Love the 4s but, hate the poor battery life.  My old 3 had a better battery.

Any solution to this problem other than an Apple replacement for the battery ?

I got my 4s on launch day. I have Wi-Fi on, Bluetooth on, Location services on, Push Notifications for eMail on and my battery is lasting about as much as my iPhone 4's (ok a little less being brutally honest).
I did tweak some settings, I back up to iCloud, but switched virtually all the Third Party Apps off in Manage Storage settings of iCloud.
Battery went down pretty quickly for the firat few days, now I'm getting a good few days between charges, but it depends on how much I use it. Charged 100% this morning @11:00 a.m iPhone 4s is now on 84% and I've used it quite a bit, but not heavily.

  • Has anyone found a solution to the poor battery life in Mavericks?

    Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has found a reliable solution to the poor battery life after updating to Mavericks. I tried to have the Mac shutdown by letting it go all the way dead and then charge it back up but it still is lousy. To literally see the battery guage go down in such a short period of time is surprising as I didn't have this in my previous OS. My machine is a five month old Macbook Pro Retina. I want to say I started seeing this change after installing the last Mail update for Mavericks. I definitely didn't encounter it after the initial update to Mavericks.
    Thoughts, comments, ideas?
    Ed

Read through the posts on the right side of the page under 'More Like This'. Several fixes have been mentioned amongst them. But as there was an issue in Mountain Lion that was rectified with an update then it may just be a case of waiting to see if Apple issue a solar update for Mavericks. Remember it has only been out two weeks so I would doubt that if there is an update coming for it that they would release it without thorough testing.
    Cheers
    Pete

I have a ipad 4th gen with the lightning charging port. I have realised how long it takes to charge and the poor battery life which means I can't take my ipad anywhere. Is there a case that is available that will charge my ipad? I know they are out there for older iPads with the 30pin charger but I can't find one for the lighning 8pin charger.

I don't know what you mean by "poor battery life". If your iPad is working properly you should get 9-10 hours of life.

  • My iphoe 5 has the poor battery life, how to fix it?

how to fix my iphone 5 battery? it is in the gurantee period!

Basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • SX 280 - The Life and Times of the Lowly Battery

I know there is another thread about the battery issues on this camera.  I have even posted there, but that thread is long and Canon seems to have forgetten about its issues with the battery.  So, here is a new thread that will hopefully get Canon's attention.  I do think they decided that the issue is closed after the latest firmware "fix," but it still is a problem.  So, ...
Canon, please convince me to keep the SX 280.  Please tell me that the latest firmware change to 1.0.2 was only one step in the process of resolving the poor battery life and hasty shutdown during the recording modes.
Do you monitor battery levels differently in picture mode and recording mode?  It sure seems like it. You definitely display different levels.  Is the level displayed in each mode an anticipated level and not a true level of power remaining?  If this isn't the case, then I do not understand why the levels are very different in the picture-taking and video-recording modes.  If the battery level starts flashing red (low battery warning) in the video mode, it should be flashing red in picture mode.  Instead, we see the battery level display fully charged or partially charged when switching to the picture mode from the flashing red of the video mode.
Zooming puts a drain on the battery.  No argument here.  But, I think that what the camera is doing is monitoring the battery level during a zoom and if it sees the battery level drop below some line, it triggers the red-flashing or shuts off the camera.  I think that the camera should allow the zoom to complete, THEN check the battery level. It might not be that low.  Of course this only seems to be an issue during recordin mode.
The battery gets quite warm, almost hot.  I wonder if battery life "improves" when used in cooler temperatures.
I am not sure if I am going to keep the camera.  I am hoping that Canon opens it eyes and ears and uses its intelligence to really determine the cause of the battery problem and FIX IT.  For now, Costco's excellent return policy will allow me to test this camera a bit longer.  My tests actually show a respectable amount of battery life, but there is still a problem in the video recording mode.  I am not much into video recording, but if I have it, I expect it to work.  It would really be nice to know how much battery power is remaining when doing anything on this camera.  I just want ONE BATTERY LEVEL that is displayed the same while in any camera mode.

I hope the above article will help you guys..

  • I love the new 6280 except...

...except that the earpiece is **bleep**! I don't like using handsfree nor bluetooth headsets so I rely on the phone's earpiece BUT it's volume is extremely LOW even if the volume setting is on MAX. Therefore, I have to go indoors to hear the voice of the person I'm calling.
Does anyone else find this annoying? Or is it just my phone that's having these problem?
My old 8210's earpiece is much louder than my 6280's...

I totally agree. It is a GREAT phone let down by this one major quirk. I recently took delivery of a 6280 with the latest firmware upgrade (v3.65) as of May 20, and the volume is definitely insufficient.
Here are the Loudspeaker problems are particularly bad with video and audio playback. I could live with the less than preferable volume levels for hands-free, but I can't accept the barely inaudible media playback – especially the barely inaudible voice recordings/ Dictaphone.
Even recording a few minutes of very loud music, I can barely hear the recording when I play it back!
Can anyone else verify if this can or will be fixed in a future firmware update? Sadly, I can't live with the risible volume levels! My 6230i had far better volume. Regardless, I'm sending it back to 02 for a replacement in the vain hope that a replacement may offer slightly better volume.
Can anyone offer any advise? Is the n80 better?
    Much appreciated
    Mark.

