Lost thunderbolt and can't update to firmware 1.2

Hi there,
when the update 1.2 for thunderbolt Firmware got out, I've tried to install it, however it would fail everytime and reapear on the appstore.
Later on I've found that the thunderbolt ports seem not to be working since I can't even connect an external hdd.
I have one brand new imac 27" last generation, and yes, unfortunatly i had a cable plugged on the thunderbolt port when i tried to run the update.
Since then I have tried the following:
     1) Remove the cable connected and try to reinstall the update (failed)
     2) STR (several times reset ) reset (failed)
     3) PRAM reset (failed)
     4) Clean the software.update plist file and restart in safe mode (failed)
So, by now i'm begining to be a little desperate with this situation. I rely on this port a lot for work and it is still no functioning..
Any ideas?

It's SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
As your iMac is in warranty, I would simply make a backup with Time Machine and take it to an Apple Store or reseller, and it will be replaced or repaired for free. There's no need to try to find software solutions if the problem is related to hardware.
Just to make sure that Thunderbolt ports are detected, open , hold the Option (Alt) key and open System Information. Then, choose "Thunderbolt" in the sidebar. What does "System Information" say with Thunderbolt? Does it show that your Thunderbolt ports are detected?

  • How can I update the firmware all at once

I'm a tech support in a school, approximately our school has over 500 laptops, how can I update the firmware on all laptops at once?

Apple Configurator is the software you want - and it's free from Apple. However, I'm dubious that firmware can be updated all at once.

  • I have a late 2011 macbook pro and it wont update the firmware to 2.7, it downloads the update then says its installing it but when i go back to software update it keeps coming up saying it needs to be updated

I have a late 2011 macbook pro running OSX Lion, and it wont update the firmware to 2.7, it downloads the update then says its installing it but when i go back to software update it keeps coming up saying it needs to be updated. Im wondering what can i do to stop this or get it to update.

Once it is downloaded you need to restart the computer if it does not restart automatically. When it next starts up you should note a progress bar appearing below the Apple logo. When done the computer will restart once more. The new firmware should now be installed.

You don't get OTA updates on the iPad until you are already running iOS 5 consequently, the Software Update feature will not appear in the settings until you do so.
You just posted from the website that had the instructions in it. Did you read them or just scroll down to the bottom and ask the question?

  • Can't update superdrive firmware on macbook

system is macbook aluminum 13" (before it was renamed to Pro).
my superdrive makes that annoying sound every time the mac starts, and I can't update the firmware.
the update is on the updates list, but when I try to preform the update it says "your computer's Superdrive is up to date" without actually updating. and still, the update is there on the available updates list.
same thing happned when I manually downloaded the 3.0 firmware from the apple website.

You can try to bypass the hardware check.

  • My mac is a 10.5.8 what steps do I take to up grade? I have an iphone 5 and can't update my phone on itunes.

My Mac OS X (10.5.8) what steps do I take to up grade? I have an iphone 5, and can't update my phone using itunes.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
You should now see the App Store icon, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

  • After reinstalling operating system Windows 7, I lost apps and can no longer sync with Outlook 2010?

After reinstalling operating system Windows 7, I lost apps and can no longer sync with Outlook 2010?

    apps are stored in
    C:\Users\<your account name>\Music\iTunes\Mobile Applications
their extensions are .Ipa  you can try doing a search on your harddisk
unless you formattet it when you reinstalled
but an app can only ever be bought 1 times on an appleID so if you try to buy them again it will give you a free download of the app and not charge you
about sync then if you connect the ipad and click info tab and set it to sync your outlook data it should sync without any problems

I have an Ipod touch 6 and can't updated apps. When I click update, nothing happen. Any clue?
    Thanks,

There is no iPod Touch 6.  The latest generation is iPod Touch 5.  Perhaps you mean you have an iPod running iOS 6.1.6.  If so, you have a 4th generation iPod which cannot update past 6.1.6.  A 5th generation iPod can run iOS 7

I can't get into iPhoto or iMovie since I update to Mavericks and can"t update IPhoto and IMovie either. A message pop up stating that under this ID I didn't buy it or purchas was canccelled. What is that?

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Follow the directions in this support article.
    Step 2
Associate your Apple ID with your user account. Then sign in to the App Store with the same ID.
    Step 3
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder may open with a file named "adoption.plist" selected. If it does, move the file to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Log out, log back in, and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 4
Contact Mac App Store Customer Service.
