Loud Nat Sound

Hello!
Me and my best friend are making a film for a high school project and we're kind of in a bad way. The first interview we did we didnt think we would need to mic as we thought our camera had an ample enough mic of its own. Apparently we were were wrong because the sound is SO quiet. We turned the volume way up on the clip, but now our Nat sound (or background microphone noise) is SO loud and it sounds terrible. I was wondering if anyone knew what audio filter, if any, would help us and how we would go about applying it. Thanks so Much for your time.
<3

Looks like Cameron and I are working late tonight.
The "Reduce Noise" in Soundtrack Pro has worked for me in the past as well. If you happen to have access to Pro Tools there are a few Waves plugins that work wonders.
If you're limited for apps, you'd be surprised how much sound you can pull out by simply using the 3-band EQ filter within FCP and notching out certain frequencies. Try fiddling with it and getting familiar and see what you can do. But don't expect drastic results, as it sounds like most of your interview sound is lost behind the bg noise.
Good luck,
Joni

  • Pavilion dv6 - loud beeping sound when starting +sound problem

i just bought an hp pavilion dv6 notebook LR732PA and every time i turn it on there's a loud beeping sound, and i'm not sure if this is normal but it asks me where to boot from (pc hard drive) and which oS (windows 7 64-bit). does anyone know how to stop the beeping?
Also sometimes the sound stops working altogether and an icon appears on the screen with a circle moving around it, and when i try to put the volume up the bar slides back down. it usually can be fixed by closing some programs and processes, it happens sometimes when ive just got 2 programs running and i close one and its ok, or if its not i have to restart. is this something to do with RAM or some kind of sound setting?
    Thanks =)

There could possibly be a RAM issue here are a couple of troubleshooting links that might resolve your issue or give you an idea what the beeping is referring to.

  • Macbook Pro Super Drive Loud Whirring Sound during Burn and Verify

    Hi there!
I am using Toast 7 and when I burn DVD's I have noticed that the Super Drive gets a very loud whirring sound that seems to get louder and softer during the first 2 minutes of burning and then during the first 2 minutes of verifying; then it's quiet as a mouse. It's very unnerving; the discs seem fine. Anyone know if this is normal before I head to the Apple Store?

They are kind of noisy drives. Lots more head movement early since they burn center out and less so as they get to the edges since each pass covers a lot more ground. I use it is infrequently as I can becuase it is so slow. A $100 external LaCie drive will pay for itself by burning at 16X instead of about 4.

  • My c4480 makes a loud clicking sound every time it starts to print.

every time it starts to print it makes a very loud clicking sound . it could be the carrier inside jamming on something, nothing obvious.
    any help much appreciated

    hi there smallworld100,
could you provide the community with a little more info to help narrow troubleshooting? Mainly your printer model but things like your operating system as well will help out a lot.

  • Macbook Pro and Beolab3 random loud popping sound

I'm using Macbook Pro and Bang & Olufsen Beolab3 speakers (powered speakers) connect using headphone output but I hear random loud popping sound. Sometimes so loud that it made me jump. It is definitely not a program generated sound. It is more like some sort of electrical interference. This could happen both while an audio is being played or just on standby. The laptop is less than a month old.
The speakers are fine as I tested with other laptop. Is this normal for this combination? or there actually is a fault with my sound card? I need to know so I can do something about it while it is under warrantee. I was recommend to get a audio DAC. But I need to make sure that it is not a problem with the laptop first.
    Thanks. Please help. Any suggestions?

Sounds like your Mac is all mucked up. Your recourse is an Apple store or Authorized Apple Service. You can also all AppleCare.

  • Won´t boot up and loud hissing sound when battery is in.

Hello, I have a powerbook g4 and leopard installed. The other day the computer started making a loud hissing sound and had a black screen(it looks like is in sleep mode) won´t come out of the apparent sleep mode. If I take the battery out it stops making the loud hissing sound but everything else remains the same. Also the light in the power cord is acting werid. The only thing I got to do was to finally turn the computer off and tried for about 3 days to charge it but the powercord wasn´t working so finally it worked(after 3 days) it almost booted up but then went into the sleep coma again. (the light indicator in the cable turned off but after taking out and put in it back in the light turned on. Please help, I can´t find any good answer for this!?? thanks everyone in advance.

I just went over and looked at the computer and it seems that is making the hissing noise again even with the battery out.

  • Horrifyingly loud buzz sound happens after I burn and eject a disc, WHY??

