Lost text in smartshape cp8 version 8.0.1.242

Hello,
I've lost all text entered into smartshapes throughout the whole project, it only repears after selecting the shapes. If the shape is not selected before previewing or outputting the text stays hiden. Is there a solution or have I made a booboo?

Look in the properties. Try clearing the option to lock (or lock them) then use the Apply To All.

I recently upgraded my iphone 5 to ios 8 through iTunes on my PC. After the upgrade, I lost all of my text messages and many of my photos on my photostream. My photos were backed up, so I'm not as worried about that. Is there any way to recover the lost text messages?

Ah, okay. More info - knowing you have lost more than just the keyboard sounds is a big hint !
Get a strong light and a magnifying glass an have really good look inside the base connector and the headphone socket. You are looking for fluff.
These new symptoms have frequently been found to be caused by fluff in either socket and the phone thinking its on the headset.
Put the headset on and have someone ring you - if you hear the phone in the headset, its the socket faulty or clogged with fluff.

Lost text / font embedding

Hi I have an old .fla file that i need to edit, it was created and stored on another machine that uses Flash MX 04, and i am trying to edit it on a machine using CS5. When i open the file, it says some fonts are missing, i change it to use default adobe, but some of the text is missing, sort of like if you have a missing link in inDesign, or illustrator. When i go to test the scene, it says to embed fonts, but presumably this is something that needs to be done on the old machine, as it displays fine on there, no lost text or anything.
Can anyone tell me a way i can embed the fonts in the original file, before transferring it to my machine to edit, or if there is a way i can "package" everything before transfer (again, like you would with links in indesign)

change all the fonts to fonts you have on your system and embed all the fonts for all the textfields. make sure no dynamic textfield has text added in the ide.

Refresh Pivot Bug in Power Query version 2.16.3822.242

I have an Excel file with Power Query and several Pivot Tables built from the Power Query data. The Pivots are built from the table loaded to a worksheet, and there is a timeline date slicer connected to all those various Pivot Tables.
In build 2.16.3822.242, refreshing the Pivot Table (either by right-click/Refresh, or programmatically via macro) causes the date timeline slicer to disappear (literally be deleted from the sheet). The Pivot Refresh succeeds fine.
This does not occur when using Power Query Version: 2.16.3785.242. So for the time being, my only workaround is to avoid installing the newer build.
Any ideas what's causing it? I told my coworker (the primary user of the file) that she could still use the file and go filter every pivot's date range separately, rather than the slicer, but that is laborious and for now she is just going to remote-desktop
into a computer that doesn't have build 3822 installed yet.

Hey Ed, I apologize for un-proposing your answer so quick, I was on my Windows Phone but the forum loading spinner wouldn't leave the text entry field, so I couldn't input a reply until I got home.
I actually found a solution just today. This may not be the 'only' solution, but it worked well. When I had previously thought I had a solution, it only 'worked' because my subsequent refresh after making the table change didn't add any new rows of
data (all the rows it would have returned that day were already there). Today I made the change and then refreshed, and the new rows were formatted as the Power Query intended them to be.
The settings I used were to set the table to "do not preserve formatting" and to "overwrite existing cells for new data, clear unused cells". Now my inserted Power Query table is plain white (no banded lines or colors), but I don't care
because it's on a hidden sheet that no one will ever see.
Here's the table settings that seemed to work well for me.
And to be honest (although I haven't extensively tested), I think this was only a problem if the table was created using an old version of Power Query, then refreshed with the new version. Anyway, now I can easily refresh my Query and then the Pivot
from it without trouble.
And since I suck at brevity: I also think it'd be beneficial for me to re-create these workbooks and have the Power Query only add the data to the data model, and source the Pivot directly from that, rather than indirectly source the pivot from a populated
table. Basically save a step, and then the Pivot will refresh together with the connection, rather than having to be refreshed separately after the query is done.
In any case, I'm loving this tool and I'm practically a Power Query evangelist to every other department, because it empowers the knowledge worker to investigate data without waiting weeks for a DBA to have time to write a query and send results. Plus

Juggling working from home with a sick child today has meant I've lost a lot of work...!
I wanted to copy a huge chunk of text from one pages document to a new one, but i've lost it...can only think I've hit cut instead of copy and now its gone. Am using our Macbook so full pages version.
I've jumped around from document to document so undo is not helping! can anyone think where i could retrieve the text from please? otherwise I will not make it to bed tonight as I'll be redoing it all! i've looked in the trash and recent documents but to no avail...help!!

Bring back lost Creation types from previous versions of Elements?

I would like to see some of the Creation types from previous versions of Elements that appear to have been lost in the lastest verions reinstated - either within the product or as downloadable options. Specifically I use the 'Album Pages / Seasons' creations in PE4 a lot but looking through a download of PE7 they are no longer there.
If this can be addressed it would also help me enormously to be able to repeat text boxes on each page (same text, font & position) on each page in just the way I already can with headers and footers.
Any support for this type of thing?

