  • Hi Fi Volume wil nt increase past a low level???

Using my Hi Fi with 20G ipod and the volume on the Hi Fi would not increase beyond a low level compared to other times I have used the Hi Fi. The volume would lower and when trying to increase the light on the Hi Fi would turn from green to orange and not increase past a certain level??? Please advise.

Do you have batteries in the Hi-Fi? If so, check that the power cord is properly (firmly) in place. If so, then make sure that power outlet hasn't been turned off at the wall-switch. What you're describing sounds like what the Hi-Fi is designed to do when running on batteries. ..As the batteries wear out, the maximum volume is reduced.
If you do not have batteries in the Hi-Fi, then I'm at a loss to explain your problem.

  • How to low level format an external hard drive on Yosemite

I need to perform a low level format on an external hard drive as the WD external hard drive does't provide instructions for doing it on my Mac with Yosemite.

    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • Drum loops are too low in volume vs guitars when overdubbing

After 8 hrs of learning Logic Express 9. I can't record the guitars "hot" because the Apple drum loops are too low in volume. I max them out with extra gain. I even duplicate them so I have two tracks. How can I get the drum loop volume up. I've tried everything I can think of to push it as loud as it will get. I've tried normalizing. I am assuming the quality of the guitar recording is related to how "hot" it's recorded or at least you shouldn't have to turn it down to about 20% when I overdub. I've got an M-Audio solo. Thanks.

    Hi
Have you tried monitoring the guitars at a lower lever? You can still record them hot, but listen at a lower level.
    From my LE8 manual...
    Setting the Monitoring Level
If the Independent Monitoring Level (for Record Enabled Channel Strips) preference in
the Logic Express > Preferences > Audio > Devices > Core Audio tab is enabled, an
independent monitoring level is available when an audio channel is record enabled.
After arming the track, set the fader to the desired level. The original playback level will
be restored when the channel’s Record button is disabled.
Important: The Level fader only controls the playback (or monitoring) level, not the
recording level, when a track is record enabled. Recording levels must be set
externally—on your mixer, or at the original sound source. Care must be taken when
setting input levels, as digital audio will clip when overloaded. Clipping results in a
particularly harsh, metallic distortion, so unless you have a penchant for heavier
musical styles, overloading the inputs isn’t recommended (see “Understanding the Clip
    Detector”
    Cheers

  • Nodes with Only One Lower-Level Node = Hide

    Hi everyone
    Have anyone present this situation:
Iu2019ve a quey to report inventory aging. It has two hierarchies to show data. In Rows I have Major Markets and in Columns a date hierarchy to show aging Ex: from 0 to 8 months, 9+ and 13+. Of course here I have also value and volume.
Query reports all values for all major markets fine. When I filter one major market, letu2019s say France also brings detailed figures but when I add any drill down in rows all values goes to cero (0).
Te estrange is that if you swap drill down order with major markets or drill down by columns with the same characteristic figures come out again as usual.
I know this sounds like a SAP note but I have not been able to find it either.
Thanks a lot for your help, and of course points will be assignedu2026..
Ps. Important, this happen when  option u201CNodes with Only One Lower-Level Node = Hideu201D (this is selected on purpose because there are some repeated nodes in major market hierarchy Ex. France u2013 France and if there is just one value under first node then means that only display of last one is necessary to avoid repeated values).

Solution we found is to remove flag "Do not display leaves for inner-nodes in the query", directly on the hierarchy.
    Thanks

  • Low audio volume in DVD SP

I've been experiencing low audio volume with burned DVDs in DVD SP 4.
The audio volume is fine in FCP, and also in the self-contained exported QT file.
But once imported into DVD SP and burned to a DVD, the volume is almost cut in half on multiple projects. The DVD's are short (< 30 minutes) so the audio is left as an AIFF file rather than converting it to an .ac3 with Compressor.
I don't see any way to control the volume in DVD SP.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard<br>
    G5 dual 2 gig   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   4.5 Gigs Ram

There's no way to control volume in DVDSP.
I had the same problem, but I had an ac3 file through Compressor. And there was this feature in it called "dialog normalization" that I had to turn off (setting it at -31dB), and my levels were good.
If you can't solve your problem with AIFF, maybe try ac3, and see if it suits you.

  • Condition - filter at lower level than displayed

I have the following requirement to display data in a query.  For the purpose of this example, the relevant characteristic are Plant and Delivery.  The KFs are Volume & Revenue.  I want to display by Plant the total volume and revenue without displaying delivery, but only where the total volume on the delivery is > 0.  If I look at the data at the delivery level I would see the following.
    Plant  Deliv    Vol   Rev
    A      1        100   50
    A      2        200   75
    A      3          0   25
When I run my query, I want to see the following.  Delivery 3 is ignored.
    Plant   Vol   Rev
    A       200   125
I've played with conditions but can't make it work.  any ideas?

