Lost songs that were on laptop before having to reformat... HELP!!!
I have a laptop (HP Pavillion Entertainment PC). It froze up one night and my husband had to reformat the computer in order for it to work at all. I had tried to burn a cd that i had ordered on itunes before but it got screwed up, we were going to get a different cd drive cuz this one is messed up...
either way, before we had the chance to do that, the computer froze and would not work, so her had to reformat the computer. I lost all my pix and this album that I had just downloaded... is there any way to get that back from itunes without having to buy it again?
I tried to find a customer support link but it wasn't working... GAH! i'm so frustrated.. HELP!!!
If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service
If you have an iPod that still has the purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

I have over 350 songs that were lost on mutliple devices in an accident. The original computer and Ipod were lost. My account has been the same for years but I can't access my old library. Help!!
<Email Edited by Host>Whatever you bought from iTunes is yours forever and can be downloaded as many times as you want. This assumes what you purchased is still available in the Store.
Here is the procedure for your reference.
On a computer, launch iTunes. Click on iTunes Store on the left
On the right you will see this
"Sign in" using the Apple ID used to purchase your songs, then click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button.
Whatever you have that did not originate from iTunes will have to be obtained from whatever means you used to obtain it in the past. -
A lot of my songs that were on my iPhone are no longer showing up because I updated to iOS6
This is absolutely ridiculous and frustrating. As soon as I made a software update a couple of things happened: My PC very rarely finds my iPhone when it's plugged in via USB (and yes, the USB cord works just fine). 2) Songs that were on my iPhone are no longer available for me to play because *GASP* I didn't purchase them from Apple! (OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG) for whatever reason they aren't identified in Match or whatever it's called... So therefore I no longer get to listen to it via my iPhone. When did this all start? As soon as I upgraded my software. Wow, I'm so frustrated and livid right now it's insane. I can't wait until I get a new phone. Never purchasing another Apple product again. This is just insane.
This message papers when iTunes can't find the songs in the location they used to be. If you moved them, or is connected the external drive they're on, move them back to their original location, or onnect the drive before starting iTunes.

I have a classic iPod with songs that were put on it from a different computer. If I plug it up to my computer, will it keep the songs that were originally on it from the previous computer AND allow me to put new songs on it from my computer?
No. Your iPod is designed to sync with one computer/iTunes library at a time. If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, the contents currently on the iPod will be erased and replaced with content from the new library. So you'll want to copy what is currently on the iPod over to your new iTunes library first before syncing it.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

I recently downloaded Ios 7 and all the songs that i have purchased before, but deleted off my itunes because i didn't want them, showed up. I don't know how to delete them off my ipod and i really don't want them there. Is there a way to get them off? The songs dont show up in my itunes on my computer, just on my ipod with a download button next to them. I don't want them there anymore because i don't like that kind of music anymore and i don't know how to get them to go away.
There is a similar setting for Videos on that Settings screen, so if you leave that 'on' you may have similar happening in the Videos app

In the new i06 that I just loaded into my 4s, I have no way of knowing which songs are on my iphone vs stored in the cloud. There used to be a small cloud next to songs that were not on the phone. This is an important piece of information if you are a frequent traveller, as most of the flights I am on don't have onboard wifi, so it becomes a crap shoot as to what I will have available to listen to.
Is there a way I can view what songs are actually stored locally?Go to Settings > Music and set "show all music" to OFF.

I am trying to transfer my itunes songs that were purchased using a previous apple id and windows pc ( I now have a macbook pro). When I try and download the itunes files, a message appears telling me that 7 songs purchased under the old apple id cannot be added to itunes on my macbook( the rest are added ok). I know the previous apple id, but have forgotten the password. When I try and retrieve the password using the security questions, I am asked for my birthdate. When I enter my birthdate, I am told this information is incorrect! Thats as far as i can go!
How can I update my apple id( and remove any old ones) if I can't retrieve the old password? You need a third-party program lke one of those discussed here:

I was warned and I went straight to the site and they were gone. I didnt was any time. Either way, there should be a way to either store or restore such items. Have you ever lost pictures that were so important to you that you couldnt sleep or eat for some time. I have and it wasnt fun. I'm glad that you were able to get yours unlike some of us.
I am still wondering why iTunes tries to confuse me every time I try to make changes in my preferences, telling me that I "don't have enough permissions", although I am the administrator.
That's clearly a fault. Whether it's an iTunes problem or a Windows problem I can't say at this time. If you search the Using iTunes for Windows forum for "permissions", you should find threads that can help you sort out this problem.
Then, changes to the format are not obvious, and I get no notice that I am burning music files as data.
If you click on a playlist and look at the lower-right of the iTunes window, it says right there what format it will use to burn the playlist. -
I have an old itunes act with a lot of songs that i set up before i owned an iphone. now that i have an iphone i have a new act. my question is how do i get the songs from the old act onto my new iphone?
Hello brjdunn,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
You are able to change your Apple ID by following the instructions below. That way you will still have access to all of your previous purchases:
Change your Apple ID

I upgraded to iOS 7 and I lost emails that were in my inbox - I used to see all emails that I did not delete, now I only have emails from the past month - how can I get the old, undeleted emails back? Or, at least, show email older than one month old?

A email account that was used is now not in use and songs that were purchased and added are bound to this old account from the same computer how do I the purchaser of these songs reclaim the authorization to play and use in my new account. even though account name may have been changed.
Just authorize the computer and retreive them.
Go here -> https://iforgot.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/DSiForgot.woa/wa/iforgot .
FYI: you should have simply updated the AppleID with new info and continued to use it instead of creating a new one. -
How can i retrieve songs that were on my account, when my old computer is now broken to a point of no return!?
You can restore them from your backup - if you havn't got a backup then you'll need to re-purchase them. Media (music, films, tv shows) can only be downloaded from iTunes once, which is why you are advised to make and maintain backup(s) of your purchased (and any other important) content.

So I was a little skeptical about deleting photos from my iPhone but I did. Shouldn't I be able to access them on iCloud? Because I can't find a way to view all my old photos that were backed up before I deleted them.
No you can not access yoru photos on iCloud
PhotoStream is a way to share photos between devices - it is not a way to backup photos or to view photos

How to recover songs that were deleted
How do I recover songs that were deleted from itunes library and itunes acount and coputuer.
If the songs were purchased using your Apple ID on iTunes, simply open iTunes, click on the iTunes Store, then click "Purchased" on the right side and you can re-download from there.
If the songs were not purchased using your Apple ID on iTunes, recover them from your latest computer backup.
