Lots of problems with my iPod touch 4th generation

I am having a few problems with my iPod touch 4th Generation. I have been having them for a while and I would really like to get them fixed.
My first and main problem would be that my iPod touch is not being recognized by my computer (windows) and it will not sync to iTunes. I am certain it is not my USB cables fault because I have tried it with three different USB cables and all of them have had the same result. It has seemed to be completly fine until I updated to ios 6. I would restore my ipod to ios 5 but I can't get my ipod to be recognized by iTunes and restore it.
My next problem is that my ipod is charging but it does not show that it is charging. The thing is though that it will only charge when it is hooked up to a very high powered source like my computer. My ipod dock works but it says it uses 160 watts of output power. It will not be charged from another wall charger and it will not charge in the car with a car charger.
I would love some help with this. I have been having these problems for a while and it is starting to annoy me a little.
Thanks in advance.

  • What docking station works with the ipod touch 4th generation?

What docking station is works with the ipod touch 4th generation?  We have a Bose docking station which I'm having trouble getting it to fit onto.

    Gal:
I'm not exactly clear what your question is.
How does the system you have been given not work with your iPod? What is the problem?
What is your point about the 4th generation adaptor? The "adaptor" is merely a physical piece of plastic that sits in the Docking Station's dock and creates the exact shape for your model of iPod to fit snugly into it. So a 1st or 2nd generation iPod would not benefit in any way from a 4th gen adaptor.
Are you trying to find a portable iPod Docking Station that works without mains power?
You said: " the customer service agent said it would make the iPod fit, but it wouldn't charge or play music." What is your point about charging the iPod? I don't understand what you are trying to say. I presume that the system you've been given does charge a 1st and 2nd gen iPod.
The product you linked to looks portable to me. So why does it not suit your needs, is this about using it out in the garden (my question 2)?
Less complicated in what way? What exactly are you finding complicated? Simply place the iPod into the Docking Station and (presumably) select the iPod input and press play.

  • TS2634 Is there any cassette adapter that will work with an Ipod Touch 4th Generation?

Is there any cassette adapter that works with an Ipod Touch 4th Generation?  I just got the Ipod Touch 4G and the cassette adapter I have that worked with my other Ipod says it is not compatible with the Touch 4g.  Any suggestions?

It should work since from my knowledge the output from the headphone jack has not changed. Is the plug fully inserted into the jack?

  • Songs that I recently added to my iTunes (not purchased from iTunes store) will not sync with my iPod touch 4th generation. How can I fix this?

I typically download my music directly from youtube. I have never had any issue when it came to putting it on my ipod touch (4th generation). However, today, I downloaded a couple of songs, added them to my iTunes (11.1.4). When I hit "sync" it said at the top that it was "Synching iPod: Steps 1of 3." It went through these steps incredibly quickly, a matter of seconds really, and I went to check it they had synced. They had not. I tried this several times before uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Even with the re-install, it does not work. I am wondering if it is because these songs were not downloaded directly from the iTunes store. i tried downloading a song from the iTunes store and it is currently in my iPod, so I know that it is able to sync music.  I just started using this version of iTunes as I just installed it on the laptop I just bought (windows 8).

Was the iPod setup via iTunes on this computer?

  • Anyone else having WiFi problems with the IPod Touch 5th Generation?

I upgraded my old IPod Touch 3rd Generation to a 5th Generation yesterday. I've noticed however that for some reason the wi-fi connection on the 5th Generation drops off all of a sudden for no reason at all and I can't figure out why. Anyone else having similar problems? If so what did you do?

Does the iPod connect OK to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Twice experienced an unusual problem with my iPod touch 5th generation running iOS 8.0: crashes and disables power up. HOME and POWER pressed together to reset.

iPod touch 5th generation running iOS 8.0. iOS crashed twice, disabling power up. The only recovery was pressing and holding the home and power buttons together for several seconds. The iPod touch then went into restore mode. I've never experienced, heard or read of an iOS crash preventing normal power up: device has known battery charge, does not respond to pressing power button or connecting to AC charger.

    That happens some times. Try:
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Problem with my ipod touch 5th generation

Hi, I was updating the software of my ipod on my computer but then something went wrong and it get into recovery mode I try to reset it and it send me an error message, also I wanted to save what was on my camera roll or everything I have on my ipod, I download some programs that recover files but I have to pay for them and I don´t know if they really work or not but something that got my atention was the fact that when I was trying to recover the files directly from the device option it says that I need to plug my device (I think there´s a problem with my ipod ´cause it don´t happen with my iphone) but when I click the "recover from itunes backup files" option, everything that I want to recover is on it, did someone know if that means that I can reset it and recover everything directly on itunes? or if I reset it I will lost everything?
I really need some help please.

Correct. If you have an existing backup yo can restore the iPod from that backup without any special program.
    To restore from backup see:
      iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I need help with my ipod touch 4th generation??

Okay I have an ipod touch 4th gen and it is permanently disabled and I put it in restore mode connect it to
the computer and close to the end of the recovery it just turns on and messes up the recovery. I've tried
everything I know to do to fix it and it won't work. Does anyone know how to fix this. Also it is dented on the
back, maybe something inside got messed up and is making it do this. i just need to know how to fix this.
Whether it be opening it up and replacing some parts or what.

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer

  • Is there a compatibility issue with the iPod Touch 4th generation and the TomTom carkit that worked fine with my 1st generation iPod Touch?

