Low Level Audio

Hi--
I have the following settings to process my .aiff mix through Compressor:
Name: ReadyForImport
Description: AAC audio
File Extension: ac3
Audio Encoder
Format: AC3
Sample Rate: 48.000kHz
Channels: 2
Bits Per Sample: 16
Target System: DVD Audio
Data Rate: 448 kbps
Compression Preset: None
Audio Coding Mode: 2/0 (L, R)
BitStream Mode: Complete Main
Center Mix Level: -3dB
Surround Mix Level: -3dB
Dolby Surround Mode: None
LFE Exists: No
Dialog Normalization: -27 dbFS
Copyright Exists: Yes
Original Content: Yes
Audio Production Information Exists: No
RF Overmodulation Protection: Off
Channel Bandwidth Lowpass Filter: Off
DC Highpass Filter: Off
LFE Channel Lowpass Filter: On
3dB Attenuation: Off
phase 90: On
Deemphasis: Off
My original audio was mixed in DP 4.6, and sounds great in my studio, which is tested flat, in fact, a bit too much signal if anything. My original sample rate is 48k, 2-channel stereo, 16-bit. You'll notice I have unchecked all pre-processing options and used no compression.
However, when I run this through Compressor, import it into DVDSP and run the finished DVD, the audio is about half what I would expect, and about half the volume of several test commercial DVD's (Your basic purchased movies). So something is wrong.
Can someone perhaps enlighten me how to fix this?
Thanks
All My Best,
Jeffrey

hello jeffrey
looking at your specs let me recommend these:
Name: ReadyForImport
Description: AAC audio
File Extension: ac3
Audio Encoder
Format: AC3
Sample Rate: 48.000kHz
Channels: 2
Bits Per Sample: 16
Target System: DVD Audio
Data Rate: 192 kbps (DO NOT USE 448 unless it is surround sound!)
Compression Preset: None
Audio Coding Mode: 2/0 (L, R)
BitStream Mode: Complete Main
Center Mix Level: -3dB (this one should be greyed out once you fix 192 Kbps
Surround Mix Level: -3dB (this one should be greyed out to)
Dolby Surround Mode: None
LFE Exists: No
Dialog Normalization: -31 dbFS (this should always be here)
Copyright Exists: Yes
Original Content: Yes
Audio Production Information Exists: No
RF Overmodulation Protection: ON (should always be on)
Channel Bandwidth Lowpass Filter: ON
DC Highpass Filter: ON
LFE Channel Lowpass Filter: OFF (since you do not have a LFE track)
3dB Attenuation: Off
phase 90: OFF
Deemphasis: Off
hope this helps, contact me offline if you wish to know WHY to put these settings into play!

  • I keep getting "low-level exception occurred in: waveform audio (exporter)"

when I try to edit a clip from preimere pro cs6 with the context menu "edit clip in audition" it gives me the low-level exception occurred in: waveform audio (exporter) error in the log and does nothing.
what is happening and how do I fix it?

Often, when two programs in a suite are being used with one another, which forum to post to, can be a bit of a gray area. Those, who suggested the Au Forum, probably fixated on that part of the workflow.
Had you posted here, there might well have been a few, who would have suggested the Au Forum.
As the Au folk have not encountered this error, the PrPro Forum is probably the best place to be right now.
Unfortunately, I have neither encountered that error, nor have I read of it, so I am of no use, other than to say that someone here will probably be able to get you some help.
Now, I do agree that at the point in your workflow, where you are encountering the error, it probably IS a PrPro error.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Error Msg -A Low-level exception occurred in: Adobe Player

