  • Low broadband speeds, connection keeps dropping

Recently I have seen broadband speeds drop from about 11mb to about 2. this is coupled with the home hub 4 constantly dropping the connection and the orange power light flashing orange.
Bt have been here but claim no problem on the line.
I am starting to think this is related to the latest firmware upgrade. Is there anyway to roll back to test this theory. Or does anyone have any other suggestions.
    Thanks
    James

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
    Lines should look like this
19:11:29, 07 Nov. (2290101.460000) DSL noise margin: 7.00 dB upstream, 6.10 dB downstream
19:11:29, 07 Nov. (2290101.390000) DSL line rate: 448 Kbps upstream, 288 Kbps downstream
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Navigation Cannot Start from this location. ERROR ...

Navigation used to work fine on my X6, but since having to do a hard reset of the phone (due to other problems!) I cannot use the Navigation.
Everytime I get the error 'navigation cannot start at this location' and it doesn't seem like the phone can ever pick up my location.
I have tried un-installing and re-installing the application but to no-avail!
I haven't even wasted my time calling Nokia Support, as they are totally useless!
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this please?
I am gutted, my phone used to be amazing, now it seems as soon as I resolve one issue, there becomes another!!

After a huge update of my maps 3.06 using wifi direct to my N8 anytime I tried using destination on my phone only to get an error message "car navigation cannot start from this location". It didn't matter where I wanted to go to I got the same message. I use navigation more than any other app on my phone even phoning and texting and this is why I stay with Nokia so to loose my navigation would be a diaster. I googled the problem and found some tips to delete "cities" and any map files I could find but to no avail. I did a hard reset but stillI couldn't navigate and  in OVI Store Installed Apps I could see Ovi maps and navigation 3.6 and also 3.08. I googled how to delete Ovi Suite Installed apps and got the tip to install Nokia Suite 7.1 which I did and deleted every file with map in i's namet . I was left with a file maps 3.08 4kb in size which couldn't be deleted but I continued and installed Maps 3.06 again and after a little fine tuning I can now navigate with data turned off again. Yahoooeeeeee

  • Backup from 6 months ago and tonight available not from this morning

    Hello,
I have an iphone 3G and a Windows 7 OP. I synchronised the iphone in the morning I did the same in the evening and everything is gone. So I browsed to the folder MobileSync and I found a folder from 6 months ago and the current one which has no data besides the standard.
My question how can this happen and might the relevant backups be stored somewhere else or is there any other possible way to get my backup from this morning?

    Hi,
The backups are stored in iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences - Devices.
is there any other possible way to get my backup from this morning?
If that backup is present in the iTunes / Preferences - Devices window, you should be able to use the Restore function from the Summary tab in the iTunes menu.

    Hi SUBRAMANIAN,
Are you still facing this issue? It seems to be conflict to me.
Are you using any third party plugins with Acrobat? Try disabling and to use it again.

  • HT3275 Has anyone come across the red "i" message saying "The backup disk image "/Volumes/Chris...(the last bit being) iMac.sparsebundle" is already in use? This has prevented my time machine from backing up from this morning (5th Dec 2012).

Has anyone come across the red "i" message saying "The backup disk image "/Volumes/Chris...(the last bit being) iMac.sparsebundle" is already in use."?
As of yesterday (4th Dec 2012) everything was fine, no trouble or problems at all. Wake up this morning, turn on the computer and when it came time to backup itself, the message occurred above and this has prevented my time machine from backing up from this morning (5th Dec 2012) ever since then.
Everything on my computer is up-to-date but this problem still persists displaying this message practically every hour, on the hour and nothing is getting backedup!
If you know what is going on and more importantly, how to fix this, I would be indebted to you for sharing your knowledge with me on this subject.
    Thank you.

Hi - My ipad 2 automatically backed up this morning. After which I stupidly updated it to ios7.1. Can I erase the ipad and redownload the last backup from this morning from icloud?

No, there is no way to down level the iOS .

  • TS1398 Despite trying the recommended options listed above, my Ipad will not connect to our home Wi-Fi. The problem has  only started happening this morning. The ipad recognises the wi-fi network but will not connect.

Despite trying the recommended trouble shooting options, my I pad will not connect to our home Wi-Fi network. The problem only started occurring this morning, and although it will recognise the Wi-Fi network, it will not connect.
Any other options I can try????

Try rebooting the router. Just pull the power for a few seconds. No settings are lost.

  • Low Broadband speed = line fault?

    Hi,
We have had a very slow download speed since the high winds started last week (live in a rural area about 1 mile from exchange).
I have run through the BT Broadband speed wizard & not improved the speed.
    ADSL Speedtest results are:
    Download speed achieved - 194Kbps
                               Acceptable = 50-250Kbps
                               DSL 3424Kbps (downstream)
                                          448Kbps (upstream)
                               IP Profile = 250Kbps
Now, I don't know what it was before - but this appears to me to be pretty slow!
If I understand the notes correctly? for 3424Kbps we should be getting 600 to 7150Kbps throughput speed?
All I know, is that pages are taking an age to load...
Any thoughts on what to do next please?

