  • Help with Brother Laser Print/Fax

My printer is mac compatible. I just got the new airport extreme and would like to use my brother laser print/fax via usb. it's not working and on top of it my print utilities application is missing. any advice? thx

Just in case you missed it - double check to make sure your Brother does not have an ethernet (CAT5) jack on the back.
I have 4 Brother printers or AIO units, and they all have that connection, and are all Bonjour compatible. Even my cheapie $99 AIO color inkjet.
If you do have the jack, just plug in to the AEBS with an ethernet cable, and you may even find that it supports "scan or fax over network", in addition to being able to do all the other advanced functions.

  • Problem with Brother DCP7040 printer

I'm having trouble printing out a test page to a remote Brother DCP 7040 printer, whose driver isn't readily available in the repositories or AUR. Whenever I try to print the test page (from the system-config-printer tool), cups gives me the error:
    /usr/lib/cups/filter/brlpdwrapperDCP7040 failed
    Here is the diagnostic output

I, like the person in link, also ripped DCP7040.ppd and brlpdwrapperDCP7040 from $pkgdir/usr/local/Brother/cupswrapper/cupswrapperDCP7040-2.0.2, and I followed the advice on that thread, but still get the same error messages.
Since I'm trying to connect to a remote printer on a Windows computer via samba, the problem might also lay within that. I've noticed that whenever I try to add the printer from the system-config-printer dialog  and try the SAMBA option, sometimes my wireless adapter shuts down altogether, forcing me to restart, but that may be irrelevant.
Can anyone help me find out what's wrong? I may be too much of a novice to understand what's going on.

Is it 32 or 64-bit. If it is 64-bit, the print driver for AA7 does not work on that system. You can install AA7 except for the printer for a 64-bit system. In that case, you will have to install another PS printer (like the HP 4500 PS) with the port as File:. I also suggest you change the name to be the Adobe PDF printer that you are substituting for. You then print to file and open the file in Distiller to complete the PDF creation (watched folders are also possible from Distiller to automate the process somewhat). You have to provide a folder as well as the file name when you print, such as "C:\adobeapps\test.ps." Then run test.ps through Distiller. You will have to follow the extra steps to create PDFs with AA7.

  • Lost touch with home network

I'm NOT good at networking. It drives me crazy, so please be gentle:
I have an iMac connected by ethernet to a Belkin G Plus MIMO Router, which is connected to a cable modem. The router also has ethernet connections to two Replay DVRs, an internet telephone, and wirelessly to a laptop running Win Vista
This morning I was online with my iMac and lost internet. After fiddling about for the better part of an hour, I plugged the ethernet from the modem directly into the iMac and the internet was just fine, so the problem is with the home network. The name of my home network still appears in the Airport "menulet" and it's checked. In Systems Preferences, in the Airport settings, it also still has the name of my home network, but it says that "Airport has the self-assigned IP address... and will not be able to connect to the internet". Is this the problem?
In surfing this problem, I did find reference to security settings, and have checked those. My firewall is OFF.
The laptop, of course, does not connect to the internet now that the home network isn't showing there. Likewise my iPhone doesn't show the wi-fi signal indicator.
I'll be glad to provide further info. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Uh, it just occurred to me that maybe its the router which has lost internet connectivity. But if thats' true, would it also cease to appear to the laptop even as a "local network"?

Sorry, I should add that 1) the internet phone still works when connected to the router; 2) when I open the router interface, it shows "connected". It THINKS its connected to the internet.

  • I've lost touch with my music?

Hello - I thought I had a duplicate folder of songs and in a moment of overzealous house cleaning I deleted one (after putting it in the trash and testing, iTunes still played). Now when I try and play a song I get the message that the original file cannot be found. I still have a folder of songs in this location:
    Home/iTunes/iTunes Music
The location where I think the deleted folder came from is: Home/Music/iTunes/iTunes media... I think.
I would be very grateful if someone more able than I can help me reconnect to my music.
    Simon

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    lost/stolen
    No app is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

  • Verizon has lost touch with CUSTOMER SERVICE

I have been with Verizon for almost 18 years. They don't give a ****. I have been trying to upgrade my phone since it broke and have gotten nothing but the run around. My first experience was asking why I had to pay an upgrade fee ( $30) for a $99 phone and the chat rep explained that they wanted to keep the cost of the phone down...that makes total sense???? OK reconciled to the COST OF THE PHONE BEING $30 MORE...I will pay. Nope, had trouble with my address because my mailing zip is different from my home zip...has been for the last 18 years. OK called- problem fixed no worries. Your phone will be delivered in 2-3 days. "Why not overnight?" "You have to pay extra." "It says it is free." "That's online" "I tried to order online, you just confirmed YOUR SYSTEM's PROBLEM. I should be eligible for online." "I will have to start a trouble ticket. It could take 24 to 72 hours to resolve." "Start it."