I have CS6 installed, all the latest patches, etc. It's been working fine for months. In the last week Pr is unable to playback all of my footage (Native 5D mark III h.246 and Canon xf305 footage). Whether it is on the timeline or in the source panel.
The Error message i get it this:  A Low-level exception occurred in: Adobe Player (player).
    Using Adobe CS 6.0.3
Windows 64 Bit 8 GBs RAM
Happens in new projects and old.
New timelines also affected, it appears.
Was not happening as recently as two days ago.
No changes made to the computer.
Only changes is that I have combined timeines (Imported) from one project to another.
    Video shows yellow or Green.
I have rerendered the footage to show all green on timeline.
Only way around it is to reboot the computer, it comes back after a while. The problematic timelines work fine for a while, then this starts happening.
I deleted the media cache database folder after exiting Pr.
Didn't seem to change anything. I just got the error again. Things seem to be curiously messed up. I tried to render a sequence out to MXF. The headless crashed each time, (not totally unusual, but it couldn't complete even once). I also got an error message when I bypassed the Media Encoder and just went strait to rendering it out within Pro. It managed to continue to render it to MXF but when I got done and imported it into Pro, it didn't play the clip when I clicked on it.
The interesting thing to me is that to totally clear Adobe from RAM, I have to go into Task Manager and kill the process after exiting the program (in lieu of rebooting). So it's not closing properly, it appears. Once I kill the process and reopen the app, I can then play the sequence, for a while. It's very curious. Task manager also shows lots of RAM open, no memory leaks at work, nothing unusual. It appears, to be just choking on footage, sort of like it can't quite process the audio (like when you bring in new footage and it has to process that audio). What's happening is like it sees the audio at first when I bring it in at startup of the app, then loses it. If I exit without killing the Premiere process (or shutting down the machine), then it still exhibets the behavior on startup again.
So this project is large, for me. It is showing as 34 MBs. I have a wide variety of clips at play here, but only MXF Canon from the xf305 and MOV from the Canon 5D. The MXF are the default sequence(s) unless I shot nothing but MOV.
I have tried rendering the visualization, all green lines on top but that doesn't seem to fully help. It does play the footage for a while.
There are no special effects added, yet.
Is it worth re-installing Premiere? This has cost me the better part of a day screwing around with this.
    Let me detail this again:
Premiere is installed on C There hundreds of GBs of storage avaialble there.
All project files are on F which is a RAID 1 array. It appears to be functioning normally. 800 GBs free space on 2TBs.
All Renders are taking out to an external drive like I always do. Lot s of space available there too.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Is this any better? Cut and pasted plain text.

  • Premiere Pro CC - low level exception occurred in: adobe player

I got a "a low level exception occurred in: adobe player" message. Then, i can't play the timeline.
    My Config:
    W7 64 bits - 4 Go Ram
    Premiere Pro CC (last version)
(W7 in french, PP in french too).
I get this bug when I click in a clip in the time line and then, after, I click in a previous clip in the same timeline. After, two or three clics, il get this message. In my Clip, there are some audio effects.
I have tell that this is the first time i get this error. Before i worked like this, but i did'nt get this kind of error with the same project and the same Premiere Pro.
So, i looked the windows' application events log, where I can see that this is Denoiser2.dll... and an other time it was an other sound effect dll.
What's wrong ? 10 days ago with the same project i did'nt get theses errors ?
Therefore, I clicked every where, and change a lot of things... but i did'nt get back. (I hope that i haven't introduce any new errors ?!)
I uninstall all CC products and Premiere. Then, i used the Adobe Cleaner Tool.
Then, I clear a lot of things with CCleaner.
    And then, i re-install all...
But it doesn't still work !! Arghhh !
    Have you any clue ?
    Thanks !
    Valéry

    Thanks for you quick answer.
I forgot to delete the cache files in my previous tries. So i tried this... And I changes some options in media preference menu. Then I render audio and video of my footage.
.... and It seems that it's solved ! Well, i hope so.
If there is still any trouble i'll come back to write something about here to help other users who encontred the same troubles.
    Thanks!

  • Problem: A low level exception occured in: Adobe Player (Player)

I use Premiere Pro CC 7.21 on a 2,4 GHz i5 Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM and OS 10.8.5. My video data (5D Mark II) is on an external hd via firewire800. For a few days now I haven´t bin able to  playback the timeline. And I get this error: "A low level exception occured in: Adobe Player (Player)". And when I quit premiere it still works (chrashes) in the background. I did pretty much everything. Well, everything I read about: I uninstalled Premiere and reinstalled it. Made a "root" profile and tried working with it. Changed Audio Hardware settings. Deleted some files in the library I read about. And set back my whole system with time machine. Back to a date when it still worked. Nothing has worked so far. Can anyone help?

    Florian,
Sorry about that. See if this post will help you solve this issue: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5158878#5158878

  • Low iSight audio in iMovie

When I record from my iSight in iMovie HD, I get good video but very low audio levels. It's fine in iChat, very clear for others on the receiving end. This only occurs in iMovie. I'm running Tiger and the latest version of iMovie. Anyone have this problem or know of a solution? Thanks!

