Lost updated iWeb work
Hi!
I don't know what to do and really need some help! I've been updating my website on iweb for the last month now but when I logged on today I could only find the work that I already have published, and not the data that I was still working on! I had added pages and deleted things..
I don't know if it's because I updated to Lion or iLife11 that my work has gone missing..
But anyway I tried googling the solution today, which told me to find a file called Domain.sites2. I've searched for it in spotlight, still can't find it.
I went to Macintosh HD/Users/Your username/Library/Application Support/iWeb/.. or well I tried.. but I can't find iweb in it! Everything else is there.. iwork etc..
What's happening? Is my work gone?
Grateful some help and insight to my problem!
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
NOTE: If you repair disk permissions with Disk Utility on your boot drive you will have to rerun the script with Terminal to make the Library folder visible again.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.

Updated iWeb 2.0.2: LOST Website - Please HELP
Hi Folks,
I just ran software update today and installed all the updates. Upon opening iWeb and accepting the new license agreement, I was greeted not by the website I have spent months building; but the Template select screen. My business website is no where to be found. This is very frustrating. I noticed one other person had the same problem. Hope this can be remedied. Definitely going to set me back a few weeks. This is the first time in 6 years I have had a problem with anything Apple...Please Help!

brfloydThis is quite strange. I keep my websites in separate folders and launch iWeb from there. When I tried V2.0.2 I used one of these sites to launch it. I keep a file in the iWeb folder which is a sort of a dummy. This file was not effected nor erased by the update.
So many people have problems with these domain files. I wish iWeb had a popup telling people to back them up. I keep copies of them in my Home Folder and also on two external drives.
I use the application Super Duper to make incremental backups every week.
I once lost two months work when my hard drive failed. The bigger the disaster - the greater the lesson learned! -

Uploading previous iWeb work after a system restore?
How do I upload previous iWeb work after a system restore?
I backed up my data on a Hard-drive then I did a factory reset or restore of my hard-drive....
Now I am attempting to open my previous iWeb work online and it is not working please help.....Your domain.sites2 file is the file that iWeb stores all its data and it is this file that you need if you want to continue updating your website in iWeb.
It is found under your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and then the domain.sites file.
Your user library is the one with the house and this is where your personal user information is stored as opposed to your System Library which is general and where iWeb is not.
If you don't have your domain.sites file then you will have to re-build your site from scratch as iWeb does not have the ability to read or open html files - so a previously published site - it is a one way street creating html files upon publishing. -
Help - lost all my work in pages!
When I updated my pages software last week it seems to have reverted back to older versions of documents.
Those older versions seem to have automatically uploaded to iCloud and so I now have lost all the work I did on them in the

Is there anyway I can go to iCloud and access prior versions of documents. Ie view iCloud as it was on a certain date?
Alternatively is there a deleted folders bin in pages where perhaps I moved it to by mistake.
Huge amount of work lost!!After two hours and 3402 words Pages decided to simply stop responding to key strokes - no warning, work was saved every 250 word - give or take.
After exhausting all menus in pages I terminated the app and restarted it.
The document, at least 1602 words of it, was there. The other 1600 words were gone.
1) there was no warning some sort of fatal limit was being approached.
2) only part of the work - possibly irreproduceable- was recovered
3) because this was on an airplane there was no connection to iCloud.
4) there does not seem to be any documentation available to help when there is no Internet connection
I have no confidence that Pages in iPad is reliable enough to do any critical or time sensitive work. So far it has cost me (unrecoverable ) several hours of valuable work. -

AfghanproPlace the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Hi, I m just wondering if you think that Apple will update iWeb with "add-ons" with paypal button, templates, and others capabilities in the near future. iWeb is great but I think it's too restrictive in some ways and I'm surprised thatn Apple locked it!

You can copy paypal's graphics but it's much nicer to create your own button with a shape. You'll find an example on the top right of my page here:

There are a lot of things we'd all like to be able to do with iWeb. It would be nice if we could just add a plugin for things like paypal, skype, etc. But both of these can be done now with little work. If you search, you'll find my step-by-step on including a skype button that involves putting an extra file on your server of .mac, but no html hacking.

I had computer problems on this computer when someone broke into my apartment and flooded the floor with water and then put a virus on my computer that made it connect one one website.
I am here because of NAVY INTELLIGECE , I was mentally disabled for 10 years before joining. I am in a building they made me do research on which killed my mom and dad because OLD WOMEN was getting pregnant from me who had tricked me when I was 13. They caused watergate.
The CRIMES OF THIS AREA ARE BEING INVESTIGATED AND 80 FEDERAL WARRENTS ARE GONG TO OCCUR. All of the CRIMES was connected to APRIL 8 which is the day they give money from COLORADO TAX REBATE for DISABLED PEOPLE for real estate tax. They had CRIMINALS that was using the LOCAL H AND R BLOCK in this town and had commited some murders and connected them to a place in NEW MEXICO. That is where they sent the TAX peopel from NM to FLORIDA WHERE i was living.
Now see all this APRIL 8 STUFF is connected to KEN who has 160 million who lives in FLORIDA because they could not catch the local people if they did not connect more crime and get them in too deep.
So see they wont give in, I caught some of them on my research 2 days ago dong murder and hiding it, they was COURT PEOPLE and then MORE MAFAI came, it broke in and flooded my floor and connected them up to more crime which made me have more problems.