Postpaid carriers charge an upgrade fee, and although I disagree with it due to the fact I'm agreeing to keep your service for another 24-months, it's still charged. They're saying it's offsetting the cost of activating the new device. I can assure you, it doesn't cost the company a dime to do an ESN change.
That said, representatives are at a loss sometimes, and don't have the access to make the required changes. That takes some time.

  • I lost a lot of tracks while syncing my ipod touch with iTunes. I have managed to get some of them back with a free download, but iTunes will not let me dowload whole albums which I have paid for. It does recognise that they have been purchased. What do n

As I've already said to get this far: I have lost a lot of tracks while syncing my iPod Touch with iTunes. I have managed to get free downloads of some of the single tracks, but when I try to download entire albums the system informs me that I have already purchased them and a pop-up window informs me I can get them back from my "Purchased" file. I would not be trying to dowload them again if they were anywhere on the iPod, would I? The other problem seems to be that with single tracks I don't know before I hit the purchase button if I have picked it from the right album and I have had to pay for it again.
I feel that I have been totally ripped off by iTunes and, apart from ranting on this forum, I don't seem to be able to let my feelings known. It's like a guy from my local record store coming round and nicking my albums and telling me that it's tough!
The point here is folks, that it was syncing two Apple sites which caused the loss of these tracks and from what I've read elsewhere this is a regular fault. And please don't tell me that it's my fault for having a pc. Apple shouldn't sell a product for pc, when it doesn't work on pc!

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

  • For 3 years my iMac and miniMac both communicated with a Canon printer and the internet using an Airport Extreme.  Last winter, the miniMac lost printing via the Airpor and now can't communicate with the network at all.

For three years my iMac and Mac mini were networked via Airport Extreme with a printer and the internet.  More recently, I added an iMac and iPhone.   PROBLEMS:  A few months ago the Mac mini lost its connection to  the printer, and now it cannot locate the network at all.

If you use the extreme as a router then the tc should be connected via its wan port to one of the lan ports on the extreme. Tc should be set up in bridge mode. Basically you could set it up to create another wireless network beside the one created by the extreme. There is no need to use WDS or extend the other network.
Use the same SSID and password for both machines. Computers will connect to the strongest signal.

  • How to find a lost iPod Touch with IOS 4.3 installed?

How do you go about finding a lost iPod Touch with IOS 4.3 installed? I had updated my iPod Touch to IOS 4.3 and I had read something about the update having the ability to help one find their lost device.
Is there documentation anywhere that outlines how this works?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Find my lost ipod touch with only his serial number

how ti find my lost ipod touch with only it serial number?

No, the SN will only help identify the iPod as yours if it is recovered.

  • Can I locate my lost ipod touch with the Serial Number?

Can I locate my lost ipod touch with the Serial Number?

    No.
Serial numbers are meaningless when it comes to tracking. The ONLY means of tracking is Find my iPod. If you didn't have it, then you can't track it.

  • Everytime I print a document my printer prints out a print report. I spoke with Brother and they said it is something in the computer set-up-any suggestions?

I have a imac osx 10.7.5…for quite some  time now whenever I print a document my Brother printer spits out a  print report…I don't need it. I spoke with Brother and they said it is not the printer set-up, but something in the computer. I don't know how to turn-off this function if it really is a computer set-up problem. any suggestions? I'm wasting a ton of paper.
    Thanks.

  • How to track down my lost ipod touch with out having mobile me as a app???

DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO TRACK DOWN A IPOD TOUCH WITH OUT HAVING MOBILE ME AS A APP?

You cannot. Sorry.  You could try calling it via facetime, if  you have facetime, and listen for the ringing.
BTW, typing in all caps indicates shouting, is considered rude and is difficult to read.
Many simply do not read such posts.

  • If I sync my ipod touch with itunes, it all will be lost, and replaced with the old ones!

I plugged my ipod touch with several pc's, and if I sync with my pc, so Will all the programs replaced the old I had before. But if I do, can I download all the purchased music and all the programs my free? Since I've been downloading it before? Jardar.

    - Yes. If you sync with another coputer. the contents of the iPod will be replaced with those on the new computer.
    - You can redownload most iTues puchases b:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - You can transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you will need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - If yo want to retain app data like saved games, do the following after all the apps and other things on in the iTunes library:
---- Connect the iPod t the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
