  • Link from BIEE Dashboard to BI Publisher doesn't work without administrator

    Hi everyone,
    I have a user with limited privileges on both BIEE Dashboard and BI Publisher.
    I have a Publisher report in Publisher and a dashboard in BIEE.
    When I add the Publisher report on the Dashboard and click on it to get redirected to Publisher, there's a problem and I'm get this:
    Unauthorized Access: please contact the administrator.
    The only thing I can do is log into Publisher with the username and browse to the report and execute.
    As the link works with Administrator use, I guess there is an issue with privileges in Publisher.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

  • OBIEE Integration existing BI Publisher Report

    I am trying to look for a work around exposing BI Publisher report via OBIEE Dashbaord;
    Originally; I used the gadget to link directly to the BI Publisher report and selected the relative path to open; I noticed, in having 10 links on one dashboard that it was hammering performance. • Passing a list of items from APEX to a Bi Publisher report

    I currently have Bi Publisher report that is parameter driven based on items selected from an APEX application. Currently, the user select one value for the parameter and the value is passed in the URL string and the report produces as expected. Now the user wants to be able to select items from a checkbox list and the items checked are the values to be passed. Has anyone ever dealt with this type of request and if yes, could you please point me in the right direction. I search the forum and I couldn't find any topics that dealt with my situation.

    Try using the "get content from textedit" action. More specifically, use your Applescript to dump the urls into a textedit doc and then use the "get contents..." action to feed the "get specified urls" action.

  • Select multiple values from the parameters in BI Publisher report  Error

    In the database, I wrote a function to retrieve data to report:
    FUNCTION FN_TL002(cBDSID nvarchar2)
    RETURN SYS_REFCURSOR as
    TYPE t_cursor is REF CURSOR;
    v_cursor t_cursor;
    begin
    OPEN v_cursor FOR
    select Brach, txmonth, txdate, total from tl001
    where brach in (cBDSID)
    order by brach;
    RETURN v_cursor;
    end fn_tl002;
    In Bi Publisher:
    - I have a type parameter Option select multiple ( pBranch), LOV get data from database.
    * In Data model : TL001 name
    + SQL query : select FN_TL002(:pBranch) from dual
    if select a value not error, and then select two values of an error: ORA-06553: PLS-306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'FN_TL002'
    please help me!
    Thanks all!

    See my response in the thread Re: Multi selecting drop down in BI publisher 11g report
    The LOV is a Java array and your function needs to accept that array. To do this the data data type has to be a VARRAY Type.

  • How to select multiple values from the parameters in BI Publisher report

    How to select multiple values from the parameter drop down in BI Publisher, and how to handle this mulitple values from the report sql...

    Hi kishore,
    I have used all the steps as you mentioned in your previous reply....including checking Mulitple Selection Check Box..
    Iam able to get the results when I am selecting one value..
    and also I am able to handle multiple values the in the query by using IN :Parameter, but seems when we select more than one value from the parameter drop down i think the Bi Publisher is sending the values in concatenated form something ilke
    ex: "'ACCOUNT','HR','SALES'" ,and when trying to display the parameters values in the output, its throwing the error as 'missing right paranthesis' ....on the whole do you have any solution which would handle
    1.Single selection.
    2.Multiple selection.
    3.'ALL' Values.
    4.Separating the concatenated string into individual strings and dispaly them on the output of the report..etc..in case of Mulitple selection.
    Ex:
    Concatenated String from BI Publisher:"'ACCOUNT','HR','SALES'"
    Expected Output on the report:ACCOUNT,HR,SALES
    reply to this would be much appreciated....
    thanks,

