Low GPS Signal with Tom Tom or Navmi

From some days I have problems with my iPhone 3GS and the navigators Tom Tom and Navmi.
It give me "Low GPS Signal".
But with the other apps the system work correctly, such as Facebook Registration or Google Map.
I have disabled and enabled in Setup the menu voice "Location".
Please, help me to use my navigator with iPhone.

I had a similar problem. What I do now is open tomtom app, put in destination. Wait for tomtom navigation screen to come on then exit tomtom (this should leave tomtom running in the background, confirmed by gps signal in status bar). Now open default maps app and wait for a signal lock (blue location circle to to become really small), then double tap home button (don't exit maps) and open tomtom. Your tomtom should now lock onto the signal from maps app. Works everytime for me.
Hope this has helped.

  • Is it possible to detect low frequency signals with a high sampling rate?

    Hello everyone,
I'm having an issue detecting low frequency signals with a high sampling rate.  Shouldn't I be able to detect the frequencies as long as the sampling rate is at least 2 times the highest frequency I will measure?  The frequency range I am measuring is 5-25 Hz, and I use Extract Single Tone.vi to measure the frequency.  The sampling setting I am using is 2 samples at 10 kHz.  Is there a method I can use to make this work?
    Attached is the vi.

You are sampling at 10Ks/S, but only taking two samples. What do you expect to see? If your signals are binary (On or Off) you would only see either an on or an off, or if the rise/fall time was fast and you were Extremely lucky, one of each. If you want to see a waveform you have to sample for at least the period of a waveform. So you should take samples for at least 0.2 seconds to capture an entire waveform at 5Hz, ideally longer.   Think of looking at a tide change at a dock. If you want to see the entire tide change you will probably have to measure repeatedly over 24 hours, not just run out on the dock, measure the height twice and leave. That wouldn't tell you anything other than at that precise moment the tide height was X, but not that it was at high tide, low tide, in between, etc.
I type too slowly, I see that a more technical answer has been given, so mine will be the philosophical one!

  • Why doesn't "My Tom Tom" (GPS site) work with Firefox? I can only seem to get updates via IE.

When I initially activated my Tom Tom GPS (Jan 2012) I did not have a problem using Firefox. About 4-6 weeks ago I attempted to update the device and "My Tom Tom" would not run with Firefox. After literally hours of trying to get it to work, I tried Internet Explorer and the updates ran without a hitch. Today I had the same problem and after a few unsuccessful attempts to use Firefox, switched to IE and had no problems. I am not sure, but I think I updated my Tom Tom device at least once via Firefox and believe the problem developed sometime after April 2012

It is most likely because you are running a very out of date version of Firefox. I have a TomTom, and it works fine with Firefox 15.0.1. Try to update to that then try again.

  • Will iphone with no service work with tom tom?

My brother is wondering if he can buy a gps app like tom tom or navigon and use it on his iphone that no longer has service (he cancelled at&t due to the poor service where he lives)
I understand that these programs use the gps signal but don't use the cellular network. Would this work?
    Thanks!

If he has a 3G or 3GS, yes. Cellular reception/internet access is not required to use a turn by turn GPS navigation app such as TomTom or Navigon since the maps data with the apps is stored locally on the iPhone, and the GPS receiver can work independently.
In order to install a firmware update or restore the iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed, the no longer activated SIM card needs to be inserted in the iPhone when doing so - the SIM card that was used with the iPhone when the iPhone was activated.

  • Nokia N90 and Tom Tom GPS

I am attempting to use a Tom Tom GPS bluetooth aerial and Tom Tom software on my N90. However, although I appear to be able to pair with the aerial my phone continues to say "No GPS Device". Any tips on how to make this work - the GPS aerial appears to be getting a signal. Can anyone suggest what i am doing wrong or not doing?

is it the device that came with the tomtom software?
if so, could you give the model number/make etc?

  • How can I get i phone 4s to work with a tom tom car kit

I upgraded to an i phone 4s from an I phone 3gs.  My tom tom app worked perfectly with the tom tom car kit on my old phone but now I have managed to get it to charge when plugged into the car kit but there is only poor gps reception showing, any Ideas on how to get my beloved sat nav back

hi, I've got the same problem, cant get it to even charge so behind you on that. have looked on the tomtom site and see that they only stipulate that it will work with 3, 3s and 4 ..... miss out 4s! presumably there is an upgrade on the way!

