Low ink message

I have an Officejet Pro L7780, it has been working fine for a couple of years, now I have a message of a LOW INK that won't go away even when I install a NEW CARTRIDGE.
Any suggestions?

I have the same problem with a  C310a.........

I have a Mac Pro which has been partitioned.  I have installed 3 different OS's on 3 of the partitions- Lion, Snow Leopard, & Leopard.  I use Snow Leopard almost excusively I have a Lexmark S415 All-In-One which I have only used as a printer, and it is connected only via a wireless network.  In response to a low ink message on my Mac, I have loaded all new black and color  cartridges.  I still have the low ink message, and the Mac still says the cartridges are low on ink and that the printer is offline.  I found that the printer was, in fact, offline, so I re-installed it onto the wireless network.  But the low ink message is still present, even though the printer says that the cartridges are filled to the top and the Mac still says that the printer is offline.
On a whim, I booted up with OS Lion and saw the same behaviour. Then I tried booting up with OS Leopard and found that the Mac was reporting that the cartridges were full, that the printer was online, and that I could print.  I've contacted Lexmark Tech Support, who advised me to re-install the printer onto the wireless network, which I've done.   Using Snow Leopard, I have downloaded and installed a Lexmark driver which is appropriate for Snow Leopard.  Can see no difference.
I'm hopeful that someone has seen similar behaviour and can point me to a solution.

Save and/or quit your applications & documents
    Go to Applications>Utilities Folder
    Click Disk Utility
Click the Volumne (HD) that you want to check.
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button. (Don't worry about verifying)
At the bottom of window when the repairs have finished, you will see the “most important thing”:
    Permission Repairs Complete
The privileges have been repaired or completed on the selected volumne.
Restart your computer to confirm repairs.
Same directions are also in the OS Mac Help Menu.
If that does not work -
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.

  • Low ink message for Deskjet D1341 connected to HP Pavillion always on

Printing continues fine and I replace the cartridge when the ink actually fades.  Is there a way to permanently disable this low ink message and is it safe to do so?

Hi - I'm not aware of any time limit with HP cartridges, other than an expiration date, due to the ink and the possibility of it drying up.  However, I wouldn't expect that to cause a low ink warning.  Try the steps in this document.  If that doesn't resolve it, you'll probably need to replace the cartridge.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to turn off low ink messages for HP 2140 Fax

"Ink Low." This message is always being displayed by my fax 24/7 and I was wondering if someone could help me remove it/ stop showing. Thanks.

Is the cartridge an HP original or a third party reman or refill?  The latter generally do not properly show ink levels.  I would suggest replacing the depleted cartridge with a fresh original HP cartridge.

  • How can i get past the low ink screen?

And YES THEY WERE HP CARTRIDGES!!! if anyone knows how to get past this issue PLEASE let me know!!! I am trying to print out my resume and it wont let me past this screen. the issue of it being under warranty does not matter because that is long past and yes i will take the chance of it being ruined because if i dont get past this the printer is going out the window and yes then it be solved.PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're getting a 'Low Ink' message on the front panel of your HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer and would like to bypass this message. The ink system in your specific model of printer requires ink to be in the cartridges for the printer to function. Ink is required for printing, but also for regular maintenance on your printer. The Semi-Permanent Printheads within your product control ink for going on the page. If your printer is not able to perform regular maintenance because it has empty ink cartridges installed, damage may be caused to the Printheads. Should the Printheads become clogged or defective they will also need to be replaced. For additional ink usage information please click here.  When printing from your computer, colour ink may be used to print black, depending on the program that you're printing from. If you prefer to print in only black ink and save your colour cartridges you can set your print driver to 'Black Ink Only'. However, your printer cannot be in an error state for these changes to take affect. Therefore, if you would like to adjust your print driver setting to use only Black ink when printing black only documents, you will need to replace your depleted cartridges first.  I am happy to provide additional assistance with adjusting your print driver setting once you have replaced the depleted cartridges. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • D6060 low ink light and no print.

The low ink warning light blinks, printer does not print, but all cartridges are between 50 and 100% full.  No paper jams apparent.
Have followed directions to reset printer (remove cartridges, turn off, wait 10 mins, turn on). Same result with blinking orange light.

    Hello @ISCAGIRL ,
    Welcome to the HP forum.
I understand that your printer is giving a false low ink message.
    I would like to help.
First while powered on, remove the power cord & refix after 30 seconds (Hard Reset).
If that does not clear the printers brain, try the following document.
'Cartridge Failed' or 'Cartridge Not Compatible' Error Message

I'm ready to strangle the HP guy who programmed in this incredibly annoying "low on ink" message that continues to flood my computer screen every 90 seconds or so. How do I turn this devil off?

  • How can I disable the low ink warning messages.

How can I disable the low ink warning messages.  The Photosmart Plus B210 printer is connected wirelessly to my Mac over a home network..

