Low Framerate in Starcraft 2 for Radeon 5750

So I bought a 27" i5 iMac with a Radeon 5750 1TB graphics card, I updated the RAM to 8 gig, and I still only get 20 fps on ultra in S2. The hardware more than meets the specs for ultra yet I am getting low frames per second. I am in the process of setting up a bootcamp disk now, but is this an issue with Mac OS X? And if so, can I expect to see an update in the future to correct it?

What screen resolution are you using? I ask because resolution makes a huge difference in frame rate. Another way to improve frame rate is reducing the anti aliasing and AF rendering.
for instance SC:II on XP with Radeon 5750:
1920 x 1200 = 33 FPS
2560 x 1600 = 23 FPS (iMacs native resolution is very close to this resolution)

  • Low framerates on a good Laptop!

    Hi,
Recently I bought myself a new laptop named the: HP 15-P032ND
    Specs of the Laptop:
Processor: AMD Quad Core A8-6410 2,0 GHz (Up to 3,5)
    RAM: 12 GB / HDD: 1 TB + 8 GB ExpressCache
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon R7 M260(2GB)
    OS: Windows 8.1
Mainly for school purposes and sometimes a little bit of gaming.
So I booted up Minecraft and noticed I had really low framerates! (Around 20-50 FPS)
The first thing that came to my mind is; 'Why do I have such low framerates on a newly bought
    laptop with decent specs?' So I tried out a few things such as;
    - Setting Minecraft to the lowest settings possible! (Still only around 40-50 FPS)
    - Allocating more memory to minecraft
    - Turning off VSync in the AMD Catalyst Control Center
    - Setting Minecraft to as an high priority in the AMD Switchable graphics menu
    - Setting Javaw to as an high priority in the AMD Switchable graphics menu
    - Adding Minecraft to the Games/3DSettings menu
    - Adding Javaw to the Games/3DSettings menu
    - Trying to change the graphics mode in BIOS to; FIXED instead of DYNAMIC
(This one isn't possible since I don't have the ability to change my graphics mode!)
But none of those options worked, I'm still getting the same FPS rates as I did before!
If anyone can help me resolve this issue, then that would be amazing!
    This question was solved.

    Hi Jaco,
I've already seen that article and I get that it's not a High-tier graphics card but
my little brother who owns a laptop as well named: the HP Pavillion dv6-1010ed even
has more FPS then me most of the time. So I guess what i'm saying is that I really don't
understand how a 5 year-old laptop (Which was in the same price range when it was bought)
can have comparible FPS with a laptop which has been released in 2014 with a lot better specs!
Also what i've noticed when I play games like minecraft is that my processor usage sometimes even goes
    up to over 60-70% and when I go into my Catalyst control center it tells me about 2 Gpu's named;
    - AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics (Primary)
    - AMD Radeon (TM) R7 M260 (Linked adapter)
My first thought was that it's using the R5 Graphics so I tried to look up how to switch between those two
but I couldn't find anything that was usable...

  • Low framerate at first run on iOS

    Hi all,
I find a reason for the following (pretty random) behavior:
Occasionally an app I'm working on (avg. framerate on iPad 1: high 30's, 40's depending on what's going on) has a whopping 2 fps after it is installed and run for the first time. I've seen it a few times while testing as has the customer. However, I cannot find a reason nor a way to reproduce at will.
The app uses bitmaps only, some sound and Box2D for bouncing beads against each other (if that helps)
    Has anyone seen this before?
    Thanks in advance,
    Manno

    Hi Sanika,
I'd like to think not much special:
I set the stagequality to low
Instantiate two classes, one of them is nothing more than a screensized bitmap serving as a lid/cover.
The most complicated class sets up a box2D world, and adds some more classes mostly holding bitmaps that the box2d world will move or that server as layers in between which stuff moves.
All assets are bitmaps and embedded by the metatag [Embed]
The box2D world consists of three sensors and approx. 10 boxes. Other items (circles) are added after interaction.
Then a timer starts for the box2d updates.
It happens pretty rare but the low framerate is persistent when it does, not like it comes around after a few secs of initialization. My client thought it could have to do with background activity but IMO that's hard to judge since you never really can tell what goes on behind your own app...
I'll try my best to get some more detail.
    Kind regards,
    Manno

  • Premiere CS4 horrible stutter (ATI Radeon 5750 as problem?)

