Lost Songs HELP PLEASE!!

Hi. Ive got a 4GB iPod Nano. I put some new songs in my library and tried to sync my iPod. I had 995 songs in my library. It said this was too many, and something about a playlist. I clicked OK and it synced but i only have 962 songs on my iPod and i cant sync any songs at all now.

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

    Update!
This is what I did to fix both the skipping songs problem and the iPod verifying forever & not able to restore problem (because of iTunes 9):
    a) I used Disk Utility to reformat my iPod while in Disk Mode using the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363?viewlocale=en_US
    and here:
    http://www.methodshop.com/gadgets/ipodsupport/erase/index.shtml#backup
    b) Do not unplug your iPod after reformatting (mine showed up as a firewire disk) - simply launch iTunes ( I went back to 8.2) and follow the Restore instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
iPod is recognized, syncs and doesn't skip songs anymore after that miserable experience with iTunes 9!!!

  • Lost Songs! Please help!

My daughter has lost all of her songs after connecting to her laptop and updating her iPod to the newest version of software.  She has only ever downloaded songs directly from her iPod so they are not on any computer.  Is there any way to recover them?

When you updated the software, the iPod should have been backed up automatically before the update was installed. Try Control-Clicking (not sure what it is on PC--maybe ALT) on the iPod icon in the left frame of iTunes and select restore from backup.

  • LOST songs help me

So I moved to the north west left my computer which my ipod was sync to and now using a new computer. So when I started to use itunes for the 1st time it asked me if I wanted to sync and I said yes...LIke a dummy...Does this mean all my previous music is lost for good??? PLEASE HELP

Sorry i'm new to this forum, not knowing how to create my own post i'm using this topic to raise my question since i experience similar problem. This is the first time i've used itune, songs were imported into my ipod from another computer, now i'm using itune from a new computer so there were no existing songs in itune playlist to sync.
    1. my Itune doesn't seem to work properly, it doesn't play the songs in my ipod, sometimes playing a song will make it disappear from the list, other times it wun respond.
    2. i accidentally cleared about one third of my songs from my ipod when i selected them all and 'cleared' it from itune. i wasn't able to retrieve it any way and when i disconnected my ipod from pc trying to find if its still in it, contents have been emptied.
    3. when i reconnected my ipod back to pc i went to the drive property to find the memory used up remained the same before i cleared anything from my ipod. Does this mean the songs are still in my ipod somehow.
Is there anyway i can recover the lost data(from estimation, 300 odd songs were gone)???
Really appreciate if you could help!!

  • Audition CS5.5 - The CTI is moving 10x the speed of the song help please!

So I've been having this problem right off the bat.. When playing anything in Audition the CTI moves at 10x the speed it's supposed to, while the song audibly is fine. I've been searching the internet for about 2 days now and can't find this problem anywhere. Out of all the problems I had with Audition after installing it, this is the one problem I haven't been able to fix, and I thought it should have been easy too. So if anyone knows how to fix this please help!! Thankyou

I'm using NVIDIA Geforce 8500 GT and the lastest driver (the one I just installed) is 285.58
I don't recall exactly which driver version I had before, but I think it was something like 260.5, it was over a year old.
Also 285.58 came out in October 2011.

  • IPod mini won't hold the full capacity of songs - HELP PLEASE!

In the past few weeks, my library has grown from 500 to maybe 850 songs. Since the ipod mini holds 1000(is that correct?) I should have no problem. Well there is one: it sais "there is not an efficient amount of space" or whatever, meaniing i have too many songs. So i look on my mini and it says that there are only 590 songs on it! There's plenty of room! So, can't it hold 850?
    please help!
    Sincerely,
    Lauren

See your other post. There really is no need to ask the same question twice in the space of a few minutes. : )

  • Ipod library LOST!  Help, please!

I recently ran the automatic cleaner on my computer to organize unused files... after that, when I went to plug my ipod in, none of my files showed up on the screen and it said something like, "Would you like to transfer files or erase and sync?" I picked "transfer files", and this transferred only about 18 files (more than 200 were on the ipod).
So then I did something I regret; I pressed "erase and sync". That made the rest of the files disappear from my ipod too. Is there ANY way I can get my files back, or are they lost forever?
(Would it work if I hit "system restore" on my computer?)
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

Pressing "Erase and Sync" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in this iTunes does exactly what it says. If you linked to an iTunes with only a few or completely different songs it will have erased your original iPod song list. There are some data recovery programs on the market. I've no personal experience of them so I can't say how effective they are, here's an example: iPod Data RecoveryBuegie - Recovering Songs
None of the recovery programs are particularly cheap so you have to decide if in your particular circumstances it's worth it to get your songs back. If they came primarily from your CDs then it's most likely not as you can re-rip them.

