Lost touchpad features after Windows 10 upgrade

I have a U430 touch and although I my Elan drivers are installed and I have basic funtionality, I lost certain functions.  Like being able go back on a web page with a 3 finger swipe.  I went to the Lenovo site and downloaded the driver for Windows 10 but when I try to install the Elan/Synaptics driver, it opens up an NVIDIA window that checks my system and then says it's incompatible.  But I'm pretty sure I don't have an NVIDIA processor because in my task bar, I have an icon that says Intel HD Graphics. I also tried going into device manager and try and update that way but it says I'm running the latest.  Which is 11.15.0.14, and the date for that is July 1, 2015.  But on Lenovo's wedsite for the U430, there is a driver that is dated for 7/2/15, Synaptics version 19.0.9.5, and Elan 11.4.63.4.  I tried to install this driver but as I stated above, it tried to open up a NVIDIA screen after extracting all the files and to install and says I'm imcompatible.  Anyone have any ideas?  Not a huge issue but definitely disrupting the way I interact with my computer.

Same here, I'm on a U330p and the W10 Touchpad driver listed on the support page [link] has NVidia  drivers packaged instead. My current solution is to: 1) Uninstall current WU driver via Programs and Features2) Block auto driver update both under device settings [link] and by using the ms hide updates tool to select the respective touchpad update [link].3) Install the older W8.1 driver with a complete feature set [link].

Well, it has been a long road on the Win 10 upgrade. At first I got the same error message as above, but after deleting the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 in Win 10 using Control Panel Programs and Features and rebooting, I got into the continual BSOD upon reboot. Here are the steps I took to at least get stable on Windows 10. First, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 using the advanced feature in the BSOD recovery options. Once back in Win 8.1, I deleted the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then I downloaded the Win 10 update and re-installed it. Once that completed, I updated the Intel Graphics driver under the display adapters (on my G780 it is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, and the driver can be found at  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/). Currently I am running version 10.18.10.4252 for my machine. Then, under the Device Manager, I updated the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver under the Sound, video, and game controllers. That driver is currently at 8.66.4.50 and was automatically downloaded from the web when I requested to update driver.  I also changed several others settings such as Notify to schedule restart after updates are installed instead of automatic (under Settings --> Update & Security --> Advanced Options) and Do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices? --> No, let me choose what to do, never install driver software from Windows Update.  After that, I shut down the machine, waited a moment and booted back up. I have no idea why this helped or if it is overkill, but I am stable and running without a fear of rebooting now. Hope this helps if someone else is having this same issue.

  • Satellite A300D-15B - Webcam won't work after Windows 7 upgrade

My webcam doesnt work after Windows 7 upgrade. I have installed the drivers but still having no luck

    Hi
The webcam is listed in device manager under the Imaging devices
There you should see USB Video Device.
If its not listed there, then I think that the device malfunctions or its disconnected.
The webcam is an usb device and its connected to USB controller.
I read in different threads that in some cases the cable could be loose and therefore the webcam would not be listed in device manager.
I such case the display lid needs to be disassembled and the cables should be checked.
In my opinion its a job for an technician.

  • Skype does not recognize my headset after Windows 10 upgrade

Hi everyoneSkype stopped recognizing my headset after Windows 10 upgrade.  I've tried the solution deactivating the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" option. No success.  The headset works on my other Windows 8.1 laptop and my Cellphone. Other applications, including Windows 10 microphone setup for speech recognition work. Here is something strange though.  When I open up Skype audio tools and tap the microphone between thumb/finger Skype detects this and shows 4/5 green bars.   Any ideas?

Your upgrade haven't changed the drivers properly.
    1. Just go to Device Manager and delete the audio drivers.
    2. Then restart your pc and switch on the internet.
    3. Your drivers will be automatically installed by Windows Update.

