Low current charge

My MacBook Air 1.1 will not charge at full power.
At the same time the hinges broke on my A1237 MBA the ability to charge went away. The MBA was sent in for repair og the hinges and to checked for the charging issue. Hinges was pepaired under the Apple policy at no charge, thanks. The battery and the MagSafe DC-In Board was replaced with no change as a result.
The next suggestion was to replace the Logic Board, here I said stop and asked for the battery and the DC-In to be put back into the computer and returned to me. To my luck the battery had already been returned to Apple and the DC-In could not be found. So I ended up with having the hinges repaired, the battery and the DC-In changed at zero cost.
So far so good.
But the charging problem is still the same. The computer sees if the charger is attached or not, changing from running on battery to no charge, there is no light on the connector, just a very fake green light, barely visible. In system information I can see that there is small charge of 90 mA.
The computer is running, no discharge if adaptor is connected (90 mA charge), the computer can charge an attached IPhone.
I have tried all the known reset options a number of times.
Is seems to me that charging circuit is playing tricks and have come into a sustain mode from where it will not go into full charge mode. There must be an alternative to having the logic board replaced at $4-600?
Any suggestions?

gpotts,
Thanks again, here's my battery profile: (keep in mind this is the 2nd hand battery I am profiling) BTW, something happened when I was doing this message, I left the notebook on for about 20 minutes, it dropped from +90% to 48%, macbook prompted me that the battery is running low. I plugged the adaptor and it went back to +95% within minutes...
Good thing is, I haven't seen the sudden drop to 0% ever since I removed Vista, and also I am able to charge my battery everytime I try now, no more "NOT CHARGING" or "X" indication.
Any clues??? Thanks in advance.

  • Difference between battery current charge and current max ?

hey guys, when I'm using battery health app to measure the life of my battery for macbook retina - it says 97.9 percent ( 8360 mAh ) for the current charge but it says the max is 8545 mAh and Original max is 8460 mAh .
So why is my current charge below the current max ? Doesn't current max mean it should be able to charge up  to that amount ?

    Hello Kumar,
This requirement is possible only with referring to a time characteristic. If you have a comparing period also from user selection, you could have created two restricted key figures and difference of that will give you the delta value. for eg;- current month and previous month.
I don't think we can retrieve the previous image of key figure without referring to a time characteristic.
In your case I think data change can happen in any day of month. I think you can provide drill down to calday level so that user will get detail day level information. If you create from ORACLE source also, you can give drill to calday level and display detailed data.

Restore to factory settings. That will use the latest iOS and then restore from a backup.
Never, never, never attempt an update/upgrade on any portable computer device without plugging it into its AC charger.

  • My question is which better to use every time my iPad until the battery is 0% then charge it to 100% then use it again until it is 0% or i use it until the percentage is low then charge it until it is 70 - 80 %  then use it but not let it charge to 100%

My question is which better to use every time my iPad until the battery is 0% then charge it to 100% then use it again until it is 0% or i use it until the percentage is low then charge it until it is 70 - 80 % percentage then use it but not let it charge until it is 100% to reduce the number of circles and increase the life of battery as i read that it must at least one time a month use the device until the battery drain to 0% then charge it again to 100% but i don't understand is it must be one, two, three times a month or properly most of the times  to reduce the the number of circles and increase the life of the battery?

    wuzradioman,
I was originally on your side in the discussion of batteries, however, after being contradicted by Meg St._Clair and others I took a leap of faith and took their advice with my Apple devices.  Much to my chagrin their advice has proven true.
Long story short I have not noticed any differences in my battery life by changing my charging habits to what is convienant over what is more in line with conventional battery myths.

  • HT4060 Should iPad be allowed to run very low before charging or is it best to keep it highly charged?

Should iPad be allowed to constantly run low before charging or is it best to keep it highly charged at most times?

    Battery care
    1. Make sure you run the battery down to 5% and then charging it to 100% once a month.
    2. You should start charging your iPad when the battery charge is less than 10%. Over discharging the battery will shorten the lifespan of its battery.
    3. Never store the battery fully discharged. Apply some charge before storage, and then charge fully before use.
    4. When possible avoid frequent full discharges. Instead, charge the battery more often. There is no concern of battery's memory when applying unscheduled charges.
    5. Avoid iPad from overheating > 35°.
    6. Remove casing/sleeve when charging to allow heat to dissipate from back cover
    7. To safe battery power turn off :
    a. background app refreshing
    b. push notifications and/or push mail
    c. lower screen brightness
    d. minimize the use of location services
    e. increase Fetch New Data interval.

