Loud continuous beeping With Garageband and my MIXER.

I Just got a Peavey PV 8 USB Mixer with 2 MXL 990 Phantom powered condenser mics.
Every time I connect my Mixer and open garage band there's a long continuous beep in the backround. No matter what I do I cannot drown it out. I've disabled the Audio MIDI Set up. I've gone into my preferences and disabled the internal mic and speakers and still nothing. The strange thing is that the mixer is fine if I have GarageBand shut down. But as soon as it even gets to the new project window The beeping starts again. Someone please help me.

I had this same problem, exact same problem!
After googling for hours for an answer, I decided to just call up Peavey.
Come to find out the PV6 USB Mixer is only outputting 15v of Phantom Power. Most quality condenser mics need 48v.
I asked him why did I see on the box and read online that the PV6 USB said it had 48v phantom power.
To which he replied, "Only the Non-USB PV6 has 48v of Phantom Power."
LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To fix this problem you would have to buy an external Phantom Power Supply

Audio error with garageband and external usb audio interface

I am using Garageband 2.0.3. under ios 8.0.2 on my iPad 3 and via camera adapter a USB audio interface Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 or a Presonus iTwo.
When I start Garageband, it works well, the audio interfaces are recognized and I can record a track.
As soon as I switch from instrumtent to track view, the audio path is completely disturbed and all I can hear is some noise from the speaker.
Then I have to unplug the usb cable and plug it in again. Then audio works until I switch back to the instrument menu.
When I use the headphone output only there is no problem with Garageband and everything works fine.
Other applications audio applications don't show any error with each of the two audio interfaces.
Any feedback is very much appreciated, thanks.

I have this exact issue. However, I tried the Loopy app after after GB crashed and received an error message saying that core audio is not available. Rebooting resolves but the problem repeats. Any suggestions as to fixes? Btw; I have no such problem with Ipad 2 and ios 7.

P755-S5269 volume control makes loud annoying BEEPS with each press to change volume or mute

I'm having an issue with the volume contol on my P755-S5269 making loud beeps when I adjust the volume.
It may have seemed sensable to make a noise which is indicative of the volume you might expect to hear when playing media however it seems to be the same LOUD BEEP VOLUME with each press of the - or + volume control.
I find that this is especially annoying when adjusting the volume at lower levels as it overrides whatever media is being played with FULL VOLUME BEAPING for each press to adjust the volume. This happens both with the speakers or with headphones and it seems like a poor design choice that hopefully can be controled through software or BIOS.
This LOUD BEEP also happens when toggling the mute button to silent wich seems especially rude when trying to ensure a silent laptop session.
Any suggestions would be appreciated otherwise I guess I'll have to use the workaround avoid the hardware control and only use the windows volume slider.

And after a little exploration, I found how you can turn the beep off completely. Go to Control Panel/Sound/Sounds Tab/Scroll to Default Beep and Select it/In Sounds box below is probably "Windows Ding"/Click on drop down arrow in the box/Scroll to top and select "None"/Apply/OK. Whew!!! Result--No more beep when you adjust volume with the regular sliders.

MacbookPro continuously beep after start and don't come up

I have a Macbook Pro early 2008 15'' and now for some reason when starting, it sounds a continuously beeps (3 beeps with pause of 3 seconds in between)
while beeping, the sleep indicator light is blinking. The battery is fully charged and no problem according to its indicator leds.
Any help?

Thanks - I looked on this article and it helped. I removed the memory cards from the Mac (I have 2 of 2GB) then insreted each one separately and everything works perfect, only when inserting both together the problem appears. From the mentioned article 3 beeps means "No good banks" (???).
Is my diagnostic seems to be accurate?
Any idea how this can be resolved?

