Lost work

I was working on multiple art boards. Illustrator asked me if I wanted to revert. I accidentally hit okay, and all of my artboards disapeared. I tried doing undo, but nothing happened. How do I undo this? I need that work back.

Nope. It's gone and you have to start from scratch. Revert realyl does reload the file as it was last saved with no way back.

  • How to retreive lost work after FXP X crashes

So normally when final cut 7 crashes I would search in spotlight for the autosaved file which was being saved every 5 minutes and reopen the project.
Now I have just lost hours of work with FCP X after a crash.
I see in the final cut events folder there is a file called current version but when I open that it has a timeline that is hours lod and missing hours of work.
What is the auto save interval on this program?

Will Power PT wrote: Maybe I can invoice Apple for my hours of lost work due to the program not autosaving as they say it does !
    So angry !
I understand your frustration but if you're getting crashes, Autosave problems and the like, there is more than likely some conflict on your system drive.
As a FCP & user, I'm sure you're aware that it's vital to keep everything safely backed up - on a different drive.
Rather than take it out on Apple, your energy would be put to better use if you search out the reason you're getting crashes. Autosave on FCP X is so good that even in the event of a crash, your work is normally saved to within a few moments of the crash.
If you've lost hours of work, obviously Autosave was not working for hours before the crash. Restart FCP X and check this out - do some work for a few minutes, close the application, and reopen it. If the work's there, Autosave is working and I suggest you work for twice as long, then test again.
Some people think that if the Undo button is greyed out, it's an indication that Autosave has ceased to function. This is not reliable. There are several operations that are not undoable - and also, Undo can be working fine, but Autosave isn't (I know from experience).
If Autosave is not working on your setup, create a new account on your Mac and use FCP X from there. If it works OK, there is definitely some conflict you need to address. Do you have FC Studio or an older version of FCP on the same drive as FCP X? This is known to cause problems and not advised by Apple.
A clean reinstall solved things for me. FCP X has worked satisfactorily ever since (although there are still some annoying glitches).

  • Help, Is there anyway to "unsave" slides....Need to recover lost work.

HELP! Is there anyway to "unsave". I accidently hit save on the wrong keynote file I had open and it overwrote all the slides I had done up to that point. A ton of lost work.
Is there anyway to recover those slides. I'm new to Mac.
    Thank you!!

As long as the file is still open, you should be able to "undo" past the save point. Once you've saved the file and reopened, though, that information is no longer available in memory.

  • How can I recover lost work in Soundbooth 4?

While editing an MP3 file in SB4, Soundbooth crashed, and crashed hard.  First the green soundwave editing pane went blank, then I received multiple "Adobe Soundbooth has encountered a fatal error and must close" alert windows (over 100) until the computer froze and I was forced to reboot (Windows 7).
When I rebooted, the MP3 file I was editing was in its original state and all 3+ hours of editing work was lost.  This, despite the fact that I had manually saved the file multiple times as my editing progressed.  Where did all of those manual "save" operations write their data?  My expectation is that if I perform a "Save" operation while editing an Mp3 file, that all changes I made before that time are persisted to the file!   It appears this is not the case.
Is there a "secret" location that Soundbooth saves files out to where I can attempt to recover them from?  Thanks for any help

I would really like to know this as well! I just finished mastering a new mix for my website at Wedding DJ San Diego and clicked over to another app really quick, when I clicked back to Soundbooth, it blinked and disappeared completely. After reopening the app, my file is nowhere to be found!
If anyone knows how to recover the file please let us know!!!

  • Lost Work! PLEASE HELP

I was using apple works word processing to work on a major assignment..i had finished for the evening was positive i saved what i had completed since i last saved and continued to quit the program...No prompt came up stating "would you like to save changes to the document..." so i assumed i had already saved....However, when reopening the document to make some revisions, I was frightened to see the first two lines of my work present!...is there any way i can recover that work?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Weslie
My guess is that you did one of two things while this file was open in AppleWorks, renamed the file in the Finder or moved the File in the Finder. Either of these will "break" AppleWorks connection to the file. Unless you had a program running in the background that records keyboard input, I'm afraid your work is lost & you will have to re-do it. In the highlighted AppleWorks Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) folder near the top of the entry of this forum is the User-Contributed Tips & Answers folder. In there are two articles dealing with this:
]Dale Gillard - Document content not saved
Vic Menard - AppleWorks fails to save properly

  • Able to recover or backup lost work?

I wasn't able to save my work before my comp. shut down on me? Any way at aLL that I can recover this at all?
    Thanks

the filesize will tell you if any of the audio files still exist. the midi bits are lost for good.
if the file is big (more then a few MBs), control-click the file and select "Show COntents", then open the Media folder. you can drop any stored audio files into a new project

  • How can i get lost work back

i do online classes and i tried to submit my work and then i lost it do to an error

What kind of work? Did you make "Real Instruments" recording? These may have survived the crash - GarageBand writes the recordings immediately to the drive, even before saving.
Ctrl-click your project and select "Show Package Contents"; then your recorded audio tracks should be visible in the "Media" folder, like in this example - a project before the first saving:
However, with software instruments and loops I see no help; these will only be written to your disk when you save the project, and thus, they will not appear in your Time Machine backup until you safe them.

  • How can i find lost work do to an error

I was doing my class work and when trying to submit it i lost it do to an error

    You only get one download.
It will only be where you put it.  Did you fail to maintain a backup copy?