I recently purchased a new iPod Touch. The "keyboard" of my first generation was beginning to play up, but it still worked fine with my TomTom carkit (if you'll allow for the fact that being restricted to OS 3 meant you couldn't update the software either). But, contrary to what I'd been told, the fourth generation one refuses to work. I think it's making contact because I hear the connection beep, but it  doesn't charge up or seem able to find the satellite connection. I've seen someone saying it was a physical width problem. If it's making contact, why isn't it capable to pick up a signal? Is there a compatibility issue after all?

Got you! Why this didn't come up in my search before, have no idea. So it's all a question of design... How mean not to inform manufacturers of accessories about the change in specs. About to try the folded-over business card solution and then Velcro if the former doesn't give satisfaction. Did actually buy a silicon case, but it makes the protective filter buckle as it gets under the edges which isn't exactly useful. Went back to my previous leather case which I have to remove to use the car kit...

  • Can Modern Combat 3 play on a TV with an iPod touch 4th generation?

I saw the pictures on the app store and thought maybe I could play Modern Combat 3 on the TV but I wasn't sure if it was only the iPhone 4S.  I know that there are other games for the older iPod models that play on the TV.  Also, is it only with Apple TV, or is it with an HDMI or composite cable?

The game's 6.99 instead of 60 like Call of Duty so I like it.
Once you play it through your $7 is gone, like a movie rental, watch once and it's gone in a few hours.
At least with $60, I can play for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a entire year against other people in different maps, around the world 24/7 and always have a lot of fun.
Cost of gameplay $1.16 per hour for 6 hours on your game and $.02 a hour on the $60 game.
Cheaper is not always a better value, I could spend my time in a bar, but that would cost about $5-$10 a hour plus tips.
    michael33r wrote:
Plus, can you take your game with you wherever you want?
No I can't. That's the advantage you have with a small, less powerful device, on the other hand I can drive a 1080i HDTV with full 3D graphics and you can't.
Gaming is not going to be stuck to consoles anymore.
3D Gaming is only getting stronger on consoles because of it's powerful dedicated aspect and lower prices, in fact a PS3 is likely around the same price as a iPod touch, Apple is even considering discontinuing it's MacPro like due to lack of sales.
Both devices have different uses, one portable and the other not and more powerful, both are not going anywhere.
Apple is making this a reality with the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.
Apple is stuck at a dual core atom like processor, they can't make games any better than what you see now.
More cores and more game details require heftier processors, more battery and more cooling which can't be delivered in the iPod/iPad form factor.
The only room for 3D game expansion is consoles, and perhaps Windows towers where there is no power, heat or cooling issues.
However consoles are cheaper and plentiful, affordable to more people.
Soon the graphics quality of iPhones and iPod Touches are going to disgust people with their low image quality as their expectations rise.
You don't know what you're missing out on ds store.  Trust me it's not just following some movie and shooting a few targets!  And no I'm not just some kid on here either.  I have had people think that before.
I've seen the videos of MW3 on YouTube, it's simply no comparison to a PS3 or Call of Duty on a tower.
I have no need to take games with me, it's embarrasing as it is that I play them in private, but it's very cheap entertainment during this bad economy.
FYI, MW3 can't be played on the HDTV from a iPod because a iPod lacks a video card and power that can generate enough drive to send it to a HDTV, even if it did, the image on the HDTV would be tiny like it is on the iPod screen.
If it was blown up to fit the HDTV, it would disintegrate as there is a lack of pixel quality on the tiny iPod screen enough to scale to 1080i or even 720p.
More pixels needs more powerful video cards/processors.
A PS3 has a nine (9) core Cell processor to run the game and the graphics in high detail for a 1080i 1920 x 1200 pixel screen, it requires a lot of power and heat, thus powerful cooling.
There is no way a tiny atom like weak processor like the iPods A5 can handle it.
You might be able to take your limited iPod game with you, but your question was IF you could output the iPod game on the HDTV which I answered negative.

  • Has anyone else has seen this problem with their iPod touch 5th Generation with iOS 7.0.4. My screen started making flashing white lines across the screen, then went dim, then pixeled with purples

The ipod will show flashing white lines across the screen, going down, it then does somthing where the screen will dim down but its not like when the backlight goes on and its about to lock. It dims the background of your ipod and the icons and letters kind of all look defined. Then the ipod gets all pixelized and it has big boxes on pixels and its all differnt colors like purples and greens, red, etc. then it turns right off and restarts itself less than 5 seconds later. These things happen really fast but when it does it's really weird. It first happened 3 times in a row, Its still continuing to happen but i can manually turn off my ipod by holding the lock button down and not even 30 seconds later it's like its possessed and it turns on by itself. I talked to somone on appel and they told me to back it up and restore it. I restored it and as soon as the process ended and tuirned on like a brand new ipod and like clockwork the glitch happened instantly. It did it a couple of times throughout the night and i kept having to watch it so i can keep turning it off manually because it continues to turn on by itself. I talked to 3 different people on Apple Support and they couldnt even find an answer for me. It's so weird.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

This iPod 5th Generation appears to have a black screen. Whenever i charge it. It goes to charging screen that Battery symbol and the lightning bolt below the Battery symbol. You cannot turn it on or reach to the apple logo. Cannot do a Hard reset (Sleep button + Home button at the same time). It stays as it was. Charging for 5 Hours now...What a big waste.
