Loupe in Bridge doesn't display DNG images created using DNG Converter correctly. Why?

I have noticed recently an anomaly in Bridge when viewing DNG files that are created by converting my Nikon NEF files to DNG using the DNG converter. Specifically, when clicking on the preview image of a DNG file, in order to open the loupe, the 100% image seen in the loupe remain fuzzy, whereas when clicking on a preview of the original NEF file the 100% view in the loupe is sharp and clear.
I am using DNG Converter version 4.6.0.3, and it also occurs when using version 4.4.1. I am using Bridge version 2.1.1.9.
I have no reason to believe that Bridge is at fault, since the loupe function does work properly when viewing the NEF file. It would seem that there's a problem in the DNG conversion.
However, despite this anomaly seen in Bridge, when I open the DNG file in Camera Raw, it is perfectly normal at 100% or any magnification.
I have tried re-setting the JPEG review size in the DNG converter, but that makes no difference.
What's going on here? I don't want to keep both the NEF and DNG versions, for reasons of space, but I'd like the loupe to work correctly. Help, please?

Try to recreate the thumbnails for that folder.
Use the latest version of the converter (5.4)

  • Bridge doesn't display and generate RAW previews right

    Hi everybody,
    1. problem:
Bridge doesn't load the prewiews of RAWs, just if I click on the picture. Before, it loaded the miniature pictures within a few seconds. We didn't change any settings.
    2. problem:
Bridge doesn't display DNG formates right (see picture). CR2 (Canon) is shown right.
    Informations:
    - Win 7 Professional 64bit, Photoshop/Bridge CS6
    - Photoshop/Bridge doesn't need updates
    Help badly needed...!

Since FLV are similar to other video files I suggest you read thread #7 of the following post and see if any of the suggestions help.  Perhaps the G spot program would tell you what codec you need and if it is installed on Bridge.  Beyond that I know nothing.

  • Preview doesn't display bmp image

Using Bootcamp, I saved a BMP image file of a windows screenshot. I can view the screenshot with Tiger & Preview properly, but when I open the file with Leopard & Preview, the entire image is blank except for the windows image resize buttons in the top right corner.
Using Leopard and Quicktime, I can view the image. Also I can display the image properly using Microsoft Word on Leopard. I cannot see the image when I insert it into Pages on Leopard.
Why is the BMP file viewable with only certain applications? Does Preview, under Leopard, no longer support BMP files?

I tried using the link you provided to report the problem to Apple, but it wouldn't log me in. Do you have to be a developer to use Bug Report? If so, perhaps a developer could confirm this as a problem, and report it.
I posted the offending BMP file to my iDisk account: http://idisk.mac.com/rush1-Public
Problem: On a Leopard system the BMP is not displayed properly using Preview or Pages, but it is viewable using QuickTime or MSWord.

talks about two options for creating a graphicImage jsf tag. (img tag)
    1. Make the img tag url refer to a servlet (instead of a static image file)
    2. Embed the image into the tag as inline base64 encoded data.
2a. Use an <Object> tag with inline data.
    1. Looks a bit complex for a simple problem.
2 and 2a don't work with some browsers.
    - And I've not yet figured out how to hook into the ADF Faces table-rendering logic to get it to add my image column. My table binds to a collection DataControl, [which in turn retrieves from a findAllItems call on a session facade, which uses my domain model, and wraps up access to a TopLink pesistence layer]. The framework just ignores my byte[] attribute when creating the jsf table from the DataControl. All string, int etc. attributes get represented correctly in the jsf table output.

  • Bridge won't update and doesn't display raw images from my Sony cameras.

Using new Win8.1 laptop that recently have displayed Sony Raw images.Using PS CS6 stand alone which does nothing when asked to update. Adobe asked for ID verification which I did but didn't help.

Camera Raw version 7.x only works with CS6.
You need Camera Raw 7.3 (CS6) or DNG Converter 7.3 or Lightroom 4.3 to open your 6D raw files, because it did not exist before these versions. Camera Raw updates are not usually provided for old versions of Adobe software.
Propriety raw format support can only be added after a new camera's release, unless manufacturers broadly adopt the DNG format as an alternative. Fortunately, DNG Converter is free, and you can use this to create DNG files from your Canon's raw files, to be opened in any version of CS/Lr.