  • Broadband speed dropped from 10Mb to 250K overnigh...

My broadband speeds have dropped massively overnight and I was wondering if any of the experts on here can give me some guidance on what to try or to do next?
I've been on BT Total Broadband for ages and it was running typically at about 10Mbps according to occasional checks on Speedtest.net since early May when my line was upgraded - previous had been at about 6Mb. However, today I noticed my internet access was sluggish, I tried Speedtest.net again and was shocked to find I was being quoted a download speed of 0.24Mb (upload strangely was higher at 0.38). I then tried Speedtester.bt.com and it says my IP profile is 250Kbps with an actual speed of 159Kbps, so this makes it sound like I'm being throttled down, yet I haven't even come close to any limits. Also it's a bit strange to have it happen so suddenly - everything was working fine last night and the router has been on 24/7 (although I did reset it this morning thinking that maybe this would solve the speed issue - no such luck!)
I'll post the stats from the Speedtest and from my router below (I use a Belkin, not the Homehub in case that makes a difference), but would appreciate some ideas about what might have happened and anything I can do.
    ---------- Speedtester.bt.com -----------
Download speed achieved during the test was - 159 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.

     Your DSL Connection Rate :1496 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 536 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 250 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 19.52:25.06:55.42 (SBE:NBEBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

Hi there I'm also having the same problem unfortunately.  A coupe of days ago I was transferring a file from my laptop to my desktop via wireless and it caused my home hub 2 to hang.  I had to reboot it a couple of times to get it working again but once it was back up again I found browsing to be really slow.  I went on speedtest.net and discovered that I was getting 250k down and about 300k up.  I power cycled the home hub a few times and checked all of my microfilters and connections (just to be on the safe side) but it was still slow.  I went on the btspeedtest site and it is showing that my ip profile is 250k even though I am connected at 4,500k.  I called the bt helpdesk this evening and was told that there looks like there was a problem but that they are showing my ip profile as being 3000k now and that I should check in a few hours on the bt speedtest site again.  Well I did and it's still showing as 250k.  The details from my hub and the speedtest site are below.  Any thoughts and help would be very greatly appreciated.

  • Low broadband speed (narrowband)

On the 14th of January I lost my telephone service and obviously my broadband.
I telephoned the help line with my mobile phone  and after speaking with an Indian lady in India for 45 minutes she said she was going to run some tests and please would I not use the telephone or the broadband while she did it.  I informed her that I had said right at the beginning that my telephone and broadband was not working, se then said that she now had to pass me onto a different department!
I was put through to another lady this time in England who told me what the problem was in 2 minutes. Why can’t you have your call centre in this country so that the staff can understand the problem?
On Wednesday 19th January an engineer called to fix the telephone line and I can now use the land line telephone.
That evening I switched on my computer and the broadband was working but extremely slow, I called the broadband help line and they ran some tests and got me to do some things like re-cycling the router etc.
I borrowed a router (the same as mine) from my friend who lives 3 doors away, we plugged my router and then afterwards tried his straight into the master socket, we tried 2 different computers and 2 filters, all had the same symptoms broadband speed or 135 kb/s.
An engineer was sent out on the 1st of February and he said that he would not leave until it was fixed.  He left saying that I would have up to 11 MB/s within 24 hours.
    Today I have 250 KB/s
I have now spent in excess of 8 hours on the phone and I have not got anywhere.
Every time I phone the broadband help i am told that I have to wait another 24 to 48 hours for it to fix itself
It is now Saturday 6th February and my download speed is 144 kb/s
I have now been without broadband for 24 days
My line speed is 11 Mb/s but the download speed is capped at 250 kb/s (from the bt speed test)
How many more weeks do I have to wait - nobody at BT cares
I am a very unhapy non user.

If the password on the card which was shipped with the homehub doesn't work or the password page doesn't let you in, try and reset your home hub (Stick a pen into the little red button and press it) and then try what John says

  • Broadband Speed dropped from 7Mbps to 2.5Mbps

    Hi All,
I have been having a consistent speed averaging about 6Mbps for several years.
My Draytek router sync speed is now showing about 2Mbps. Can BT and they said "you were lucky to have such a great speed - we think 1.5Mpbs plus is acceptable" and would not do anything.
I have done the usual master socket tests and it did not make any difference to the sync speed.
So I plugged in my BT Home Hub with I don't usually use and it seems to have synced at 7.5Mbps.
Real throughput is still about 1.5Mbps using "speedtest.net"
Question is is the "IP Profile" on my line causing the slowdown and will the "'IP profile" reset itself after a few hours/a day or do i need to have it manuall reset?
Thanks in advance for any help.
