Lost sound from onboard games and youtube, skype and computer sounds ok. Presario CQ61

This happened after I installed the last Vista updates from microsoft. Both sound drivers say they're ok when I run dxdiag. Mixer at 100% No sound in two browsers, and dvd's have no sound either. Would a system restore be the way to go, or can I just reverse an update without doing the whole computer? Thanks in advance for the info

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). Hi Kappy Thanks for your answer. I did a reboot on my Macbook as suggested and this operation is going on non stop for 14 hours and on the screen always appears the same message that you can see in the picture in attachment. Any ideas?

Skype playing computer sounds through call.

When im using skype and have any program thats playing noise (youtube, itunes etc.) the sounds from those programs play over skype. This has happened on the same computer with both Mac and Windows (boot camp on macbook pro). I've looked in windows and where it shows my mic even with it muted it its picking up sound, which I would assume is from something running (again youtube, itunes, etc.). I'm using Turtle Beach X12's as my headset and using the mic on that and not the built in one.

Re route sound from older game to usb heads

I have a sound blaster li've 24 , and a plantronics usb headset. most of the games i play the?sound is play back thru the head set.one game does not, (panzer general)?it plays briefings thru the head set the game effects thru the analog jack on the sound card.older games like starcraft play thru the head set. is there a way to route all the sound from the analog jack to the usb port??TIA

No sound from Apogee Jam with iPad mini and Lightning-30 pin adapter

Hello everybody.
I'm trying to use my Apogee Jam with iPad mini but I am unable to hear any sound from it. Jam seems to work, since the led become green and react to the guitar signal. I tried two different guitars and different cables but nothing changes. Jam also works perfectly on MacBook Pro and garage Band, so I first assumed the issue was in the iPad or in the Lightning-30 pin adapter (genuine).
Oddly on AmpliTube I can tune the guitar, so some signal arrives to the iPad, but I can't do the same on JamUp, where the tuner seems not to reiceve any signal. Are there some settings I should check on the apps?

I don't think that a software update from Apple will solve the issues that you are having. You have a rogue installation. After you posted I have just done the following:
Disk Utility can verify my partitioned Volume (including my boot disk) AND REPAIR the non-boot disks on the same Volume without a glitch. It repairs the non-boot disks containing data smoothly.
I have used Mail to send some mails from some Yahoo and Hotmail accounts to my Thunderbird client containing GMail accounts - absolutely normal.
I have iLife '09 but my iMovie '09 and iPhoto '09 open in a jiffy and I see no issues here. I have 6GB RAM (Maximum) on an early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 750GB hard drive partitioned with 120GB reserved for the Boot Drive.
I am sorry that I cannot help further but I am sure there must be a way to reinstall the software without having to revert to restoring your ML backup. I have two clones and if you have such I would attempt to do that through that rather than through Time Machine - that is of course if you have a cloned drive.

my sound card does not work and i have the amd 64bit 3500+ with msi-7125 version X.1.
Can anyone help as my next option is to go back to crapy yoyo tech who recommended and speced the solution knowing that there is an issue with the diamond model of the motherboard as you need -5 v for sound to work :-( nice!
I've tried triders from nvidia (forceware stuff) and got latest amd driver + msi live update.
Have not connected the front panel speaker connections either.

Not able to get the sound from my tv to come through my surround sound speakers

I have a new Samsung 46" tv and a new yamaha receiver also a new Samsung blu-ray player. I currently have an HDMI cable going from my tv to my receiver and a short HDMI cable going to my Blu-ray player and the old style red and white rca cables from my tv to my receiver. The surround sound works great when playing the blu-ray but no luck when watching regular tv. I have tried to change the tv speakers to external speakers but all is silent when i do that. I have read on the other post of similiar problems and the solution seemed to be using an optical digital cable. I have also read on prior post that i should be able to accomplish this with just the HDMI cable. I do not have a cable box only a cable line coming into the house and straight to the tv. Do i even need the rca cables?

When i purchased the equipment from best buy i told them what all i was trying to accomplish and this is the exact way i was told to make the connections keep in mind i know nothing when it comes to electronics so i wrote the instructions from the salesrep word for word. Here is what I have. My tv is located on one side of the room and receiver and blu-ray on the other about 25' from each other. I have regular cable coming to the tv and I have an HDMI cable coming from HDMI (DVI- IN) on the tv to HDMI(OUT) on my RX-V367 receiver. the i have a short HDMI cable going from my receiver (HDMI/DVD) to my blu-ray (HDMI out). My RCA cables came into play when I told the rep. that I wanted my tv sound to come through my surround sound. He said they did not have a digital optical cable with a length of 25' to reach from tv to receiver so I would have to use RCA cables and to connect them from (audio component IN) on my tv to (AV OUT) on my tv. The input on my receiver when watching tv in on HDMI 1.

I recently purchased HDMI cable and adaptor, so that I can play downloads from my Macbook Air on my TV. There is only sound from the Macbook, not the TV - Do I need as separate cable for sound?

I've got the same issue: when I connect my Macbook Air (2011) to TV via HDMI cable there's no sound through the TV system, only from the Macbook Air. I used to use my older Macbook Pro with the same HDMI adapter and it worked just fine, but not with the Macbook Air it doesn't.
My software is up to date. I tried to select the TV as an output option in sound preferences, but it doesn't yield any results.
Rebooding multiple times doesn't help either.
Any suggestions on how to tackle this problem?
