Lots of iPhones / iPads on the network forcing iTunes to open?

I work in a big office, there are lots of us with iPhones and iPads running iOS5... since the upgrade, my iTunes seems to want to open at random every few minutes. I assume it's when any iPhone hits the wireless network and then iTunes thinks that it has to WiFi Sync.
It's driving me mad.
Yes, I have checked -> "Preferences -> Devices -> Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically"
But it still opens at random!
I can further this problem by saying that iScrobbler (Last.fm app) also detects when an iPhone has hit the network and tries to send playlists to the server.
Last night I ran a test. I took my iPhone home with me and kept my office computer on. iTunes was closed. When I returned in the morning, iTunes had reopened. It's not my phone causing the problem.
Anyone else had this symptom?

Thanks for the update. Since those steps have not helped in resolving your issue, the only other option to try is Restoring your Apple TV. The steps to perform that are found in this article:

The numbers identifying the router, etc. on my Ipad no longer appear there.
TThe Ipad guide says to connect to the WiFi use setup but I can't find the setup program in the Ipad.
I reset the network settings to the factory defaults but this doesn't fix the problem.
What can I do to reconnect to my home router?

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Turns out Safari "forces" the french web interface by using the 'hl=fr' code in the url. for example http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=fr
Evidently that overrides local settings, even if you're logged into your Google account.
So, since I can't modify the search query url in Safari without jb'ing my phone, I'd say this one's a bust.

You will probably also need filebrowser loaded on the ipad to find the files.
Is the ipad necessary btw.. ?? If you only want to play the file to your TV you can buy a WD Live TV.. unlike the Apple TV it is a media player.. and can play files of almost any format direct from the TC.

I was having the same problem with an iPhone 4 and Windows XP. I finally fixed the issue! I read several posts over the past month telling me to make sure that both the PC and iPhone were on the same network. I thought that both were on the same network; however, I was using my "Guest network" to connect my iPhone to my Airport Base Station. In order for both devices to be on the same network, the first 3 numbers of both IP addresses must match. For example, if the PC's IP address is 199.167.1.X, the iPhone's IP address must be 199.167.1.Y. I signed onto my password-protected network from the phone just to see what IP address it would use. As soon as I logged on, my iPhone started to sync wirelessly. I don't know if this will work for anyone else, but I would suggest comparing the IP addresses of your PC and iPhone before doing anything else. For those posting that the PC and iPhone must be on the same Wireless network, my PC is hard-wired to the Airport Extreme and it still works!
My Setup:
iPhone 4 (running IOS 5.0.1)
Dell PC (running Windows XP SP3) (no wireless network card)
Airport Exteme Base Station (5th Generation & updated firmware)

My iPhone & iPad don't register in iTunes. I'm running Windows 7. I updated to version 10.2.2 and still no luck. The error message I'm getting says that "This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes".
If I proceed (would welcome advise on how to do this as I'm a newbie and not very technical) with the install... I need to know if I'll lose all my itunes music or folders? Also, my husband has lost his phone and has just got a new sim card and we need his contacts which were backed up in our iTunes.....
Any help or advise would be appreicated. I'm in Australia and have done the express lane but need to contact Apple (and pay for a one time call) but the hours don't work because of the time zones.

You won't lose any of your content by uninstalling iTunes.
To uninstall: go to Control Panel, choose Programs, right-click iTunes and choose uninstall; also uninstall Quicktime (which comes with iTunes) and the Apple updater if it's there.
Restart the computer

Try a Hard Reset.....
Press and hold the Wake / Sleep button AND the Home button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen, it can take 10 or more seconds. Ignore the swipe to turn off message.

Shut down and restart the Mail app...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red to delete the Mail app from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
- Restart the Mail app