  • Does the iphone 4 fit in the Tom Tom GPS enhancer for the car?

On the Apple website, when comparing the 3gs to the iphone 4, the iphone 4 appears to be slightly larger to the 3gs. Is the iphone 4 compatable with the Tom Tom Gps Car enhancer?

Yep apparently contrary to popular belief you can be too thin. In this case the iPhone 4 is a bit too thin to activate the button that tells the cradle that a phone has been inserted. I added a folded piece paper held in place with a bit of black electrical tape to the button and it works fine now. Once I get a case for the phone I might not even need that.

  • Tom Tom GPS Bluetooth

Why does my Tom Tom Bluetooth GPS not connect to my IPAD

Your response is very confusing, as my ipad is wifi only and cannot make calls and does not have a built in GPS receiver. This is why I am trying to connect a Bluetooth GPS receiver to enable the use of apps with maps for navigation etc. that are available on the ipad.
In theory any Bluetooth device should connect as Bluetooth is a standard interface. It does, however, rely on the operating system and app software being able to communicate with the device.
I have found more information since posting this question. It appears that only certain GPS receivers are compatible, but I am not sure why, probably because the ipad software does not support the device. Guess I have probably answered my own question here.

  • E61 & LD_3W with Tom Tom

I bought an E61 and LD_3W from 3 network as a package, with Tom Tom 6. I Have been through all of the books and instructions several times, loaded everything as instructed but cannot get it to work.the two devices are paired in bluetooth connections, the Gps module reacts when I go to navigation in the tools menu but when I try it with Tom Tom it just says no GPS available.
Has anyone been able to get this to work, or found any other solutions? or have I just bought a pile of useless bits?
I have tried contacting 3 network, Nokia and Tom Tom, but they all give me the run around and blame each other.
    any ideas?

Tom Tom likes to create it's own connection to the GPS Rx.
To do this from the TT start screen press 5 then 6, 6, 6 followed by 1 (or if you prefer go to Change preferences, next, next, next, show GPS status) then press the left softkey "configure" use the joystick to displat "other bluetooth GPS receiver" and press select. It will then do a Bluetooth scan, highlight the LD_3W and select it the pass code is 0000 on mine I guess this is standard and that should be that.

  • N95 connectivity with Tom Tom Go 730

My new N95 is not compatible with the recent  GO Tom Tom 730 bluetooth.  I am unable to use the phone using the hands free, it does work initially then the Tom Tom freezes and you have to reset it. Does anyone know how to get round this problem

Hi, I bought my father a TOM TOM GO 720 for father days and we want to use the N95 for hands free with BT in the car. I can pair it and pass the contacts to it, but nothing works...keeps going around in circles asking for "xxxx" and says the function is not available on the TOM TOM...I have tried everything except updating HW SW...As the last time I updated the FW we lost all the contacts and setting.....

  • Iphone 3gs compatiblity with Tom tom sat nav

just got anew I phone 3GS - after checking it had bluetooth etc ; I assumed it would interface using bluetooth, with my Tom Tom not only for hands free calling but also to download up to date traffic information - as did my old Samsung SGH G600. The telephone calling is fine but apparently Tom Tom now tell me the sat nav units are not compatible with iphone for getting the traffic information downloaded via the internet.
I never dreamt (perhaps naively) that a major phone supplier like Apple would not automatically be compatible with Tom Tom.
Anyone come accross this problem and got a solution - other than buying a new sat nav or an additional sim card for my old phone plus a subscription or pay as you go cost of course!!

Thanks for info. I know there is/are an app(s) for this but not fully investigated it yet as I want to be certain I cannot just 'fix' my current problem and continue to use Tom tom with iphone as i did previously with Tom Tom/Samsung.
If I do look have to look for alternatives Tom Tom do a new satnav with 'hd traffic live updates ' which I understand does not need a phone connection at all - sounds interesting

  • I logged on to the Tom Tom site last Sunday to download maps for a GPS. Since then the TomTom site appears each time I start Firefox. I am unable to locate the instruction making this happen. Can you please assist?

Can you help me to find what is prompting Tom Tom to be my home page although I have another specified in my "Preferences"

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
    Thank you.