Continuing problems with Matrox and Premier Pro CS5.5 Mac

What is wrong with Adobe and Matrox? Can't they get it together! Ever since switching from Final Cut Pro 7 to Premier Pro 5 and then 5.5 I have been having problems playing back footage from Premier through the Matrox Mini X02 box and then HDMI into a Sony HD monitor. No matter what I do with installs and re installs, the problem persists. The problem is that the Matrox software/hardware seems incapable of providing one simple little thing...playing back my Premier CS 5.5 1920 timeline into my Sony TV. The sound stutters and stops, the playback freezes and Premier won't start again until I reboot my Mac. Sometimes I have to repair disk permissions to get Premier to work again. My hardware should be adequate. I have a MacPro 3.1 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon running in 64 bit mode under OS X 10.6.8, with 20 GB of RAM and a NVidia Quadpro FX4800 video card. I am running a Raid drive for the video.
Now I know that Adobe is trying to get as many FCP users as it can so I am wondering if there are other Mac users on this forum who have swtiched and who are having the same problems? I have read the reports on the Matrox forum and there seems to be a real saga over the Mini Max 02 and its software. There have been countless software revisions!
Should I abandon Matrox and go for a Black Magic card. I understand the Black Magic Pro card only does 1920 interlaced. I want a card that will be able to transfer anything Premier can display on its timeline and put it on my Sony Bravada. So that means progressive as sell as interlaced.

Hi all, matrox came good with a monitoring solution for premiere pro which now works perfectly. Not tried it with a deck connected but at least I can see what I am doing...
Here it is:
Please check the following procedure. You can just do steps 5 to 13 at first. If it does not work then redo all steps. Let me know if it helps.
1.    Uninstall the Matrox driver using the Matrox Uninstaller. The system will restart.
2.    After the MAC has restarted, go to yourusername->library->application support->adobe->Premiere Pro->5.5 and delete the 'Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs' file or use the ‘Preference Manager’ application: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
3.    Restart MAC
4.    Re-download and re-install the Matrox driver software
5.    Go to System Preferences -> Sound -> Output
6.    Change the default device to anything other than Matrox
7.    Open a new project and select a Matrox sequence preset.
8.    Open the Premiere Preferences menu.
9.    Click on ‘Audio Hardware’ and set the default device to anything other than Matrox
10.   Click on ‘Audio Output Mapping’ and set the ‘Map Output’ to anything other than Matrox
11.   Close Premiere and re-open (only if you made any changes)
12.   Open a new project and select a Matrox sequence preset.
13.   Select a Matrox sequence, load a video clip, test playback.
Note: In Premiere, if you are working in a Matrox sequence and want to also output the Source window content through the MXO2, then you can do so by opening Premiere Preferences -> Player Settings -> and setting the value to 'Matrox Player'. Your source window video and audio will now be output through the MXO2.
Note: Audio output through the system sound card is not supported when working in a Matrox sequence.

Podcasting with GarageBand and Skype

Hey all,
With iChat and GB, GB automatically puts each speaker on it's own track. Can this be done with Skype? I tried to arm two tracks for a Skype conference and was told it couldn't be done. I like how GB separates the iChat interviews, but not everyone has iChat. Can we do the same with Skype somehow?

your other participants don't need iChat, they just need to connect to iChat, they can use AIM, or any AIM compatible IM software for their OS.

Z77A - GD65 - tricky one problem with 1X and 16x mix.

I have 6 7900 Series ATI for sCrypt mining using CGminer but all that aside i think this is a PCie problem?
on our MSI Z77a_GD65 - if a 1X and a 16X slot are connected the 16X slot get allocated GPU 0 in CGminer and by default sets to 500MHz Core and 150Mhz mem clock. i.e it does not function properly -
its like the plugging in of a card to the 1X slot is voltage down the 16X pcie slot - or taking Channel space from it?
This board has 6 usable slots - if 3 Cards are in 3 1X slots then all will # at around 550 500 K# without tweaking no problems , everything is normal .
likewise if 3 Cards are in 16X size slots - all cards Run , 3 cards run fine .
BUT
if slots are mixed - even just 2 cards i.e 1 Card on a 1X and 1 Card on a 16X - then CGminer sets GPU 0 to the the card present in the 16X slot and sets it to 500mhz Core and 150Mhz memclock .
I've tested multiple combinations of 1X and 16X slots so as to exclude any particular slot i.e 1 and say 5 and 3 and 2 .
Also updated Bios to 10.8 which states "better Pcie Compatibility"
Set PCIe Latency to 96 in Bios.