  • N95 Battery life possible solution to poor battery...

    Hi all
I like most other N95 users have experienced poor battery life, to the point of almost giving up on it.
I had been consistantly getting poor life even down to a couple of hours with all power hungry devices turned off.
Now my phone, with what I would consider average use, lasts up to 2 days on a full charge.
Like most people, I guess, I took it straight out of the box and plugged it in the wall charger and left it over night. I did this for the first week with still poor battery life.
Then one day it just started holding charge for up to 2 days.
I decided to read the manual the other night about charging the battery and right at the back of the book, where the instructions are, it mentions that if the battery has not been used for a while or has been in prolonged storage that what you should do is plug the charger in the wall and phone, switch on the charger and this is the key...unplug the charger from the phone and plug back in again. I guess this puts the battery into a discharge/recharge cycle.
If like me, you just plugged it straight into the phone and switched on the charger and left over night it may only have just topped up the battery without doing the discharge cycle first. In effect creating a battery memory effect although I thought that was a thing of the past.
Worth a shot before giving up on you N95's!
Like I said I now get on average 2 days use and that is with calls, pictures, texts and about 2 hours of GPS use a day.
I still have Wi-Fi scanning off and GSM turned off, I havn't got round to trying it with these functions turned back on.
    Good luck!

    WHAT??!? 200 hours on standby??
The truth, is this phone was made to be constantly plugged into car handsfree kit (not bluetooth) so that its constantly on charge. Bit like how a car GPS navigation unit, although removable, is constanly on charge while you are in the car driving.
Hence why the compromise- big power hungry screen and applications and hardware, low battery, but ok as constantly on charge.
Nokia Do NOT have a car kit for the N95 beleive me I have tried
I have been in touch with Nokia several times
The best I could do is a brodit active holder for car use
Yes The N95 should have a car kit but it does not have the pop port so will only connect on BT using even more battery power
So thats not the reason for the poor battery
Mine sometimes can last 10 to 15 hours and other days goes flat in under 3 and it is charged every night (it has to be) My N73 lasted 3 days and my 6230 last 2 weeks
Nokia user / modder since Nokia Orange and Mobira user too before that

  • Love the phone hate the battery life

So I just upgraded to the Bionic a couple of days ago... I had a Droid X before which in itself was a great phone and awesome battery life! Now with the Bionic is a great phone as well but the battery life leaves alot to be desired...
So far I have been trying different things to see what could be killing battery life:
     - Standard battery with phone on factory settings - 4 hrs max
     - Standard battery with all power saving, 4g turned off, data turned off as well as wifi and bluetooth - 4.5 hours
I see inthe discussions where the battery life is very good I am just not seeing it
So i went to the verizon wireless store with some questions and was told that 4 hours was unheard of..
Rep sold me the extended battery for the Bionic and i went and left it charge
Here is what the extended battery is doing:
    - factory settings - 6 hrs max
    - everything turned off and set to power save as before  - 9-10
Any ideas about this would be helpful

The battery life on the Bionic is great when compared to other 4G devices. If you purchased an extended battery and still have poor battery life, we know it's not a defective battery.  This could easily be the software or an application that is causing the issue. I've personally dealt with a couple 3rd party email apps that drastically reduce the battery life of the Bionic. Have you tried a master reset yet? If you've already done this, and you see no improvement, I would exchange the device under the 14-day Worry Free Guarantee.  If you are outside of that period, you can call the warranty number pre-stored in your contact list.
Thanks for posting! Please let us know how things work out.

@kaaremi, do you own an E7 so you are speaking from experience, or are you repeating reports/reviews you have read ? The Camera's capabilities you mention, are limited by EDOF not being good with macro photography, but the rest of your issues can either be resolved with 3rd party applications, or don't exist. My E7 displays any company information attached to the contact when I recieve a call and it works fine with time zones, plus of course, if the phone doesn't fulfill your requirements there is always the choice to choose an alternative ?

  • Aperture 3.1 - Love Full Screen Mode, Hate The System Lock-Ups

    Hi Guys,
I don't know if I'm the only person encountering this issue but Aperture 3 is driving me nuts. While I absolutely love the program and the full-screen mode, what I hate is the frequent lock-ups that force me to completely restart my iMac. Having the application lock-up is highly annoying but at least in "normal" mode I could kill the application from the Dock or Activity Monitor. However, when I'm operating in full-screen mode then I can't switch out of the application and seem to have no option but to completely restart my computer. This problem, which I first started experiencing with version 3.0 but which does seem to have been addressed in version 3.1, is happening so often that I'm afraid now to even use full-screen mode.
This problem only, to my memory, seems to happen when making adjustments but it does not seem to matter which adjustment. In the most recent occurrence the lock-up happened when I cancelled the application of a Crop by clicking the X icon on the Crop HUD.
Does anyone know either a) what might be causing the lock-ups, or b) how I can kill Aperture without having to completely restart my computer?

