Just got my Nano and love it... however the number one feature that is sorely missing is a crossfade capability, available in iTunes and most other MP3 player devices.
Apple... please add this number one capability for your next sw update!!

I own the Canon SX 50 HS and love it, however, I like the wide angle lens on the SX60 HS

The Canon sx 50 hs is an amazing little camera with great zoom capability and clarity. I have had it a little over 1 year. The new sx 60 hs has a few new features that I love...the wider angle lens, and the create custom effects. However, the stability of the camera is very shaky when zooming out. I am questioning the value of upgrading from the 50 to 60.
My shots are more abstract....zooming in on structures, eyes, etc. I can take photos from my car with the 50 but not sure that would be possible with the 60. I appreciate any input....or, is there another canon with the long zoom lilke by 50 with a few of the 60's features.

That is an aweful lot of zoom range to try and hold steady. The longer the focal length, the greater the shake will be, and the more a tripod or monopod is needed. Even long zooms for DSLR's have a difficult time with camera shake at the very long end of the zoom if not supported with a tripod. Any slight movement of your hand is greatly magnified at the long range and getting a steady shot can be near impossible. I would set up on a tripod and start to zoom in on the subject, then make adjustments to keep the subject centered in the view, then once you have the composition the way you want, zoom in the rest of the way. Then set a delay of at least two seconds for the shutter when you do take the shot. A remote trigger would be even better to avoid any possible camera shake.

The Apple technician can only go by what he or she sees, not by what you claim since not everyone is honest about what has happened. In addition, Apple's warranty does not cover defects that are strictly cosmetic:
This warranty does not apply: (a) [removed for brevity]; (b) to cosmetic damage, including but not limited to scratches, dents, and broken plastic on ports;
You can try pleading your case with the manager of the store, or with Apple Customer Relations (call Apple tech support and ask to speak with a customer relations agent), but they may not be able to do anything to help you.

TS1424 I tried downloading a new song by Josh Turner, "Time is Love". However, when trying to download Itunes gave an almost automatic response saying the file has been corrupted and there is basically nothing to download. How do I get my song?

You pay 1.29 for a song and you should get it. Itunes says the download is corrupted and check with the itunes store for available downloads to redownload my song. Nothing happens and the song I already purchased is not yet available to me.

LOVs in Business View Mgr

Hi Friends,
I have created a List of Values in Business View Manager by creating Connection-> Data Foundation (SQL based) -> Business Element -> Business View -> LOV.
However, I have been asked to schedule this LOV in Business View.
I have tested this LOV by using this in a Crystal report and found that the list is automatically getting updated with new values from the table in the database. I even changed ( deleted/inserted) values in the base/source table and found that the list was still getting updated when used in Crystal Reports without scheduling the LOV.
My question is that do I still need to schedule my LOV ? If yes, then why ?
Why is the list retrieving the latest results from the base table even when I have not scheduled it to be refreshed yet ? I was expecting to see the old list of values when using inside Crystal reports.

I'd recommend the chapter "Cascading LOV Data Access Tuning", it explains how you can configure your LOV to ensure on-demand access for each level of the LOV.

Problem with Lovs in same row of table

Hi all,
I am using two lovs in a row of advanced table.In first lov I am searching for few attributes and storing on of the values in a formValue(by using addLovRealtions(....,...,...,LOV_RESULT,...)). Based on this value I am using LOV_PASSIVE_CRITERIA to serach a value in second LOV. But when I am clicking on torch to search it's showing following message:
you must enter a value for searchVersionId as criteria for LOV.
where serachVersionId is formValue.
But Same LOVs if used outside this table are working properly. Can you guys please help me to pass value to formValue. I am posting that code snippet also where I am setting Lov relations.

Adding the lovMaps will work for items outside the table at any point of time, since the ids dont get changed for LOVs. However inside the table, every lov in each row will go through some id transformation, this will not allow dynamic lov maps to be added after the Lovs are rendered. You should have them relations declaratively

Select LOV in a report

I'm having a problem with the select LOV (query base) in my report. I'm using Application builder to construct my report. My query is this:

I consistantly get this error: ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
I don't get this problem if I change it to "display as text based on LOV". However, when I changed it to "Popup LOV based on query," I get Popup List of Values authentication failed.
Can anyone provide any insight on this?

How to get LOV column's DISPLAY value in IR report?

Hi,
I would like to get LOV column's DISPLAY value to trigger another javascript function. Could you please provide any hint?
For example, there is one IR report with 2 column, DEPT_NAME & SHOW.
The DEPT_NAME type is LOV .
The SHOW column is one link image, when clicking it , I would like to fire a javascript to get DEPT_NAME 's display value.
I know I can use #DEPT_NAME# to get the return value of LOV. However, how to get current row's DEPT_NAME's display value?

Is there any way you can create a table join, instead of using LOV as your display type?
That way you can select the name of the department in your IR query, display it as text, and then easily reference it as #DEPARTMENT_NAME#, for example.

