. If there isn't one designed ... the designer probably had good reasons not to make one. (It's still possible to create faux-bold and faux-italics in InDesign but the program leaves that decision to you).
(c) Smart Script sorting. InDesign groups its fonts per supported script. Latin fonts are at the top (a slightly self-centric choice), then come groups of fonts for Hebrew, Arabic, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, etc. etc. A font like Gisha contains Hebrew characters and thus appears in the Hebrew group.
(d) More than one font file with the same font name (internally). ID gets mightily confuzed if it encounters a file "times.ttf", font name "Times Roman", in one folder, and "tr_____.pfb", font name "Times Roman", in another folder. You can't really blaim it, though.