Have you looked at using the precalculated value set or the resultset query?  This will run the lower level query and then filter on the higher level query by the lower level values.

  • Audigy 2 ZS + Vista 64bit resolves in very low maximum volume out

    Hi,
I did just install Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit Edition on my computer.
I've got a CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card, and I downloaded and installed the drivers for it.
I did not run into any complications while installing the driver, but after the driver was successfully installed and I rebooted my computer the first thing that hit me was the fact that the volume output was VERY LOW.
I have to boost my volume to the maximum to even be able to hear my music and games at a decent volume level. The maximum volume output seems to have been reduced with at least 50% compared to what I had with Windows XP Professional.
I've tried to configure every sound settings I can find, but without any luck.
The sound card is completely useless with this low maximum volume output, when I can barley hear my music or in-game sound.
    Is this a common problem?
    Have do I solve it's
I need at least 10% increase in the sound volume, otherwise the sound card is pointless.

Yes I did, I've checked everywhere I can possibly think of. Have boosted everything to the max, but still it's way to low

  • Disk Utility - Low Level Format??

Does anyone know which "Erase" option, if any, does a true low-level format of a hard drive? The kind which flags bad sectors and updates the drives bad sector table.
In the old days, before OS X, I used to use FWB "Hard Disk Toolkit" to format my drives to insure I didn't lose any data to new and unflagged bad sectors on a drive.
But Disk Utility doesn't seem to have an old-fashioned "format with verify" mode that will do what I want. At least not labeled in a manner which allows me to understand that it is going to do that.
Anyone have any inside knowledge on this subject?
    Thanks in advance.

None. You cannot low-level format an ATA drive. Low-level formatting is for SCSI drives. What you can do is zero the data on an ATA drive which will mark bad sectors if there are any.
    Do the following:
    1. Boot from your Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. If this is an external drive then you can use Disk Utility from your Utilities folder rather than booting from the DVD.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.

  • Is there a way to lower the volume on imported audio?

i've just finished the visuals for a movie i'm making for my family and would like to have some music playing under the visuals, some of which are movie clips and othersare photos. i'd like to be able to have the music lowered so that when the talking clips are on, you can hear the talking and not have it drowned out by the music underneath. is this possible?
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

J Keller is correct, but be sure that you have the 'show clip volume levels' selected so you can raise and lower the volume level at the point you wish to make those changes. The selection is under 'view' in the top menu bar. If you have any audio clips that have a bit of silence at the beginning, you might also wish to 'show audio wave forms' so that you can see exactly where the sound actually begins. The wave forms are only for audio tracks, but the volume levels can be adjusted within the video clips as well. This works out well if you need to raise the volume to hear the talking, as well as lowering the volume of the music.

  • How to low level format Mega Stick 256?

i suspect that my mega stick has a defective point in memory  because if i delete a song  and then put some news in the stick, the drive recognizes the title of the new one but plays the old one!!!! the one that was deleted
    example
i deleted  depeche mode - song
later i copied in  pantera - song
ehan i try to play pantera-song, it says that in the scrolling title on screen, but sounds depeche mode!!!!!!!!!
so now im trying to make a low level format in case something is screwed in my mega stick
By the way.........how much warranty gives MSI for mega sticks?

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I'm about to give up on it, although I will try the PowerMax software recommended by Michael Black.
And The hatter: Don't let this burn you on Neptune drives—one of my client offices has been using about 20 of them for the past couple of years now, on a daily basis, for large-scale imaging projects, and the little drives have been real champs. We're even using them to dual-boot both Intel- and PPC-based systems, and they've just been outstanding. Methinks the component failure probably cascaded down to the drive, and while yes, it *****, such things happen in any batch of components and I'd buy another Neptune today if I had the need for yet another external.
As for Matt Broughton: S.M.A.R.T. shows no problems when the drive is connected directly to the ATA bus. But then again, I've only run into a few drives that S.M.A.R.T. has ever reliably reported on—it's still a black art, to be sure. The WikiPedia article on S.M.A.R.T. goes into more detail about its pervasive flakiness.
For now, the drive has begun to beep about once every 2 seconds at boot. This lasts for about 30 seconds, after which the drive continues to spin but no further beeping is heard. The drive no longer shows up in Disk Utility, even as an unmounted drive/volume. So, I'll probably try it in a PC w/PowerMax just to say that I did, but beyond that, it's probably ready for disassembly as an example drive.

