Lost the Project Folders

Recently I did a reformat of my hard drive and reinstall of XP SP2.
After the reinstall of Encore 2.0 (E2) I find that the project folders are all missing. What I have is a series of files with the format xxx.ncor where xxx is the project name. Altho E2 shows the listing of the 8 or so projects when I try to open them it says "Can't find the Project Folder".
My couple of recent tests do generate a project folder with subfolders Cache & Sources. I do not remember folders like that before. Is there some setting that would have changed that process?
My real problem is that I would like to reuse some of the prior menus but can't find them anywhere. Is there any way to recover them from the existing ncor files?
Thanks for any advice!

Prior to the reformatting, did you do a full backup of that drive, say Ghost, or similar? Encore builds several folders, per Project in the target folder. These are searched for, when you go to load a Project. If you have the backup, copy all of these folders to the appropriate folders on the drive. All should work fine from there.
If you did not make a backup, about the only hope (and it is all "hope") would be to use something like Stellar Phoenix NTFS to recover the folders, should there still be a trace of them, after the reformatting. Last resort would be to try an "unformat" of the drive, with the appropriate software, and hope (there's that word again), that you'll find them. Otherwise, this is an expensive lesson (time wise) learned, as you'll have to start each Project from scratch.
If you do try either the recovery, or unformat route, do NOT add anything, except the necessary SW to the drive. If it were my situation, I'd pick up a new drive, set it up with the OS, and the recovery SW only, wire your old drive as D:\ (whatever), boot from your new C:\ and run the utilities. You may get lucky, but probably not. Anyway, one can always use extra HDD space with NLEs, so it will not be a total waste, to get the new HDD.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • I use a browser application called Changepoint...a project time recording tool. It does not navigate to the project folders or interact at all using Firefox, only IE. What do I need to ask the tech team to troubleshoot why it doesn't work with Firefox?

See question. I'm assuming that I or them are missing something with the handshake once the basic appl is launched. The Changepoint appl does launch in the browser...it just doesn't function when you get into it, e.g. clicking on a hyperlink on the screen doesn't launch a sub-appl/module to show project folders. It doesn't crash the browser or window, it just doesn't do anything.

Check with Changepoint support and ask if that application is made to be compatible with Firefox, and which versions of Firefox it has been tested with.

  • Finished the cut, updated FCPX, lost the project.

    Hi everybody !
First of all, I apologize for my english.
    Here's my problem:
I've done a project on FCPX and lost it when I moved the program on a new SSD disk. My fault.
But, when everything was okay, I made a new project and finish my cut but impossible to export. The window wouldn't appear.
After installing the update for FCPX, I've lost my new project, but retrieve the old one....... I don't understand why !
Can someone help me on this ?
    Thank you from Switzerland

I see from your profile that your OS is Mavericks. What version of FCPX are you using?

  • XCode Subversion Integration for files external to the project

    Hi,
I am using the xcode integration to our subversion server. My projects all include files which are shared between projects and stored outside of the projects folders in their own directory. These files are ignored by the xcode source control.
Is there any way around this? I really don't want to use a third party subversion client as the integration is nice. Is there a way to have shortcuts in my projects to the shared files for example?
    thanks

    thank you for your answer.
so I'm trying to add a new target now and I have a choice of application or static library, so I chose static library I guess.
Now I need to know how to build my shared code classes into a lib. How to I do this with xcode?
Sorry I am very lost with xcode and a mac

  • How to restore a song from the "Project File Backups"

Help! I recorded onto an external harddrive, then copied all the project folders to a different drive. Now, I can't find the project files, but I can find the "Project File Backups" in the Project Folders. I suspect the original project files were saved separately from these folders on the original hard drive, but that is long gone, so I am hoping some one can tell me how to recreate the project from the files in the "Project File Backups" folder.
ANOTHER CLUE: Stranger still, I can't find any of my logic song files using FILE>OPEN, SPOTLIGHT, nor FINDER- Only those that still populate the "open recent" list.
    Any ideas? Thanks friends!

    Hi there
Your Project File Backups are simply the previous Project files you've saved. These files are essentially the strip settings, layouts, midi, and pointers to the audio files of your Project.
If you have trashed the audio files then your are outta luck. This is why you should Consolidate (File-->Project-->Consolidate) all of your projects into one Project Folder on your HD. That way all of your Audio files as well as your sample files and UltraBeat files remain consolidated within a Project Folder. You can then Copy that entire Project folder to another location and have all of the respective files for that Project.
    Sorry for your loss.

  • Organizing project folders

    Hi
While developing large Flex projects, I often find myself wanting to organize the project folders so that everything is neat and logical.
One of my main concerns in doing so was that the bin-release folder had only whatever necessary items there were to run the project, and nothing extra. Therefore, I found I should place any assets loaded at compile time NOT in the src folder, but in a separate folder somewhere outside the src (any non-code files in src or subfolders seem to be exported in the bin-release).
This raised one minor issue: Whenever I embed something into my code, using @Embed directives, I need to specifiy the location starting with "../", as to get out of the default src folder. I really hate this, for one it reminds me I could always use "../../" to look for stuff even outside the whole project folder, which is ugly to do; plus I think "../" is bad practice in any code and should always be worked around.
What I would prefer is a way to mark folders as being part of the compile-time library path, but not to be exported in the bin-release. Is there such an option in Flash Builder? I needn't mention I prefer not to delete the assets from the bin-release folder myself.
    Thanks,
    Liviu

    asuch:
Terence may have a good idea there about replacing the alias files with the original "source" files. I'd do it for one small roll first to see if it will work satisfactorily. If so then proceed folder by folder, checking as you go along.
The fact that the source file does not get deleted when you delete in iPhoto is one of the caveats of that system. One way to find and delete the source file before deleting from iPhoto is to Control-click on the thumbnail and select Show File or Show Original File if it's been edited. That will take you to that file already selected in the Finder and all you'll need to do is type CommandShiftDelete to move it to the Trash. Then go back to iPhoto and delete it from the library.
I suppose an Applescript could be written to do that from iPhoto. If you want to keep the alias system ask in the Applescript forum if anyone has one or can write one.
If you keep that system you might get some helpful tips from my Tutorials that I've written. The are primarily for converting to one but there may be something that will be of interest.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • HT200183 If I wanted to include apple loops in the assets of Logic project folders that are part of a tutorial available for download on a paid educational website would that be ok?

