Loud audio and overexposed picture in iDVD

This has happened with earlier projects, and is occurring again with my present one:
I edited my production, (under 60 mins) and import it to iDVD 3.1 as a QT movie by dragging it into the work area.
Upon burning, I note that the audio levels, while normal in my editor, become 3 or 4 times louder than normal volume after the disc has been created. This means I have to go back to the project in the editor and make a new file with up to 75% lower volume to get acceptable results - usually after 2 or 3 tries.
What's more, each new QT file seems to have a section
somewhere, (and it's not predictable where it happens) where the scene lightens up - -overexposes - washes out - for maybe 5 or 10 minutes, and then goes back to being acceptable.
Why is this? Is this a version.3 issue? I had no apparent problems with several earlier projects...would trashing prefs or reinstalling help? I'm not about to go out and buy iLife '06 just yet.

I'm sorry, I have to disagree here. It really seemed to be an iDVD 3 bug, and maybe it's only on my system, somehow, but I couldn't even locate the prefs. as Apple seems to have buried them somewhere - like they do with iTunes, etc. Anyway, I am up to date with the latest QT and don't think that's the issue either. Oh, and I don't use iMovie as an NLE.
So in the interests of whatever - and I'm surprised that a cursory search on this forum's archives didn't turn up similar complaints, I made the effort to do a crash course in my Studio Pro 3, which is harder to get into - but which ended up building an absolutely beautiful edition for me (with great and faithful picture and sound quality, even at a higher compression rate, plus I scratched the surface of the deeper level of control you have with that SP3. Highly recommended.
Someday maybe I'll try to unistall and reinstall iDVD 3 just to see if that helps, but it does seem that later versions don't give anybody these sorts of problems. I sure spent a lot of time trying to get it to work right. Hope an Apple tech or someone who has an idea about what was going on happens to replies to this, as my support contract expired this past May.

Check the developer's website as many only support Audio Airplay.

I have a Canon 550D and a class 6 Sandisk extreme 3 card which I have been taking great photos and film clips.
Yesterday I captured some content and when I put it into my macbook pro, the images were clear as per usual however the videos only appeared to play the audio in aperture 3 and also in quicktime.
I then tried the videos in VLC and it had perfect audio once again but with picture this time. This picture quality seemed to freeze.be jittery.
Has anyone had/fixed this before..?? The content I have captured was of a once off opportunity for work...

i clicked on "open in rosetta" for flip4mac and now it does open once more but the same...no video.
i don't understand why nothing is working.
do i have to upgrade fliprmac and buy it to make it work? i am not going to do that tho.
this is really frustrating.

Audio and the picture box

I would like to post an audio file to my website with iweb. How can I get rid of the picture box associated with the audio file? I do not want a picture to go with my audio file. I just want a list of audio files that can be clicked on and played. Thanks.

I want to sync my audio with my pictures in iDVD and can't get it to work. How can I do it manually?

All you can do in iDVD is select an audio track or playlist from iTune and set iDVD's slideshow Slide Duration to Fit to Audio:
If you have an older copy of iMovie, specifically iMovie 6 HD you can precisely set your music to yoru photos with fade outs and ins as you need:
It's, by far, the best version of iMovie for manipulating audio.

I can receive audio and pictures together but when I try to forward them the forwarding option is disabled. Why?

Don't know Why but it occures to often and
My way around this is that in iMovie HD 6 before applying any transition or effect.
Extract audio from Advance menu. (in iMovie'08 - I've got NO solution!)
When my movie is done I export as QT/Expert mode/audio as .aiff
Then I collect all audio on one of the audio tracks in iMovie and import
this new audio.aiff to the other.
Muting the "collection track" and "video audio" track.
Now it will play smooth - and this movie project icon will work
so much better with iDVD and Your DVD disc.
Burn at an as slow speed as possibly eg x1

IWeb Podcast - Drag and Drop Audio and Picture Files

I have been using iWeb the last few days to create a web site that includes some podcasts. I currently have three podcasts as a part of the site. I have been able to get two of the podcasts to work correctly but the third one, no matter how many times I recreate it seems to be where the difficulty lies.
The podcast page gives me the opportunity to drag and drop an audio file and a picture file onto the page. As best I can tell, when I drop the audio file onto the page, things seem to be fine. When I drop the picture file onto the object, the audio clip seems to disappear. I have tried dropping the picture file first with basically the same results.
A couple of more things. I created the original podcast file in GB3. I have found I can't import the podcasting file directly form GB because I end up with a very large file (>60GB) for the audio portion. So, I share the audio file to disk as an M4a file. When I add the audio to the podcast page in iWeb, I drag the audio file from Finder onto the object. The picture I have dropped onto the podcast page both from the Media Browser and from Finder. The results are the same.
Any help is appreciated.

I think you're asking the question in the wrong forum. From what you posted, there's nothing wrong with GB, you should post in the iWeb forum where you're more likely to get useful and accurate answers about, well, iWeb.

