Lot size Key without splitting Quota

Hi,
Can any one explain me what is the use of Lot size Key without splitting Quota.
We had created a lot size Key - XY with following seting:-
1) Lotsize Proceed = P
2) Lotsize indicator -K
3) Scheduling =2
4) No of periods = 1
5) Splitting Quota = Not checked(blank)
If we had configured this lot size key, what is the benefits of the above setting, What testing need to be done to know whether this lot size key is working perfectly after configuration?.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
If splitting quota indicator not set, then qouta arrangement is not used during planning wrt to selected lot size.
Lot size procedure you selected, it is a periodic lot sizing procedure. Here the system groups several requirements within a time interval together to form a lot.
Lot size indicator  Determines how the lot size is calculated for a certain lot-sizing procedure during material requirements planning. For your selection system creates lot size by refereing to planning calender defined in the system
Scheduling -
This indicator defines the time in the period the system is to create the availability date or the start date for the lot for period
lot-sizing procedures.
The availability date is the date on which the material, including the goods receipt processing time, is available again. In the MRP  list, the  availability date is equal to the MRP date.
In in-house production, the start date is the order start date, in external procurement the start date is the release date.
according to your selection - Availability date at period end
No of periods - 1
Run a complete MRP cycel  to check whether it is working properly or not.
Post the results what you get.

Pavan

  • Lot size use for splitting req. qty. with Two  vendors

    Hello PP experts,
We have two vendors and we want the each requirement to be split into the two vendor with 30 % for 'A' and 70 % for 'B'.
What are the IMG  and master data setting required for the above scenario?
Please let me know whether can will use lot size 'ES' with splitting quota indicator marked in OMI4.
    Waiting for your reply.
    Regards,
    Mona tiwari

    Hi Mona,
You have to maiantain first quota arrangement (MEQ1) for the two vendors with alloting the percentage to split the Planned orders/PRs in planning run. Apart from this maintain the lot size either EX, FS or ES with split indicator marked in OMI4 for the quota.
Yes, maintain Quota allowed key in MRP (4) either in purchaing view or in MRP2 view as said by Prasobh.
    If helps rewards points.

  • Fixed lot size key has no effect on planned orders generated for VC PIRu2019s

    Hello gurus,
does anyone have an idea why the fixed lot size key is not having an effect on the planned orders that are generated for the Planned Independent Requirements (PIR) for MTO configurable materials. My client is using planning strategy 56.
I have copied & customized the Fixed lot size key FX to suit the MTO production (u201CLot size as in short-term periodu201D activated) that works nicely even with configurable materials when a planned order is generated for a sales order. But the planned orders in the preplanning segment, i.e. that were generated for PIR's, are still created equally to the PIR quantity.
Is this behavior an error or an SAP feature? Though, I have reviewed the OSS Note 437098 that might be related to this. Can anyone tell me if it is related to this issue?
    Regards,
    Mikko

    Got the answer fro SAP:
Please consider the following note, which provides the explanation about this behavior of the lot-size, when VSE requirements are used:
    125498 - MRP/Docu: Planning segment and lot-for-lot order quantity
The following section of the note describes your scenario in detail:
"The planned independent requirements for a material are in a separate
planning segment (planning strategy planning without final assembly,
    requirements type VSE, VSEV).
You enter a rounding value or a rounding profile or an lot size that is
not exact in the material master.
    Material Requirements Planning:
In Material Requirements Planning, planned orders are generated for the
planned independent requirements. The lot size settings (such as fixed
lot size or minimum lot size) are also not taken into account."

  • Lot size key HB with a planning calendar

I would like to be able to continue to use lot size key HB (replenish to maximum stock level), but with a planning calendar in order to specify Friday deliveries.  However, the system does not appear to be capable of doing this.  Does anyone know a way around the system limitation?
    Thanks in advance!

I appreciate the suggestions.  I would very much like to use a "Friday" planning calendar, however, if I changed the lot size key to PK - I can no longer replenish to a maximum stock level (unless someone knows of a way to get MRP behavior like lot size key HB but with something like PK).
I also tried using the "Planning cycle" field on the MRP 1 screen, but it appears to require time-phased planning - which again seems to rule out use of Lot size key HB.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks again,
    Ed

  • Lot size key

    Hi ,
In one scenario , it is required that planned prders will be created where the req for 5- 8 days is clubed together and order date is not created on some specific day .
Will lot ize key help in this regard .
    Regards
    ShankarR

    Hi,
Connect the planning calendar to your lot size key
First, you will need to set up the planning calendar.
Menu path: Production -> MRP -> Master Data -> Planning Calendar (MD25)
You will then need to use this planning calendar (the one you created) in the material master when planning your raw materials (MRP2 View in 4.6C - Field name : Planning Calendar).
    1. When you maintain the planning calendar you will need to enter a valid from date and valid to date.
    2. Your periods will also need to be set up and they will be weekly, for example:
From Date : 11/23/2001    To Date : 11/29/2001   (11/23 is a Friday, this is your from date).
Do this for as may weeks as you wish (say weekly for 2 years).
    3. When you have set up the planning calendar, you will then need to make some changes to the weekly lot size configuration
(WB), or you may need to create a new lot size key if you do not want to change 'WB'. Essentially, you will need to use the
following in the lot size configuration (OMI4) :
        No. of Periods : 1
        LotSizeProced.: P
        LotSize ind : K
        Scheduling : 1

  • How to know if a MRP run element is using Quota Arrangement and lot size?

