LOST songs help me

So I moved to the north west left my computer which my ipod was sync to and now using a new computer. So when I started to use itunes for the 1st time it asked me if I wanted to sync and I said yes...LIke a dummy...Does this mean all my previous music is lost for good??? PLEASE HELP

Sorry i'm new to this forum, not knowing how to create my own post i'm using this topic to raise my question since i experience similar problem. This is the first time i've used itune, songs were imported into my ipod from another computer, now i'm using itune from a new computer so there were no existing songs in itune playlist to sync.
1. my Itune doesn't seem to work properly, it doesn't play the songs in my ipod, sometimes playing a song will make it disappear from the list, other times it wun respond.
2. i accidentally cleared about one third of my songs from my ipod when i selected them all and 'cleared' it from itune. i wasn't able to retrieve it any way and when i disconnected my ipod from pc trying to find if its still in it, contents have been emptied.
3. when i reconnected my ipod back to pc i went to the drive property to find the memory used up remained the same before i cleared anything from my ipod. Does this mean the songs are still in my ipod somehow.
Is there anyway i can recover the lost data(from estimation, 300 odd songs were gone)???
Really appreciate if you could help!!

I bought a new computer and no longer have the old one with around 200 songs on it. When I downloaded iTunes to the new computer and purchased 10 songs, it asked if I'd like to replace my existing songs on my iPod with the new ones. I accidentally clicked yes and it deleted all of my songs on my iPod and replaced them with the 10 songs. How do I get my old songs back with no access to the old computer???

"How do I get my old songs back with no access to the old computer???"
Oops! Unless you want to invest in some data recovery software for the iPod, then the songs are lost.
Google for "PC Inspector" which is one such recovery program (there are others), but this type of software is not free and results can be patchy particularly if you've written over the iPods hard drive with new songs.

  • Lost Songs HELP PLEASE!!

Hi. Ive got a 4GB iPod Nano. I put some new songs in my library and tried to sync my iPod. I had 995 songs in my library. It said this was too many, and something about a playlist. I clicked OK and it synced but i only have 962 songs on my iPod and i cant sync any songs at all now.

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

  • Lost Previous Downloaded Songs Help?

Received an iPod Shuffle for Christmas and have some problems. Redeemed a download card at iTunes Music Store while visiting my aunt. Downloaded (2) songs, worked with no problems.
Now I go home and can't get the iTunes set-up disk to work on my home computer. Went to the iTunes website and downloaded software from there. Downloaded an additional (4) songs but now the original (2) songs are not there? What happened? You can go to My Computer and access the iPod when connected to the USB Port and several folders are there that has all (6) songs shown, but only plays the most recent (4) songs, Why? Any Ideas?

When you say that you've downloaded wirelessly through iTunes, are you referring to songs downloaded via the iTunes wi fi store on an iPod touch or iPhone? If so, the next time you have songs on the device that are not in iTunes, you may want to try the following (just to be safe) prior to connecting the device to the computer.
    1. In iTunes click Edit > Preferences > Syncing tab
    2. Select the option to disable automatic syncing and click OK
Connect the device and click File > Transfer Purchases from iPod
Regarding the lost songs, I would email iTunes Store support and explain what happened. They should be able to help you get these songs back, in a pinch.

As always, make sure you back up your iTunes store purchases to avoid any loss of your valuable music in the future.

  • Computer Crashed - Lost Songs

I had a problem with my computer, it crashed loosing a number of songs I had purchased, but I had not yet put them onto my iPod, I managed to recover the songs that were allready on my iPod but still (many months later) have not yet been able to recover the lost songs, iTunes acknowlages that I have purchaced them as it states in my purcase history but dont know where to go from there. Im sure somebody has also had this problem and could understand how frustrating it is. Any help will be greatly apreciated.
    Thanks in advance A13X15

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link you'll be able to email your query: Customer Service - iTunes Store Support

  • I have lost songs from HD, and want to re-download them. iTunes won't let me as they have already been downloaded to this computer. How can I do this?

I have lost songs from my HD (iTunes shows them as missing and although the artist folder and album name are on teh HD the songs aren't)
If I go into iTunes I can see I have bought them, and previously downloaded them, but I cannot 're-download them' as Itunes thinks they are there. The download songs not on the Mac doesn't list them, and there is no option to download them again.
Any ideas I either force a new download, or resent iTunes.

