Lost Thumbnail View of library suddenly!

I was transferring a photo that was misdated as a 2005 photo and when I went to look for it in the 2005 folder, I hit "organize" which usually brings me back to my preferred thumbnail view of all my shots in chronilogical order. Well, they are still in chron order from new to old but only full view is available. I have checked all the options on the toolbar, looked in preferences to see if there was an option to "view thumbnails". NOTHING. Any help?

Hi, Kristin. Your mistake was thinking it would be OK to move anything around inside your iPhoto Library folder. It isn't. Stay out of there at all times. Only iPhoto itself should ever arrange, rearrange, move, edit or rename anything inside that folder, as this quote from iPhoto Help indicates:
"Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder
If you move, delete, rename, or otherwise tamper with files or folders in the iPhoto Library folder, you may be unable to see your pictures in iPhoto."
This is a real annoyance, and it flies in the face of a core principle that all long-time Mac users take for granted: that they're in charge of where things are filed on their computers. But it's a fact, and you ignore it at your peril.
You may be able to regain access to your photo library by rebuilding it. To do so, hold down the Shift and Option keys while you open iPhoto, and click OK when you're asked if you want to rebuild the library.

  • Lost thumbnail view in library window

All my photos now display full size rather than thumnails as a result of my baby daughter hitting a key and for the life of me I can't work out how to get it back. Can anyone please help?
    Many thanks
    Adrian

I believe is is the size bar in the lower right that will resize the pictures for you.
I have an issue with iPhoto myself. When I click the icon in my menu bar iphoto starts up but the library window that contains all the pictures does not appear. Any ideas on this one? Thanks....Mike

  • Lost thumbnail view in iPhoto Library

I've been working on a very large iMovie project which is not going so well and somehow I lost my thumbnail views next to the iPhoto Library Source. I have tried everything, and like when I click on "View" I cannot highlight "show thumbnails". I have researched topics and found one that talks about the Pictures Folder & what folders contain what, and nothing on how to get my thumbnails back. It is almost impossible to organize without them. Help please, I don't know what happened.
    Thank You,
    Marge

    Marge,
In the view menu, "show thumbnails" is only an active option when you are in one of iPhoto's edit modes: it refers to the horizontal strip of thumbnails that can be shown (or hidden) across the top of the iPhoto window. When you are viewing your library or an album, it is normal for this option to be gray.
That being said, what do you see in the iPhoto window? Are any of your photos visible? Do you have blank gray squares? Have you tried using the slider in the bottom right of the window to change the size of the thumbnails (if this is all the way to the right you will only see one photo at a time).
Have you ever used the Finder to change anything in your iPhoto Library folder in any way? (This includes renaming and moving files or folders.) This causes big problems, so if you have, post back with some details and we'll try to help you repair the damage.
If iPhoto is acting quirky you can delete its preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Find it inside Home/ Library/ Preferences. Then when you launch iPhoto your preferences will be reset to their defaults, so you may need to reset them back to your liking.
One more thing to try is a database rebuild. Hold the Command and Option keys while launching iPhoto. Check the first 3 options and let it work. It can take a few minutes. This process allows iPhoto to recreate its database file, which can improve performance and stability if that file was causing problems.
Post back with some of the above info, and we'll go from there.

  • Thumbnail view for Library copied from Asset Library does not work

    Hello ,
I created list definition based on Assed Library (I copied files from \15\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\AssetLibrary\AssetLibrary ) - I reused schema.xml and other files.
Then I added my new custom content type.
The problem is following:  thumbnail view does not work now ( "/AssetLibraryDemo/Forms/Thumbnails.aspx" )
I don't have any javascript errors and any specific error in ULS log.
Can you give me advice, why thumbnail view has stopped working?

I need to use "List teplates" gallery functionality for this task.

  • How to display the thumbnail view of the documents in Sharepoint Document Library

Is there a way that we can have the thumbnail view of the documents that are uploaded in SharePoint Document Library. We have thumbnail feature in Picture Library but can we have the same in Document Library too. Documents includes Words,Excel,PDF.
    Any Suggestions Please

    Hey Mike,
Good post, I'd be curious to see if anyone has used the GD Picture SDK with SharePoint, maybe there would be some sample code.
    Hey Kukdai,
Developing your own solution would potentially provide a better way to accomplish your task, but before setting out on that long road you may want to try the simple customization, it's less time consuming and it will help gauge your customer's interest and
    support.
Also, there is a wealth of open source code for SharePoint available on CodePlex, you might want to check that out as well.  Here is the linK:
    http://www.codeplex.com/
Also, here is an interesting project to consider for your task:

    I hope that helps!

  • Adobe Illustrator thumbnail view in a Picture Library?