  • Scan Function Lost After Windows 10 Upgrade

During the upgrade from Windows 7 to 10 I received a message that the printer drivers may not have installed correctly.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the HP full feature software for my Officejet 6500 Wireless several times.  No apparent issues until I attempt to scan a document.  I get the following error message, "The scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked imaging device.  Try again later."  Error information 8,((0, 18, -2147467259))  Thinking Windows FAX and Scan might be the other program I disabled it; no change.  HP Print and Scan Doctor gives me the same message, "The scan cannot be performed because another program or computer is using the networked imaging device.  Try again later." All features worked before the upgrade from Windows 7 to 10.  There is no other computer using the device.  The printer will scan using Windows FAX and Scan but the HP scan features are much better for my purposes.

Hello there,Well, as it sounds to me the old software is basically jamming the new one that you are trying to install..What you should preform is a full uninstalltion of the Driver 14 (Solution Center) from your computer. (Importnet thing: If your computer is also an HP Machine, Follow the steps shown later on!!!!)Okay then, follow those steps.1.Unplugg your device (If its Wireless/Ethernet, skip this step)2.Download the full solution (From here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL31304/mp-110035-3/OJ_AIO_6500_E709_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe)3.After it will finish downloading, extract the software and head into the Printer folder that is being shown there, Inside it head to the 'util' folder and then into the 'ccc' folder In here you should be able to find a file called "Uninstall_L4" >> run that file, It will open a black window, Just press Enter in order for it to start removing the software, after it will finish uninstalling you will be asked to preform a restart, save whatever you were working on and let it restart.4.After it will finish booting up, head into C:\Program Files (x86) and delete the "HP" Folder that you see here.5.Head into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files and delete the "Hewlett-Packard" Folder that you see here.6.Here we are going to make some changes to the Registry, so before we start backup your registry entries by exporting your registry library to your desktop.(Follow those steps on how to do that)6.1.Open up the "Run" window by pressing the Win-Key+R.6.2.In the command line type in "regedit" and press enter, it will open up the registry editor.6.3.In this very window on the top left side press on "file" and choose "export" , name the file "reg" and save it to your desktop.7.In here head into HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and remove the HP/Hewlett-Packard folders that you find here.7.1.Head into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and remove the HP/Hewlett-Packard folders that you find here.8.Open up the "Run" window again by pressing Win-key+R, in the command line type in "spool" in here open the "drivers" folder, in it open up the "x64/W32x86" Folder (According to your system type) and from there delete the HP Printer folder. (If the there are no HP folder's then don't delete anything.)9.Go into C:\Windows and change the "twain_32" folder name to "twain_32 old".10.Open the command line by pressing Win-Key+R, in the command line type in "%temp%" in the folder that will be opened, delete everything.11.Next step  will invlove using the Windows cleanup utility, which can be downloaded from here (http://www.google.co.il/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CBwQFjAAahUKEwj-y5Ha97HHAhWEaRQKHYHEDUE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.softpedia.com%2Fget%2FSecurity%2FSecure-cleaning%2FWindows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml&ei=acfSVb7zCYTTUYGJt4gE&usg=AFQjCNE3HK1SYneyfi0jSyx68CKkZAyLag), after it will finish downloading install the File and open the software, a Small window will open, in it Search for anything that starts with HP and remove it.... (Everything is being showed as HP Except for one file called "bdq_scan" make sure to remove this file because there is a 97% chance that its the sole reason of your problem..)12.Restart your computer.13.Start the installation and follow the steps being shown.___________________________________________________________________________________________For those who are using an HP Computer. On step 4, Head into C:\Program Files (x86)\HP and remove only the "Digital Imaging" folder.Skip step's - 5,6,6.1,6.2,6.3,7,7.1, and 11 completely. And this should solve the issue, best of luck.

  • Synaptics touchpad doesn't scroll after Windows 10 upgrade

I installed the Windows 10 upgrade today (From Windows 7) and now the scroll function on my touchpad doesn't work and it's driving me CRAZY not to be able to scroll!  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Synaptics driver without success. Help! Thank you!

Hi: That happened to me too on my HP 350 G1. On mine, I went into the control panel, and I changed the view to Large Icons (because it is easier for me to find stuff that way). Then I found a Synaptics Luxpad control panel icon. I clicked on that and found that the scrolling feature was unchecked. I checked it, hit apply and close and now I can scroll again.

