Lost songs after organizing

Hey, I put some songs in itunes and they came up. I then organized them by adding artist album and whatnot and now they seem to have disappeared. Any help?

If they're in the itunes recently added smart playlist, they HAVE to be in itunes. Did they get changed to podcasts, or something odd like that? Or is something in the search bar that's preventing their display?
If you restart itunes, do they show?

  • Lost songs after downloading

Ok this has happened 2 times in the last week. From my iphone 4 I went to iTunes and downloaded a song by an artist. After the download I lost all that artist other songs but the one that was down loaded. Were talking full albums here and several. Were did they go? Does anyone know how to fix this ?
    Please help!

I would call Apple back, explain to them that you are very upset, and if that doesn't help, tell the Apple Customer Service people that your friends are hearing about the bad costumer service at Apple (because of this particular issue) and now you are recommending that they get a PC instead of buying a new Mac. I think that will do the trick! Don't forget the part about recommending to your friends to buy a PC instead of a new Mac, that will be the selling piece!
    Hope it helps,

  • I2nd Gen Ipod touch lost songs after upgrading to IOS 4.2.1.

I have 2nd Gen Ipod touch and after upgrading to IOS 4.2.1, all the music were wiped out and I can't seem to upload or sync it anymore.  Tried all the fixes out there in the web to no avail.  Appreciate the help.

I am having the same problem.  I tried using a backup from two months ago, all of my music and apps are lost.  However, my iPod DOES remember my settings for the default apps, and my contacts are still there!  Tried any fix I could find to no avail, would certainly appreciate any advice!

  • Lost Songs After Hard Drive Failure

Recently, my laptop hard drive failed and needed to be replaced. I was able to recover much of the music that was loaded on the drive, but many did not make it. I'm not worried about the songs that were copied from CD, but the ones that were purchased and not recovered off the failed drive.
Has anyone had this happen before and what can be done to recover my purchased music?
    Thanks!

Apple highly recommends you back up all purchases and generally does not allow you to redownload lost tunes, at least officially their policy is one download only. However I have read many reports of people contacting Apple, explaining the problem and POLITELY inquiring if it is possible to redownload and have been given a second chance. So you might try that route.

  • Lost songs after downloading from itunes

    Hi,
I have gotten overly frustrated and decided to not use itunes for the last couple of months because of it! In July, I lost my itunes library when my hard drive crashed. I emailed itunes then and they told me how to get back the majority of the songs I had bought from itunes. I did these steps and found that I was still missing a great deal of bought itunes songs and albums. Some examples are albums by Jack Johnson, Colbie Caillat, and James Blunt. I did make a back up disk at one point of my itunes but I was not able to retrieve the songs off of this either. Now my itunes has the songs I was able to download back in July and a ton of broken links to all my other songs. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
    Thank you

  • Deleting "lost" songs after transfer?

When transfering songs from an E-book I lost alot of my library (got the ! next to songs)...how do I delete goups of songs without going through the whole list? And, is there any way to automatically delete "dead"songs from library? Thanks All

... is there any way to automatically delete "dead"songs from library?
MacMuse's User Tip should provide the solution to your problem.
Below, I've taken the liberty of making a couple of minor changes in the wording that hopefully make it just a bit easier to follow:
    - Select the Music entry in your iTunes Source List (the left-hand column).
    - Select/highlight all the entries. Edit menu > Select All will do the trick.
    - Now go to the File menu > Get Info.
    - Confirm that you want to edit information for multiple items.
    - Assuming that you're not using it for actual song information, enter 99 in the BPM field. Press OK.
    - Wait for iTunes to retag the song files. Depending on the size of your Music Library, this may take a while.
    - Once that's finished, click on the BPM column heading in the main iTunes Library display to sort your songs based on the BPM entry. If the BPM column isn't showing, go to the View menu > View Options, check BPM and press OK.
    - Since iTunes wasn't able to find the files for the "dead" tracks, it couldn't retag them and they will be listed separately from the "live" (99 BPM) tracks.
    - You can now click on the first of the dead tracks and Shift-click on the last of them, then right-click > Delete.
    That should be it.
As MacMuse suggests, you might now want to go back and take the 99 out of the BPM field in case you ever have to do this again.

  • Lost songs purchased after deauthorizing

I deauthorized all my previous computers which had hardware problems and only authorized my current desktop. After syncing my iphone with my desktop, I lost all the songs I had purchased excepting for 3 recent purchases. Any idea on how to retrieve the lost songs?

  • After updating to iOS 6.1.5 on my iPod Touch 4th Gen, Some of my songs are skipping to the next song after 30 seconds of play...

