Lotus Notes (Domino) Meeting Invitations from Mail to iCal

I use an iMac at work and a MacBook Pro at home. They recently switched to a Notes-based calendar program at work, and since I don't have the Notes client installed on either machine (someone from our IT department has spent about four hours trying to install it on the iMac with no success) and the web application only works with IE 6, and there is no provision for synching the calendar with my PDA, when I heard that the e-mail meeting invitations could be imported into iCal, I was all over that.
When I opened iCal on the iMac I found that there was a "Work" calendar, and iCal's "Automatically retrieve invitations from Mail" box was checked, there were no entries in the Work calendar--or any other calendar.
When I initially looked into it, I found several threads (e.g. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5186410) in the iCal forum about time zones not being imported correctly (I wish my problems were that minor!) from Lotus Notes meeting invitations. But these threads showed vCal messages and mentioned error dialogs. I hadn't seen any dialogs, and my meting invitations are just plain text messages like this:

So I just assumed I was foiled again because the messages were not in the right format.
Later I happened to open my MacBook Pro, and, much to my surprise, I found that a small number of meetings had actually found their way into iCal, and in at least one case I know of, one has actually been rescheduled! I could hardly contain myself.
At first I thought the small number of meetings was simply due to the fact that I receive most of my work e-mail at work, on the iMac, so only those meeting invitations that I happened to open for the first time on my MacBook Pro had been imported. However, this turned out not to be the case, as I have observed many cases in which I have received new, unread meeting invitations on my MacBook Pro which have not been entered in iCal.
But what's really got me is that this whole process is so inaccessible! You'd think there would be preferences where you could tell Mail what kind of invitations to look for and tell iCal which calendar to put them in. But no. There's just one checkbox to turn the process on or off. You just check it and cross your fingers.
Just to deepen the mystery a little bit, I do know of one other Mac user who says his invitations are being reliably entered into iCal, and he can even reply to them. When I asked him for details he told me he just turned it on and it worked.
Is there anyone out there who can at least shed a little light on what I've observed, if not help me get this process working at least quasi-reliably? Is this process working for anybody else out there?

  • Meeting invitations from Mail not making it to iCal

I haven't been able to have meeting requests automatically transfer over to iCal.
I have my Mail settings set to automatically send meeting invites to iCal, and most invitations come from people that are present in my address book.
I've been on hold with Apple Care for over an hour, and haven't had any luck other than being asked to check the settings above.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    I should clarify that.
Lotus Notes Meeting Invitations aren't being imported into iCal +with any degree of reliability+, and the more I look into this, the more mysterious it seems to get.

  • Meeting requests from Mail to iCal - 10.4.6

Updating to 10.4.6 seems to have broken my ability to import into iCal meeting requests sent from Outlook to an Exchange account in Mail. In 10.4.5 I was able to command-[ and get the meeting.ics attachment which, when doubleclicked, would load the event into iCal.
Now, when I do the same thing, I get the .ics file as the attachment but the .ics is not recognized by iCal:
This calendar file is unreadable. No events have been added to you iCal calendar.
Opening it with BBEdit shows that .ics is not a vCard.
Does anyone have any clue of what is going on?

    baltwo,
That was a typo. In (2) I meant to say "Upgrade Mac OS X" rather than "Install Mac OS X" precisely for the reasons you stated for the "upgrade earlier version" install option. The "Erase and Install" option and "Archive and Install" option are just not necessary in my case. Thanks.

  • IDK for Lotus Notes/Domino

A customer has asked us if we can build an IDK for Lotus Notes/Domino in Lotus Script.
We've validated that it's technically possible and now it's time to figure out how to approach the problem from the business side, i.e. do we do it as a consulting project, a closed-source/for-profit product or as an open source product.
I'm leaning toward open source, but first I want to see if anyone out there would benefit from a Lotus Notes/Domino IDK (aside from this one customer of ours).
    Thoughts?

I quite new with OIM, but not at all... For sure, I need to configure a connector for Lotus Notes / Domino.
The main points in my question are (USING A connector for Lotus Notes / Domino):
    - How can I create 1 user account (and related data), on different servers (IT Resources), with different "mail templates", when the data should be the same, and the user mail database, should only be a replica on the the 2nd server
    - Maybe, I need to configure 2 distincts IT Resources, and run both (through Provisioning Policies), when I need to provision a user, as described in my scenario (above), right?
    - In the 2nd server, I dont want the user to be created with a new mail database (neither new user data, as shortName, IDfile... ).
I want that same data, and a replicated mail DB is generated on the 2nd server (webmail server)
Is it possible, how can I configure this within OIM connector for Lotus Notes / Domino?