  • Measuring low current on myDAQ

The NI ELVISmx digital multimeter used with myDAQ only displays currents in the low milliamp range. Is there any way to measure lower currents (micoamp range)?
    Thanks!

I will guess so. You should study how current measurement is done.

  • Should I let my battery run down low before charge?

Which is more efficient on the battery:
-Holding off charging the battery until it gets low
-Plug in the charger even when the battery isn't too low. I would be plugging it in simply because I would be near the charger.
I'm trying to find out which is more efficient for the battery and what I need to do to get the MOST out of my battery.
    Thanks.

Great tips! Sure will save me from a lot of typing.

  • Hidden Battery power when iPhone is low on Charge?

Can anyone confirm if this is Fact or Fiction?
I recently found an article on the internet as quoted below and was just wondering if anyone could confirm if it is fact or fiction please.
    > Is your mobile phone battery flat ?
    >
    >
    > All mobiles have Hidden Battery Power
    >
    > To activate, press the keys *3370# (remember the asterisk).  Do this when the phone is almost dead.
    > Your mobile will restart in a special way with this new reserve and the instrument will show a 50%
    > increase in battery life.. This reserve will get re-charged when you charge your mobile next time.
    > This secret is in the fine print in most phone manuals.  Most people however skip this information without realising.

"> All mobiles have Hidden Battery Power
    No they don't.
    -> http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/cellphones.asp
"The claim that pressing the sequence *3370# will unleash "hidden battery power" in a cell phone seems to be a misunderstanding of an option available on some brands of cell phone (such as Nokia) for Half Rate Codec, which provides about 30% more talk time on a battery charge at the expense of lower sound quality. However, this option is enabled by pressing the sequence *#4720# — the sequence *3370# actually enables Enhanced Full Rate Codec, which provides better sound quality at the expense of shorter battery life.

  • Is the MIFI6620L supposed to shut itself off if you don't have a device using it and you are not currently charging it?  I am having to push the on button to restart it everytime I want to use my computer or tablet.  I don't want to leave it plugged in al

I have had the MIFI6620L for less than a week.  It keeps shutting itself off, and I couldn't find any mention of this in the user manual.  Perhaps it is a battery saving feature, and not a problem with the unit?  This is happening after the battery is charged and I have the unit disconnected from the outlet.  Thanks.

Yes that is correct.  Jetpacks will power themselves down after a default amount of time to preserve battery life.  This feature should only be happening when there is no activity on the Jetpack.  If you have devices connected it should remain online.
As a Jetpack owner it is a good idea to build a habit of powering on and off your device on a regular basis.  This will help you keep your Jetpacks connection to the towers fresh and less prone to disconnections.  The best way to use a Jetpack is to power up, consume data and then power down until next time.

Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears. If it hasn't appeared after 20 seconds of holding charge it for 15 minutes with the wall charger and try again.

  • Low Voltage Charge "download"??

Is there such a thing as a download available (latest version) or something I can change in my settings to make my Ipod Classic play more than 3 hours? We're using a brand-new Numark dual-Ipod mixer (to DJ at dances) & one of the biggest selling points was that one no longer had to be concerned about keeping the backlight on as the mixer (with both Ipods docked continuously) is connected to an outlet. We were terribly embarrassed at a recent event when both Ipods went dead (battery-wise) in about 3-3-1/2 hrs. (with both fully charged prior to the event, of course). There must be a way to keep this from happening again and I'm desperate to find out how before the next event. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Low battery charge life?

I bought an iPhone4 a couple of weeks ago and though obviously busy on it initially I recently noticed, with more 'normal' use, how quickly the battery runs down. As a test I've had wi-fi/networks off for a couple of days and generally it's 'sleeping' a lot but, for example, it"s lost 35% of its charge in 6 hours since fully charged.
What should the 'average' charge life be? Surely more than that?
Oh, and I see no-one has any ideas about my Youtube question in this topics list...?

It all depends on what you do on your iphone during those 6 hours. But it sounds about right. None of the 4 gen iphones I've owned have been able to keep a charge for an entire day without having to recharge it at work or in my car. I do use it for everything- music, games, surf the net, etc... It's a downside to all smart phones and the iphone is not an exception.
