Lots of trouble with aperture

APERTURE *****!!!
And that is not easy said from a real mac fan. I am working with Aperture now for a year, specially bought the Intell G5 (specifications below) From the beginning I am not satisfied with performance of Apeture. I use, as a prof, photographer, aperture on a daily bases but I find Ap. slow and the performance is not what Apple said it should be. I twice did chech up my computer and videocard at the apple store but they say the computer is perfect.
When I do adjustments in Aperture like exposure,auto levels or sharpen etc. my screen turns black or al kinf of stripes and colors apperar on the screen.
Scrolling trough the photo's is really slow and the WHEEL ( with colors I don't know the english word for it) constantly appears.
It's really annoying and drives me crazy.
Is it just me or era there more out there who experience the same promblems.

Not sure if that matters, but do you have a localized version of Aperture?
Also, there's a post on here from Steve Weller about 32 ways to speed up Aperture. Try it out:

I don't use previews, and I KNOW that's helping with my speed and stability. I would quit Aperture and restart from time to time to flush out old memory.

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

I am having a lot of trouble with trying to use my debit card on purchase of itune apps or music. Whenever i put my card information in it tells me that this card is invalid. But there is no way that my card is invalid because i just got it last week. So the only thing i haven't done yet is call my bank to check and see if all my bank statements match but if they do then have no idea what to do to get this to work with my computer, ipad mini, or ipod HELP! ITunes7 Lots of trouble with synchronizing! Does anyone know what to do?

I'm having lots of trouble since I installed iTunes7. It takes hours to synchronize my Ipod (40 Gb). The first synchronizing, iTunes7 reinstalled the whole library (7000 songs). After 5 hours, the synchronizing was completed. After playing a few songs on my iPod, I tried out a second synchronizing. iTunes7 synchrionized again all 7000 songs, which would never have happened with iTunes6.0.5. With iTunes6.0.5 it would take a few minutes! By the way, some old bugs are still in iTunes7. For example, sometimes songs bought from iShop are not synchronized to my iPod. iTunes gives a stupid message that the software on my iPod is an old version, which is not true! Yes, my iPod migth be old (3 yrs), but if Apple continious like that, the next mp3-player won't be from Apple

The issue resolved itself. After synchronizing a few times, things got back to normal!

All of the sudden I am having a lot of trouble with Safari.

Rather then trying to explain what Safari is doing, are the Installed plug-ins updated when I do a "Apple>Software update?" I need to update Shockwave Flash 10.0 r45. Any idea how to update this other then using the download icon? I can't even find this program on Adobe's website except for the Shockwave Player that has been created by Director. Not sure if this is what I want to fix the issues I am having with a lot of websites that use a lot of interactive demos, 3D, Games, etc.
Also, is resetting the cookies something that would cause me a lot of problems with websites I use that need to identify me? (I ask because I was told to try "removing cookies."

what do you mean by; "sign-in details to hand?"
simply a record outside of cookies of usernames & passwords for sites that store such things in cookies - google, yahoo, apple etc etc all store some info this way. It's not a setting or os x feature, just a reminder to you you - make sure you know them before removing cookies.
Why would the Apple Expert tell me to update Shockwave, Flash Player....nike.com...
I can't think why - I just looked at nike.com & don;t see anything requiring shockwave player, just Flash. Maybe it's buried somewhere, eh.

I would ignore shockwave player until or if you arrive at a page you want to see that says "you need shockwave". Then if/when you need it, try installing shockwave 11 for intels
For Flash - go to Adobe Flash Download & get the latest one.
I'm fairly sure (having just used it there, especially) that Flash 10.0.45 isn't gonna cause you 'a lot of trouble' at nike,com. So likely there's something else amiss.
I suggest that you describe in more detail what the troubles are with nike/other sites, and whether or not they persist when testing briefly in a New User Account which is a good step in troubleshooting, since it eliminates everything in your regular account as a possible cause.

Lots of Trouble with a 1st generation MacBook

I'm writing for my sister, who's in Thailand having trouble with her MacBook. Hopefully you can help with the information I have. I'm sorry for the long message.
About a week ago, her 1st generation MacBook (running Leopard), full off the couch. She says it fell maybe a foot and a half and landed on some clothes. She didn't think it was a big deal, but when she opened it again, her desktop image had been changed with the blue Apple default. Nothing else appeared wrong with the desktop icons or anything else.
Then, she noticed Photoshop wouldn't open, MS Word wouldn't let her type or save, and Safari/Firefox were running super slow. She tried Disk and Permissions verify/repair, and also tried popping out the RAM and putting it back in (in case it had been dislodged). Today, she said that Word either refuses to open or opens but says there is a problem with the Office Database. Safari and Firefox are still running really slow.
She says she took it to an Apple approved repairshop in Bangkok, where the guys ran MacTuneUp and a permissions repair on Word. At the shop the computer was running fine, but once she got it home, it started acting up again. At times, it'll be running like normal and then revert back to being slow.
She also said she tried to download a VLC player online the day before the laptop fell. I don't know which one she tried to download.
Does anybody have any ideas for her to try?

