Lost wireless capability on WRT54G (wired works fine)

So at some point in the night, I lost all wireless capability on my WRT54G V8. Both my roommates computer and mine can not connect wirelessly, but through a ethernet cable it's fine. My adapter sees the network, but never gets past 'Acquiring network address'.
I searched the forums for similar problems, but all I could find was people with brand new machines, whereas mine was working when I went to sleep, and now not so much. Oh, and I called tech support, and they were nice enough to tell me that my warranty expired two days ago, thus they can't help me for free. Fantastic.

As you have mentioned that it was working previously, then i think you need to do is Click on Start and goto the Control Panel and double click on Network Connections, right click on Wireless Network Connection and click on Properties.Now on this window, click on the second tab Wireless Network and give a check mark on "Use windows to configure my wireless" and then remove all the network names from the Preferred Networks Window. Then click on OK...Right click on Wireless Network Connection again and click on View Available Wireless Networks and try to re-connect to your network...Now it will give you the opportunity to put the network/wep key, make sure you enter the correct network key and confirm it...It will connect... Check if you are able to Browse Internet.

WRT54GL Wireless not working, wired works fine

My WRT54GL lost its wireless connectivity 2 days ago, while the wired connection works fine and the DHCP server can also assign IP to new devices. Can anyone advise me how to troubleshoot and what can be done in this situation?
I have tried reconnecting under windows and even bought a new Linksys PCI wireless card but the problem remains, I am also quite confident that it not my PC’s problem (although the wireless PCI card is listed as connection #9 instead of 1 or 2 and I have only one wireless card on board), since another wireless device also has problem connect to the router in a stable manner.

Before I got your advice, the router started working again with no apparent reason other than me changing it to another channel from 11 to 6, although I have previously tried changing channel, re-broadcast SSID, disable security but still did not get a stable connection (no signal after reboot PC). I even bought a new Linksys PCI card just to give it a try although I was certain the receiving side should not be the problem.
Could you please tell me what does “beacon interval to 50 and reduce the RTS and fragmentation threshold by 40 each...save settings” do?
Much appreciated – although I must say I am baffled by what happen and have no idea if the router will fail again.

WRT54G2 Wireless goes local only wired is fine

I've had this router hooked up and working fine for a few months now. The last couple of days I'd lose internet (never lost connection with router) did all the resets, and even all the help fixes, none helped. I tried to download new firmware (I am one behind current) but it links to a dead page. I have at&t dsl, but given the wired connection is fine I would have to guess that is not the issue. I have reset router to default with no change. I am about to throw this thing in the trash, but I won't use another brand due to past experiences.

Yes I've tried resetting, other channels, and changing the ssid changing some of the settings on the wireless advanced page too. Done a 30-30-30 reset as well. Nothing has fixed this issue. Its been happening since I first bought this router over a year ago. If I turn on a wired computer the router's wireless will go down (it happens 9 times out of 10). I've also had the wireless side go down at odd hours every few weeks or so as well, Power cycling the router solves the issue. Strange. For now I just live with it but it is frustrating at times to go across the house to reset the darn thing.

TC is not communicating with Airport Utility (error -6753). I do have a flashing amber light. The wireless (printer, TiVo), internet (unsecure), and backups to Time Capsule work fine. I have done many hard and soft Resets, but that has not helped. Airport utility show the TC as amber and but won't let me findout the status of what is causing the problem.

What mode is the TC running in, router or bridged? You can sometimes have issues if the TC is bridged and the network is getting IP in a different subnet.
I would recommend disconnecting the TC from the network and plugging it directly into the Mac via ethernet. You may also need to do a reset if the dhcp is off, as in bridge.
Also note are you pressing the reset for long enough that the led on front starts blinking rapidly.. hold it in for 15sec to be sure.

I lost my browser box everything else works fine on firefox - how can I get it back?

