Low Charging Volts

So the last few days my charger, L-style Mag-safe, would work on and off. When I play with the wire that seemed to do nothing. I've fixed the charger before from cuts in the wire and once the wire broke connection in the box. So I have taken the box apart before, but after fixing it it worked. So today the charger just stopped working completly, I thought the wire broke connection on the mag-safe tip so I took that apart. The wires didnt look to good on it so I cut down the wire a little bit and fixed it still nothing. Took apart the box to check the solder joints in there and they are good, so I check volts coming from the wall though the large cable 120v good, look on the box says output should be 15.5V, 3.65A, so I check that on the wire coming out of the box and Im getting 6.9V and 0.00A. I do not know what to check next, please help.

If setting up as new device does not help, you should contact Apple Support, they can conduct a battery test to find out more. Or visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider to get it checked.

what am i supposed to do when my mac says it's in the not charging state and says that the battery is holding a significantly lower charge than normal?

Go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you are running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion), then select Power from the left hand column of the System Profiler. Copy and paste the Battery Information from the top of the page back here.

  • Ipod says very low charge but then doesnt charge

i have had my ipod for a while now, a 30gig video, and this is the first time it has played up. i was using it and i ran it all the way down to no abttery. then as usual i brought it home, plugged it into the computer and it comes up very low cgarge - wait a moment or what ever it says; fair enough. but its been that way for 3 days now. every now and then it goes to the apple screen, the black screen with the apple sign in the middle. has this happened to anyone and does anyone know how to fix it or whats wrong?
    cheers

Have a look at these. They may help.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
iPod shows only an Apple logo and doesn't start up.
Only the Apple logo appears when turned on.
Sometimes if the battery gets completely discharged, simply connecting to a USB port on the computer doesn't supply enough power to "kick start" the charging process. In theory it should do, but yours seems to be a common problem.
Do you have access to a wall charger?

  • Battery low charge -- n00b action

Ok. So for the last week or so I have had really bad battery life on my iphone. Does not charge fully over night while its off in the dock and only lasts about a day.
Well, after investigating and trying to figure out why, I decided to switch power outlets and I noticed that all this time I had the apple charger upside down in the wall outlet!
Now the phone charges perfectly overnight and lasts over 2 days!
But, my concern is, since I have been charging it upside down (which seems to have adverse effects on the battery life and charge cycles) have I damaged my iphone at all?

Yes, good advice indeed. I actually performed the action about a week ago trying to fix my charging problem, but ever since I flipped the apple charger back over, its been fine! I just hope I have not damaged my battery or if anyone knows if it will damage it?
However, to all those with battery life issues, check your charger to see it is right-side up!!!

  • Overclock Phenom x4 9950 2.6GHZ stock to 3.1 with 1.46v. Should I lower the volt

Do you think 1.46 is high on the voltage should I lower it, right now it pretty fine. Just wondering what a good voltage to set it at?

This whole overclocking game is about getting more for the money.
well unlocking cores isnt the same as plain oc-ing now is it ??
and if you wanna drive lambo speeds with a ford, good luck, you'll never get there and if you do, its a short time before it burns up.
As said, I mean no disrespect or whatsoever, but you point to the problem yourselfQuote from: Klimentiy on 07-October-10, 08:21:59
So if i got switch right now the BIOS to a dual core then the graphics will be just fine, but as a quad core they are messed up.
bottomline, something is probably amiss with those other cores. they lock them for a reason, not for fun.
    edit:
The fact it doesnt work with core 1enabled only, might have to do with the fact that its another core then when its core 1 in dualcore mode.
Are there ways to set priority for cores in bios? If so try playing with that.
Or you can try to update your bios to see if that helps.

  • Low charge capacity.

    Hi,
My laptop has recently been going into sleep mode on me randomly while I have been using it. It seems to think that the battery is not charged and shuts off as if the battery has died. The charger led light then tuns orange and until it turns green, the notebook weren't turn back on. I suspected that this was a battery problem and I decided to look at the power information in system info. I then saw this:
    Charge Information:
      Charge Remaining (mAh): 129
      Fully Charged: Yes
      Charging: No
      Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 129
    Health Information:
      Cycle Count: 279
      Condition: Service Battery
Searching on the internet, I learned that my charge capacity should be somewhere in the 5000 range. All I did was reset the SMC a few times, but that didn't help. Is there something wrong with the physical battery or some software? If it's defective, is it covered under warranty and if not how much should I expect to pay?
    System Information:
Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)

Dang, alright thanks. Does that mean there's no fix for the computer randomly sleeping even while plugged in? I thought that even if the battery is dead I should still be able to use AC power.

  • HT4060 Is it true you hve to let the IPad battery get real low before you charge it?

I have been told that if I charge the iPad when it is at 1/2 charge that the iPad will start to remember that it needs charged again. I was told the iPad will think it is a in a lower charge than it actually is.  So if I charge it every day at 1/2 charge by the time it gets to 1/2 charge, it will slow down or may not work.  This doesn't make any sense to me.  If full, is 100%  50% 20% why would the iPad think it needed charged when it was at half charge.  Does it have a  mind. Does it cause it to think in that position if I charge it at 1/2 charge? Does it sinc in that spot?  Hope you understand what I am trying to tell you.  My son is good with the computer electronics but this has me stumped?
    Thank You, Judy Venema

    FYI
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My iPhone 3GS doesn't take the charge and reboots all the time

my iphone went to deep discharge and now when i connect it
to a computer (Mac or PC) or to a socket it doesn't take the charge ...
sometimes it seems to take the charge (volt icon appears)
but then it boots again and again and i'm stuck into that cycle ..
tried to press both buttons more than 10 seconds without success ...
    Thanks for the help

It sounds like you need a new battery?
    How old is the battery?
I'm not an expert, but I think Li-ion batteries are better at delivering a steady voltage, even at low charge levels (minimizing the 'memory effect'), but once they go bad they drop off a cliff. At least, that's what I've heard.