    You're welcome, Peter,
Because it works correctly in iChat AV, the only other thought I have is whether you are sitting in the same position relative to iSight when you are making your iMovie clips as when you use iSight with iChat AV. If you sit farther away or off center of the iSight axis, the mic may just be receiving, and thus recording, lower levels.
If this does not help you, you might try reviewing the FAQs, searching for "low volume" (without the quotation marks) or posting your question in iMovie HD Discussions. Perhaps the iMovie HD users can offer you better suggestions?

  • Low-latency audio on Windows Phone 8 (hint: forget it for now...)

My business specializes in audio and music apps for the Windows ecosystem. For this new project that I’m considering (a virtual instrument of sorts), I need to achieve the lowest possible audio latency from capture to render.
A measured latency below 3 ms would be ideal, 20 ms would be ok, and anything above 30 ms would be a deal breaker. And just to be precise about my definition of latency, I’m strictly talking about “mic-to-speaker” latency (includes the processing in-between).
I’m not talking about “glass-to-speaker” latency, although this topic is also of interest to me.
I figured that I should be using WASAPI, as this is apparently the API that sits at the bottommost of the audio stack in WinRT / WinPRT. So I spent a couple of days re-familiarizing with C++ (happy to meet an old friend)
and I coded a prototype capturing, processing and rendering audio using WASAPI having in mind the goal of achieving the lowest possible latency. After trying and comparing various methods, workflows, threading mechanisms, buffer values and mix formats, the
best I could achieve using WASAPI on Windows Phone was ~140 ms of latency. This is using 3 ms buffers. And although the audio is glitch-free, I could have been using 30 ms buffers and it wouldn’t have made the slightest difference! The latency would still
be around 140 ms. As I found out, the API/driver is extremely defensive in protecting against audio starvation, so it adds quite a bit of buffering at both ends. This is very unfortunate, because it basically disqualifies real-time audio/musical
    applications.
I’d love to be able to provide quality audio/musical apps for the platform (both Windows Phone and Windows 8), but right now, this latency issue is kind of a deal breaker.
I've been pointing out the importance of low latency audio to Microsoft for quite a while, and I know I'm not the only one, and I know a lot of people at Microsoft realize this is important. But in its execution,
it seems Microsoft constantly fails to deliver a truly low-latency audio stack. In the pre-XP days, I've had talks with the sysaudio devs about this, and I was told, "yeah, we're working on a new architecture that will come out after XP and
it will solve the latency problem for all audio and musical applications." Fast forward to mid-2010 (pre-Windows Phone 7), and I was still there pointing out the horrible latency figures one would get from the APIs that were about to ship. And
now that WASAPI is available on WP8 (our best hope yet for low-latency audio), I discover the overly defensive and buffer-happy architecture of WASAPI (even though one of its promises was precisely low-latency audio).
    So, the question is…
Is Microsoft aware of this issue? If so, is Microsoft giving up and simply conceding the pro-audio territory to iOS? If not, I’d be glad to discuss this issue with an engineer at Microsoft. I’m serious about bringing audio apps
to the platform. I just need some assurance that Microsoft is taking action on its end, so that I can sync my development with the next product cycle.
Thanks in advance for any help, advice, or insights!
    /Antoine

Any update on this issue? Is there a roadmap for a fix?
I ported a realtime sound analyzing application (requiring both audio input and output) to WinRT and was quite surprised at the high latency from WASAPI. I then searched around and posted some questions regarding this on various MS forums and got to the
following conclusions based on feedback from people including MVPs and MS employees:
A lot of those people are under the impression that WASAPI qualifies as a low-latency API.
Apparently WinRT apps are not supposed to have high CPU usage, and this is purposefully baked into the framework (minimal thread priority control, async/await everywhere which results in thread priority inversion, and other issues).
Why would anyone ever need high-priority threads? They must use a lot of CPU, right?
A lot of people think low-latency audio means high CPU usage. You can see where this is going when you look at the previous point.
Async/Await is being forced down to all levels, even though it should only be used at the UI level. What some people are actually now calling "old-school" multithreading is now being pushed out (lock, etc). Async/Await has horrible overhead and
results in thread priority inversion amongst other issues. For example, witness that there is no StorageFile.Read, just StorageFile.ReadAsync. Do some IO benchmarks with some of these async methods and you will see some horrible performance compared to desktop
    file IO.
To get an understanding of what low latency audio means and why it is important, see this video. It compares the latency of Android to iOS using the exact same music app. Ever wondered
why there are no quality music apps for Android? Well now you know. And then realize that WinRT has
twice as much latency as Android.
And if anyone thinks this is a niche use case, consider that Apple created adds showcasing "musicians" playing their iPad "instruments". A use case that is essentially unavailable for WinRT apps. Why would Apple create
adds for a niche use case?
This should have been one of the high priority issues solved from the start in WinRT. MS solved this issue in Windows (desktop) long ago, with the ability to get insanely low latency there (0.3 ms in some stress tests,
see here), even beating out OSX. It is as if there is a new generation of architects at MS that know nothing about this previous work and are doomed to make the same mistakes over again. I really don't
understand why these pre-existing APIs can't be exposed in WinRT. No need to re-invent the wheel. But I guess it just isn't important enough.
I find this situation really sad since otherwise it could be a great and powerful platform.