  • Lost songs HELP!

I bought a new computer and no longer have the old one with around 200 songs on it. When I downloaded iTunes to the new computer and purchased 10 songs, it asked if I'd like to replace my existing songs on my iPod with the new ones. I accidentally clicked yes and it deleted all of my songs on my iPod and replaced them with the 10 songs. How do I get my old songs back with no access to the old computer???

"How do I get my old songs back with no access to the old computer???"
Oops! Unless you want to invest in some data recovery software for the iPod, then the songs are lost.
Google for "PC Inspector" which is one such recovery program (there are others), but this type of software is not free and results can be patchy particularly if you've written over the iPods hard drive with new songs.

    Hello Jennwj,
It sounds like you have iTunes credit and you are being prompted to verify credit card information. You may be able to set your payment method to None in the iTunes account settings with this article:
iTunes Store: Changing your payment information
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1918
You can see the payment methods that the iTunes Store accepts in the Payment Type section. If you want to remove the payment method, select None in the Payment Type section.

  • Duplicate Songs - Help Please

Hello - I have imported about 100GB of music from my external HDD into iTunes and unfortunatly there are a number of duplicate songs for some of my artists. In some cases I have the song three times.
Is there a program or a way in iTunes I can remove all the duplicate songs so just the one is present? It is very frustrating to have to listen to the same son twice.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thank you.

In iTunes go to File>Show Duplicates. Select the duplicates. Delete those duplicates by pressing optioncommanddelete. Choose to trash the file. Repeat for all.
You can ease the selecting by holding down shift key or the command key and select the duplicate songs.

  • The newest version of iTunes screwed up my songs Help Please!?!

I don't know what happened, when I installed the newest version of iTunes it deauthorized some of my songs, songs that I bought through iTunes. Also, some of my songs skip in places now, that didn't happen on them before. Does anyone know how to fix this? If so I would really appericeate their help. Thanks.
    HP   Windows XP

So I think the problem may actually be with QuickTime rather than itunes.
I tried all of the "fixes" listed on the board including adjusting settings in Quicktime etc and tried updating and back-dating my audio drivers but - no luck.
. Even re-installed itunes 7 but no luck.
. Uninstalled itunes 7 and installed 6 (had an old local install file) but - no luck.
. Rebooted etc in each case.
. Uninstalled itunes AND quicktime completely and re-installed version 6 itunes and quick time.
It now SEEMS to work OK - the skipping has gone for the moment but I'll keep an eye on it and let you know....
I still haven't seen a definitive answer as to why this happens OR a fix from Apple.....
Surely something this common and frustrating should be fixed quickly? Surely a post at the head of the board by Apple moderators to point us in the right direction?

  • So i have had an itunes account for forever. all of my musoc has been pusharchsed and is now saying that they can not be located. i have well over hundreds of songs help please

all my music is gone. i have h8jndreds of songs that now say "they cannot be loctaed" this is bull crap

This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • The lost pictures. help please!

I got a new iphone last week and I set up an icloud account on my old iphone to make sure I would have all of my pictures on my new iphone. Now I set up my new iphone and none of my pictures are there. Is there any way I can get those pictures back? Or is there anyway I can find them. Any help would be amazing!

Move the photos from the Trash bin in iPhoto onto the Library icon to get them back in their proper events.  Then check the thumbnails to see if they are still behaving the same.  If they are  make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Help Please- just lost 5600 songs

I have two things going very wrong, please help.
1.I have had trouble dropping songs into iTunes. i have searched the forums and I am very frustrated at the amount of people having the same problem with no resolution. i tried to drop 20 concerts into iTunes and only 2 showed up. These shows play in Quicktime and I know that they're not all corrupt. i doubt any of them are. I tried saving to a flash drive and they still wouldn't drop in. I tried importing the shows, tried importing the songs, but to no avail. I tried saving the music into another folder on the desktop and they still wouldn't drop into iTunes.
    2. This is the biggie. My harddrive isn't very big so after I save the music onto my ipod i have to erase it. So I have 5000 songs that can't play because they're not stored onto the hard drive anymore. So I selected all of the songs that aren't able to play anymore and erased them from iTunes. I recently synced the ipod and now I've lost all 5600 songs. Please help before I ruin anything else.
    Thanks,
    -Norman

It's very frustrating because I had tried to add the files like you said, but to no avail. But there hasn't been a reason stated as to why we can't add the files. The only answer seems to be that that's the way it is and we'll have to live with it. I know the files aren't corrupt, the format is the same, they're from a sharing website and there's no copyright protection or anything like that on them. iTunes just doesn't do it. I'm kinda sick to my stomach right now
And now i just lost 5600 songs