  • 8800 does not power on but shows the charging symbol! HELP!

    Hello everyone,
I have been searching for days now across the web for a solution to a very bugging situation. A'las i am close to giving up. someone please try and help. So here is the problem: I recently bought a 8800 rim (branded for cingular/AT&T but UNLOCKED) from ebay powerseller with 100% rep. it was advertised in MINt condition.
It arrived two days later and seemed in great physical condition.
So i plug in the charger and let it charge for more than 8 hours. I try turning it on but to no avail. During the charge the screen goes dimly on and shows a battery with an electric bolt going through (I assume that means charging..).
It initially seemed to me as a battery problem. So i took it to a local store and borrowed one of their batteries for 8800 and the phone started working fine also made a call with my temporary T-mobile sim inserted. (although their battery was also on low charge)---
So i come home and with a new OEM 8800 battery. plugged it in and charged for like 4 hours and the screen goes on with the charging symbol but does not power on.
I have repeatedly searched through the WWW and came across wide variety of dilemmas but none were any helpful. I also tried installing the latest OS...which also spectacularly failed [got an error that ...loading failed during the mult-load seesion...or something like that. I followed several very well written guides [advising that the manager and OS be installed on PC and etc.].
SO I MAKE A DESPERATE REQUEST FOR HELP FROM ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN HELP. WHAT'S THE DIAGNOSIS WITH THIS BB. IT WAS ABLE TO WORK WITH THE BORROWED BATTERY FROM A LOCAL STORE..EVEN MADE A CALL AND EVERYTHING...BUT WITH THE BATTERY THAT CAME WITH THE eBay PURCHASE AND THE THE BRAND NEW THAT I BOUGHT....IT DOES NOT POWER ON.
BESIDES HOW LONG SHOULD I BE CHARGING IF IT IS NEW OR IF THE PHONE HAS NOT BEEN IN USE FROM SOME TIME??
    THANKS IN ADVANCE.
    Please help ASAP.

How are you charging the BlackBerry? Do you have a wall charger or are you charging via USB cable from your PC? Its also possible that the charging circut in your BlackBerry is faulty. This would explain why a charged battery works while your uncharged battery is not.

  • Can I use the same charger between my Ipad2 and my Iphone 5s

  • New ipod shuffle 4th gen won't charge or turn on or show up in itunes

Received a 4th gen ipod shuffle as a gift, plugged it in straight away synced a song on to it, listened to it. Left the ipod alone for a day, came back to it and it won't turn on, charge, or show up in itunes?
Tried resetting it, did nothing. Tried to get it to be replaced but apparently servicing and replacement isn't available in my area? ( yeah, what?)
    What do i do?

If you connect it to the Mac with iTunes NOT running, and run Disk Utility, does it appear in the sidebar as a "disk"?  Also, you can run System Profiler or System Information (depending Mac OS X version).  It is in Applications/Utilities/, but you can also run it from the About This Mac window.  Does the shuffle appear as a device under USB?
The red light when you move the power switch to ON means very low charge in battery.  That probably means the battery is not getting charged when connected.  In terms of hardware, that could mean a bad USB port on Mac, a bad USB cable, or a bad connection on the shuffle.  In any case, power is not getting to the battery.  It might be a bad battery, but if that was the only problem, I think the shuffle would still appear in iTunes when connected.  That's why asked if it appeared in Disk Utility or System Profiler/Information; if it does, the connection is working (even though iTunes does not see it for some reason).
You can make sure the USB port is working by using something else that is similar (like a USB flash drive) on the same port.  If you happen to have another USB cable, you also try to rule out a bad cable.

  • My iPhone was at 63% then suddenly died, it say its charging but still not turn on, what do I do??

I have tried everything and cannot get it to turn on, it comes up with the red battery icon saying its charging. But still nothing! Help!!

Do not attempt to force it to start after it has shutdown due to low charge.  Fully charge before using it again.  If it will not charge, try a different outlet, a different charger and cable, and if it still does not charge, take it to an Apple store genius bar for testing by the technicians.

  • What is the best way to re-charge?

About improving  battery and phone  life, is it recommended to re-charge the battery before it's running out of power?

If you want to maximize the life of your battery, the most important things to observe are:
    1. Don't charge it to full. For every 10% less, the cycle life doubles. That is, if you always charge it to 100%, you get 400 charge/discharge cycles. If you always charge it to 90%, you get 800 charge/discharge cycles. If you charge it to 80%, you get 1600 charge/discharge cycles.
    2. Don't let it get hot, especially while charging. Heat is bad. That said, while the battery is at a lower charge level, heat causes much less battery aging than if it is at a high charge level.
    3. Avoid discharging it to zero. Try to charge it when it's at 20%.
Bottom line: Don't charge to 100% every day. Ideally, charge from 20% or 30% to 80%. If you do that, the battery will probably last you for more than 10 years.
Of course, you don't need the battery to last for that long. So, just try to avoid charging the battery to 100% every day.
