Lots of itune errors... resulting in not being able to re-install itunes!
It started this morning, when the pin wheel would never go away when itunes was open. I ended up searching through the dicussions and finally removed my preference lists. Then I could open itunes, but all my songlists were gone, so I reimported the original files back into itunes. It then started to do the gapless scan which finally froze it two seconds into it. I then concluded to just get ride of the program and reinstall it. I deleted the program, and cleaned up all residue of the program. Then when I went to reinstall it is would get past "Wrting file 7%" and then it tells me there was an error in installing and to try again. Any idea's besides tossing the whole computer? I have no other idea's.
Download a fresh .dmg of iTunes and see if that helps.

Little after I purchased and Installed Mac OS X Lion in my Mac, the computer crashed and I am not being able to re-install Lion. I feel my money is being stolen.
I really appreciate the help and I think Apple is the greatest computer's company there is, but Ive being screwed. If you cant make an product that can be easily installed in a few simple steps just like the first installation process was, dont sell it. My Mac was working fine, I installed the Lion upgrade and a few days later I had a computer failure and the auto-restore message poped up.
When the Mac booted all I had is a blank folder blinking and I had to reinstall everything all over. Now on top of that I need to stcik to Leopard after paying for Lion and I cannot return it. I understand some people found a way around it and are able to install it anyways, but I shouldnt have to do all that. Thanks a lot though! I really like this whole ideea about Apple Support Community and will do anything I can to help others just like you guys did.

An error causes firefox not being able to open last session
Off some reason Firefox wont restore last session. The opportunity in Firefox/Google startsite malfunctions of some reason not giving the possibility to restart last session.

I have this issue on 3 computers that were just updated with FF 5.0. When I close FF, the application "Firefox.exe *32" remains in memory. Trying to open FF again later greets me with the error that FF can't open because another instance of FF is already running. Previous versions did unload completely and never caused this issue..
I found the culprit. Norton Internet Security added an add-on to FF called Symantic IPS 2.0 which is causing FF 5 not to close properly. I have no idea what it is for but FF works properly again with it disabled.
For reference, that add-on worked fine with FF 3.x as well as FF 4.x. It just doesn't seem to like FF 5.0. -
Mathscript node errors due to not being able to find .m files
I recently installed LV 8.5.1 and tried to open a VI with a mathscript node (originally created with LV 8.2). It got a broken arrow due to an unrecognized symbol in the node which was the name of a matscript function in a .m file of the same name. And this worked fine with 8.2. I updated the mathscript: search paths 'Working Directory' both in the mathscript window and the main app Tools->Options list. I exited and re-started, but to no avail. And I made sure to add it as a 'recursive' search folder, even though my file is right at the top.

A lot of my apps have disappeared and I can't re download them. Matter of fact I can't download anything from the app store
god, i love it when i find answers to my own questions! here is a work-around, not really a fix because you have to run this daemon that constantly performs read operations to prevent the drive from going into low power mode - which seems to be the source of this problem. caution: this will drain your battery if you leave computer awake while not plugged in, but this solution darn well beats the issues i was having before with spinning beachball every couple minutes.. i was going crazy! it only eats about 2-3% of cpu usage and i have not had the problem since i installed this daemon which sits in Library\LaunchDaemons (if you want to remove it later.) also the developer leaves his email in the install file and he is very helpful.

I have my Music library on a QNAP NAS, which is as reliable as they come.
System notifications make it not save changes. It also does not do a good job of interpreting albums and artists from folders. Changes to track names are not saved, nor are tracks moved to other albums, renamed albums, changes to genre, artist
or date. It separates and merges albums/tracks without sense or reason. Some changes I've made up to 4 times, then closed WMP and re-started my machine to check if it has/hasn't saved the changes. Often it has not.
This is the first time I've used WMP in this capacity, and I do not recommend it.

In the attempt of updating my ipod touch, i am faced with the problem of not being able to be connected to the itunes in my computer (windows xp ) because my ipod touch got blocked up, leaving the icon of USB cable and itunes on my touch screen. I am asked to restore my ipod first, but i have tried using all the examples stated and still can't help. Please please, can some one help me out ? Ones in the process of trying, i see an error code: 1656 and most of the time nothing. Thanks

I'm tired of this problem of not being able to access itunes on my laptop and now no internet access despite connection and strength being excellent. What are windows playing at? Worked perfectly well until recently. Very frustrating and time consuming!
Just a few lines to assure you you are not alone regarding speed delivery. By no means.
I'm on Infinity 2 with HH5 - was virtually guaranteed 63 d/l and told possibly even up to 78. My actual speeds are nearer 15 (yes 15!) to 28 d/l if I am lucky. I've played all the obligatory games of checking and posting and reviewing my HH stats - and of course wasting my time with India "help" customer services who are instructed to read from a script of inane generalities which are usually completely irrelevant and have no connection whatsoever with a user's Specific problem.
It more often than not turns out that the automated monitoring system imposes a software called DLM = Digital Line Management = which (with the endless excuse of improving line stability) increases noise margins and drastically reduces speed. This can kick in pretty rapidly and can take at least 3 to 4 days to modify itself - if indeed at all!!! Usually an Openreach engineer visit is then needed - who will re-set the Profile to what it is you are supposed to be paying for ..... then of course it is totally possible that DLM will re-emerge and the same old cycle of troubles will have to be endured.
We pay in good faith at the outset on the back of so many promises - only to be cynically let down and dismissed once signed up. It is quite wrong we have to continually argue our case to (try) to get anywhere and are always reminded that we are tied into contracts with expensive escape clauses - or that an engineer's visit is only free IF it is proved the fault is not inside your house - which it very rarely is! This is often more an Ordeal than a subscribed service. Superfast reliable Broadband in the UK ? Ha! -
I assumed this would help my problem with not being able to open apps like Preview or TextEdit since I installed Mountain Lion. Instead, first I'm prompted to enter a password, then once I do that, I get an error box telling me the Library needs repairing. So I click on Repair, and once again I'm prompted for a password, which I enter, then the same error box opens, and so it goes. Can anyone help me with this problem? I'd greatly appreciate it.

This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. You want to just use Dropbox until the dust settles. To use it from iWork for iOS (assuming you have the Dropbox app installed on your device), open the document in Keynote (for example), tap the share icon (box with upward pointing arrow), choose Open in Another App, choose Keynote as your format, then choose Open in Dropbox and you will get an option to save it to your Dropbox account. To open it from Dropbox in iWork for iOS, open the document in the Dropbox app, tap the share icon, tap Open in Keynote (for example). It's a bit clunky, but works.

My iPad says it has to restore to update, but it will not. It is caught in a cycle of not being able to restore but needed to restore. I keep getting error code 3014 but I can not figure out what this means! nor can I do anything about it! So Frutrated!