  • Synaptics touchpad doesn't save scroll settings after Windows 10 upgrade

Since the Windows 10 upgrade (upgraded from 7), the Synaptics Touchpad does not save scroll settings. Every time I shut down and restart the machine the next day, I have to go into settings to re-enable touchpad scrolling. It's always unchecked on restart. Please advise on how to fix this!

My solution, copied from one of many threads regarding this problem - You have Synaptics Port Touchpad driver installed via Windows Update. Here's is a work around until a fully Win10 compatible driver is issued. Win+X/ Device Manager/ Mice and other pointing devices/ Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad. R click/ Update Driver Software/ Browse my computer for driver software / Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Select the top or latest version of Synaptics PS/2 Port Compatible Touchpad Version 19.0.12.95 (7/15/2015) / Next and driver will install automatically. Reboot to finish install. Go to Settings/ Mouse Properties/ Synaptics Device Settings to access Touchpad settings, adjust to your liking/ Apply/ OK. Advise to tick 'Static tray icon in taskbar' for easy access to the settings tab until you're completely happy. This 19.0.12.95 is the latest one on the HP site for my model (your # may vary) and it installs 2 versions. The one Windows Update uses is the same date Port Touchpad version but the 'Compatible' one is installed at the same time. You can tell the difference immediately because it allows you to create a profile. The old 8.1 version did not and neither does the 'Compatible' one. The touchpad setting screens look the same as before (you'll notice the new one looks different and 3 finger press opens Cortana). Why do I consider this a workaround ? Because the 3-finger press app setting, one finger EdgeMotion and demo vids do not work. But at least you can set the scrolling, pinch zoom, speed and sensitivity to your liking and if you reboot, you'll see the system tray icon and your preferences have stuck. Hope this helps somebody !

  • Restore Computer Back to Vista after Windows 7 upgrade and back again?

I got Satellite L505-S6946 that came with Vista Home Premium installed (I immediately made backup-5 disks in all). I got the free Windows 7 upgrade disk from Toshiba and upgraded my laptop. I messed up and did not make the backup disks like I should have. I had to reinstall windows 7 more than once (shouldn't let others use my computer!) and it hasn't seem to run quite the same after reinstall. I also noticed that for a driver Intel ICH9 Family SMBus Controller 2930 it says no device driver installed. I didn't notice that before. And I have tried to install it. Whatever the cause, to me it just doesn't seem to run the same. I was wondering if I could go back and reinstall Vista from my disks and then upgrade to windows 7 with my upgrade again (and this time make backup copy!)? I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question but I am not really computer savvy. Thank You. Jakey58

Just adding my two cents worth...
We have lots of machines running Windows Vista. (I'm typing this message on one.) They work just fine. I never even consider upgrading them to Windows 7.
Just because the Geeks don't like Vista and just because Microsoft wants you to use the latest and greatest doesn't mean you must upgrade.

  • Ideapad z400 touch after windows 10 upgrade

I am using the ideapad z400 touch and have been upgraded to windows 10. "Intel graphics card => I reinstalled the windows 8.1 driver from lenovo site", and my brightness problem is solved. I am facing the problem with the intel HD graphics 4000 display driver that I install from lenovo site. The driver seems like not fully compatible with windows 10. My screen will turn off after 5 minutes and when I move the mouse to wake it up I face the problem, the screen will freeze for a while and start to wake up and showed me the message "intel display driver.....has stopped responding and has recovered" This happens everytime after my screen turn off. Besides, my pc can't go to sleep mode. When I select sleep for my pc, the screen went black and it takes a long time to sleep but actually it is not, then it will shut down on its own. I have to press the power button to turn it on again. I think this problem is also related to the display driver. I have no problem with this display driver on windows 8.1. Will Lenovo come out the new driver that compatible with windows 10 from Lenovo site? The latest operating system they provide the drivers is untill windows 8.1. If they do not support the windows 10 driver I will roll back to windows 8.1 with no choice but I sincerely hope that I can keep using windows 10 on my pc I like it. Microsoft gives us one month time to roll back to windows 8.1. I don't know can I upgrade to windows 10 again if I found that Lenovo comes out their new drivers