Lost text when exported text to another computer

Hello everyone,
The new FCPX is great whith the libraries and all, but I still loose my text everytime I use another computer with the FCPX projects and files on my hard drive… Everything goes with it BUT the text (subtitles or titles made in FCP not Motion)…
Anyone knows why ?

Last spring I was involved in an unusually complicated project that built upon a FCP 7 TL, and pulled in a smorgasbord of file formats and effects from various third party apps. The project was cut on two systems, using the same version of X (although different OS versions), referencing media on shared storage, Each time the FCP X work was switched from one system to other, we lost our lower thirds. At the time, I didn't try to diagnose the issue because of time constraints. So they were updated when the movie was finished,
I had assumed that the cause was unrendered title clips (rendering would have really slowed things)…hence my advice, which apparently is bogus. (BTW, I did test before I posted that advice – rendering lower third to see whether they traveled and they did.) Another thing to mention…all of our lower thirds were custom-made in Motion; but apparently that isn't the cause of your issue either.
Hopefully someone here will come up with some better theories…or perhaps a bug that pops up under certain circumstances.

Here's my problem
I wrote a text message in a forum site and pressed send.
Then a new page is loaded saying there was an error and I should press the back button to reload the previous window.
I know from experience if I do this I will loose all the info I just wrote. However, if I reload the curent page, the info is sent again as I get a question asking if I want to resend the info. Unfortunately the problem then reoccur.
What I would like to do is to catch the info that is resent, i.e. my written text, so I can start all over and reuse it. The info is somewhere there inside the firefox cache, history or whatever.
How can I extract it?
Firefox version 19.0.2 on windows 7

Found a program named Fiddler2 that captured the network traffic on my computer in a nice way. Reloading the page and resending the data popped it up in fiddler, and using the built in textwizard function brought me the text back exactly like I wrote it, with swedish special characters and all.

Lost text in document...

I created a document in Pages with a border graphic and text box. Now when I try and open the document the border graphic loads but the text box doesn't appear and I get a "document warning" window. How can I restore my document?

Yes, it is a Word document. You have probably Exported it to Word, not found. out how to save in Pages on the Lion system. I don't have Lion so I can't help you there but there are lots of thread about saving in the forum.
You can open the Word document in Pages and it is then you get the warning. Open it and save it (or duplicate or what you have to do on Lion) Do the corrections of the document that was lost in the conversions, first to Word and then back again to Pages.

Saved IRs lost when installing a new version of an application

is there any documented solution for the following problem:
The client has saved some IR. Now a new application version is installed via script using the apex_application_install api.
The application_id of the exported version and the imported version are the same, i.e.200. The workspace_ids aren't the same.
So all reports the client saved are lost.

But I have same question - is this approach save to restores users' private reports?
If this is that easy, why it is not included in the application installation?

I lost text I entered in a text box when Firefox crashed and did not have Lazarus installed. I had clicked 'preview' before it crashed. Any way to get it back?

I figured it must be somewhere in my history. I've tried checking the caches but no luck. It must be somewhere, because I did click preview multiple times before it crashed and the text was there loaded on the webpage. Is there any way I can get that text back? It was a few hours' work.

I have a 1.5TB external hard drive and it shows iPhoto, iDVD, iTunes, etc., but it doesn't allow me to open any of them. How can I see what's in these icons if it won't open because it's in a Time Machine backup?
How old is this Time Machine backup? Is it current?
To be able to use applications and your iPhoto library and iTunes library you need to restore them from the Time Machine backup. To get your photos back, you need to restore the iPhoto Library from your Pictures folder, and to reinstall the iPhoto application.

AAAAAs instead of text in the latest version of Safari

I'm getting strings of AAA's surrounded by boxes instead of text in my browser - primarily in ads and in videos that use Flash. I'm using the latest version of Safari on my 2013 model iMac 27 with Mavericks OS (latest update installed) and the latest version of Flash (all of this as of 11/14/14). Is anyone else having this problem, and if so have you been able to resolve the issue? I spoke with Apple, who, as they always do, spent a good deal of time trying to find a solution, but to no avail. After spending much time with a very gracious and knowledgable Senior Advisor, they suggested contacting Adobe, and if they didn't have a solution, they (Apple) would gladly continue to work on this issue with me.

Wow. I love the weird stuff.
If I had to place a bet on what this is, I'd put my money on a corrupted system font. It's not even really an A. It's a different glyph. It reminds me of the "missing character' box that you'd see when trying to display high-ascii text that isn't installed (like Korean on an english machine without font support), but this is even stranger.
The dialog itself looks like the "Do you want to allow this site to store some information on your computer" prompt, which is definitely Flash Player.
A cursory Google search supports this:

This is also a common problem when one installs Microsoft products. They duplicate a lot of the Apple fonts and cause all sorts of havoc with capital "A" in boxes.
If that is the problem then you'll need to run Font Book in your Applications Folder. There are commands here to check for corrupted or duplicate fonts.
You may also want to try Restore Standard Fonts (also in Font Book) to see if you can get Geneva back that way.
