Lost the RSS news book marks

I let Verizon add some Yahoo features to the Verizon DSL service and now all the Nice per installed Safari webpage links are gone (like the LA Times, New York times etc.) I have tried reloading Tiger with no luck. Can someone just cut and paste me a list of the bookmarks? Or just a screen shot of them in Apple works or simple text... so I can copy over the information... Thanks

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Try a Spotlight search for that folder. Click the Spotlight icon to right in your Desktop. Type in the name of that file in the search field and hit Return on your keyboard.
If you can find the file, drag it back to your Bookmarks folder in Safari, then from the Safari Menu Bar click File/Export Bookmarks. Save this copy to an external source so you have a backup.
Hopefully it will turn up with a search. Look in all of your other Bookmark folders in case it was inadvertently moved to one of those.

why did they erase something usefull and easy to use?

I was asked to up grade my Firefox, when I did this the system crashed and I have lost use of my book marks and fire fox, I have not been able to fix it.

Two days ago I logged on to Firefox. I recieved a message that told me that I was using an out dated version. I had to up grade . I followed the instruction and when finished fire fox crashed. I am unable to delete firefox, reload it, or use it. I am forced to use Internet Explorer to use my computer. I have lost my book marked sites, and I am at a loss as how to retrieve what I have lost. I have tried to follow the instructions to fix the problem but I have not been able to fix the problem. I sent the crash information but recieved no responce.

Why would you not be able to use your existing Apple ID and iTunes account on a new laptop? If you authorized the computer - you should be able to use your existing account - unless you already had 5 computers authorized with the existing ID - and that was why iTunes would not accept the ID. However, I'm sure that you would have received a popup message from iTunes telling you that you had reached the limit.
I just received a new MBP and my daughter did as well. My entire family shares an Apple ID and we had no issues at all with my Apple ID and iTunes on our new computers and I did not have to sign up for a new account. Did you even try the old ID?

Fire Fox not working lost my passwords and book marks

Hello, my old version of firefox needed updated for a long time now, I have a Mac Book OXS 10. 5. 7.
The firefox worked ok however, but I went to update the new version, when I opened up the downloaded file, it asked me if I wanted to replace the other version, I selected yes, and when I did, the new one says it wont allow me to open it, now I have no fire fox anymore, my book marks are gone, and my passwords were remembered by my firefox if you know what I mean. I really need some help, what do I do now???

The version of Mac that you are running doesn't support modern versions of Firefox. Download Firefox 16.0.2 from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/16.0.2/mac/en-US/ and install it. You should have Firefox back up and running.
You should seriously consider upgrading to at least Mac 10.6, preferably something like 10.7 or higher. 10.5 hasn't received any updates in a very long time, and if I remember correctly, the 10.6 upgrade is only about $40 US. You will then be able to use a modern version of Firefox

Lost the RSS that appears on the mail and safari.

Which menu bar? Finder or your email client? Which email client are you using btw? If your email client you can customize your menu through the view>toolbars menu.
If Mail it's view>Customize Toolbar
Finder menu it's System Preferences>Users & Groups>your account>unlock the padlock>Login Items - add the address book by clicking the "+" sign. When done lock the padlock.

Has mail lost the rss feed in the mavericks update?

I no longer see the rss feed in mail. Is this because I did the Mavericks update and will it be coming back?

Can't create new bookmarks in safari. Lost all my existing book marks

Lost all bookmarks, cannot create new ones.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy it to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
~/Library/Safari/Bookmarks.plist
Quit Safari.
Select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window should open with a file named "Bookmarks.plist" selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the folder open.
Relaunch Safari. It will open with the default set of bookmarks. Delete them all. Select
File ▹ Import from... (or Import Bookmarks...)
from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Arrange the bookmarks as you wish.
If Safari now performs normally, you can delete the old bookmarks file. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put back the file you moved, replacing the newer one with the same name. Close the Finder window and post your results.

I can no longer organize my drop down book mark list ,from the toolbar in alphabetical order like I used to Why ?