  • Blackberry not receiving meeting invitations

My husband & I both have Blackberry 8330's. We are on BIS and only use our personal e-mail accounts. When he sends me a meeting invitation, I receive an e-mail in Outlook but the invitation does not come to my device. I cannot accept the meeting invitation from the e-mail, it comes in as a bunch of text and doesn't even tell me the date or time of the meeting. It doesn't seem to matter if the invitation is updating an existing meeting or a new one. He receives invitations that I send him just fine.
Does anybody have any ideas what the problem could be?
    Solved!

Have you tried, for both BB's, to delete and re-create the BIS profile?
Also, have you compared, item by item, the settings within the Message app config on both devices?  Perhaps something is set one way on one and differently on the other?
Also, have you compared the OS level of the two devices to be sure they are as well the same?

  • ICal.app doesn't grab events/invitations from Mail.app

    Morning.
My colleagues are using MS Outlook and send me invitations. I receive their emails with ICS attachments. In iCal.app I've activated »Preferences > Advanced > Automatically request invitations from Mail.app«. (I use a German GUI, therefore I do not exactly the terminology on an English GUI.)
But iCal.app does not grab and display such invitations.
What's wrong? What can I do to solve this serious problem?
    TIA and kind regards, Friedrich

In fact the feed is at http://bongqiuqiu.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
The oldest post in the feed is November 10, and Mail is showing back as far as that - a total of 25 posts.
There may be older posts on the website, but many blog creation services limit the number of entries shown in the feed, moving older ones to an archive page and out of the page once that limit is reached. I don't know about Blogger, but I would assume that this is the case with this feed. You can expect the November 10 entry to disappear once a new one is added.

  • Publishing on a Lotus Notes Domino Intranet

    Good morning all,
I am new to this discussion forum and am hoping to get some pointers with Adobe Captivate. I searched for information on Lotus Domino but nothing came up.
I am a Lotus Notes Domino developer and look after our Lotus Domino intranet here. I have been asked to evaluate Adobe Captivate with a view to publishing eLearning content on our intranet.
I am planning to download the trial verison to take a look. But before I start I thought I would just ask a few basic questions and hopefully tap into some of the expert knowledge out there.
Hence, once content has been created, can it be published on a Domino Intranet .. ? Or is a link created to it somewhere .. ?
Also, a requirement is to be able to keep track of who has accessed the content, course results, pass/fail rates etc .... from what I have read initially I believe that this aspect is possible but any further info will be gratefully received.
Many thanks in advance for any help and I am looking forward to trying the product soon.
    Regards

H DominoDev, and welcome to the Captivate user forum.
Captivate content is usually published as HTML+SWF+JavaScript files (though there are other output options). I'm not really familiar with Lotus Notes Domino, but if it works pretty much like a web server, then you should be able to just upload the published files to your intranet and link to the HTML file to allow users to launch the content in their web browser.
If you want to be able to track user interaction with the content, then you need to investigate Learning Management Systems (LMS for short) and SCORM (the "language" that allows Captivate courses to communicate with LMSs).  I don't know if Lotus has one of these LMSs in their arsenal, but there is no shortage of such systems available.  If you want to look at an open-source option, try Moodle (www.moodle.org).  It's very popular.

  • Unable to delete the meeting invitation from Calendar stored in Public Folder - exchange 2010

I assume the specific entry (meeting invitation) is corrupted, due to which we are unable to delete the meeting either from outlook or OWA. Is there any possibility to delete that calender invitation from reoccuring?

    Hi,
For further troubleshooting, I would like to collect some information
Is there any error when trying to delete the meeting invitation from calendar?
If the calendar is not stored in the public folder, is it possible to delete the meeting in this calendar?
Does this issue occur on one user or multi-users?

    Hi,
    I have Exchange 2007 & Exchange 2003 environment.
On my Head Office I have Exchange 2007 server & other sites I have exchange 2003 server.
In one location where I have Exchange 2003 server, user from this particular location received NDR when sending any meeting invitation from their Android Device.
But Meeting schedule has been fixed but still they will received this NDR. This will not happened if they done this using office Outlook or OWA. This happened only when using android device.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks in Advance.

Did you ever find a resolution?  We have the same problem except it doesn't seem to happen all the time, only on random meetings. Our environment is Windows Server 2008 R2 running Exchange 2010 SP1 with all updates.  Most of our iOS devices have at least version 5.

In our enterprise we have Lotus Notes/Domino database and we offered a PDF form to many users for some subscriptions.  To receive these subscriptions, is it possible to put a SAVE button that saves the filled data into the Lotus Notes/Domino database?

It happens automatically. You don't need any code to trigger it.