If I wanted to include apple loops in the assets of Logic project folders that are part of a song that follows a tutorial available for download on a paid educational website would that be ok? No one would be paying for the file itself that's part of the membership. I don't want to get into any copyright problems. I understand that they are royalty free and you can include them in your music no problem but the individual loops would be in the audio folder if I saved all the assets to the project file.
Also, would it be ok to include screen shots I take myself of apple programs in my downloadable content?
Just trying to figure out exactly how I should go about it to avoid any legal issues.

My gut reaction is that you may well run into © issues if you re-distribute the original AppleLoops. If your customers are paying for the training, they are also paying for the content you provide, so I feel that you would be re-selling the loops.
Given that anyone who has a copy of Logic would likely have installed all the loop content, there should be no need to distribute them with the project files. Alternatively, make your own loops.

  • I have consolidate my folders related to the video I am in the progress of working on.  Premiere elements does not follow their new location.  How do I syn them back up all at once so premiere doesn't ask me for their location when I open the project

I have consolidate my folders related to the video I am in the progress of working on.  Premiere elements does not follow their new location.  How do I syn them back up all at once so premiere doesn't ask me for their location when I open the project

This is the Photoshop Elements forum, not the Premiere Elements forum, located here:
    https://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
When you open the project, it should ask you where the first file is located. After you tell it where it is, it should be able to find the rest of them if they are located near the first one.  Then save the file.  If you move the files again, you will have to relink them again.

  • I exited iMovie and lost my project.  I am able to find it in Finder, under the Movies tab, but can not get it back to a project in iMovie.  Is there a way to restore it?

Please help!  I exited iMovie and lost my project that I've been working on for days... I am able to find it in "Finder" under iMovie Projects... but I am unable to open it as a Project in iMovie.  I am using iMovie '11, with no time machine, and I'm on a MacBook Pro.

I fully sympathise with you, as I recently experienced the same issue (as have many others).
Projects always appear as normal in Finder in the Home folder Movies/iMovie Projects (or on an external disk at the top level in Movies/iMovie Projects). Nothing looks untoward there.
However, when iMovie is opened again after an editing session, the most recent project worked on does not appear in the listing of projects in iMovie's Project Library - although it is still listed in the Finder folder . This happens for no apparent reason - no unexpected quits, freezes, or crashes, and nothing else out of the ordinary. iMovie is simply not recognizing the project. It can't even be opened by double-clicking on the project in Finder.
Here are a number of links to other topics on this issue (there may be others I've missed):

Sorry to bombard you with all these links, but as you will see there are others here reporting the same problem. No solution has been forthcoming unfortunately.
Be sure to provide feedback to Apple - in iMovie's menu click on iMovie > Provide iMovie Feedback, then complete the online form.

  • I have MTS files imported from a Canon HD cam. They import into I movie and I see them in the Finder folders and they preview fine. I have a new project and some of the clips are freezing and some audio is now gone? Do i need a file converter and convert

I have MTS video files that import from a Canon Vixia HF S20 HD camera. I imported into I Movie. They converted into MOV files and I see them in the movies folder in finder. They view fine and run through the events folder in Finder. In I Movie, I created a new project and used a "Theme". The project worked fine at first but then some clips started to freeze and some lost audio. The effected clips are the same in the project library and in the event library, meaning they are froze in both places. As I said when i view through finder the MOV files preview and work fine.  Is this inherent to MTS files using in I movie. SHould i consider using a file converter to convert to MOV files prior to importing into I movie.
I found on Apple support site info that states the MTS files can only be imported through the camera. I am developing my back up procedures and now I am faced with backing up in the original MTS files but not being able to reload if necessary into I movie. Any suggestions?

I'd like to add that after I import these clips without thumbnails, iMovie does give me an error and say that they could not be imported. No explanation as to why, though. Again, they play fine on my camera.

  • Premiere Pro CC's sequence lost. Is there a way to "search" for it from outside the project?

I seem to have lost a sequence created in Premiere Pro CC. I can't find it anywhere inside the Project bin.
We have so many same-name, older projects (between Auto-Save, different drives and so on) that looking inside each of them would take forever.
But we do know the name of the sequence. I am wondering  if there is a way to "search" for a sequence name from outside the project?
    Thanks

there is a way to "search" for a sequence name outside of the project,
but it would be a pointless waste of time.
sequences are only saved within the project file itself!!

    better get at it then!

  • After Mavericks upgrade I lost  the current I Movie project I was working on.  All that is left is the video clips, no photographs, music, transitions or titles. Three weeks work gone!

I upgraded to Maverick from Mountain Lion.
I also upgraded the various Apple Software applications that appeared after the upgrade to the operating system.  I opened I Movie to continue work on a project I was working on and as requested I allowed I Movie to update the projects  to allow it to work with the upgrade.
As it was doing this a dialogue box came up showing an error had been encountered and advised me to quit I movie.  I did this and when I reopened it the project I had been working on had lost all of the photographs, music, transitions and titles.  All that was left were the thirty-seven video clips and nothing else.  Where has all my work gone and how can I retrieve it.