After updating to iOS 6.1.5 on my iPod Touch 4th Gen, some of my songs are skipping to the next song after 30 seconds even though the iPod appears to be playing the current song. Some of my songs are mp3 files that have been playing fine for years...
    Anybody else experiencing this issue?
I'm using the latest version of iTunes and i don't have that problem on my PC. The only difference as far as i can tell is the updated iOS & firmware...
    AJ

Yes, other have. If the songs play OK in iTunes on the computer
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Lost Song Info

    OK, here's my situation:
I have Windows XP. I realised that no album artwork was showing on my iPod nano, even though it was on iTunes (most up-to-date version). This was because the error with the "Chkdsk" thing kept appearing. After I ran that, nothing changed, but after I'd changed some setting somwhere, I thought I'd fixed the problem. But I had to stop partway through the operation so only some of it came up on the iPod.
However, when I went back to it, I somehow accidentally deleted all song info (artist, album, album artwork etc) and now all that appears on both the iPod and iTunes is the song title. This is the case in "iPod", "Purchased" and "Library" sections. Nor is it on my hard drive.
Is there an easy way to retrieve all lost song info quickly and easily?

How many songs are you talking about? You can enter the information yourself for each one if you're up to it. Right click on the song file, then choose get info. On the second tab "info" where everything is probably showing up unknown, you can type in the information. I'm sorry I really don't know of another way to do this if the program can't ID the song to search the internet for details.
Are these whole albums or individual songs? If they're albums, you could burn them to a CD and then rip them into Windows Media Player. You'll get an option to search for the album info. online before you rip the CD. You can enter the artist or album name and let Windows Media Player find the correct song details, then Windows Media Player will enter the info into all of the columns for you. Once you have these albums ripped in Media Player, you can re-import them into iTunes and the tags will be there. (Just make sure you rip using mp3 so you don't have to go through a conversion process to bring them into iTunes.) Album art doesn't transfer from Windows Media Player to iTunes. You'll have to hand add this.
I don't rip in iTunes so I don't know how the program tags unknown albums. If iTunes can search for and add tag information to unknown albums--skip the Windows Media Player step and just re-rip everything in iTunes.

  • IPod touch duplicates songs after updates

My I-pod touch duplicates some (not all) songs after every IOS update. The only way I've found to correct this is to restore my I-pod and then synch everything again; very annoying and time-consuming. This occurs even after turing off I-Cloud Match. Any ideas/suggestions?

The only solution is the delete the non-playing songs and resync them or redownload them. Sometimes some files on the iPod get corrupted during and update. You may even have to restore the iPod:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Lost Songs! Please help!

My daughter has lost all of her songs after connecting to her laptop and updating her iPod to the newest version of software.  She has only ever downloaded songs directly from her iPod so they are not on any computer.  Is there any way to recover them?

When you updated the software, the iPod should have been backed up automatically before the update was installed. Try Control-Clicking (not sure what it is on PC--maybe ALT) on the iPod icon in the left frame of iTunes and select restore from backup.

  • Iphone 2.0 upgrade = lost songs

I lost songs during my 2.0 update. The songs were only on the phone. Is there anyway to recover these songs?

When I was updating the software on my iphone, I thought I saw a notice that the iphone was being backed up before the software downloaded. Was I hallucinating? Wouldn't that mean that whatever you had on the phone to begin with would be put back after the software download? Anyway, my iphone is ok, my daughter's isn't. She bought music from itunes, not on the computer but on her iphone and she lost those songs during the update. They're not in her library on the computer and not on her phone. Any suggestions? I told her to call Apple and maybe they'd let her redownload.

  • I have lost songs from HD, and want to re-download them. iTunes won't let me as they have already been downloaded to this computer. How can I do this?

I have lost songs from my HD (iTunes shows them as missing and although the artist folder and album name are on teh HD the songs aren't)
If I go into iTunes I can see I have bought them, and previously downloaded them, but I cannot 're-download them' as Itunes thinks they are there. The download songs not on the Mac doesn't list them, and there is no option to download them again.
Any ideas I either force a new download, or resent iTunes.

Delete the entries in the iTunes library.

  • Has Apple acknowledged the problem yet with itunes aborting preview of songs after about 10 seconds on windows 7 and if so is there an answer other than ipconfig?

Has Apple acknowledged the problem yet with itunes aborting preview of songs after about 10 seconds on windows 7 and if so is there an answer other than ipconfig?  IPConfig /flushdns doesn't help at all.  Until they fix it I will be previewing and buying my songs thru Amazon.

Doublechecking ... do you still get that if you update to iTunes 10.6.3.25 (just released today)?