  • Mail 5.2 doesn't display embedded images

Mail 5.2 (OS 10.7.4) no longer displays  embedded images. This happened after I installed an AirportExtreme wireless router. I can send images as attachments, but received mail with images displays blue box with ?. Using "download image" has no effect. Mail/preferences/ has " Display remote images in HTML messages" checked. The answers to similar questions don't seem to apply, or I just don't understand them. Can anyone advise me?

    johngar wrote:
I have tried forwarding the incoming message from my iPhone, which does display the images correcty, and from another account on my desktop. In both cases the thumbnails contain only "?" and "download image" does not work.
Ignoring the forwarded message from the iphone, is the message you forwarded from another account also a message that was originated on your iphone?
The mail program on the iPhone, which is supposedly the same as the mail program on my desktop, displays the thumbnails correctly and they expand to give the full size image. I take this to mean that the fault is not with the source of the images. I don't know how to imbed images, as opposed to attachments, in my e-mail, so I can't produce my own example.
What makes you think the mac mail program and the iphone mail program are the same program?  I don't think that.
The reason I wanted you to send a message to yourself on your mac using the mac mail was I wanted to get the iphone out of the equation.  If you cannot embed images in the mail message that is because all image, etc. are handled as enlosures due to the way the mail protocol works.  Perhaps that is why messages from the iphone appear the way you are seeing them, i.e, there's no way to embed an image and the iphone mail is not converting it to an enclosure.
If you are going to test from an iphone try sending the image as an enclosure and see if mail can handle that.

  • Doesn't display album covers for individually selected songs.  Why?

I just synced up my new iPod Classic and am surprised that it doesn't display album covers when I individually select songs or when it shuffles songs. The artwork is there - it displays them in Cover Flow or when I select songs from the Album list, but not when I select songs from the Song list or when it shuffles.  Why not?  Is there a setting I need to fix?

    You're adding the artwork incorrectly.
Instead of selecting the first track of the album, select the complete album. Then select File/Get Info and answer "yes" to the "multpile items" question. The Artwork box is now on the Info tab instead of its own tab. Paste the artwork into that one box and that will add it to the whole album.
I can't be precise about the detail, but as far as I know, there will be one piece of artwork and iTunes and your iPod will refer to that one picture for each track, so it will not be taking up extra storage space.
Pasting the artwork into each track individually will drive you crazy - and I suspect it will take up extra space.
(If fellow "discussions user" tt2 adds to this post, I'm pretty sure he will confirm {or not if I'm wrong} what I've said about the extra space used if you paste into each track individually.)

  • Displaying an image created at runtime.

I am creating an image at run time (a bar code). How do I display this?
To test a static image I placed the bar code image in the src/mimes/components/packages directory, then compiled that application and it worked perfectly.
I then created the bar code image at run time and wrote it to the same src/mimes/components/packages directory as above. The file was succesfully placed there, but the application does not display the image. If the application is then recompiled with a a hard coded value of the previous bar code in the getImageImageSource method it works.
I'm guessing that the run time repository for images is different to the design time one; is this is the case where should I be writing the image file and what should I return from the getImageImageSource method?

    Hallo Nigel,
you can apply the Web Dynpro Binary Cache. Just store URL of the cached resource within a context attribute and bind the image url to this attribute.
    Implement the following coding:

      //@@end

        //@@begin wdDoInit()

  • DW CS4 doesn't display updated images edited in PS

    Old way with DW8:
I would change/update an image in PhotoShop – save
over the old image – and DW would automatically
    display the new version.
    New way (DW CS4):
I do the same as above, and DW does NOT automatically display
the new image. I’ve tried hitting F5 (refresh) in the Files
column, which oddly, works once in awhile – but not usually.
I’ve tried closing out the page and re-opeing and that
doesn’t work. And I’ve tried re-inserting the image; no
luck. Stranger still – if I upload the new image to the
server, the new image will show up in a live view of the page
    – yet DW continues to display the old image.
I’m on a PC, running Windows XP (SP3)
    Any help would be appreciated…

  • Bridge will not display my image.

Here is what I get when I try and view an image in Bridge. It has been working fine and then all of a sudden I can't view images.
    Thanks!

You folder is "building criteria".  THat means it is compiling all the metadata on the images.  You also have the message on the bottom "disk space is low".  This could mean your cache disk is full or if you do not have a seperate cache disk your general disk is getting full.  You should have 10-20% free disk space for system to operate correctly.  For the math challenged if you have a 700 gig drive that would mean 70 to 140 gig of free space.
Dumping the cache will help, but it will have to be rebuilt.