Lost updates in cluster environment known problem?
we are running weblogic clustered. We have an entity bean that is set to read-write
(which means that in clustering no caching will be used as per your docs). We
are hitting this entity bean from both servers at the same time, an update by
one, and a read by the other. What is happening is that the update appears to
get lost for lack of a better term. We have the update in a method that requires
a transaction, and after this method is finished (which means the trasaction/db
commit has completed) we have a finder method that returns the updated record.
Then, we shut down the servers and look in the db, the row has NOT been updated.
We found something in your docs about "lost updates". It said to set the isModified
method in the ejb to always return true, this also did not help.
Okay, we found issues just like this in posts to the bea newsgroups from 2000.
We tried what was recommended by Rob Woolen, and it worked. We set the <delay-updates-until-end-of-tx>false</delay-updates-until-end-of-tx>.
This has stopped this from happening. Any thought? Is this really a true fix?

We have db-is-shaed to true.
Also, its not that one server is overwriting what the second server does, its
that one server is doing multiple reads as the other server doing the update.
Then the update never gets to the db, even after the servers are both brought
down, its still not there, even though we do a find after the update tranaction
completes, and it returns an updated row! Ugh...

It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.
This may be of some interest to you: Life After MobileMe. And as a replacement for iWeb give Flux 3 a try. You can use it in demo mode for 30 days. If you do decide to try it view the video tutorials at their site and the 3rd party videos at YouTube. I found them to be very helpful.

Will apple update iweb anytime soon or ever?
i know apple hasn't updated iWeb for a verylong time. I haven't seen any rumors on if apple will ever update it. Does anyone know if iWeb is over???
iWeb was only ever created in the first place to go with MobileMe to support web publishing, so when they decided to get rid of MobileMe and replace it with iCloud, there was no need to keep iWeb any longer, which is why they withdrew support for it and stopped selling iLife.
Perhaps it is time to start finding out a litte about html. All you do is click on the html snippet and drag and drop it onto your iWeb page and then copy and paste code there and click on Apply. If you want to make good websites these days, then you need to know some html.
If you have iWeb, you can continue to use it for as long as it works with the Mac OS's. -
So I have tried everything to get the 4.3 update to work on my Galaxy S4. I even factory reset the entire phone, deleting absolutely everything, and the update STILL doesn't work. It takes forever to download, then it verifies the download, then it starts the installation. Then after a minute or two of "installing" the little android icon falls over with a red triangle above his belly and it says "Error." Then the phone restarts, and it says "Update unsuccessful: There was an issue installing the update, and your phone has not been updated" or something. How do I fix this??
And to add insult to injury, now I can't even use the google play store to download the My Backup Pro app to restore all my data from my SD card! I'm about ready to throw the **** thing out the window. (But this is probably just due to Verizon coverage being awful and slow in NYC, which is why I wanted to update in the first place, as I'm told it's supposed to open up a new LTE band to hopefully makes things less miserably slow!)Not so fast with throwing the phone, Grither! I had a drive failure and lost the iWeb file along with other things.
I did manage to save a lot of user file documents but I don't see or
recognize the iWeb site file. It was on a 15" G4 Titanium pb.
I'm trying to find a way, using version 2.0.4 of iWeb on a different
pb to recover the file into the iWeb app or a way to download the site into iWeb.
There are 6 pages of images and text, and it
would be a task for me to recreate the whole thing again. I did
download the site but I don't know how or if I can get iWeb to see it and open it.

[email protected]Unfortunately iWeb cannot read or import previously published files, only generate them. You'll have to recreate your site from scratch.
However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site.

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

iTunes is updated and works fine and I am able to log onto my account. When I go to purchase a song, I get the error message "Your Apple ID has been disabled". I've tried different methods: changing passwords, making a new account with another email address, and emailing itunes tech support. I am curious as to how many others have been experiencing the same issue. When I googled the error, it seemed like it was happening extremely often with many people.

I had some fraudulent charges on my itunes account, so I call my bank and disputed the charges. Right after I did that, I started getting the message "Your apple ID has been disabled." I just realized today that the charges are not fraudulent, they are "in app purchases." One of my daughters downloaded the game Top Girl which is FREE, but in the game Top Girl you use money in the game to purchase things. It just so happens that the money you use to purchase things is real money MY Money!!!. My daughter thought she was using play money in the game and had no idea she was using real money. She spent $106.00 buying stuff. Now I have to call the bank and tell them to release the hold and pay Itunes. I'm hoping this solves the problem.