    Hi all,
    Two questions:
    A) How to determine if a source is actually pulled from Quota Arrangement?
I am wondering if there is anyway from ABAP table or from Transaction (i.e. Purchasing Order) in which the source is pulled from a Quota Arrangement?
We use scheduling agreement, PIR and source list, and as well as Quota Arrangement for our purchasing.
I just want to know how, from system (table and transaction), to find out the source is from quota, not from PIR or others.
    B) Quota Arrangement still can work properly if lot-size procedure's splitting quota indicator not Checked?
If my the lot-size procedure which I am using for a material does not activate the splitting quota indicator, it means split quota will not work during MRP run.
But does this also mean that quota arrangement will not be working for this particular material even if I have create a a quota arrangement object (via MEQ1) for this material?
    Thanks
    Daniel

    Tomek,
If I want to use the split quota, it seems there is some pre-requisite.
If you go to MEQ1 and press F1's on the "Minimum qty split" column, and you will notice the following message.
Allocation by quota using splitting quotas is only carried out via a requirement planning run, subject to the following preconditions:
Through the appropriate entry in the field Quota arrangement usage (on the MRP data screen 2 or Purchasing screen) it must have been specified that a quota arrangement is to be applied in the planning run.
The indicator for the splitting quota must be set for the the lot-sizing procedure used for materials planning purposes in Customizing.
Hence, the quota arrangmeent still workable even if the lot-size does not have the spliting quota box checked?
Indicator: Splitting quota in short-term horizon
The indicator for splitting is used to determine that in the case of the selected lot size, the quota arrangement is to be applied using the splitting logic.
    Use
If this indicator has been set, the lot is split up in the planning run according to the following formula:
                                quota for source X
    Quantity for source  X = --------------------- * requirement
                               sum of all quotas

  • Reg: lot size and replenishment lead time

    1. please explain about lot size and replenishment lead time.
    2. please also explain about consumption based planing and in steps explain how to perform manual and automatic reorder point(transc code please)

You use the lot-sizing procedure to determine how the system is to calculate the reorder quantity in the planning run.
A lot size defining the lot-sizing procedure is assigned to every material master record applicable to materials planning.
The lot size is defined in Customizing by the combination of the lot-sizing procedure and the lot-sizing indicator.
Three procedures for lot sizing are available:
    o  static lot-sizing procedures
    o  period lot-sizing procedures
    o  optimizing lot-sizing procedures
You use the lot-size indicator to define the procedure.
The following parameters are also available for controlling the lot-sizing procedure:
    o  Short-term and long-term lot size
You can split the lot-sizing procedure into a short-term and a long-term period. This means that you can select one lot-sizing procedure in the near future and a different one in the distant future.
You define the periods in the section of the screen entitled "End of the short-term period/start of the long-term period".
The valid from date of the long-term lot size area is defined via:
       -  a periodicity
       -  a number of periods
The beginning of the long-term period is calculated by taking today's date and adding the number of periods in the future; the long-term planning period then starts on the next complete period.
       Note
For materials that are planned using the short and long-term lot size,
it is recommended that you define a maximum MRP period. Defining the
MRP period has the effect that materials after a certain period are
included in planning even if no changes relevant to the planning run
have occurred. This avoids a situation where order proposals created
with the long-term lot size move into the short-term period because no
changes relevant to MRP have occurred for the material.
You define the maximum MRP period in the step, "Define maximum MRP
period". A material that is planned on a regular basis should also be
provided with an MRP type that contains the indicator for regular MRP.
    o  Scheduling indicator
For period lot sizes, you can use the indicator for scheduling to
       determine whether the availability date;
o  is to be set to the first requirements date in the period
o  or is to be set to the beginning of the period
o  is to be set to the end of the period
o  or whether the period start represents the beginning of the planned
order and the period end represents the availability date (repetitive
    manufacturing)
      Interpretation of the delivery times
For the lot-sizing procedure, you can also define whether the period
start is to be interpreted as the delivery date or as the availability
date using the indicator, "interpretation of the calendar times".
      NOTE
The indicators, Scheduling and Interpr.deliv.times are mutually
      exclusive.
      Indicator for the splitting quota
For the quota arrangements, you can determine whether the requirements
quantities are to be distributed to several items, that is, whether
they are to be split. With the splitting quota arrangement,
requirement quantities are not simply allocated to the smallest quota
rating. Instead, they are distributed among various sources using the
      following formula:
Quantity for source of supply X = Quota of source X * reqmts quantity
    Sum of all quotas
      Overlapping indicator
The overlapping indicator along with the cycle time in the material
master record are used to split the planned orders into several
partial quantities whereby the in-house production time overlaps by
      the cycle time.
      Lot-sizing procedure for make-to-order production
In make-to-order production, you can use the indicator, Lot size for
      make-to-order production to determine whether,
the order quantity is to be calculated using the exact lot size
the order quantity is to be calculated using the exact lot size and
the system is also to take the rounding quantity or the minimum and
      maximum lot size into account
the order quantity is to be calculated using the lot-sizing procedure
      defined for the short-term area
      Maximum stock level variant
The system only displays the Maximum stock level variant field in the
lot-sizing procedure, Replenishing to maximum stock level. The
indicator only has an effect in connection with reorder point planning
taking external requirements into account and in connection with
material requirements planning and controls how the system calculates
      lot sizes.