    Hi,
    It's OBIEE 10g related issue...
    Customer wants a Dashboard as PDF, Dashboard has a footer which has a HTML link. While saving this Dashboard into PDF file, it has the HTML text in footer place rather than HTML link.
    Can you please help me on this issue that how to resolve this.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
    This is a known bug in OBIEE. Refer to :
    BUG:7369585 - SUPPORT OF HTML TAGS IN PRINT TO PDF (NARRATIVE VIEW, DASHBOARD TEXT OBJECT)
    BUG:7476622 - HTML TO PDF NARRATIVE AND OTHER FORMATTING DIFFERS
    BUG:8787191 - NARRATIVE DOES NOT DISPLAY CORRECT FONT SIZE AND CENTER IN PDF
    BUG:9372634 - HTML TAGS SHOWN WHEN PRINT/EXPORT TO PDF
    NOTE:749246.1 - OBIEE 10g: When a Report is Downloaded to PDF Format it Shows the Embedded HTML Option Tag Values in the Report.
    BUG:12826562 - HTML TAGS AND CODE USED IN COLUMN FORMULA ARE VISIBLE IN REPORT PDF

    The workaround is to print the report to Excel or HTML.

  • Column values truncating when exported to excel from OBIEE dashboard

    Hi,
    I am fairly new to OBIEE. recently I am facing an issue, when I try to export a report using the download to Excel or download to excel2000 option, one of the 18 digit column value is truncated to exponential value. Like for example the column is ESN with 18 digit numbers like 268235457500823991. But when I export it I get only 268235457500823000 or 2.68235E+17. Please help what could have been the issue.....
    Thanks in advance!

    Convert it to text before you export it.

  • Browser performance issue when Calling BI Publisher report from OBIEE dashb

    Hi Techies,
    We installed OBIEE 10.1.3.3 on SunOS 5.9 unix box.This is PROD env.We are calling BIPublisher report from OBIEE dashboard by clicking the BIP reports link on OBIEE dashboard.After clikcing the link BIPublisher report is opening in another browser window.But is it taking time.
    Plz tell me how can we reduce the time taken to open BIPublisher report window when we cilck on the report name in OBIEE dashboard
    Thanks,

    Suresh
    There is no out of the box method to get the EBS report to OBIEE. You could look into moving the EBS report to a mountable web server directory after it completes and then show it in OBIEE via a link or html object. You will need to rename the report of course, every time you run it its going to change names.
    In an after report trigger you could call a small java class to move and rename the file for you.
    Alternatively, recreate the report in the standalone version. Be aware that you are going to have to set orgs yourself, BIP is not aware of orgs outside of EBS

  • How to show the Dashboard Filter Promts in a BI Publisher report?

    Hi,
    I have a problem when trying to pass Dashboard Prompt Filters from OBI Analysis to a Publisher Report?
    Im working in OBIEE 11g. Where I simply can integrate the BI publisher to show the same result set as shown in the Analysis (Answers) Report.
    I have also created dummy tables in my Analysis Report that shows the presentation variables from the prompts and I have also one dummy table that shows a session variable with a String when the DW was updated.
    I use these dummy tables to be able to pass the promt values to BI Publisher.
    The problem I have is that...
    I can see that the Strings I have Prompted in my Analysis Report, but only the default values are shown in my BIP report.
    -It works fine with my session variable that I display as a string in a dummy table as well as in the BIP report.
    -Is there any other way to show the prompted Filters as information in a BI Publisher report??????
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Is there a reason why you don't use the presentation variables directly to filter the BI publisher report?
    If you use the presentation variables, then ensure that the presentation variables associated with the prompt exactly matches the BIP report parameter name. In this case, you can create another datamodel with a sql that selects the parameters. for example: select :param1, :param2 from dual. In that case, the xml will include the parameter values and you should be just able to insert the param fields in the template.
    Thanks!

  • Link from OBIEE Report to BIP Report

    I have a requirement in which I need to Create a Report in OBIEE and the values used in the prompts to execute the report in OBIEE needs to be passed through a link to BIP and Execute BIP report for selcted parameters.
    The Report is working fine and I am able to pass the parameters from OBIEE to BIP but to make BIP Report function correctly. I have to apply same set of Parameters in BIP and they are visible in the header of the BIP Report.
    Now the Requirement is to hide those parameters from BIP Report and BIP Report should run for the selected parameters from OBIEE dashboard.. On doing this the values passed from OBIEE are not getting filltered in BIP report and BIP Report is running for all records. Is there an alternate way to achieve this?

    if you are on 11.1.1.6 version you can do it i think .