To anyone who stumbles upon this post, we figured it out.
All we had to do was empty the cache in Safari and FireFox and it started working fine. We just didn't realize my sister had both browsers open the entire time.

Having trouble with Aperture images in a slideshow in iMovie

I've searched for answers to this but can't seem to find out what I'm doing wrong....
I'm trying to put together a slideshow in iMovie with my images from Aperture. They look horrible, color is way off and they're grainy. It was my understanding that iMovie uses the preview images from Aperture for making the movie so I have my settings in Aperture set to the best quality for previews. Is that right? Is there something else I should be doing?

No, thats the right way I do it with my images. I use iMovie 09 and the preview size of my iLife previews are set to 1680 pixel. I do mostly some slideshows in iMovie for displaying on the web and for iPhone, so the output from iMovie will be most times at 480 pixel wide. The colors are fine and images look best as in Aperture.
What I found sometimes is, some outwashed colors - unsaturated - after I export my movie from iMovie. This comes when I use other settings for exporting the movie than the presets for iPhone or Apple TV. The same behavoir did I recognize when exporting a movie from Final Cut Express or Keynote. This behavoir may be outdated in Snow Leopard, because Quicktime X should use Colormanagement the first time.

Anyone else having trouble with Aperture 3 constantly quitting?

I've been running Aperture 3 for a few days with no problems than an occasional quit; but today it is quitting every time I try to move a photo to a different spot in the same album, or try to insert a slide into a slideshow. It has become totally unusable. Anyone know what is going on? I just relaunched it and it is doing nothing, hanging and is using 93 % of my CPU!!!

Check "show activity" to see what A3 is doing. If it's faces related you should probably just disable that for now– there seem to be some issues with it. You can also try the repair options:

Lots of trouble with BB Torch 9860.

Hello. Right, I have the Torch 9860, had for several months & getting a lot of grief. Here goes...
1 - Battery life is inconsistent - Can last all day most days, but other days can go down 90% within 10 minutes of use.
2 - Software - When I first got the phone, within a week of using, the phone wouldn't load on the BlackBerry loading screen, it got to 3/4's of the way and then stopped. Solution I found was to hold the back key down to load in a 'safe mode.'
3 - Seperate issue, I was on Youtube one night and I pressed to open a video & my phone turned off. When loading again, issue 2 happened, but rather than staying on this, it went to 'Error 102, Reload software.' which I did via BB Desktop Software.
4 - Constant black timer loading, can be doing anything on any screen with nothing open & it will just load for about 20 seconds.
5 - Similar to number 4, pressing the standby button, black screen. I know the phone is on, because it flashes. I will hold the standby button again, nothing. I press the power off (End call) button, nothing, it then comes on with 'Handheld turning off, press any key to cancel.'
6 - The speed of opening anything. Isn't this device meant to have a super fast processor? Doesn't for me. Everything I open takes time. Texts, BBM, Camera.
7 - My calls don't work. I'll ring anyone and it says 'Connected' with the time displayed. no sound. I put it on loudspeaker, nothing. Headphones in, again nothing. I end up doing a battery pull and it works for a while then cuts off during a call.
With all this, I have done a software update, I've done a back up. I've done a lot of different things. I just felt I needed to come on here to fix this.

Hopefully you already have this resolved, but just in case...I suggest you do a clean and controlled OS reload, using the process outlined later down in this post...
At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:

From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

Trouble with aperture importing images or perhaps seeing drive.

i keep my images on an external bus powered drive (120gb lacie rugged drive), for a while aperture would let me import images (i want to use a referenced library) from this drive. at some point aperture would not see any of the images or folders on this drive. aperture may have appeared to think it was some other kind of volume? (a cf card perhaps?)
are there any known problem with bus powered drives and aperture?
this was all with the 30 day trial version which has since expired, i'm afraid that i am a little vague with info. to compound matters ive had a drive failure, so while this all happened with 10.4.8, but now i'm now back on 10.4.6.
i have an educational version (xmas present) that i can install, but before i break the seal and install it, i want to make sure that i will be able to use this drive to store my images.

You were right the format was set to sRAW2 after resetting the files are seen by Aperture, however, a new problem has arise. The adjustment area only sees the normal and not the RAW. In other words adjustment tab is not designated in the tool section.

Lots of trouble with Zen Sleek, please he

Had to replace my Zen Touch today (finally gave up the ghost) and swapped it for a Zen Sleek. My head is battered with the amount of trouble I have had with this today, problems being......
*CD won't load, starts and then just gives up
*USB being connected to computer, Zen Sleek thinks it is charging
*Tried a few suggestions from the Zen Sleek topics and getting nowhere, have tried to download a driver but it won't let me.
I am really really at the end of my tether with this and I can see this Zen sleek being thrown at somebody very soon, please help me, any advice would be really really helpful

I have had this unit for over a year. The site does not seem to directly refer to it anymore but only mentions the 60 gig model until you find the right links in support. I saw your message while trying to bring mine back to life 9 months of non use. It is really to heavy for my jogs which is when I listen to music lately. Anyhow if you installed the device driver on the system it should recognise it. If you dont then windows is pretty dumb about it and a newer USB 2.0 system will shut off the current when it does not recognize it; .0 systems might charge it but 2.0 not likely. I have run into the same thing trying to get a quick charge on my motorola razer cell phone and I carry the driver on a flash dri've.
Once my zen M:30 did power up it appeared that the firmware had a problem. There is a recovery program which solved that and updated the firmware to the latest version. Since the unit worked until I turned it off I can only assume the error was caused by the deep discharge of the battery over 9 months. I did find it interesting that the 30 gig Microsoft zune crashed over leap year issues yesterday. I hope the older Zen firmware did not hav the same problem. :-)?