    Hey everyone,
So this insanely loud, like blowing out my speakers loud, buzzing sound, comes out of my speakers after I rip a cd and eject it. Has this ever happened to anyone???
    Here are the specific details:
This has happened only twice before, but just happened twice tonight.
The sound itself is a short burst of noise, like if you ever plugged into a guitar amp with the volume at max.
It only makes that sound when I remove the CD, if it sits halfway in the drive it wont make the noise till I pull it out.
I am using iTunes on an Intel based iMac.
Its almost 1am and it really is scary and disconcerting when this happens, especially because it happened twice in one night! Imagine listening quietly to music and then this MASSIVE loud noise blasts through your speakers late at night. Its like my computer just yelled me...
    Anyways, thanks your time
    Best,
    -Reid

To see if this is something actually going through the iMac's sound system (and not some hardware malfunction), mute the sound in System Preferences Sound pane. Then do whatever it is that makes the sound occur"? Does the sound still occur, or is it now muted. Actually, you don't need to mute the sound, just make it lower. That way, you can tell if the sound still occurred. Is the loudness affected by the sound volume setting?

  • Reconnecting audio to video in timeline (for nat sound)

I am working on a 30 minute documentary and I stubbornly added a bunch of b-roll clips into the timeline, but included the video ONLY.
Is there a way to simply add the audio back into the clips in the sequence, other than going back into the raw footage and replacing each existing clip?
Any comments or help will be much appreciated...I have hundreds of quick clips that need their original nat sound! Thanks!!!

You know Mark, what often seems like a pain in the you know what actually turns out to be a timesaver.
i'm a huge believer in taking all the info into the timeline, even if you end up turning a track or three down to zero. Then if you DO want the nat sound, it's there.
Most of my projects end up with about 10 audio tracks and who knows how many video tracks. I usually keep my timeline in the same monitor as my browser, each sized a little differently so it's easy to toggle between the two.
Added bonus: a big fat timeline impresses some people.

  • I restarted my iphone and when it booted back up i received a loud pining sound with a message stating please give me back my iphone.  it popped up for a second and went away.

I just restarted my iphone because of lag and when it popped back up there was a loud pinging sound with a message that appeared that stated give me back my iphone. It  went away after a few seconds and the sound stopped.  I restarted 4 times since then to see if it happened again but it never occured.
After doing a bit of looking around online i noticed that messages like these appear through the find my iphone app.  I bought the phone new a year ago from my provider and broke it right out of the box and everything so i know didnt buy a stolen phone or anything.
Help or adice on the issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the response.  I thought about maybe i was somehow messing around in icloud but i dont quite recall doing that but with new toys you never know what you may press.  I just wanted to see if there was some sort of glitch going around perhaps.
I've changed my passwords for all my accts to be on the safe side as it is looking like there is no glitch that may cause this.
it's beginning to look more and more like it was caused by a person.
    thanks a bunch.

Topic split, moved and title changed as it doesn't sound like it's the graphics card that's beeping.
Try reseating the graphics card and make sure the power connectors are hooked up.
Insert one RAM stick into DIMM 1.

  • A sudden loud screeching sound from my Air

I was browsing a webpage with Safari when suddenly this really loud screeching sound came from my Macbook Air. I am not talking about the small clicks the HD seems to be doing once in a while. This was a very loud screeching sound, like someone cutting glass with a diamond. I didn't have any other programs on and my speakers were off. The sound lasted for about 2 seconds and got me very scared. I immediately checked the temperatures and fanspeeds but they were all normal (CPU around 45 celcius and fan about 2500 rpm).
Now I'm afraid that it was my HD and it will fail on me sooner or later. Everything seems to be work normally now but I already sent all my important documents to another computer.
Any suggestions on what to do next? Should I contact Apple directly?

You have a 1 year warranty.
If you can travel you can go to an Apple Store.
    go to http://www.apple.com/retail/
On the left is a spot to select state and then store.
Each store's web page has a section on the top left that says :
Make a reservation - Use the Apple Store Concierge to make a reservation for the following services:
Genius Bar - The place to go for advice, insight and hands-on technical support.
Make an appt. and bring it in is that's feasible for you.

  • Loud Screeching Sound

The bottom right corner of my macbook (hard drive) made a loud screeching sound.. this is probably the third time I've ever heard it do that in about 4 months of existence. This is not the normal "scratching" sound every 10 seconds that is well documented. This is a loooud screech sound for about half a second, and it has only done it 3x, while only being on safari. Nothing else out of the ordinary happens afterwards.. everything works fine.. just makes me worrisome! I don't want it to crash or anything.
    Any ideas people?

  • Ibook makes a loud whurring sound...

Perhaps someone could help. I just bought a used ibook G4 and it was working perfectly fine until I replaced the power adapter (unfortunately I stepped on the other one and ripped the cord). The model of the adapter is supposed to be compatible for both the powerbook and ibook, BUT as soon as I got it home and turned it on, it was working for two minutes, then the screen went black and it started making this really loud whurring sound. I immediately shut it off and waited and then tried to restart it manually and at the startup it sounded ok and then the whurring sound began again, and the screen stayed black. I tried to hold down the option + command + P + R and then shift but there was still nothing. Is my computer shot or is there a chance I can get her going again? Please help! BAH!