  • Finicky mouse/lost work

I know that if you swipe the mouse surface with your finger sideways, you go to a page ahead or behind, like swiping on the ipad.  Every once in a while though, I did not purposely swipe and the page I'm working on goes away.  If I try to get back to that page, info I entered is GONE!!  So, for example, I've been on my online bill pay, entering amounts on different accounts to pay. Swoosh, gone.  When I go back to that page, my info is gone and I have to start over.  Recently, I have been working on an online submittal for a grant.  The website doesn't seem to allow me to save my work, so I continue on until it would be finished.  I've worked hours on this and have lost my work twice!!  This happens when I use the mouse to click in a new space to work instead of using the tab button.  Can anyone help me "find" all of the work I lost on the grant submittal?  It's been very frustrating to say the least.  How do I avoid this from happening in the future?

Don't know if your files are recoverable, probably not without a lot of digging. The two finger mouse swipe is an option you can toggle in Application / System Preferences / Mouse
If you don't miss the function you can leave it off.

  • FCEx HD lost work, How do I uninstall?

I recently spent days working on a video. i saved the project at the end of the day but when i opened up FCEx HD the next moring all the previous days work had gone. The footage is still there because the amount of available space on my external HD is at the same level it was the day before. does anybody know where i can find all the clips of have i lost them permenantly? Secondly when i installed FCEx HD i installed the entire application on my macbooks HD, samples included. As you all know this takes up a considerable amount of memory. Is it possible to uninstall FCEx HD including all the sample but then re-install it so the programme is on my macbook HD but all the samples are placed on my external HD? Any help would be much appreciated.

You uninstall FCE HD like this:-
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301182
When you reinstall, you can put the 3 applications on your laptop and the large media files (samples) on an external HD.
Incidentally, if you find that the installer insists on installing the media files on your laptop you can simply go ahead and do it. Then copy them across to your external HD and delete the originals.
You will need to do a few simple things so that the programs will know where to find them, but we can give you that info later if you need it.
    Ian.

NOPE!  If you have no backups, how can you go back to the previous day?

Any reason why you have not updated to OS 10.6.8?

  • CS2 Version Cue: lost work space. (???)

Safari was crashing and error was wrong flash player plug in. SO...
I reinstalled flash player, then doing some things with the software apps and did a hard disk test, I did 'something' wrong. My computer crashed and when I restarted it, I had a totally different screen configuration. It was like starting from scratch. Lost a lot of stuff.
Safari browser bookmarks and bookmarks bar was gone, all folders in Mac Mail gone, even messages. It's like everything was wiped clean. I do have the information on my hard drive and trying to restore things, BUT... Now...
Safari crashes and gives me error message about needing Version Cue CS2 work space to run. I don't know what this means.
I must have thrown something out that had the work space with it? I was being so careful what unneeded excess stuff I tossed.
Went to Version Cue console.log this morning and this is what it says:
    Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 (Build 8S165)
    2013-11-16 11:01:10 -0800

2013-11-16 11:26:04 : VCStatus can not run without an installed Version Cue CS2 workspace.
I can't reinstall just Version Cue, but I can uninstall it.
From what I understand, and that's not much being I'm not computer literate, CS2 needs Version Cue? Even though I had it turned off? (me thinks)
Can I uninstall Version Cue and still use all my other software?
I've had CS3 on my bookshelf for years. Never installed it because I wasn't sure how without messing other things up. Not sure what I would need to back up, etc.
Does CS3 have Version Cue? Would uninstalling CS2 and installing CS3 fix things?
My Processor is PowerPC, not Intel.
I am so frustrated and don't know what to do. Can anyone help me out here as to what I can do to make Safari happy?
    Thanks!
    PJ

    No bites yet. Okay.
    Simply put...
Can the rest of CS2 and Safari run without Version Cue if I uninstall it? Yes or No.
Does CS3 have Version Cue? Yes or No.
If I uninstall CS2 and install CS3, will Safari be happy?
I'm getting myself into a mess here without help cause I'm frustrated. Really need some help.

  • Lost work on illustrator file..Please HELP!

I was working on a logo in Illustrator & had forgot to save it again...my laptop died, when I turned it back on & went to open the file a few days later all of my recent work on the file had been lost!  Is there anyway to recover this work or would it have saved anywhere when my laptop shut off...if anyone has any ideas please let me know I have lost hours of work...thanks!

If it was never saved, it's irrevocably gone — it just doesn't exist anywhere any more.

  • Ipad and iphone syncing problems results in lost work

    Hello all,
Sorry if this is treated elsewhere but i couldnt quite find it. I got pages for the flexibility of being able to use both the ipad and iphone to work on the same document and it worked fine at first but now the iphone is having trouble syncing automatically. Now it asks me to resolve a conflict and choose between different versions of the document. I chose the one with the latest timestamp but it wasnt actually the latest version of the document from the ipad. When i went back to the ipad it didn't give any option except to click ok to accept the changes and so reverted my document to an earlier state. I lost all the work i did today and the undo button did nothing but go back to the last changes made to that earlier version of the doc.
I realize there is little hope for restoring my work. I use a webdav account to back up to but unfortunately hadnt done an upload today. From now on I'll be doing it every ten minutes but i really shouldn't have to.
Does anyone have any advice for this? Or at least an email to complain to the developers about their syncing procedure?

Looks like I had similar problem today.  I was working on my MacBook on pages and then about an hour later I made some changes on my iPad.  This morning it looks like I have to resolve a conflict of having two documents and I have to choose one.