LOV in Report limited by :APP_USER

I have a LOV in a tabular form. The LOV is built with this sql query:
select first_name||' '||last_name, id from master where ent_type in (select id from ent_type where trim(upper(description)) like '%STAFF%') and
trim(upper(auth_name)) = :APP_USER;
The tabular form is built on a simple sql statement that obviously pulls the field that this LOV is meant to populate.
If the person logged in is not '%STAFF%' and their auth_name does not match their :APP_USER value, nothing should show in the LOV unless the field is populated, in which case it should show the name of the staff that updated the field. To accomplish this, I assumed I would simply 'Show Extra Values' in the LOV. However, nothing shows up in the select list even if the person logged in is '%STAFF%' and their auth_name matches their :APP_USER, regardless of whether or not the field is populated.
I run the query in the above query in the 'SQL Commands' window and it returns the appropriate values.
What more troubling is that when I use a 'named' LOV, it seems to work fine. Very strange - any explanations?

Slight modification - I have the LOV working but it shows the id number of the '%STAFF%' in the master table when the milestone field is populated and I want it to show the name of the staff member from the master table. Any ideas?
Probably need to manually create a tabular form or is there another solution?

Dynamically subsetting a LOV based on a View Object

Hi,
Hoping you guys can help out. I am having issues with Partial Page Refresh and Dynamically
STATUS table ( STATUS_ID NUMBER, STATUS_NAME VARCHAR2(10)) with values 1 = Open, 2 = Won, 3 = Lost
ACTIVITIES ( ACTIVITY_ID NUMBER, ACTIVITY_NAME VARCHAR2(20), STATUS_ID NUMBER)
The list of permissible activities is dependent on the value of the Status Id and both are shown as LOV's in the same popup/dialog.
I've created EO's and VO's for both tables. I've created a query based view object called voPermissableActivities with sql "select * from activities act where act.status_id = :pStatusId " and have set up the bind variables, etc.
Against the Activities VO I created a LOV for the ActivityId using the voPermissableActivities.
I've set the autosubmit property of the Status Id LOV to true and created a ValueChangeListener for the Status LOV in the backing bean. I've also set the partialRefresh property of the Opportunity LOV to point to the Status LOV
In the StatusChange listener I
1. get the a DCIteratorBinding which points to the view iterator underpinning the two LOV's
2. using the iterator I get the value of the Status LOV
3. I then grab a reference to the ViewObject for voPermissableActivities and set the bind variable pStatusId to reflect the value of the Status LOV using the following code snippet

I've got a tonne of debugging code in the method and can see the server log accurately reflecting changes at the UI layer - so I know it's working properly - also the estimatedRowCount returns values I would expect to see. However, the values in the LOV based on the voPermissableActivities view are not changing. So, I'm guessing that the LOV does not properly get refreshed !? or at least, the ADF framework does not automatically refresh it. So, I then found the following snippet to pogrammetically refresh the LOV -

That works fine where I have a discrete and manageably small set of potential values - in the snippet I included there were 3 potential values - and it is feasible to prepare three VO's to drive the LOV. However, in the PRODUCTION version of what I'm trying to do I may have many more.
Any other thoughts?
One approach I wanted to explore was dynamically creating the VO at run time. Would that work?

POST-QUERY and LOV

Hi,
I created a POST-QUERY trigger on a LOV field; I have checked off âValidate from listâ, so the user is forced to use the LOV. However every time a user retrieves a record, and then tries to re-query, they get the message, âDo you want to save the changes you have made?â I assume this is because of the POST-QUERY trigger; when I uncheck the âValidate from listâ the forms runs correctly. Is there anyway to use the validate from list function, but without the save message?

this question has been asked before, and it has been suggested that they may not be drivers for TV@nywhere Master, as it is discontinued. the last i heard was MSI were waiting on the chipset vendor (Conexant). the only people who will know are MSI, and the more demand, the more likelihood of x64 drivers being released

LOV Find Problem

I'm a newbie, so bear with me. I created a form with a couple of LOVs. One is for looking up employees by full_name. When the LOV pops up I do a search on Ar% and I am returned all the employees with names starting with Ar. Now, if I don't choose anything and just change my search criteria, to say Br% and click the find button, nothing happens. The find button is greyed out. If I go back and put in the original search criteria again, it works fine. So, no matter what the search criteria, only the first search works. I have to close the LOV and start again to change the search. Is this normal behavior or am I doing something wrong?
Here are my LOV property settings:
Under the General section:
Subclass Information: LOV
Under the Functional section:
List Type: Record Group
Record Group: EMPLOYEE_RG
Column mappings are setup.
Filter before Display: Yes
Automatic Display: No
All of the rest of the Automatic properties are set to Yes.
I have another LOV for returning data from a small table and I have all the Functional section properties the same except for Filter Before Display, which is set to No. I don't have the problem with this LOV.
However, I've looked at some standard Oracle forms that have LOVs setup the same as my Employee LOV with Filter Before Display being set to Yes and they don't seem to have this problem. So, I'm scratching my head as to what could be causing this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
