Lost some of my contacts.

Lost some contacts this morning 4/13/14. How I found out was when I was going to text someone and noticed many of the recent text message contacts showed only numbers without names.  I then looked up a specific number in my contact list and found that he was not there...same thing happened when I looked up the rest.   After phone reset, no change. Anyone have similar issues today? If no answer or fix, I guess I'll have to restore to an earlier date from my computer.

As far as my "iCloud account" goes, I can't say I have ever used it.. How do you get it or login to it? I have iCloud with the only option set to 'find my phone'...
Copied from your previous post.
My iCloud was set with "contacts ON".
With an iCloud account, you can login via webmail access using a browser on your computer. Go to https://www.icloud.com/
Contacts turned on with your iCloud settings on your iPhone mean contacts are being synced over the air between your iPhone and your iCloud online address book. You can check your iCloud online address book at https://www.icloud.com/
You need to determine if your contacts are available and complete there first.

Do you see those in www.icloud.com? Yes- sign in to icloud on the phone.
No- how did you get those to the ipad?

I connected by phone to iclouds and lost some of my contacts. What can I do to restore them

What were you syncing them to? Have you looked in the address book on your computer to see if they are still there? Were you ever syncing them to the address book on your computer? If not, they are most likely gone. You may be able to restore from an earlier backup, but contacts are meant to be synced with an address book or cloud service.

  • I lost some of my contacts which was updated during last one year

i lost some of my contacts which was updated during last one year when reset the Iphone 4s it took the data from december 2012

No I have not checked to see if the netbook is still authorized. Where do I go to do that? In the Account info? If so, you cannot view which computers are authorized. And I'm sure it is, I usually don't mess with that part of it. It was just weird that I connected it to my Mac, and then after disconnecting it, a few of the apps just disappeared. And as I mentioned before, the "apps" portion in iTunes when I connect the Touch to the netbook is grayed out and I cannot even back up the apps from it to iTunes. When I clicked on Sync apps, it asked me if I was sure and says "are you sure you want to sync this ipod to this music library, all application will be replaced with the apps in this music library"
I found that odd because my iPhone does that, the iPod Touch should not. (I've owned an older model Touch, which it did not do this) It should allow me to backup all apps from it to iTunes.
That's the one thing I hate about the iPod Touches and iPhones being connected to iTunes. You constantly have to "sync" to backup, I like to manually do that on my own app by app.

    Hi everyone,
I lost some of my contacts when I backup in icloud, the problem is I have some contacts number but no names and some of them just gone,so if there is anyone knows about please help me.
    Thanks

Thanks Carolyn.  I tried that and it gave me an idea.  I also had my contacts on Google.  They were also in time machine but I used google.  I went to my Google contacts and exported to apple as vcards.  After checking the duplicates in the import screen, I merged duplicates in Address book.  When I finished..... my contacts are back and correct.  Yeah!!!!!!!

Backup is your best option if you have one. Reverting software will not bring the contacts back.

Post your question on Microsfot's own forums for their Mac products, as it's their software you're having issues with:

If you are now in the US then you can only use the US store, so you should update the address on your account
Changing country : Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account.
Had you copied the songs over to your computer's iTunes library, do they show in the Music section on it ? You can copy purchases that you still have on your iPad over to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option

Maybe you stored them on the e-mail account, check changing the filter of the contacts on the phone and checking where are they saving
Go to Contacts and then groups, to see where are they located

  • I have lost some of my contacts on IPhone 4S

I have lost some my contact on IPhone 4s without restart or after install programme.

If you did not set up the phone to sync with an address book app on your computer or with the address book app in iCloud then they are gone forever. If you DID sync with one of those they should come back the next time you sync.

  • I lost some of my contacts from both my iphone 5 and ipad I for no reason at all...how can I obtain the info back?

I woke up one morning this week to find that some of my contacts have been deleted from my iphone 5 and ipad first generation. This is very random and my icloud is not showing the missing numbers either. Does anyone know if there are any other back ups that apple has to the contact lists? or How I can retrieve them?

Do you see those in www.icloud.com? Yes- sign in to icloud on the phone.
No- how did you get those to the ipad?

  • My iphone4 automatically synchronized and I lost some of my contact information. How do I get this info back?

I got my iphone a couple of months ago and the verizon tech transferred my contacts from my Blackberry over to the iphone4.  Yesterday, I hooked up my iphone to my computer.  I started to set up for itunes and it automatically synchronized my iphone.  When I went to look up a phone number out of contacts the name was there but everything else was gone.  Some of my contacts still have phone numbers and addresses but probably 50% just have the name and that's it.
what do I do?  Is there a restore page?
    Mike

Not that it helps, but this is why I wish they would just go back to customer activations at home instead of activating iPhones in store. They do it there, then 3 or 4 or 5 months later, the user gets around to plugging it in to iTunes for the first time only to have all their contacts as well as apps and music they've purchased wiped out without ever having backed it up...
You can try to restore the phone. It 'should' have been backed up before the initial sync, but I'm not positive about that. I'm not in front of a machine with iTunes now and don't want to steer you wrong. There should be a number of helpful threads here. Use the search box at the top of the page, you should be able to find step by step instructions if it's still possible.