Hello! I've just come across a very frustrating problem. When I try to edit videos with Premiere CS4, the preview speed is horribly laggy. It doesn't matter what I edit, HD or SD, it is just stuttering so that any work is merely impossible.
The funny thing is, that I have been able to edit even very heavy HD-projects without problems in past with same system. I had 3-4 months pause from video editing, and something has happened in that time. I remember updating ATI drivers in that period so it might be the cause. Or not. Nothing major has changed, I've installed some regular OS updates and thats it. No hardware changes or anything like that.
I have read about compatibility issues with Radeon 5750 and Premiere CS4 in Windows 7 (64bit). So I thought this would be proper area to start looking into. I would like to see if there is something new where to look at before I have to format my whole drive and install everything again. Which is pain because I have no other problems with my system.
I've already tried ATI rollbacks, various driver versions and system restore. Nothing has helped. I also tried same drivers which I knew for sure that were installed and worked last time I succesfully edited something. No use. I've yet not tried installing Premiere again, and I would not happily do it because very buggy licensing system (I have licensed retail version) which can kill the whole CS product family. I rather format the whole OS drive.
Is there any first hand knowledge on this, or any suggestions?

The song is from the same album and should be where it belongs with the rest of that album so she can listen to the entire album with the tracks in the proper order. I am sure that this can be done i just don't know how.

Edit the Name of the problem song to Name [Feat. Guest]
Change the Artist of that song to All Time Low

What you want cannot be done. iTunes has its quirks, and the above is the kind of workaround needed to make the media display sensibly on any device. The article I pointed you to has others that you may find useful in future.

  • Installation of ATI driver for Radeon X1300, X1400, V5200 graphic cards on Windows 8.1

Dear Thinkpad users. After many failures and zero support from official resources, this is a comprehensive, unbiased installation procedure for the official ATI driver with Catalyst Control Center for Radeon X1300, X1400, V5200 graphic cards on Windows 8.1. In my experience, the latest driver for these cards written for Windows Vista 32-/64-bit works flawlessly on Windows 8.1 and you will benefit from multi-monitor support, full HW-acceleration and the PowerPlay option in Catalyst Control Center as well. Install only the official ATI driver, no other modification required. (The installation may work also on non-Thinkpad systems, such as Dell etc. but I have not tested it on that systems)
    Installation procedure:
    1. Before installation, ensure you are logged as an administrator
    2. Go to ‘Control Panel’ -> ‘Power Options’ and click on ‘Choose what the power buttons do’ option from the list on the left side of the window
    3. Go to ‘Shut-down settings’ on the bottom and disable ‘Turn on fast start-up (recommended)’. Unchecking that checkbox is very important because it will prevent the problem with start-up black screen on the computer.
    4. Go to ‘Control Panel’ again and choose ‘Programs and Features’, then click on ‘Turn Windows features on or off’
    5. Select the checkbox ‘.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) to turn it on and wait until the installation is completed
    6. Go to Windows update and install all important updates including those for ‘.NET Framework 3.5 as well
    7. Download ATI video driver from the website of your hardware vendor. For Lenovo Thinkpad T60, T60p users the latest ATI video driver is for Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), please visit http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t60... and download the driver
    8. Once you have the driver downloaded right-click on the file and choose ‘Properties’ from the drop-down menu.
    9. Click on ‘Compatibility’ card then ‘Change settings for all users’ and check in the checkbox at ‘Compatibility mode’ with the option for Windows Vista as well as at ‘Run this program as an administrator’
    10. Double left-click and install the program.
    11. Go to the location ‘C:\drivers\WIN\VIDEO and open the file ‘Bin’ (for Windows 8.1 32-bit users) or ‘Bin64’ (for Windows 8.1 64-bit users)
    12. Right click on ‘Setup’ file; choose ‘Properties’ from the drop-down menu and repeat the step 9
    13. Once you have set the properties, double left-click on that file and install the driver
    14. Follow the installation instructions and finish the installation
    15. Restart the computer

  • Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?

Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?
And is there driver updates for anyone using the all-in-ones HP printers...has anyone been able to use their scanners since the update? and has the dual screen support been added to avoid the blue screen on startup?

The ATI Radeon 9600 PC/Mac edition 256 MB should work in the MDD G4. It has two DVI ports (one is dual-link and can support a 30" display). You will need adapters for ADC displays.

'Music' displays but won't play. Settings appear correct and iPhone (3G)  is selected for output.  Startup screen intermittently displays with the lower pause/play volume bar for no clear reason..... developed at the same time as play failure.  Ideas????