I've been told this happened to somebody else last week, but didn't get a resaon why.
Any clues as to why this is happening? I suspect it's a codec issue of some sort

How to make a movie of a presentation keeping audio and pictures in sync

How can I synch slides and audio (the audios are different lengths) in a presentation and turn it into a video.
Each slide should stay in place until the audio has finished (the audio's are slightly different lengths).
I've tried using a free trial of "Adobe Presenter" but I couldn't seem to make a movie of my presentation.
I will consider purchasing the software that will do this for me as I have a few presentations I want to make and convert to movie format for my colleagues to watch (this is to help in a teaching environment).
Is there a program that will let me match up my audios and slides in the correct order and synch them so the audios do not move beyond the slide for which they are intended? Any help much appreciated with this problem.

The slide duration in presenter is automatically adjusted according to the time of the audio inserted on that slide.
How are you inserting audio on slide ? Recording or inserting using presenter option ?
You cannot create a movie format like avi, mp4 etc
But you may publish the presenttaion in the swf format which will play in a browser or a swf player. To play in the broswer you just need to have Adobe Flash Player installed on your system. It will play like a movie in the broswer.

10.4.10 vers 1.1 | Loud noise and Hum on speakers thru' USB Audio Interface

After doing this update all of a sudden my Mbox2 produces loud noise and Hum on my attached speaker when hooking up the power adapter to my MbookPro or adding a second display... I can virtually hear when the computer is computing thru' the speakers... This noise thing adds up the more equipment I hook up...
Does anyone know what this could be....???

This can happen if the software is "allowing"
more power to be accessed by the USB ports..
This isn't quite accurate. USB devices can ask for power, up to 2.5 watts (500 ma @ 5 volts), from a USB port. Software can query the device for its power requirements & shut down the power to it (& warn you it is doing so) if it exceeds that limit. However, the hardware in Macs themselves (& essentially all other computers) also have a number of power limiting circuits, independent of the OS software, that make it just about impossible for the software to "allow" more power than this to be drawn from the port. (If they didn't, they would not meet most of the world's safety codes.)
Moreover, if your USB speakers (or any other USB device) requires more than 2.5 watts, it would never have been bus powered under any version of the OS, assuming it meets USB standards (IOW, displays an official USB logo & is not itself defective).
If the technician is telling you something different, it might be a good idea to find a more qualified one, or at least get a second opinion.

Exporting Audio and Picture to PROTOOLS

I'm doing all of my audio editing and mixing on ProTools. What is the best way to export my edited work from FCP on one computer to ProTools on another? Is there a way I can do it to have high-quality audio and low-quality video to save space? Is there a certain format or codec I need to render in?

Export an OMF file of the audio only for your high quality audio. The use of Automatic Duck allows you to keep all your audio level changes and rubberbanding. Without it, everything will come it at their original volume.
Then you will have to export video separately as Sorenson 3 or MPEG-4.

Poor Audio and Video Quality

Using IDVD to burn iMovie containing pictures and music and am getting very poor quality audio and video. The video is very low resolution, lacking clarity and definition, and the audio comes out really flat with over-saturated vocals that is unpleasant to listen to.
The content was made from iMovie 11, importing photos from iPhoto and iTunes music.
I exported the movie via Share->Export Movie-> HD 1080P
In iDVD 7.1.2 I imported the movie (actually several) into a slideshow menu item.
I used the iDVD encoding preferences set at 'Best Performance' and 'Professional Quality' with no difference between the two
Then to ensure it wasn't the DVD disk causing the problem, I used the 'Save as Disc Image', and validated the file image saved to disk had the same quality issues as the burned DVD.
Then to eliminate the iMovie as the problem, ran a test and used an iPhoto slideshow in place of the iMovie, and it also has the same low quality issues.
I have observed that using the iDVD viewing capabilities, the A/V quality is fine. Its after the burn to disk the problem occurs.
At this point I'm not sure what to try. I'm viewing the DVD on my 50" widescreen TV using Sony DVD player.
A year or so back I did similar steps and the DVD came out fine... the sound quality was excellent and the video quality while not outstanding, was reasonable.
Any ideas -- I'm really stumped.

• Share to Media Browser - AND AS Large - NOT HD ! (result will not be better but rather WORSE)

I am using MTS files. They load in PE fine. The problem is when I try to play them, I just get audio and no video. I have installed the latest updates. Is there a CODEX that I need.

I have windows 8.1. I have downloaded the mts files from my video camera onto my hard drive. I have loaded a subset of these mts files into premier elements and they show up fine. I can bring them to the time line without a problem. The issue is that when I click on them, I only get the audio and no video. Normally when you click a thumbnail, the picture shows in the large screen. That screen remains blank.

2. My driver before you response was 3/4/14   9.18.13.3523. I went to Nvidia and downloaded and installed latest driver 7/2/14 9.18.13.4052
3. Rebooted and checked APE and no change in the problem. Still doesn't show video when I double click an thumbnail or if I single click it does not show a video image in the large screen.
4. Some things I have done to try to resolve the problem.
     a. Searched this forum for a similar problem. I didn't see one.
     b. Did a web search to see if I could find a solution outside this forum
     c Went into "edit" and tried some changes in project preferences and setting to see if that would make a difference
     d. Tried to contact Adobe support to speak to a person but that seemed difficult and could never figure out how to do it.
5. I have always loaded AVI clips into this program and this is the first time I have tried MTS files. When I opened the new project, the program notified that I had to change something??? to load an MTS file and asked me if I wanted the program to do this for me. I said yes and here I am.   I seem so close to making it work.   Thanks