    Enhancements to Parameter Display Options
    Enhancements to parameter display options include:
    Support for radio button and check box display of values
    Parameters that are defined as a menu in the data model can now be configured to display the menu options as a list of radio buttons or check boxes. Parameters configured to support one value support the option to display as radio buttons. Parameters configured to support multiple values support the option to display as check boxes.
    New options for placement of parameters in the report viewer
    Previously the report viewer always displayed the parameters in a horizontal region across the top of the viewer. In this release the display of the parameter region can also be configured in one of the following ways:
    In a vertical region along the right side of the viewer
    As a dialog
    As a separate full page
    New report viewer action button to show or hide parameters
    This release adds an action button to the report viewer to enable users to hide or show the parameter region. This enhancement complements the new parameter display options. When report parameters are configured to display as a dialog or in a separate full page, the parameter display region is dismissed when the viewer displays the report. Use the Parameters button to redisplay the parameter region to make new selections.
    Search added to menus
    All parameter menus having more than a specified number of options provide a Search option. For more information, see Section 3.3.1.1, "The Parameter Search Dialog."
    Option to remove the Apply button
    Reports can now be configured to remove the parameter Apply button. In these reports the action of selecting a new parameter value automatically reruns the report.

  • Return link on OBIEE dashboard page

    When we have a drill down from a dashboard page to a report, we will have a return link on the report to navigate back to the dashboard page.
    But if we are drilling down to another dashboard page, Can we have the OBIEE return link functionality on the target dashboard page to navigate back to the first dashboard page?
    I have tried following options:
    1.When I tried to incorporate this using OBIEE Guided navigation link, navigation is happening with all the filters which is expected.
    2.I tried it with link rather than Guided navigation link, the navigation is happening like the page loading for the first time, hence the user has to re-enter the prompts fields for dashboard page execution.
    My Objects are dashboards D1,D2 and Report R1
    Drill down on D1 will navigate to D2 and drill down on D2 will navigate to Report R1 and clicking return on R1 will navigate to D2.To navigate from D2 back to D1, I need the OBIEE return functionality.
    Can anyone help me on this?
    Thanks Shravan

    Hi Srikanth,
    Thank you for your response.
    I tried to follow the content in the link and I get a Web Page Not Found response.
    I substitued the parameters of scid and the Portalpath.
    I am not sure what else is going wrong.
    What is expected is if D1 dashboard being executed with certain parameters before navigation, then on clicking the Return link, we need to get the dashboard page executed with same parameters which is like Back button.I will not be able to use the script for Back functionality of the browser as I also have a drill dwon from the D2 dashboard page to the Report R1. Hence on clicking on Return will take me to R1 rather than D1.
    Below is the execution sequence that is required:
    D1-->D2-->D1
    D1-->D2-->R1-->D2-->D1
    Hence I would like to know how can I get the OBIEE return link displayed on the dashboard page which we get on a drill down request.
    Thanks
    Shravan

  • Passing drill down filter to a BI Publisher report in 11G

    Let's say we have a dashboard with a prompt and a regular Answers report. The user expects the prompt to filter report 1 and then make a selection from the report1 to navigate to report 2 which is now being filtered by both the prompt and the selection from report 1. I looked through the documentation on BI Pub 11G and it looks like if we now navigate from report 2 to a BI Pub report only the dashboard prompt (via presentation variables) will be passed to the BI Pub report. Is there a way to also pass the filters created within report 1 and report 2 to BI Pub?
    Thanks.

    Hi. That helped. I get the right value now in the dropdownlist. When defining the dashboard prompt I wrote some custom SQL:
    SELECT "A11_DIM_PERIOD"."DESCTEXT", "A11_DIM_PERIOD"."KEY" FROM "promptsource" WHERE "A11_DIM_PERIOD"."DESCTEXT" IS NOT NULL ORDER BY "A11_DIM_PERIOD"."KEY". Now the prompt shows the display values but as soon as I select on and hit apply the dropdownlist text changes to the Key values (whicih is fine for my parameters, because they need to be key values rather than text) but this is unfortunate for the front end user, they will wonder "hey, why did the drop down list value I selected just change". Right now, I dont know why. The prompts work fine just odd that their display data changes from rpd logical column description field to sort field.