Open up a terminal (use spotlight to search for 'terminal')
Find the process ID of the HP Device monitor by doing
ps -eo pid, command | grep "HP Device Monitor"
The process id will be the number that is printed. Sometimes you may see two results, the correct result to use should print "/Library/Printers/hp/hpio/HP Device Monitor.app/Contents/MacOS/HP Device Monitor"
Then using the number you got from the first step, run the following command.
sudo kill -9 <pid>; sudo rm -rf "/Library/Printers/hp/hpio/HP Device Monitor.app/Contents/MacOS/HP Device Monitor"
You will be prompted for your admin password.
Below is an example of when I ran it:
John-MacBook-Pro:~ john$ ps -eo pid, command | grep "HP Device Monitor"
    90509   /Library/Printers/hp/hpio/HP Device Monitor.app/Contents/MacOS/HP Device Monitor
    90513 grep "HP Device Monitor"
    John-MacBook-Pro:~ john$ sudo kill -9 90509; sudo rm -rf "/Library/Printers/hp/hpio/HP Device Monitor.app/Contents/MacOS/HP Device Monitor"

  • No Low Ink Notification / How to check ink levels

I don't know how it disappeared, but I no longer have an HP icon, and never get low ink notifications.  I have nothing "HP" in program files, so can't figure out how to check the ink levels.  Every time I lose color I have to change both cartridges.  Printer prints fine.  Any suggestions?  Hopefully I don't have to disconnect everything and start installation over - there's always a chance it won't work when I'm done.  Technologically inclined Im not.  Thanks for any assistance you can give.  Printer is PSC1510 All-In-One.

If you press the Cancel and the Start Copy Color button on this printer at the same time and release them, it'll print a Self Test Report that'll have an ink level gauge on it. you can check it there.

  • CM6040 MFP - LOW TONER MESSAGE FROM PRINTER TO COMPUTER WITHOUT ERROR CODE OR COLOR

The printer is sending "low toner/ink" message to whomever prints.  The printer shows no error code on the display and prints fine.  The message the printer sends to the computer does not indicate what color is low.  We all operate on Windows 7 which we just upgraded to a few weeks ago.  Like I said, the printer continues to print fine and does not display an error code on the display but continues to send this annoying message everytime one prints.  Any ideas on what is causing this message?

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/

  • Low Ink Pop-Ups

    Hi,
Running OS X 10.9.4, but this issue has showed up with previous versions as well.  Whenever my 6500A gets low on ink, I get about 5000 "Low Ink" pop-ups on my desktop.  The "Okay" button does not auto highlight, so I have to click through every single one of them to clear them.  I've tried opening HP Utility Message Center, but it either locks up or I can't find anything useful.  Anyone know how to turn off these notifications?  I'm EXTREMELY annoyed by them.  Just in the space of typing this description, I've had about 20 new notifications.
    Please Help.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Hi Shummer,
Very welcome, glad that it worked for you! I believe that there most likely was a conflict with the software, and by uninstalling and re-installing, it makes sure you have the proper software, which should remove all the pop-ups.
Hope this answers your question, and let me know if you have any more issues!

  • Officejet 6600 low ink

I use black and white printing 95% of the time (black ink).  I just got finished replacing ALL the cartridges a few weeks ago and now I'm getting messages to check all the cartridges for low ink.  This printer will not print even black only if the color cartridges are low on ink.  Any body got this problem, and suggest a workaround?  Thanks.

Hi bluechair and welcome to the HP forums!
It looks like you're having some issues with the ink in your Officejet 6600. I'm sorry to hear that, but I will definitely have a look into things with you
This first thing I would suggest is that you make sure the printer is plugged directly to a wall outlet. That will ensure the printer is getting all of the power it needs to function properly.
If that makes no difference I'd then suggest you make sure your printer is Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates.
If that still doesn't appear to change anything, can I ask what type of cartridges you're using? Are they genuine HP, or have they been refilled? Are they generic brand or anything like that?
Hope to hear back from you soon!

  • HP309g keeps shutting down saying low ink

My HP309g keeps coming up with low ink on startup and turns itself off. It will not turn on again until I have disconnected the power supply and reinsterted the power lead. Then I get the same message and it shuts down again.
I have replaced all 5 cartridges with new ones and I have cleaned the print head.
I notice that the print head always stops on the left hand side of the printer as it shuts down. Is this correct?
Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so what was the solution?

    Hi McDig,
I understand you've been having a few issues with your Photosmart C309g printer. I'm sorry to hear you've been having issues, but I will do my best to assist you with this.
I see that you did try the ink system failure steps provided and they haven't made much difference so I will provide a few other things to try.
If it's not already, I would suggest plugging the printer directly to a wall outlet to ensure that it isn't a power related reason that the printer isn't wanting to function correctly. If this does not resolve the issue, you can also try removing all of the cartridges from the printer. Once they are all removed, pull the power cord from the printer for 1 full minute. After that has passed plug the unit back in and wait for it to start up and provide an error stating that 1 or more of the cartridges appear to be missing or damaged. Then proceed to insert the cartridges 1 at a time from left to the right. After you insert each one, close the lid of the printer to make sure it recognizes the cartridge you just entered and move to the next one. Doing this should either trick the printer into completing it's setup or let you know if one of the cartridges or it's contacts are causing a malfunction.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!