We are using Adobe Illustrator and we need to see the thumbnails in a picture library.  All of the other images work, but not the AI files.
We got the 16x16 icons added for AI for the details view, but we haven't been able to figure out where the thumbnail's are generated from.  Searching the internet hasn't worked yet, (must not have the right combination of search words), so I'm hoping
that someone here can offer some suggestions.
If anyone knows how to do this I would greatly appreciate hearing it.
    Thanks.
    Ted

    Hi,
According to the description, I know the .al files generated by Adobe Illustrator cannot be displayed in thumbnail view in a SharePoint Picture Library. Please correct me if I misunderstand.
Per Graphic formats that are supported for thumbnail creation in a Windows SharePoint Services picture library
The following graphic formats are supported in a Windows SharePoint Services picture library. You can create thumbnail images of files that use any of the following extensions:
.gif, . jpeg, .jpg, .jpe, .jfif, .xbm, .bmp, .dib, .png, .wmf, .emf, .tif, .tiff

  • Change Thumbnail View of Picture Library to Show Specific Fields

    Hi
I am looking for an example to add other fields than Title and Name as in this thread but from other fields in my list ..
    Thread
Can anyone supply me with an example ?
    Thanks in advance
    BR
    Erik

    Hi Erik,
First of all, you should get item ID using F12 in Thumbnails view, then use JavaScript to retrieve information of list items. Then you could fill in the fields you would like. Here is the reference for retrieving method:

  • Change Preview Image at Callout (Video library Thumbnails view) to another DOM elements

    Hello,
Is it possible to change DOM of the already existiong Callout for Thumbnail View at Video Asset Library?

    Hi,
To change the layout of the Callout, we can apply custom style to it like the following thread:
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/1ebc65d3-75b6-4851-a704-5bf412f25a34/customization-in-style-of-calloutjs-sharepoint-2013?forum=sharepointcustomization
Or you can take use of the callout.js to create a custom Callout:

  • Please help!! Ive suddenly lost my entire iPhoto library..says it doesn't exist although I can see the photos all in grey-but also the menu is in grey, can't do anything

Please can anyone help! Ive suddenly lost my entire iPhoto library while I wss cleaning up…sometimes I can find them, they're there but all in grey and so is the menu for iPhoto…so I can't open or do anything…

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Thumbnail view to Develop view... can I?

    Hey all,
I must admit I am mystified by Lightroom's UI. But I am learning, slowly.
One thing I have not yet figured out is how to get efficiently from the thumbnail view to the edit ("Develop") views. So I am constantly switching. All day long I go:
    1 - GO TO LIBRARY
    2 - SELECT THUMBNAILS
    3 - FIND THE IMAGE
    4 - GO TO DEVELOP
5 - Do my thing (mainly crop and straighten)
    6 - GO TO 1
This seems a lot of extra clicks. I would just like spend my time in one environment where I can do what I need, not constantly having to switch (twice for each image) from Library to Develop. Is there any way to do this? Is there a better workflow that I am missing?
I need the thumbnail view becasue I find the long ribbon useless. I come back with 400 pictures froma shoot and scrolling left and right in that ribbon is worse than useless: I get lost and it takes me more time that not doing it at all.
I am sure I am missing better ways to work. Any input appreciated.
    Michael

Cmd/Ctrl+F11 opens the second display window, which can be configured to show a Grid view. Clicking on a thumbnail in the second window opens that photo into Develop module.

  • Thumbnail View No Longer an Option

After a recent iPhoto update I can no longer see my pictures in thumbnail view. I used to be able to get into an "Event" and see all of the pictures within the event in thumbnail view.
By default, it will magnify one of the pictures in the event as if I selected it by double clicking. Has anyone else run into this issue. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. He probably had the slider at the bottom moved over to the far right.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Slideshow & Thumbnail views inconsistent

I updated to IPhoto 6.0.3. Next time I started, it recommended rebuilding the index. I had done this after previous upgrades with no ill effects. However, now the thumbnails for individual Libraries show incorrect file names for a number of the pictures and show pictures that were not previously in that Library. But if I run the slideshow, it shows only the pictures that I had placed in that Library and the proper file names. Also many of the pictures in the thumbnail view are now distorted. How can I fix this?
    I-Mac 800 MHz PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Old Toad,
Thank you for your assistance. Your solution worked perfectly. But for anyone else reading this, a few caveats are in order.
    1) To delete the Data folder an the thumbnail files, you have to use the Finder.
    2) If you have a very large Library (I had over 5,000 images) the process takes a VERY long time (over 12 hours for me).
    3) The process also uses up an immense amount of hard disk space. I had to move some other large folders off the main drive to an external drive.
    4) While the process completely restored the Library and all Folders, the sequencing in the Folders was lost. Not a big problem, that can be fixed fairly quickly.
I will use the IPLM to reduce the size of the main Library to reduce the possibility of future disasters. Thanks again for a great tip!

  • Modifying hover over information in thumbnail view in SharePoint 2013

I am looking for a solution to be able to change hover over information in thumbnail view of the picture library in SharePoint 2013 replacing the Name/Title caption with a different field ( in my case it is "Source ID").
Can any one help me with that?

    Hi Paul,
    please refer the thread
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/b8fdb57c-2a24-49ba-ae9d-905da3652ebf/modify-thumbnail-view-of-picture-library?forum=sharepointcustomizationlegacy
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\15\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\1033\IMGLIB.JS
and saw that InsertItem called the CItem function/constructor, and that the Item object that it was creating had a Caption property.  So I changed that property from "this.caption=baseName;" to  "this.caption=titleStr;".
After restarting IIS and refreshing my page I was now looking at the Title field instead of the name field in the Thumbnails view of my Picture Library.
Anyway, thanks to all who contributed... i've been working on this problem for a long time and am glad to have finally solved it.  Hopefully this post will be helpful to others.