  • Relation between PO Qty and Minimum Lot size of material master

I have maintained "100" in minimum lot size ( MRP1 View, table MARC and field BSTM) for the material.
I am also succssed to create the Purchase order for 2.5 Qty for the same material. '
I wanted to know, how system is allowig to create the PO with lesser qty or is this view is maintained only for sales?
Please give your expert comments on the same.

Used for claculate the procurement qty during MRP and depends on the lot size procedure you select. quota arrangement also uses this lot size.

  • Lot size data

I have a maximum lot size for my procurement parts. If my requirements for a day are higher than this quantity I want to have a supply with my maximum quantity for this date and the other quantity on the next days. Not at the same day.
The system creates splitted deliveries for the same day.
    Which settings are necessary?
    Thank you for suggestions.

    Hi,
Use Lot size EX - Lot for lot order qty and assign max lot size in MRP1 view.
In MRP 2 view assign TAKT time 1 day.
So when MRP run system will generate procurement proposal for the required qty if it is less than max lot size.
If the requirement qty is more than max lot size system will split the qty & generate one more procurement proposal for the next day.

  • Lot for lot(EX) with minimum lot size

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to have Ex with minimum lot size. I have a situation where an FG cannot be produced over a certain qty but can be produced in any numbers beyond that. Please explain.
    Regards,
    Sachin

    Hi,
You can use Lot size key EX- lot for Lot order and Minimum lot size as per the requirement. If the lot size is smaller than the Minimum lot size qty procurement proposals will be created for the minimum lot size quantity.
Hope it resolve your issue. Kindly revert for further clarification.

  • SNP quota arrangement with fixed lot size

    Hi all,
i have a question regarding quota arrangement for external procurement in snp heuristic. Whe have 2 sources of suppy created by info record. The quota is 25% for the first and 75% for the second one. In product master there is maintained a fixed lot sice of 500.000. Im wondering that the snp heuristic creates 2 requisitions of 500.000 for each sos at the same day. So we get an serios excess. Any ideas?
    Kind regards,
    Christian

    Hi,
thanks for reply. Ok, normally net requirement calculation works properly. In case of a shortage the heuristic shall apply an receipt with the fixed lot size wich is maintained in material master. However, in out particular case it generates the double receipt quantity which is not needed at the receipt date.
The heuristic should do the following:
    Day 01 Stock 100
    Day 02 DepDmd 20
    Day 03 DepDmd 20
    Day 04 DepDmd 20
    Day 05 DepDmd 20
    Day 06 DepDmd 20
    Day 07 PurReq 100 !! Source 1!!
    Day 08 DepDmd 20
    Day xx PurReq 100 !! Source 2!!
    and not:
    Day 01 Stock 100
    Day 02 DepDmd 20
    Day 03 DepDmd 20
    Day 04 DepDmd 20
    Day 05 DepDmd 20
    Day 06 DepDmd 20
    Day 07 PurReq 100 !! Source 1!!
    Day 07 PurReq 100 !! Source 2!!
    Day 08 DepDmd 20
In this example 100 would be the fixed lot size from material master.

  • Lot Size for Split Cost

    Hello,
My company has just had SAP installed and I am trying to confirm whether there is a  general calculation in SAP or whether it is due to the configuration that has been choosen from our implementor.
I have costed some materials we have setup as a split cost (choice of either purchased or manufactured) and setup the mixing ratio. I then cost it but SAP generates the Lot size automatically and this can not be changed.
    i.e. 90%:10% split gives a lot size of 280 (252 and 28) and 50%:50% split gives a lot size of 200 (100 and 100).
Please can you confirm that this is normal and also if it can be overriden?
    Thank you for your assistance

    Hi,
This is a normal behaviour of the system.

    Hi Om,
I hope that you have alreayd maintained the required master data for Quota Arrangement.
Also have you maintained configuration of Lot-Sizing Procedure ? You need to select "Splitting Quota" indicator in a particular Lot-Size Procedure, which you're going to assign in material master.
    Hope it will help.