  • Photo gallery created in Bridge doesn't display thumbnails and links work but don't display photos

  • Bridge CS6 occasionally displaying wrong 'Date Created' for .NEF's

I noticed this problem only recently, and this the third time it happens (that I know of).
Sometimes my Bridge puts a wrong Date Created (not Date File Created or Date File Modified) on a NEF RAW file, whilst the next one (taken perhaps just a few seconds or a minute later) has the proper date. Strangely the Date File Created & Modified do show the proper creation date.
    Example to clarify:
Metadata viewed on my D90 itself
    Photo 1 taken on: 30/09/2013, 9:03:26 PM (DD-MM-YYYY)
    Photo 2: 30/09/2013, 9:07:52 PM
    Photo 3: 30/09/2013, 9:08:12 PM
    Photo 4: 30/09/2013, 9:08:34 PM
    Photo 5: 30/09/2013, 9:08:54 PM
    Photo 6: 30/09/2013, 9:09:34 PM
    viewing in bridge:
    Photo 1: Date Created: 30/09/2013, 9:03:26 PM
Date File Created: 30/09/2013, 9:03:26 PM
Date File Modified: 30/09/2013, 9:03:26 PM
    Photo 2: Date Created: 30/09/2013, 9:07:52 PM

Date File Modified: 30/09/2013, 9:07:52 PM
    Photo 3: Date Created: 23/09/2013, 7:42:02 PM
Date File Created: 30/09/2013, 9:08:12 PM
Date File Modified: 30/09/2013, 9:08:12 PM
    Photo 4: Date Created: 30/09/2013, 9:08:34 PM
Date File Created: 30/09/2013, 9:08:34 PM
Date File Modified: 30/09/2013, 9:08:34 PM
    Photo 5: Date Created: 04/09/2013, 10:14:45 AM
Date File Created: 30/09/2013, 9:08:54 PM
Date File Modified: 30/09/2013, 9:08:54 PM
    Photo 6: Date Created: 04/09/2013, 10:15:06 AM
Date File Created: 30/09/2013, 9:09:34 PM
Date File Modified: 30/09/2013, 9:09:34 PM
As you can see, it's not a 'stable' deviation.
I could live with it, apart from one problem: the batch rename function only has 'Date Created' as option for renaming with date.
It's also quite annoying for my photography study, since my teachers might get confused by the wrong date in the Metadata when I turn my photo in.
I tried compacting the cache whilst my camera's SD card wasn't connected (so the files aren't 'available' anymore), no difference.
Another thing I tried was to hook my SD card up on a different computer, same result.
So it might be my SD card, but that doesn't explain why the correct date is shown on my D90 itself, though.
If anybody here has an idea how to fix / avoid this problem, help is much appreciated.
    Greetings,
    Alex

I have never inserted the 8GB card in the D3000 before just a minute ago.
And I just took 7 rapid photo's of my previous post (~1s interval)
All 7 displayed actual date in my camera, the first 4 displayed a wrong date in bridge (24/09/2013, times; 2:12:16PM, 2:12:20PM, 3:09:24PM and 3:10:26PM). Last 3 displayed proper time in bridge.
So yea, I'm pretty sure something is wrong. I'll try formatting the SD card (as suggested before) but however you look at it, this doesn't add up.
    edit:
Well I figured out one thing: if I view the photo's directly on my SD card through bridge, it shows the same date for Date Created, Date File Created and Date File Modified.
Quite logical, to be honest, since I am viewing the date the file was created on the camera.
However, if I export photo's with Adobe Photo Downloader (or whatever it's called again), it displays the date those copies were created (by Date File Created). Date File Modified is still ~the same as Date Created since it hasn't been modified since the original creation.
    edit2:
The formatting seems to have solved the issue, for now anyway. Still have no clue why the SD card got such (occasional) cases of drunkness.

  • Firefox doesn't display text of certain gmail messages seen correctly by IE

One email correspondent sends me messages which only occasionally fail to display on my gmail account browsed using current Firefox version. Same messages display fine in IE (how humiliating!). He has no idea what he's doing differently from one message to the next. I suspect it might be something about "pasted" in content. The header looks fine - just the body comes up blank. Forwarding to myself doesn't help. I've seen this about 6 times in 6 months - all from same sender - most of whose email comes thru fine. I'd suspect something else except for disturbing fact that IE reads these messages without any problem.

How safe is it to delete Lucida Grande from my Windows Fonts folder?
    </blockquote>
I think it depends on how it got there. If it was dropped by Safari for Windows, which is no longer a product that Apple supports, I think it's safe to remove. If it belongs to some other software, then that software might object to losing the font. I'm not sure of the best way to determine that. I suppose you could hedge your bets by dragging it into a different folder so Windows just doesn't see it.
