  • My iPod says the battery is low, the apple symbol appears and then cycles back to low battery message?

My older iPod classic says when I dock it either with charger or hooked up to computer that the battery is low, the apple symbol appears, you can hear a whirring sound (hard drive coming on) then a clicking sound and then back to low battery message.  Has been doing this for the last week.

    Hey there Kevin,
It sounds like your iPod Classic is exhibiting some unexpected behaviour when you have it connected to your computer with the usb cable. I suggest the troubleshooting steps in the following article to help troubleshoot the device:
    iPod classic Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Start by resetting the iPod, then retesting the issue.
    Reset
    To reset your iPod:
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
    Tip:
If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • Low Battery Message on Barely Used iPod

I've been trying to get my iTunes to recognize my iPod, and I reset it while my iPod was plugged into my computer. However, after doing this, I got a low battery message on my iPod. I played 2 games on it last night, and it's been plugged in almost all of yesterday, last night, and this morning. What's going on with my iPod?

I'd suggest you try asking in the iPod forums. You'll be more likely to get help with battery issues there.
    Good luck.

  • Trouble starting ipod (very low battery message) and loop

Hello. I am having troble to start my ipod classic 5 generation. The message "please wait very low battery" (with an ipod with sad face) appears but the weird thing is that i just used it yesterday and i left it fully charged...but well. Then i try to charge the battery with a wall charger but it starts on a loop passing from the black screen with the apple logo, then it goes to the message "go to itunes/ipod/support" web site. and then it says again "please wait very low battery" just for a second and then it goes back to the black screen with apple logo and does this again and again. Then i tried to connect my ipod to the computer, after i do this it shows the message "please wait very low battery" and stays like this forever. I have tried ALL the suggestions, from trying to restart the ipod by clicking the middle button and the menu button at the same time (several times) and then clicking the middle button and the play button so it gows to the disk ode and nothing. I tryed witting it on the right corner and nothing. I already tested 3 usb different cables and nothing. It is not my usb port (i made tests with an ipod touch i have and works fine). Daaaaaaaaaarn!!! I really dont know waht to do now.
    Any advises please!!!!?
    Thanks a lot!
    Rick

  • Random Low Battery Messages

    Hello All,
I recently upgraded to iPhone 3G and I notice that I get that critically low battery warning popping up at least once a day. It tells me my battery is red and I need to plug it in like NOW. The thing is, I push the standby button twice (once to put it asleep, once to wake it back up) and it shows my battery as fine. It happens at random levels, sometimes almost all the way full, to sometimes around 20-30% full. The odd thing is that it will do it when I am not using the phone. I just see it turn itself on and pop up that screen as it sits on my desk. I know the battery has got charge because I will use it for a while after it happens and the battery indicator shows a normal charge. I just don't know why it pops up with that message. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi Train448,
Are you using any 3rd-party accessories with the iPhone?
Try restoring the iPhone as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744
If you continue seeing the message after restoring the iPhone it may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

  • N95 8GB Low battery message

Is there a way/program to switch off this annoying message (espesially when listening to music) when the battery runs low (i've turned off the beep sound). I think its really unnecessary and it further consumes battery life.

    Hmmmm Ok  Thanx anyway!!

  • Computer suddenly shuts down! No "low battery" message HELP!

Ok, about two weeks ago I plugged by computer into a desk lamp at a hotel. Appearately there was a voltage issue and I heard a pop then my computer blacked out! I had to restart and when I did all my "stuff" was gone! I was able to recover my documents, etc but it was a little scary! Ever since then I have to keep my power cord plugged in. I can unplug it but it will calculate my battery life as 1 hour then will completely shut down in the next 10-20 minutes. And when I plug it back in I have to completely restart. What do I do now?

  • Low battery and switch to outlet power message

Lately, I've been getting a low battery message which asks me to switch to outlet power - even when the outlet power is already plugged in.
Is there any way to "switch" to outlet power without taking out the battery?
My battery seems to charge better with my machine on - is this possible? For example, the battery did not charge overnight - don't know why. It was a 6% this morning. Left the machine for an hour and it was up to 81%. I've been using it for another hour and it is up to 95%
By the way, I'm in Egypt where the power surges are terrible. I don't know whether it is safer to run on just outlet power with a surge protector or on battery power. Any advice?
(Power surges have already taken out my CD player, coffee machine and iron even though these were all on low level surge protectors).

    Hi Kate,
Unfortunately not. The switching of power between battery and DC is controlled by a chip on your motherboard. This allows for the current being passed to the battery for charging purposes to be adjusted as the battery charge level rises until the battery is fully charged whereupon the charge current will be shut off.
The actual charge state of the battery is detected by the chip when the notebook is connected to the DC supply, and this information is passed to the Power Management utility so that it can be displayed/monitored.
Running on just battery will only give you a relatively short period of use between charges (depending on what applications you are using) so may prove inconvenient.
I personally would run on mains supply (with the battery installed) and just keep on eye on the power icon in the system tray. Set a different colour for the power icon so that you can see if the unit has switched to battery power.
This way you will not be caught out by the battery running down unexpectedly.
Sorry that I can't offer a better solution.