  • Very low sound volume on Portege R500

The sound volume on my R500 (R500-11c to be exact) is ridiculously low. Only with volume maxed out (100) and using headphones do I hear anything at all, and even then it's way too low to be useful. I can just make out the test sounds in the left and then right earphone when using the test sound found at Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers (there are no Headphones to be selected) -> Properties -> Advanced -> Test. Unplugging the headphones I hear nothing from the speakers, due to the (very low) sounds made by the fan and HDD. Playing music (with headphones) I can just make out that sounds are being produced, but I can't even make out what is playing.
I've tested the things mentioned in the "Satellite 5105-S901 Sound is very low (even on max volume) using supplied Toshiba driver" thread with no success (including Loudness Equalization).
I'm running Vista Business 32bit, and have tried the driver_audio_realtek26117B.exe, driver_audio_realtek_TC00157600B.exe, and Vista_Win7_R243_x86.exe driver files, and also used the util_mute_off_25847B.exe utility.
Enabling mute makes the already faint sounds go completely silent, so I don't think it's a mute issue.
Jack detection does work, I can see that in the Realtek HD Audio Manager program. Using that program's sound test (Speaker Configuration) I have to go to a completely silent room, and even then I only hear something in the right earphone. (I think; it's so darn low I could be imagining I hear it.)
Decreasing the sound volume slider from 100 does make the almost inaudible sound even harder to even notice, and at around 45 it is no longer audible even in a quiet room with headphones.
So it seems that I somehow need to reset the audio chip to "normal" level. Or it is broken and can't output anything more audible.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can try next? I can boot to XP or Linux if anyone has any ideas on how to get sound there, just to get started. (They're silent as well, I haven't done as extensive testing under those as under Vista.)

    Hello, and thanks for answering.
Yes, I have tried increasing the volume in control panel -> Realtek HD audio manager. No success.
I have used a bunch of different drivers, both from toshiba's website and realtek's.
Recently did a fresh XP install on another hard drive (don't have Vista install media), tried both 5.10.0.5869 and 5.10.0.6066 drivers (5.10.0.6066 is from march 13, 2010), sound still as low no matter what I do.
Did the really desperate thing: bought a new (used) sound module on ebay ("Toshiba Portege R500 (PPR50E-00L048EN) USB jack" on ebay.co.uk), but it has the same problem as the original one.
A hardware problem... well maybe, I was thinking perhaps the sound module doesn't get enough power from the motherboard, but since there is some sound (although very low), the USB jack on the module works, the headphone/mic jack detection works, and the diagnostics found in the Control Panel all say that the device is working OK, I don't think it's a hardware problem.
I'm guessing there is a problem with the drivers initializing the sound to a ridiculously low setting, and increasing the volume level to 100 makes it go up to a level equal to perhaps 2 in a regular system. That should be solved by a fresh install, but it isn't.
Perhaps the BIOS messes up the sound? But re-flashing the BIOS doesn't help...
    Anyone got any other ideas?
I've googled and found people having problems with low sound volume on other laptops using the ALC262 chip, but no general solution.

  • How to low-level format entire drive, including partition map?

    Hi everyone,
I have an OWC-supplied, 80 GB, ATA hard drive (OWC Neptune), which originally shipped in an external, FireWire 400 case. The drive stopped working; disassembly of the case led to the discovery of a burned trace on the Oxford bridge. While the bare drive itself has no manufacturer name, its label style and model number listed on the drive clearly show it to be a Maxtor 6Y080L0, 80 GB.
Having removed the drive and installed it into a test Power Mac G4, the physical drive is recognized by Disk Utility (albeit with no partitions, mounted or otherwise). The drive emits "normal" power and spin-up sounds, with no clicking or other sounds that might normally indicate a failed drive. However, Disk Utility is unable to actually partition the drive—when attempted, the "Creating Partition" progress bar advances to about 1/8 of the way across, then moves no further (even if many hours are allowed to pass). Console reveals nothing as to what is stopping the format.
Moving further, I attempted to blow away the partition map with pdisk, but encountered several read errors in the partition map itself. I even went so far as to attempt to "build" a partition map, one partition at a time, based on the settings I found on an identical drive that is functioning properly. Although this seemed semi-successful, attempting to write the partition table again resulted in a couple of errors.
pdisk: Unable to write block 8 (Input/output error)
pdisk: Unable to write block 9 (Input/output error)
pdisk: Unable to write block 10 (Input/output error)
pdisk: Unable to write block 11 (Input/output error)
While it's entirely possible that the blown component on the FireWire bridge might have also taken out the drive, I'm not a big believer in coincidence and my thought is that the trace blew during an access of the partition map, corrupting it to the point that only a low-level format of that portion of the drive can potentially salvage it. There is no data on the hard drive I am worried about losing, but I'm not one to easily say "die" and so I'd like to be able to restore this drive to functionality, if at all possible.
So after setting the table for you here, my questions are as follows:
    1. Is there any way to low-level format an entire drive that does not have a readable partition map? In essence, effectively returning the drive to something resembling an out-of-box, unformatted state? CLI is fine, and I'm even open to trying to throw the thing in a PC box, install Yellow Dog Linux so as to have GUI access to pdisk, etc.
    2. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me regarding this matter?
    Thanks much for the time,