I am having a lot of trouble with my mac.

About a week ago I wrote a question about the flashing question mark when starting the computer. After many days of having that problem, I manage to make it work by unplugging the battery and when starting holding the option and shiftt keys. However las Sunday I manage to make a bak up of the information in my mac and reseted the computer. When I reseted the computer it was working all ok.
I have to make clear that at this time, the back cover had no screws in, as apparently without the screws it was causing less problems.
Once the computer was reseted and the software were working fine, I decided to put the screws back in. ( I had turned the computer off to put the screws back).
When I turned the computer on again, the question mark Icon on the file came up again. Reason which I turned it off again, unplugged the battery press the power button whilst the battery was unplugged to some sort of resetting. Plaggged the battery in and worked. It was only telling me that the date and time were back in 1/1/2008 and changed it to the actual date and time. After that the computer was fine starting up with no problem. I decided to ask my huisband to put the screws back in for me. ( I wasnt sure if it was me putting them back in very tight) when my husband put the screws back in, the computer started to play up again. When I came home from work I started to try and make it work again, as I had done before unplugging the battery and pressing the power button whilst unplugged etc. and didnt work. I called then to apple support, and he told me that it was a very weird case as the screws has nothing to do with the operative system or software. He told me that holding: comand +option+control+shift would do the same effect as unplugging the battery. However he also told me that it could be a problem with the hard drive as the file with the question mark was very frequent and that it happens when it cannot find the system to run. After talking with him, I tried the 4 keys as he told me but I think that in one occasion I release one of them and the computer turned on and I kept holding the 4 keys. After that, didnt start, so my husband told me to reset the compute again, and put in the "snow leopard" cd to reset the computer.
in addition to that and to top it off, when I was running the installation cd, it only goes to "select the disk where you want to install" but it doesn't show any disk to select and when I try to eject the cd doesn't work either.
Could the fact that I pressed and hold the 4 keys, command, option, control and shift at the time and I accidentally turn the computer on holthing them together have cancelled the disk or deactivate it?
I don't know If I have made my self clear or not. But need oppinions or if someone knows what can b wrong and what can I do?

It sounds like either your hard drive or the SATA cable that connects it to the motherboard are failing. This could be heat related in your case, which is why you see it after it runs awhile. You can take it to the Genius Bar for a free evaluation. If you decide to test it yourself, I usually suggest moving the hard drive to an external enclosure. If it works there for awhile, the cable is probably the issue.

Trouble with Aperture 3.2.3 recognizing Vault on external HD?

Having problem backing up to vault on external HD. ApertureVault window indicates it is disconnected, but it is not, and when I try to update path I get an error message saying "Not a valid vault file." The vault was originally on a different external HD, but I thought I had moved it successfully.Likewise when I try to backup it says no vault connected. I backed up a month ago, no problem, and since have upgraded to 3.2.3. Any advice? Thanks.

If you copy a vault to a new drive, you have to reconnect it:
You need to specify the location, or path, of the new or changed backup hard disk drive.
See: To specify a vault’s new location or path in the User Manual:
Connect the hard disk drive to your computer.
To show the Vault pane, do one of the following:
Choose Window > Show Vaults (or press Shift-R).
Click the Vault Pane button.
Select the vault to be updated to a new path.
Choose Update Vault Path from the Vault Action pop-up menu (with a gear icon).
Navigate to the location of the vault on the hard disk drive, select it, then click Update Path.

Lots of trouble with 1.1.4 update process

First my 4 week old version of itunes kept telling me it was "unable to connect to update server". So i downloaded an even newer version and got the same message. After a 30 min call with support they suggested I install itunes on a different machine.
Got that done,got it to start downloading the update. The 1.1.4 iphone update was 75% downloaded and then lost the whole download.
So- downloaded it again (mind you I have wasted HOURS at this point)
Got the whole download BUT was told "firmware corrupt" and unable to install. The whole download was lost -again!
I've had the phone for 3 weeks and if this is the kind of experience I can expect when trying to update it please let me know so I can cut my losses now.
Really disappointed with this process.

I just upgraded to iOS 7 last night and today i had a lot of trouble with my app store and upgrading my apps...

At first my app store had many notiifications saying i had upgrades however when i opened the app store app all my upgrades would disappear and say that my app were all up to date. This eventualy worked itself out and i hit "Upgrade All" now leaving me with an iPod %th Gen full of apps that are in "waiting..." to upgrade and WILL NOT LOAD.
What do i do?