Delete the entries in the iTunes library.

Question:  I am new to LR and have it set up on a Mac desktop and laptop.  On the laptop, the Basic function under Develop simply disappeared.  I am lost.  Help.

It's a common issue. The Basic panel is merely hidden.
Hiding/unhiding panels is actually a feature of Lightroom but it is unintuitive - few people know it exists - so most newcomers are thrown when a panel somehow gets hidden.
Right-click anywhere in the right hand side panel area and a context menu will appear.
Click the Basic option to make the Basic panel re-appear.

  • I have lost most of my i tunes library.  Many of the lost songs are are my ipod.  What happens if I load plug my ipod into the computer?  Will I erase whats on the ipod because there'll be no match found on my itunes library.  Or..will I be allowed to mov

I have lost my i tunes library.  Many of my lost songs are on my two nano i pods.
Since I have lost my i tunes library I have re-installed most songs.  However I have a large number of songs on my i pods which I would like to retrieve.  If I try to load my i pods to my computer will I lose the songs which I could not get re-installed to my library but are on the i pods.  Since I lost my library I have not re-introduced my i pods for updating since they too will likely have to be re-installed.  Will I lose the songs already in the i pods if have to re-introduce them to my computer.  A solution to this problem would be for me to transfer my lost library songs from the i pod to my library.  Can this be done?
    1)  Is it possible to retrieve songs from a lost i tunes library?  Withoutout re-loading the entire library (since I have done this manually).
    2)  What happens if I re-introduce my i pods to the computer?  Will this cause me to lose the present i pod installed music?
    3)  Can I transfer my lost songs and albums from my i pods to the i tunes library?

As you will have discovered, the music sync is only one way, from iTunes to the iPod, minus iTunes purchases.  On top of that, an iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.

  • How can I download my past purchases that are not in my icloud?  Somehow I lost songs that I purchased they say that the orginal files are gone but I did not delete them

How can I download past purchases that are not in my icloud?  Somehow I lost songs it says that the orginal files can not be located.  They are still available in the store but it doesn't give me the option to download them.  I did not delete any songs or files but I am missing a lot of files

The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.
If you have to resort to trying to pull back the library from your iPod see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Note also that if iTunes has an entry for a song, even if that entry is broken, then it won't offer that track for download since it "thinks" you already have it. If you can't find the original files or recover them from a device, then you may need to delete the broken entries, close iTunes and reopen before you can access the past purchases.

  • Lost Song Info

    OK, here's my situation:
I have Windows XP. I realised that no album artwork was showing on my iPod nano, even though it was on iTunes (most up-to-date version). This was because the error with the "Chkdsk" thing kept appearing. After I ran that, nothing changed, but after I'd changed some setting somwhere, I thought I'd fixed the problem. But I had to stop partway through the operation so only some of it came up on the iPod.
However, when I went back to it, I somehow accidentally deleted all song info (artist, album, album artwork etc) and now all that appears on both the iPod and iTunes is the song title. This is the case in "iPod", "Purchased" and "Library" sections. Nor is it on my hard drive.
Is there an easy way to retrieve all lost song info quickly and easily?

How many songs are you talking about? You can enter the information yourself for each one if you're up to it. Right click on the song file, then choose get info. On the second tab "info" where everything is probably showing up unknown, you can type in the information. I'm sorry I really don't know of another way to do this if the program can't ID the song to search the internet for details.
Are these whole albums or individual songs? If they're albums, you could burn them to a CD and then rip them into Windows Media Player. You'll get an option to search for the album info. online before you rip the CD. You can enter the artist or album name and let Windows Media Player find the correct song details, then Windows Media Player will enter the info into all of the columns for you. Once you have these albums ripped in Media Player, you can re-import them into iTunes and the tags will be there. (Just make sure you rip using mp3 so you don't have to go through a conversion process to bring them into iTunes.) Album art doesn't transfer from Windows Media Player to iTunes. You'll have to hand add this.
I don't rip in iTunes so I don't know how the program tags unknown albums. If iTunes can search for and add tag information to unknown albums--skip the Windows Media Player step and just re-rip everything in iTunes.
