Lost wireless connection to Comcast

I've been using an Airport Extreme to connect my MacBook to Comcast's internet service for over a year and it's worked flawlessly. Suddenly, the connection dropped about two weeks ago. I've powered the Airport down and re-set it, as Forum users have suggested, but with no luck.
The service works fine when the cable is connected directly to the MacBook. Comcast indicated that they've received numerous calls about the same problem and suggest that it's linked to a recent Apple security update which affected the network settings or preferences.
My kids are driving me crazy to get it fixed. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

It could be many things, the first thing to try is resetting the AE as you have already tried.
Next is to check using Airport Utility if you have the most up-to-date firmware for your AE. If it's not up-to-date get it updated.
Next is to check for channel conflicts, if you live in an Urban area where there are a lot of wi-fi networks that is a real possiblity. You can check by downloading iStumbler (just Google it) and if you see your network is sharing a channel with several other LANs use Airport Utility to change the channel on your AE.
Last is use this tool and follow the instructions to change your DNS settings. The link is:

You should try a WLAN driver update that you can download on official Toshiba page:

If you still cannot find or connect to WLAN networks disable the WLAN power saving mode in Windows power profiles. You have to set it to maximum performance.

I'm not familiar with HH (I use a third party router) but it looks as though the HH is set to NOT broadcast the SSID. I'm sure that if you go into the HH settings (the address foe the HH should be 192.168.1.254) you should find somewhere a check box or whatever that allows the router to b'cast the SSID or not. Some would argue that you should not b'cast the SSID but IMHO it makes no difference as the SSID is so easy to discover even if it's not being b'cast.
Just another thought is that you might have to set the wireless connection up as a separate connection to the wired connection. I don't know which OS you are using but if Win 7 then go into 'Network and Sharing centre' and then select 'connect to a network' and take it from there. If not on Win 7 then, if I recall correctly, right click on the networking icon in the system tray and there should be an option to connect to a network.

PB G4 17-inch lost wireless connection!?!

Execute me if my question have existed!
I searched all this box but seem I didn't find a best solution for my problem.
My problem is :
The PB G4 17-inch always lost wireless connection when I don't use for minutes and it goes to sleep mode!
I want to share files with my friend throws wireless connection but I don't need use laptop all times.
Have anyone meet this problem befored? Did you solve it?

Im having the same problem. My Netgear used to connect wirlessly to the network and the inernet, now all it connects to is the network. And comes back with an error saying not connected to the internet.
The only way I can use the internet now is through the Ethernet connection out of the Netgear.

Did you power off everything?? Power off printer, power off router. Power on router, wait 2 mins. Power on printer to see it connects to your router.

Did you solve your printer connection problem? I have the same issue. When I first turn the system on, it is connected. But after a short time (a few minutes?) it loses connection between Mac and printer, even tho both are connected to my WIFI. I have to turn the printer and and off to reconnect it to the Mac. Very frustrating. I have checked Netgear, Printer and Mac settings and can't find any explanation.

For me its definitively not a notebook issue because on the other notebook you have a problem with the wireless connection too.
Its not so easy to say what the reason is for this
In your case I would try the command line the command ipconfig /renew
Does it work?
If it doesnt work you should try to disconnect the router from the AC/DC adaptor for at least 5 minutes. Then connect the AC/DC adaptor again and try it.

Oh HELPPPPP! I lost my wireless connection last week, it just vanished! Called Dell they couldn't figure it out, I worked on it I can't figure it out. It was there then it was just gone!! All drivers are updated, but I keep getting the error message " the network adapter intel(r) wifi link 4965agn is experiencing driver or hardware related issues" ... This is driving me nuts, any suggestions???

Well, this problem is not related with your Linksys router. It is driver error on your computer. I would suggest you check the Device Manager in WIndows to see if your wireless adapter in your computer was installed properly. If it shows a yellow triangle in the device manager you have to reinstall the driver.

MACPRO WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY TO COMCAST, MACPRO WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY TO COMCAST

I am having a minor problem with wireless conection between comast infinity and macpro in that the conection will be timed out after a periiod of time. My ethernet connection works fine. Comast adivsed me that this is a known problem but they told me to contact apple support for help. I contacted apple they never heard of this problem so they advised me to contact comcast. I am in the middle here does any one know of this issue and is there certain settings on need to change on the Macpro to prevent me from being timed out from connection iwth comcast. Also i have a much slower back up wireless internet access with AT&T that i do not what to affect if i do any changes to the wireless network connectivity. Thanks John

Run all the maintainence and cleaning aspects of OnyX for your OS version and reboot.

If the last site loads slow you have a ipv6 issue.
They are swtiching over and both the operating system, routers/airport and ISP's are making changes so there might be some issues until your all updated.

Severity: 3 Administrative access denied, and lost wireless connection

What does that mean? I am currently watching my Logs file update every other second with a new line that looks like someone is trying to access my Airport.
The date is wrong too, says Dec. 31 when it's May 31. Line is as follows:
Dec 31 19:03:15 Severity:3 Administrative access denied to fe80::21e:c2ff:fec0:4f0d%mirror0/49925.
The original reason why I was looking at the Log was because I got bounced off my Airport again. It happens now and then, when there are a bunch of wireless connections in the building, I can see them listed, but when it happens, my own Airport is missing from the list.
The other issue is that I am not interested in paying for someone else's internet access. I have it password protected, but the person I *think might be trying to hack it, is a computer genius/programmer who's built systems, so I'm a bit worried because I don't know anything about this stuff.
Is there any way I can make sure I'm not bounced off my connection again, and that noone else gets to use my connection?

As long as you're passwords are strong, I wouldn't worry about it. There is always someone somewhere trying to gain access to a router, to get internet access or what have you.
More then likely if someone did try and access your routers, and got denied, they just moved on to the next router he could find and try to access that one.
Just make sure you're passwords are strong enough.

Lost Wireless Connection Again

Out of the blue in the middle of loading a web site, I lost wirless connection and nothing would make it reconnect. (turning ariport card off and on, sleep, diagnostics, etc) Connetion status went grey as well.
However, I was able to plug an eithernet cable in and when launching Safari, it brought up diagostics again but connected via ethernet. After about a minute of use, I unplugged the ethernet and I remained on. When connected via ethernet, the airport strength indicator went back again - that is why I unplugged the ethernet cable.
Important to note that I did NOT reboot the router.
Odd for sure.

Express and lost wireless connection

I use a wireless connection through my mac for my interent. I have had no problems with my airport express running through my stereo in the past. However, i just encrypted, locked, secured, passworded (whatever you want to call it) my wireless connection. I no longer can connect to my airport express. I just get the amber blinking light. I know there is something I need to tweek, I am not sure what. My internet provider was no help. Any suggestions?

vandy101, welcome to the discussions!
You will need to open AirPort Utility - Manual Setup to adjust some settings on the Express. Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons. Select the network that you want to join or extend and you should be asked to confirm the password, etc.
Basically, the Express must be setup with the same security, password, etc as the base station in order to connect to the network.

Printer lost wireless connection

Photosmart 6510 B211a (Windows 7 64-bit) worked well 3 days ago. Now, error message shows no wireless connection. No changes in OS. Did the recommended troubleshooting. Wireless network test results show "no problems found." Shows wireless on and working, signal excellent; connectivity passed; network name found; printer settings consistent with wireless router seettings (belkin.7bd). Tried uninstalling HP software and reinstalling; still no connection found.
At my wits end. Anything else I should do?

OK, are you using security software that may have a firewall associated with it? If so, disable the firewall temporarily as a test.