    Thank you for the replies.
Appearane of 'Music' functions (I>>   > II   <<I,   plus volume slider)  on the lock/log in screen (when first turning on the iPhone) thus far seems without pattern, i.e. regardless of which if any applications are up in the background, and indeed even when all have been quit.
All visual aspects of 'Music' appear normal after launch including the title scroll across the top in vertical mode. However, while pressing play (>) converts the play (>) icon to pause (II), selected song does not play and the elapsed time bar (upper end between the track count and the repeat/shuffle icons) remains stationary at 0:00 or at any point to which it is dragged.  When using home sharing this same problem persists regardless of what output is selected.
Hope that may prompt a thought somewhere.

  • IdeaCentre Q180 Low Framerate, Chocking with Flash Video, Hulu, etc.

    Hi,
I just got the latest IdeaCentre Q180 (with 4GB RAM) and I'm disappointed that I have to spend so much time on installing drivers and configuring the system :-(
    The problem:
Playing high-res DivX videos with VLC or Windows Media Player works perfectly.
HOWEVER, playing Flash-based videos such as HULU or Amazon Prime Videos result in noticeable low framerates. It is not a start and stop behavior that you have when you bandwidth is low. Actually the videos are fully buffered.
It is more like a low framerate - such as playing 3D games on a slow machine.
The CPU usage is only around 20-30%.
The Lenovo box is hooked with a HDMI cable to a TV.
    What I tried:
I tried to deactivate and activate hardware accellaration in Flash without any difference.
    Installed latest ATI Catalyst drivers
Installed latest Realtek wireless drivers (otherwise I had no stable Wifi connection)
    Updated Windows 7

Obviously I'm not the only one with the issue:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4258364
I'm wondering what Lenovo has to say?! Anyone else has low fps?

It seems that the HD 6490 (without M) is officially supported by fglrx: http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Hardwa … _Supported
Archlinux has an AUR package containing the official Catalyst driver for AMD cards: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=29111

  • Arctic Cooler Silencer 1 for Radeon 9800

Anyone know where I can find a Arctic Cooler Silencer 1 for Radeon 9800? Or do you know if the Acceleron s2 will fit in a G4 Sawtooth with this v card?
    Thanks

    Hi-
Just don't let the fan get dirty. The 9800 is a hot card, and too much heat is bad. Since you also have a processor upgrade, you are adding lots of heat. The heat also affects the PSU, because it is all removed through the PSU, and hot air doesn't cool well. Hot PSU's, don't produce good power.
Another cooling option (and a good one) is a PCI slot fan that exhausts to the outside of the tower.
This Thermaltake has really good airflow, and will help cool your entire system.

  • HP Envy 15 3040nr Low Framerates while Gaming

    Hi,
I have an HP Envy 15 3040nr notebook with an AMD Radeon 7690M dedicated GPU with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. Although I acknowledge that the use of this GPU on my notebook was not intended primarily for gaming, I've read reviews online stating that this is a good GPU for playing most graphical games at a Medium or Medium-Low setting.
However, while playing games like Need for Speed Most Wanted 2012, Assassin's Creed 3, Crysis 3, and BeamNG.Drive, I get horrible framerates ranging from 15-25 FPS. I think the expected FPS lies somewhere in the 30-35 range for such games, and these aren't even the most recent of 3D games.
Also, I don't believe the problem is CPU related because this model is equipped with an Intel i7-2670QM Quad Core, which overclocks to around 3.0 GHz when I'm running games through Turbo Boost. I have yet to run graphical benchmarks, which I will do.
Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the prompt reply WeiH.
Sadly there doesn't seem to be an HP Service Center in my country (Sri Lanka). So now I'm really confused as to what my retailer's technicians meant by "we'll send it to the local HP Support Center and have your display panel replaced".
Whatever they did, the display panel has been replaced and I've been using it for less than a week so far with no issues. The touchpad hasn't really been heating up and has in fact been as warm as the rest of the notebook. Perhaps it's because I have now turned on the option of disabling the touchpad whenever an external cursor device is attached (since I primarily always use a mouse).
Needless to say, since we both have no clue as to how the touchpad overheated and damaged the screen (in the exact position and measurement as the touchpad) I feel like it's just a matter of time before it happens again.
Obviously I understand that there's little you can do on your side other than direct me to an HP Support Center. However I hope my worries are justified as I feel that as a consumer I shouldn't have to worry about my brand new product malfunctioning by no fault of my own.
