Lost sound on mail attachments

I lost sound for mail attachments when I installed Mountain Lion. Have sound for everything else. Any ideas?

Not sure what you mean about sound for an attachment in Mail. However, the sounds in mail are controlled through Mail > Preferences in the menu bar up top. Under the General tab you can control the sounds:

Lost Sounds in Mail using POP acct.

Of all the threads I've researched here about losing my Mail sounds none are related to POP accounts. I'm not sure why that makes a difference but every thread addresses IMAP acct. and a solution to this problem. Having a POP acct. I do not have control over the "idle" feature which all these posts refer to so if anyone knows why/how I might have lost all my mail sounds feel free to chime in. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and Mail 4.4 on a Macbook Pro. I had all my sounds up until yesterday when they all disappeared.

There are two places for you to check your sound:
First, in Mail, open Preferences (under Mail menu) > General > make sure you have something checked under "new messages sound".
And, check System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects > do you have something chosen there? Then move to "Output" and make sure you have your speakers (internal unless you have external speakers) highlighted.
Hopefully those will get your mail sound back.

First without using the backup, in case it contains corrupt data.
If it works after that, use the backup to restore from.

Lost sound on Power Point (.pps) attachments to eMails

Since I have upgraded my Mac to MAC OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.1), I am unable to get any sound on .pps attachments to eMails (the same attachments to the same eMails received on my PC laptop do produce sound). In an attempt to maybe solve this problem, I remove OpenOffice from my Mac and downloaded anew OpenOffice 3.1.1 I still cannot get any sound. I also have the Microsoft Office suite on my Mac, installed before my upgrade to Mac OS X, and its Power Point program also fails to produce any sound for .pps slidesshows.
I do have sound on videos of any kind.
Can you help?

Do you have printer settings that have been stored in Thunderbird?

An apple script that saves mail attachments no longer works in lion

In my mail rules, I have been using an apple script, which, if the sender belongs to a certain group, saves any attached files to a special folder I have for attachments from that group. After installing Lion, It performs other parts of my rule (plays a sound, for instance and moves the mesage to a special mailbox, for another), but it FAILS now to save the attachment using the script below. I hope someone knows of a workaround. If not, I hope apple will fix this soon. Here's the script--

You don't say what your version of Windows you have. Assuming XP, go to Start | Run, type DXDIAG and click OK. Click the Sound tab and run the tests to eliminate a hardware problem first of all. If you don't hear anything, check your cables first of all. Also make sure "Mute" isn't checkmarked in your sound setup. You'll find that in Windows Control Panel.
Which browser do you use? If you have Firefox 4, sign up to the HTML5 trial @ http://www.youtube.com/html5
HTML5 is the latest video standard and doesn't require Flash player. Google is in the process of converting all its files to work with the new format. It may solve you problem. If you don't have Firefox 4, you can get it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
IE8 doesn't support HTML5.
To clean out your temp files, go to Start | Run, type: CLEANMGR and click OK. Click OK again to start the utility. Tick all the boxes except "Compress old files" because the latter takes too long, and then click OK. You can run this utility any time you wish by the way.
The above steps will hopefully fix your problem. If not, post here again please.

How to download MP3 mail attachments to iPhone 4s?

Newbie here with a question. How do I download MP3 mail attachments to my iPhone 4s? Word documents & Excel charts too for that matter. I work for a songwriter. Would be great help. So far, I can open the attachment fine. Just wondering if I could possibly do actual work on my iPhone instead of having to synch through a PC. Heard somewhere there's no file system on iPhone. Thus, I'm a bit lost. Thank you any & all who may be able to shed some light on this matter or suggest reading materials.

Lost sound options on iPhone5

My iPhone 5 is 6 weeks old. Was fine at first, but I've now lost "sound" options for everything other than my primary ringtone. All other sound settings S(text tone, new mail, new voicemail, etc.) now only vibrate, no matter what sound I try to select under Settings.

I've been told by Verizon it is not a software issue. It's a microphone hardware issue. I'm on my 3rd Iphone 5S.
What we talked about was the fact I have a 64G and she sees problems with the 64G but not the 32G. Even moreso sounds like a hardware issue. I've tried every headset (which does seem to help volume) but not enough. Has anyone found a headset (I don't care if it's bluetooth or plug in) that dramatically increases the phone's volume?

Mail attachments not saving to the folder I choose

My mail attachments are not saving to the folder I choose. When I select a file to save in the mail drop-down box, I am given options to save to a folder of my choice. However, when I select save the document is actually saved deep in some Mail Downloads area, not in my chosen folder. Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution?

What kind of files are you trying to attach?
Is it all recipients having this problem or specific one(s)?
Could you possibly post a screenshot of the sent message from your side and a screenshot of what the recipient sees?
What happens if you send one of these messages to yourself?

Importing to I-Movie - lost sound AND video

Hi.
I have a feeling this has already been answered but here goes:
I recorded some video on my Sony still camera in MPEG format (.mpg files). They worked fine in I-photo. When I imported them into Imovie though, I not only lost sound but it would seem vision. They are now .mov files but don't play?
The scroller moves, but the picture doesn't change, it just zooms in on the first frame (like a slide show) and there's no sound.
I am not very techie, and new to Macs. Can anyone please tell me how to solve this, and have I lost the content on the files I transferred into IMovie?
I transferred them into Imovie so I could compress them for web use on my blog.
I have already downloaded Streamclip in case I need that, though I don't know if I have to open/mount/unzip it or anything like that.

Right, since we spoke I met a guy who said:
Streamclip WILL be enough for me and it will work. He said my camera will be using MPEG-1 and so I will be fine. If I had an MPEG-2 (professional?) camera it would be more complex and I would need to buy that Apple component.
So I downloaded it. The next step will be learning how to use it! That's going to be a whole different ballgame. If you have any links to an easy step-by-step guide, that would be awesome? RE the external drive, I'm downloading my MPEG's via USB cable onto the hard drive before I do anything at all.

Try resetting your SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 Then make sure in system prefs/sound/output that you've selected internal speakers.

Default Mail attachments to "View As Icon"

Is there a way to default attachments to "View As Icon" instead of previewing them in Mail? Specifically MP3s, since there's no way to drag the preview player directly into iTunes. I know I can just right click to change, but I get a lot of emails with MP3s attached and need to pull them straight into playlists.

Mail attachments don't work iphone

I have three users who updated their phones to 7.0.4. After doing so, half of the email attachments don't show up in emails. Instead, they get a "this message has no content." It happens with different email senders and different attachment file types (pdf and xls). One user specifically noted that it happened after updating to 7.0.4. Two of those users are on iPhone 4S's and another is on a variation of 5.
Any ideas as to what is causing this or how to fix it?
side note: mail attachments on those same problem emails work on the user's Outlook clients as well as Android phones (when tested).

Use Plain Text instead of RTF for message composition and place any attachments below all message text including a signature if one is used.
The Send Windows Friendly Attachments option is designed for only one thing and that is removing the Apple resource fork from an attached file which is invisible from fellow Mac users.