  • Unable to create a folder in lower levels of root folder

It appears to me I cannot create a new folder in the lower levels of root folder. Currently, I have to create a new folder right below root folder and then drag it to lower level folder. Why I can't do it in one go. Thanks!

Hi Ray. That is normal behavior for Snow Leopard now. The OS wants to reserve the root level for itself. Also, folders you create at the root level may not accurately reflect the correct permissions.
You want to try to keep all your files/folders in your Home (User) folder. That way all your documents remain portable when you move to another Mac or migrate your data back after an Erase & Install. If your docs are scattered all over the drive there is a chance some stuff will not get transferred during a move. So try to keep everything inside your Home folder.
If you have to place a new folder at the root level, try creating the folder on your Desktop, then dragging it to the root level.

  • Issue in determining Low level codes

    Hi Gurus,
We are having an issue running heuristics when running  along with Temporary low level codes. We are in SCM 7.0 environment.
The SNP Heuristics jobs are failing with this message "Low-level code
not available for product XXXXXXX at location XXXX
Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE"
Also, the message in the job log  for the product in was flagged for deletion and I am not too sure why is this being picked up for processing and then failing?
I tried using SDP relevance as '1' for the product flagged for deletion for testing purposes and then the program is not considering this SKU, but stopping at another SKU and also that SKU is flagged for deletion. But the flip side of using SDP relevance is that that setting is at global level andmay have issues where the SKU is active.
    I have couple questions:
    1) Is there a way for the program to skip the code which has an error and move forward instead of failing the job? and provide a spool with error codes. Also, to provide the LLC number for all the correct SKU's instead of failing at that point and not generating the LLC's?
    2) Why is the program also considering the codes which are flagged for deletion which should not be the case?
Also, I tried another way of maintaining the codes in thevariant which are not flagged for deletion and tried running heuristics in the background but failed at a point and it gave a message stating Low-level code not available for product XXXXXXX at location XXXX,     Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE
But the product which was displayed in the job log is an active SKU. I am not too sure why the job failed with this error?
I tried running that individual SKU in the background including the temporary determination of LLC, it was successful. I am not too sure why it failed when it was a part of selection?
Any suggestions, would really help us a lot.
    Thanks and regards,
    Murali

Hi Datta - Thanks for the replies. I was able to have a workaround by using selection profiles excluding the Procurement type 'P' and it worked.
At our client, whenever a product is made 'non-X0'  in ECC, procurement type is set to 'P' and by excluding that piece in the variant I was able to continue with my processing.
But still, don't you think the products which are flagged for deletion shouldn't be picked up heuristics?
    Thanks and regards,
    Murali

  • Collective Planned orders Scheduling for lower level orders with reference to the Superior order

    Hi All,
    Collective planned order scheduling.
I have been trying to reschedule the superior planned order and i was expecting the lower level planned orders to reschedule based on the superior planned order.
    My problem is
when i try to reschedule the superior planned order the system is not rescheduling the lower level planned orders.
For example if i change the basic finish date of superior planned order as 30/09/2014 and reschedule the planned order it is only scheduling the header planned order and the lower level planned order is not scheduling.
Could some one tell me why this is not happenning at planned order level.
As the rescheduling of collective order will work at production order level but for some reason it is not happening at planned order level(as there is no option available to do so).
Please give your thoughts on this asap.
    Mahee.

    Hello Mahee
Please observe that your system is working as designed. Planned orders are scheduled independently, even when they are part of a network/collective order. Note 152319 explains the planned order scheduling in detail and it provides the following information:
    * No scheduling of overall networks is executed although a directly manufactured component is assigned.
Note that no scheduling of the overall network is executed for planned orders. For the components requirements dates are determined. In order to cover them, planned orders are created in the next MRP run. Since the requirements are not managed using the exact time, the results of the planned order scheduling and of a scheduling of the overall network of the converted collective order can differ.