  • 30GB iPod Video not being recognized by iTunes and low battery warning

This is without a USB connection to mu Vista machine
    1. I hear a clicking sound (it comes from the HD) on start up.
    2. A dark Apple icon appears
    3. Then the back light comes on with the sad face iPod icon and exclamation point.
    4. It then shuts down and screen goes off.
Plug it into a USB port and same issue but the screen shows an un-backlit "Please Wait Very Low Battery" message.
If I leave it plugged into the USB port it just cycles through the process.
Note too that the iPod is not recognized by iTunes.
I have done the reset process without success.
I thiught I had a bad HD and/or battery so I replaced both. I get the same issues.
    Anyone have an idea?
    DAve

Well I tried putting the old hard drive back in and it was recognized in iTunes. All is well now.
I think the issue is that once the battery is totally run down there is no way for the thing to get enough power from a USB port to bootstrap itself.
I finally let thing recharge from a wall adapter all day.
I suggest you try to get it charged via the car adapter overnight. Of course the car port must be supplying power with the key off.
The Apple store people said they fix this type of issue by charging the ipod for 20 mimutes with a high power charger (I assume this is a 1394 type).
All these issues coulkd be solved with a better design,

  • My ipod is stuck on low battery!!!!! and wont charge

this might be a lil long but please bare with me!
my ipod wont charge. i whiped out my computer last weekend and had to put all my songs back onto my ipod. it was fully charged and worked fine for me.. now my battery is dead and ive plugged it into my computer and right before the ipod died it said i needed to restore it. and i couldnt bc my internet was down. now my ipod battery is dead and i cant charge it.. does anyone kno what to do? and when i plug my ipod in, it shows a battery with a circle on it and under it it says very low battery please wait.. and there is that little flower looking thing and it shows as if it was loading but nothing is happening it wont charge and i cant restore it.. is their any other way to do it??? i charged it mostly on my elbow that i had in my car but i dont have that anymore!! please get back to me, id appreciate it..

I dont know if this can help anybody, but I got the same issue. I sent the iPod to Apple for repair twice, and they sent it back to me saying their was noting wrong with it. I had the time to sync it once, then it got stuck on the Apple logo, and after a while the "very low battery" message showed.
It turn out the I got a playlist in iTunes of more then 65000 song (I dont know how my sons did it...) and it somehow messed the iPod completelly.
To reset it, I force the iPod into diskmode: you reset it using the center-menu buttons combo, then immediatly press the center and play buttons. It turns the iPod into disk mode and then you can restore it in iTunes.
    Hope this help

  • Ipod will not charge, keeps resetting, extremely low battery.

    Someone please help!!
I adore my Ipod, its 2+, it was working fine, till a few months ago.
In the beginning, it stopped charging on the computer, it synced, but i would have to charge in on a Ipod radio thing first.
Then after awhile, on the radio, (it worked perfectly at first) the ipod would come up with the message, "This accessory not supported by Ipod", it would still play on it, movies, songs, and charge it, but the message would come up every often.
Now it refused to be recognized by the radio, and won't charge.
(yet if you press play the song and movies will play)
It had very little battery left so i bought a wall charger.
I tried charging with a wall charger and car charger!
Now its basically dead, and when i plug it on to the wall charger, the apple logo comes on, and it goes to low battery message, then apple logo..again again.
It just keeps resetting, so i took it off that.
Leaving on the charger for awhile won't work, because it just keeps doing that.
    What do i do?
I can't restore it, because i'd have to charge it first!
(I got a new battery for it a few weeks ago, the battery life was way better, charged a bit faster, and it seemed to work better, but the computer still drained it)
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Please please please.
I swear i love it, but i'm going to throw it out the window soon.
    -edit,
just to add, the first thing that went wrong, that started this thing, was when i got that -48 error, it doesn't do that anymore just to add

I have the same problem and sent my ipod to a the service center for a battery replacement. I was informed by them first by email that "Our technicians have performed full diagnostic checks on your IPOD 5TH GENERATION and have been unable to reproduce the symptom(s) you reported when you requested the repair. As a result of our tests, we can confirm that your product meets Apple specifications for performance, usability, and functionality." then I was told over the phone that they reloaded the software and firmware and that it is working properly and is being sent back to me. Then, and heres the kicker, I received my i pod back with a form stating it was a hardware failure affecting another component. I have since called multiple times and no one can tell me where the hardware failure is but the ipod still says its a battery issue. Go figure i think apple knows exactly what the faulty part is that is causing this error and has no solution short of replacing the unit and they dont want to replace the units of all those with this hardware failure

  • Error msg on screen say low battery 20% of battery remaining

recieving error msg on screen say low battery 20% of battery remaining

    chiggins3140,
Yeah, that 20% battery notification is normal - it's not an error message. There should be a "Dismiss" button. Tap it and the low battery message will disappear.

  • Macbook shuts down when low battery instead of going to sleep

    Hi
Well basically my laptop shuts itself down instead of going to sleep when my battery gets low. I also do not get the low battery message. My macbook will usually shut down when it gets to approximately 6% of battery life. What should I do?
    Thanks
    Sarah.

Have you done the battery update? You might also try to reset the SMC and/or PRAM.
If it doesn't work you may need a new battery. The original core duo batteries have had an extra year added to their warranty so even if your computer is not covered the battery is. My MacBook was doing the same thing except at 28%. Apple replaced my battery and it works fine now.
If you call Apple be polite but firm some people have had trouble from some of the reps. Mine went smoothly I had a new battery in 3 days.