The Intel X79 Express platform supports 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes via the CPU for graphics. The Intel X79 Express PCH itself supports eight lanes of PCIe 2.0 connectivity for other external devices.
Of that would also require purchase of Sandy-E CPU along with the BB-XP ll
Compare that with the much less 16 lanes for Sandy & Ivy platforms.
It's not an issue of how many cards you use, it's how many lanes each card uses. If you use 3 cards that use up all lanes and have empty slots they are useless anyway because you have already used up all available lanes.

4900M does it work with X2 and SFP mixed together?

I would like to build 4900M with the following interfaces.
11 x 10G X2
11 x SFP MultiMode.
Is possible to populate above mix and match for 4900?
4900M have two slots,
1st slot -> 8 ports 10G line card
2nd slot -> 8 ports 10G line card
Another question is is okay to mix X2 and Cisco TwinGig Converter together at 8-Port (2:1) 10 Gigabit Ethernet (X2) Half Card ?

X2 is supported on 4900m switches. Mixing should work as well because the twingig works as a 10G transceiver.

Very Loud Hum Even With Isolator and Nothing Connected

I have a Creative 6.1 6600 speaker set.
The speaker power supply is hooked up to a very nice 4-level isolator.
NOTHING is hooked up to the subwoofer other than the power cable and volume control.
Yet when I turn it on, the hum is still loud enough to be heard everywhere in a fairly large house.
I've almost given up hope on the issue. I've ran out of ideas and am ready to just throw the woofer out as being broken. Any final suggestions before I scrap it entirely?

If it's humming that loud with nothing but the power and volume control hooked up, then it is probably bad, and you should check into either warranty service, or a new set of speakers. Sorry.

ranmat11, you can only download apps and iBooks at no additional cost. For music and videos you only get one download and it is up to you to back it up. You will be charged again if you redownload music and videos.

Using ipad 2 with Garageband and Alesis io Dock....problems!

I understand this is not new.....so, it's not resolved.
This is with the io Dock and two microophones.
Crazy distortion, levels redlining, it seems intermitant.......?
Obviously there is no fix yet!?
My purpose for this set up is to record live to two track with the ipad.
Io Dock seems to do the trick.
Garageband on the other hand is tenuos at best.
Assuming the buggs were fixed, I can only get up to 30 mins of record time
in a given session or "song" and that just isn't going to cut it.
Does anyone know of a two track recording app for ipad 2 that will work with io Dock???

At this point looks like Alesis and ios 5 are incompatible.
Turns out if you are looking for it there is a bit of info on the web.
There is a disconnect between Apple and Alesis, some finger pointing etc...
In the end there is a disconnect and the consumer is paying the price.
I am within the return window with the retailer i purchased it from and I am taking it back.

Networking with macs and pcs mixed

Is it possible for me to:
1. take an old PC with a huge hard drive in, wipe it clean and install Leopard onto it to use as a simple server?
2. network it for a home office of 4 computers (2 macs, 2 pcs)?
I've never done networking before-is this possible?

If by "PC" you mean non-Apple hardware, no. Mac OS X only runs on Apple's systems.

If you run Leopard on a Mac, yes, you can have up to ten systems connect to it, both Windows systems and Macs.

Web Services with ColdFusion and PHP mixed

I understand ColdFusion automatically generate the WSDL by
adding ?wsdl
after the CFC, but I can't do the same thing because the
remote server is
not on ColdFusion. They have given us the wsdl web address,
but it seems
using the wsdl address directly without CFC is not working.
Is that right?

HI, my friend and I want to jam silently using guitars, garageband, irig and headphones. Can this be done? when setting up the leader's metronome can be heard, but that's it. nothing else is heard bbetween the ipads. any advice is welcome. thanks. Jeff

I have a turtle beach usb interface chord i use but for some reason gb isn't picking it up

The new M-Audio Oxygen keyboard with 'DirectLink Mode' is the only keyboard on the market that has general control over GB. A better option is to buy the Korg NanoKontrol and download the plugin from the Korg website which has quite a decent amount of control... more than the Oxygen series. There is probably room to velcro it to the top of your XP-50.