Used to, I could organize my drop down book mark list from the tool bar, in alphabetical order from A-Z by clicking on view, sort by, select . Now every time I add a new bookmark it goes to the bottom of my bookmark list in Unsorted bookmarks . I can go to the bookmarks and sort the menu in Alpha. order. However, when I go back and drop down the bookmark list from the tool bar, the new bookmarks are still in the Unsorted list at the bottom. The bookmark's menu may or not have them in assorted list. This occurred several updates back. Why can I no longer sort the drop down book marks list in A-Z alph. order? This is a major obstacle when trying to search for a particular bookmark that I have made in the not too distant past.

That did solve my problem. Madperson Thank You Very Much!!!!! I'm not real literate on the mechanics of working computers even though I use them all the time. Basically I'm a point & click kinda guy and beyond that I'm pure novice! This is going to save me a lot of wasted time.

RSS News feed question

Why can't I see any of the small pictures on the RSS News feed? They all have a little question mark in the center of where the picture is supposed to be.

@egapart. Are you looking at Google news?
With the feed "Google News" it's partly Google's fault, partly Apple's.
In the RSS feed, Google provides to the browser something not 100% standard; the link to the image in the Google feed is
<img src="//nt1.ggpht.com/news/tbn/EVRrcIItcrqKMM/6.jpg">
The "http:" is missing! Although that link would (by accident) work as is, Safari checks if the link starts with "http:" and if it doesn't, adds (in this case wrongly) "http://news.google.com" in front of it. The resulting links is then
<img src="http://news.google.com//nt1.ggpht.com/news/tbn/EVRrcIItcrqKMM/6.jpg">
That link does not exist, and hence the image is not displayed.
The question: Should Safari change or Google?

Book marking links

Dear Friends,
By using adobe professional i have created book marks and given links to open particular .pdf file, ther same book marks are exis in all the pdf file, My question is if i click on any of book mark link it will open the appropriate file, being in same file if i click on the same link book marks are dis-appearing in abobe reader??? Kindly give us the solution to solve the problem while navigating through adobe reader.

Where did my RSS news feed go?

After upgrading to Mtn Lion, the RSS news feed in my menu bar is missing. How can I get it back?

I for one used Safari RSS nearly hourly because I travel international and it is sometimes the only way to stay in touch with things. Sorry that one of my most used items is missing. Definitley not happy about now needing to pay $4.99 for 'reeder' or anything when previously it was no cost. Plus, I'll have to now have another 3rd party Google reader account allowing Google another way into my MBA. To say nothing that if this comes through Google there are many countries where I travel that limit Google's reach and the reeder if blocked.
If you do use a 3rd party RSS reader where is it going to show up? Menu bar? Desktop?
BTW, where to you send comments to Apple about items they cut from 10.8. In this case it is a problem because many countries block certain news items. Something that worked with Safari because the link was different than using a specific news reader.

OTN RSS News Feed Corrupt

The OTN News Feed contains 3 stray "-" characters throughout the document. These are visible from IE, which still manages to parse the document, but prevent some XML parsers from working.
Please correct the document.

Hi.
I have a question. How are the RSS news feeds generated?
I don't want to sound narky, but I don't understand how basic structural errors like this can occur unless the pages are written manually. Content is only as good as the writer/editor, but structure is determined by the program so mistakes like this should happen rarely. I've seen approximately 6 in the last three months, some of which I've reported on this forum.
My homepage (http://www.oracle-base.com/Index.asp) uses the OTN RSS news feed so these problem stick out like a sore thumb to me.
Perhaps you should schedule a job to validate the output of these feeds daily.

Adding to Book Marks

when i click the plus sign in safari to add to book marks it shows me all books marks and expand the tree so book marks
and sub book marks all are shown and i need to scroll in long list, so is there a way to show the main book mark folders
without expanding them, or even better to type and search for the book mark folder ?

In Safari from the menu: Bookmarks>Show All Bookmarks. Arrange your bookmarks in folders with a topic or some sort of systematized logic.

I recently updated my ipad and then I connected with my computer forn sync, not realising that I had a new version of itunes with none of my apps. Now I have lost allof the apps and books etc, that I had prurchased. How do I get them back?