You could also set up SPACES to see if that works when lock up occurs in full screen
Apple Icon > System Preference > Desktop & Screen Saver > Hot corners
I have bottom left set to spaces
Then drop the mouse to bottom left, 4 windows appear, drag aperture to a seperate window and run there, you desktop is in a different space and can be accessed by bottom left of screen mouse movement (if the mouse works when A3 locks up)

  • Apple care is useless in India. I bought an iPhone 5 from a Maple store in June 2013.  Also got convinced at the store and purchased an additional Insurance worth Rs 1000 at the same time. The iPhone 5 has a very poor battery life. Needed to be charged at

Apple care has been of absolutely no help to me. My 10 month old iPhone 5 stopped charging one fine day and Apple denies any responsibility for  the same. Between my Family of 4, we Re currently using 5 Apple devices. Am so disappointed with the service from Apple. Although my cell phone is well within the warranty period , I have been denied a replacement. And the Shield Insurance that I purchased is now declining the insurance amount even. They insist I prove that it is an accidental damage. And Apple refuses to cover what they choose to call a 'physical damage'. So where does that leave me ?!

I cannot see the damage. But the screening centre has pics showing it is damaged. Apple refuses to cover a physical damage. But the reason the device is damaged could only be coz it had a poor battery life from start. The iPhone 5 is infamous for the same. We all know it. Apple conveniently denies responsibility.
And the Insurance company says it covers only accidental damage. Now how am I to prove an 'accidental' damage ? Unless I lie to them....

love the new forums... but hate the performance.  Keep in mind my internet connection is 20MB/S download speed, there are times the pages wont even finish loading and you have to stop and reload again and/or very slow loading times.  Of course, there are times the performance is as expected, but rarely.  I hope Adobe plans to support the forums with better hosting.

  • Love my MacBook, but can't stand the keyboard.  Any advice on modifying it

    Hi,
I have a 2008 MacBook (white) and hate the keyboard. Specifically:
    1. The keys do not travel as much as they should, which means they do not depress as far as I would like; and
    2. The keys are not scalloped. Every other keyboard/typewriter I've ever seen has scalloped keys, which means the keys are curved a tiny bit, lower in the center and higher on the edges. This allows the fingers to strike them more comfortably. MB keys are totally flat.
By way of example, I LOVE the keyboard on the old MB Pro (until a few months ago when Apple changed the MB Pro to have the same keyboard as the MB).
Does anyone know of a way to mod the MB's keyboard? I've searched but cannot find anyone who makes a custom keyboard or top case to swap into my MB.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

My personal feeling about this is you're probably out of luck. Since the keyboard is part of the whole body of the MacBook you're not going to be able to just drop another into it. You might be able to modify the keys themselves (although I'm not aware of any modification) but then you probably wouldn't be able to close the lid and it certainly wouldn't address your need for fuller play in the keys.
About the only thing you could do is use an external USB keyboard of your liking. That would work and you could pick any you like. Of course it wouldn't make it too portable hauling around the external keyboard everywhere with you but I think that maybe you're only choice.

  • Seem to have found the cause of my poor battery life...

I've been getting pretty poor battery life on my iPhone bought a few weeks ago, I never figured out why until a few days ago.
It seems that my display won't completely turn off. After I press the sleep/wake button, the screen goes black, icons disappear and screen is unresponsive, however, if I wait a few hours, it seems like the screen's backlight turns on by itself. The icons don't comeback and the iphone doesn't "wake-up" but I can definitely see that the screen is on and is displaying a black screen. Sometimes, I can see banding in the screen as well.
Obviously I've tried rebooting but I'll wait for a few more days before doing a restore.
So anyone else out there with poor battery life, keep a close eye on your screen and see if you're having the same problems. Best time to look is in the morning when the phone's been asleep for a few hours.
    Thanks!

tman: that's the first thing I tried, but it still prints off to the left and slightly moved up. My printer is a Konica Minolta C253. My predecessor has left files on the computer that print just fine, but when I use them as a template and put my own graphics in, it works some of the time and then for no reason just decides to stop printing in the center. I think it might have to do with the positioning of the paper in the printer....?

I have a late 2011 model MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.  I love the AirPlay mirroring feature with Apple TV...BUT, how do I mirror with TVs that don't have Apple TV?  I used to run a cable from my mini display port to the HDMI input of a TV.  This feature seems to be lost in the Mountain Lion upgrade.  Did Apple feel that once Mountain Lion came out that EVERYONE would have Apple TV?  There are no settings in System Preferences/Display like there used to be...only for AirPlay Mirroring.

Running a cable to the HDMI port is still supported. (and still works on mine).
If the Arrangement tab in System Preferences > Displays isn't present then it doesn't recognize the physical connection.  Double check all cables.  If that doesn't work try a PRAM reset:
