Low 3D Mark Score. (Fixed it)

Hi! I just ran 3D Mark 2001 SE on my system and I got aprox. 6000 3D Marks. How is this possible, when on my old PC with GeForce 4 and AMD Athlon XP 2000+ I was able to get 13 000?
I have all the drivers installed and there are no conflicts in Windows Device Manager.
Anti-alaising and tripple buffer, etc. are all disabled in nVidia driver pad and "Performance" is selected.
EDIT: It was just a bad run. Now I get 15300, so its OK.

You thought about going for faster ram?

  • Low CPU mark score with a64 3000+

I get around 650 to 680 cpu mark score with my system:
    MSI Neo Plat
    1Gig of PC3200 KINGSTON Ram
    A64 3000+ @ 2ghz
    Leadtek 6800
I've updated the latest nforce drivers from MSI and the bios is 1.2
I think it's way to low since I had 300 cpu mark score with my lousy Athlon 1.4Ghz thunderbird.
I see that other a64 3000+ users get around 800 to 950 cpu mark score. Why is mine too low? Bios settings? What should I check?
I see even a MSI Kt800 user with 840 cpu score!

Could you please post a link for the software benchmark that you are referring to?  I can't seem to find the right one.  I got something called CPUMark but it is scoring mine at like 3400 which isn't in the correct range based on what you've said so it's probably a different software.  Thanks for your help.  I just want to see where mine falls out.

We're running on two storage 4 GB JVMs.
We run a load test that will eventually make caches reach 700 MB (734003200 kb) on each JVM/node.
When the high-unit is reached (as advertized in JMX console), prune is triggered (CachePrunes is incremented in JMX console) but cache size (Units) stays around limit, never falls to (default) low-units mark (587202560 kb).
Is this normal behaviour?  I thought when high-units mark was reached, size was brought down to low-units mark.

I think that it is something wrong with kernel and graphic drivers but i'm not able to solve it from the beginning of using of Arch by me.
I'm not so sure this issue is software-related only because in my case it seems the laptop screen enters power-saving mode (10-min timeout) on its own without any events logged (as shown by dmesg) so my next thought was OK, I'm going to get rid of this issue disabling the screen power-saving timeout in the BIOS and set it to never power down or something like that and from then on managing power mode manually; ie: when I want to power down I will just use systemctl suspend/hibernate which work fine ... problem is: there are no related options in my BIOS for such timeout.
The only timeouts I have are in /etc/systemd/logind.conf set to 30min (#IdleActionSec) (commented) by default so these are not in effect because the screens goes blank after 10m which is less than the (default) 30m in logind. Maybe setting loggind to 9m (un-commented) to catch the event before the machine-default one ?
    IdleActionSec=9min
    IdleAction=suspend
Will check it and report back.

  • 3D Mark score reduction on BIOS update

    Hi All,
Anyone know of a reason why a BIOS upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2 should produce a significant reduction in 3D Mark scores (reduction of over 1500 points).
The only other thing that had changed during the two tests was that I switched the RAM to run dual channel.
    System Spec is:
    P4 3.4e
    MSI 915p Neo Platnium 2
    512 (2 x 256) Mb Samsung 533mhz  DDR2 Ram (Dual Channel)
    ASUS Extreme EN5900
    Windows XP SP2
    Thanks

Sorry, that should be BIOS version 1.1 to 1.3

  • Lousy 3D Mark Scores

3D Mark scores benching in at a paltry 2368.   3Ds  system configuration all jibe with my hardware specs, however when it comes to FSB it shows a zero total for bus speed.  My bios shows 133/266/66  any ideas? ?(

I know I'll take some flak for saying this but that benchmark only really tests your graphics card capabilities...
What are you expecting to see?  I mean if you're a gamer you should have a video card no less than a Geforce4 series to jump into the 5000+ scores.

  • 3D mark Scores!!!!

i have a question ? how can i know my 3d mark score ? or mac pro scores in 3d mark. thanks

If you want to compare your processing power with other computers, Mac or Windows, then Cinebench is really helpful. You get it from Maxon: http://www.maxon.net/
Then you will find comparisons at: http://www.3dfluff.com/mash/cinebench/top.php
I use it for 3D comparisons all the time.

    hello,
I tried 1024x768 and it gave me a score of  only 250 fps (Normal, texture color set to default).
I read somewhere in the net (also pls see http://www.anandtech.com/www.tomshardwareguide.com) of Intel 845G motherboard and MSI's 845G max getting a 283+ fps at 1024x768 Normal  and 300+ fps at 640x480 Normal with the ff. spec:
    Intel Northwood 2.4B 133x4 FSB  (mine is 2.48 @ 155x4)
    256MB DDR333 (mine is DDR412)
    Geforce4 ti 4600 128mb (mine is GF4 ti 4200 @310/600 64mb)
Also note these scores at 640x480 Normal
    GF4 ti4200  64mb @ 275/550 = 288fps
    GF4 ti4200  64mb @ 320/600 = 288.5 fps
Video card speed hardly make any difference in my Quake3 score
I need good Quake3 fps... i play a lot of OpenGL games!

  • Low 3D Mark 2001 score

I tested 3d mark 2001 on my pc, specs below, and i only score 9500 on the benchmark. What's wrong? Is it my PSU? Its the Q-tec 550Watt double fan psu. Ive been told its not that good but i should still get a higher score than that right?

An Antec (or ANY brand PSU, for that matter) will give you more headspace for future upgrades but it will not give you one single extra 3Dmark (in the same way that you will not get extra points for having an aluminium case   ).
    1. install 3dmark 2001SE;
    2. extra points will be gained with o/c-ing CPU and videocard;
    3. extra points will be gained with a "clean" system (remove as much of the background programs as possible, disconnect network and internet, defragment HD, etc.)
    4. choose fastest settings in control panel (some nice threads can be found on www.guru3d.com forum);
    5. compare the score with other comparable machines in the rankings of futuremark - is 9500 really that bad, btw?
    Hans
PS: Some scores that can be found on the internet: "typical": 10,000, "topscore": 16,000 (13,000 for non-ultra), 12,000 (on a 3.2 Pentium-based system) ... I guess that 9,500 is NOT really that bad ... but there is always room for improvement

  • PDFs are low res even with Fixed Resolution deselected

    Motion 5.0.6
I am working on a project with a single pdf file imported from Illustrator. There are no other layers in the file, the pdf has no filters applied and Fixed Resolution is selected off. Render is set to Full resolution and Quality to Normal. For some reason the image displays in low resolution when I zoom in. Any ideas? Thanks.

When no camera is present, you simply scale the PDF image, or you can manipulate the Position.Z paramater.
Fixed Resolution is Motion's way of keeping the brakes on a file that has potential for unlimited resolution. It's a safety net designed to keep performance reasonable.
When a PDF is imported, it comes into Motion with the document dimensions with which it was created, and Motion will render it on the canvas with those dimensions and set the resolution of the image with those dimensions. As long as Fixed Resolution is checked, it will be treated as a standard image even though it might contain vector shapes.
You have the option of unchecking Fixed Resolution, which will unleash your PDF on Motion and possibly affect the performance of the application (PDF vectors can consume huge amounts of video RAM especially when scaled to very large sizes.)
Another way to go, without unchecking Fixed Resolution is to change the dimensions of the PDF document, and Motion allows you to do that from within the application.
Below is a PDF I imported. Note the dimensions of 298x278:
(The Media tab is selected and the PDF layer is also selected -- then in the Inspector, the Media tab is where you'll find these controls [along with the Fixed Resolution checkbox... for those who might not know how to get to it])
Scaling the image greater than 100% in the canvas will result in softening of the image (like any other plain image) with fixed resolution on.
Below, I have modified the Fixed Width and Fixed Height (dragging one will automatically change the other based on the Pixel Aspect Ratio setting.)  In this example, I have reset the Fixed Width to 2000.0.
I can now resize (scale) my PDF up to the dimensions I have set with Fixed Width/Height -- with Fixed Resolution still on, and still maintain a pristine vector appearance of the image (as long as the Canvas view is at 100% or less).
It still limits the PDF vectors to reasonable limits and allows you to get the smooth line appearance you expect from vector shapes.
PS - You could even take advantage of the Fixed Resolution degrading the image as it gets "closer" in view by tweaking those parameters to create the illusion of losing focus.

  • Low battery warning percent fixed??

I have Vaio VPCYB15AG with Win 7 Ultimate SP1 32Bit retail. In it's advanced power options even though I can set percentage value for Low battery warning, I find that the warning is given (Blinking green power LED) when battery falls to 12%.Is this level kind of hard wired into the product or will it be a software / hardware bug? Thanks

    Hi mmp_2013,
Thank you for considering Sony Community!
If the LED or the light indicator is blinking, then something is going on with the battery. It could be hardware but we cannot tell right away. Please follow the steps here to isolate your issue:
Check the battery health on Vaio Care (Desktop) - If indicated as "critical" then it already hardware issue
Power cycle - Remove the battery and all peripherals -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds OR, if the battery is not removable, remove all peripherals-> look for a battery off button on the bottom of the laptop -> push the button for 5 seconds -> you may use a safety pin if you see a pinhole.
Reset BIOS - Turn off the unit -> press and power button and immediately, keep hitting F2 key. Once in BIOS, go to Exit tab -> Get Default Values -> hit Enter -> Save changes and exit.
Download or update Sony® Shared Library, Sony® Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver, BIOS Update Utility from Sony's website based on your location or from where you purchase the laptop.
Your Vaio VPCYB15AG is an Asia-Pacific model and we have limited information about your unit.
For further assistance regarding your concern, please contact the Sony offices/Sony representative offices nearest to your place of residence in Asia Pacific region http://www.sony-asia.com/countryselector.html?hpid=countryselector:AsiaPacific. • Synchrony/Lowes Denial - What score do they use?

I recently purchased a home and was looking to do some remodel, FICO 8 scores are Eq: 669 Ex: 703, Tu: 676, I figured I had a good shot at a lowes card and could probably recon for a nice limit and get all my stuff.  Well they denied me and they sent me a letter and my stated score was 437 WAY lower than what MyFICO gives. What score do they use? Any chance for a recon?

  • 3d mark score 50% of comparable system question

Last August purchased a Ti4200-VTD8X (602-8894-160) 128mb. Using Nvidia Driver 44.03 because Need For Speed Hot Pursuit won't work properly w/ Nvidia 45.23 nor MSI driver 45.32 and have been advised drivers any higher are for FX series with no gain on a GF series.
System is basic Dell Dimension 8250 P4 2.5 Ghz, 1Gb PC-1066 533 Mhz RDRAM, 4x AGP, Creative Labs SB Live 5.1,  Samsung DVD read & NEC CD R/W, Hauppauge TV Card. Intel onboard NIC. About 1 month left on warranty.
Been through the format C:, reinstall system many times with appropriate updates. Believe it's a good clean system w/ 821 Mb free memory, Task Mgr w/ no apps running shows only 23 processes running, commit charge is 127 mb of 2462 Mb Available. All video control panel settings are at best/high performance. Antivirus and firewall turned off.
Now the problem. Getting only 5200 3d Marks. Futuremark comparison graphs show comparable system should be getting approx 11000.
Been on the Dell Video Forum and Nvidia Usenet news group many times. Run many system tests, all getting good results.  All the gurus and I believe something is wrong with AGP sub-system on the motherboard. Have argued and argued with Dell who will only try to sell me an 8X AGP motherboard. They say for the card to get the higher score even though its supposedly 4X backward compatible it actually requires an 8X AGP MB to clock at peak performance.
Could they possibly be right or are they just blowin smoke and trying to welch out on a deserved new motherboard?  Just want opinions from those who know MSI Vid Cards.
Thanks for any opinions or support.  Might just Email Dell the results.

    Mr. J,
And you wonder why we all build our own systems. Sorry but:
    "Dude, you got Delled!"
Do not bother talking to the guys on the other line of that Dell "Award Winning Service and Support", all it is, is a a bunch of underpaid, unskilled people, asking you questions out of a book and depending on what you reply, they read what it says in the book to you.
To start with, the differnece between that card running at 8X vs 4X is less than 3% Performance, you will not be able to tell.
My guess is you do not have the proper GART Drivers for the AGP Slot.
Your Mobo is the Intel's 82850 chipset, so you want the .inf file from  Intel.
Then install the  nVidia ForceWare Drivers
    Take Care,
    Richard
P.S. We want your 3DMark2001SE score to be around 12k.

I tried putting an aiff file into my timeline and it made the audio on my narration track lower and now my video ads a few frames every second or so to make up for some sort of time accomodation that this aiff file created for my project. I don't know where to even start to fix this problem. Help!

just a thought to try to narrow down what's causing the issues, try converting the aiff to wav and see if that changes any of the issues your having.  Also check the kHz.  I've encounter some stange issues here and there mixing 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz in early versions of Premiere.