My browser box disappeared. ?It once happened before and several weeks later it came back. Google and email etc all work fine but I don't have a browser box. I have to go to safari to browse ( I have a Mac )

I am having problems connecting my imac to a Kodak printer wirelessly. This was previously working fine. The printer states it is connected to the home network but the connection between computer and printer has been lost/ cannot find printer.

In addition, I contacted kodak support and they wished to take control of my computer in order to rectify the problem. I did not allow this as I was worried about security . Can anyone tell me whether once you allow someone to take control of your computer, then it is a security risk. What protection does my imac provide ? Thanks.

I think you can do it on a one time basis, & not allow after that.

In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.

I am constantly receiving an error message that says "Could not find a PPPoE Server." My wireless internet connection seems to working fine, I'm not having any issues. How do I get rid of this error message?

A few weeks ago my computer had lost the connection to the wireless internet. I set it up again and was able to connect to the internet, however since then I've been receiving an error message "Could not find a PPPoE Server." I went back into Preferences and unchecked the PPPoE server option but the error message still pops up.
Any idea how to fix it?

In the Network pane of System Prefences, do you have duplicate services on the left column? When you "set it up again", you might have duplicated a service and both (the good working one and the previous that lost connection) might be trying to connect at the same time.

Wireless devices keep dropping, Wired works 24/7

Hi,
We have had bt infinity in our home for a few months now, and only in the past few weeks we have been having constant problems with wireless devices. We have one computer wired, one wireless and a few other devices such as tablets phones etc. The connection on all the wireless devices keeps dropping with no response, while the wired one is still working perfectly. The problem is becoming more frequent than ever, I spoke to tech support at BT who told me to log onto my router and change the channel to 11 but since then, zero improvements.
When i troubleshooted the internet connection problem on the wireless pc, i got the message
" internet connection doesnt have a valid ip configuration"
Can anyone help? or is my hub giving up the ghost?

G3 Clamshell Lost wireless Capability

Hi all, My wife has been using a G3 Clamshell wirelessly for about a year now without missing a beat and all of a sudden lost all contact. When in Network preferences, i can not select Airport it appears greyed out now, so attempted to use Airport Setup assistant to reset it up, but that tells me that the appropriate Airport hardware is not found. I have pulled the Airport card and tried it in my G3 Imac and all workds fine, so it's not card, Put back inb Clamshell and still no joy. Can somebody help me out here as my wife loves the Clamshell and i don't want to have to buy another one for her.

Have you tried resetting the PRAM?
Have you tried resetting the open firmware? The procedure is
Start up into Open Firmware by pressing and holding the Command-Option-O-F key combination during startup.
At the Open Firmware prompt, type: reset-nvram
Press Return.
At the Open Firmware prompt, type: reset-all
Press Return.
Performing these resets will do no harm. No files will be erased and usually only corrupt settings are cleared out.

Lost wireless connection from WRT54G

I've been using my wireless router for about a year without issue, but now I can no longer connect wirelessly. I'm on a MAC OS 10. I am able to connect wired.
I've used the article "Encountering difficulty connecting a wireless computer/s to the Internet when connected to a Linksys router" and when I try to check the router's settings via IP, I get a 'no results' response.

Thanks for the help. My MAC is not recognizing my wireless router. I can see other wireless routers in my neighborhood, but not mine. I've reset both the moden and router, as well as rebooted my MAC. Even if I hardwire the router to my computer I can't go online. I can if I connect directly through the modem via Ethernet. The IP for the router matches from the device to the settings on my MAC, but still it does not find it.

HT1695 My iPhone 5 will not connect to my home wireless connection. My ipad works fine. Now the forget this network and renew lease buttons are gone. I have several things. Now it won't even sync to iTunes. Do I need to go to the apple store?

Have you reset the phone by holding the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up? Then if that doesnt work, you need to restore your phone in itunes first from your backup, then if still not, then fron as new.

IMAC deleted all photos, itunes library, and other files! need help on how to recover lost files. everything else is working fine.

After installing the current update for the Mac I noticed that all my pictures, Itunes library and some apps and other files disapeared from the computer. Anyone know any voodoo to bring them back?
