Low memory in diagnostics on iPad

In settings-about-diagnostics and usage, it says low memory. What do I need to do?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

  • Low memory warning on my iPad (3rd gen)

I'm receiving a low memory warning on my iPad (3rd generation), but I can't find the RAM info anywhere under the Settings.  I always close my apps using the Home button, so nothing should be open except the app I'm using.  How can I see the RAM available, and what can I do about the low memory warning?

You may have many apps open. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Low Memory Warning. . . with lots of memory left?

I keep getting a Low Memory Warning on my iPad and I have to click on OK. However, I have over 22GB left. Is this a known problem? What is the issue? Are my apps (games/videos) staying "open" even after I click the home button and if so how do I "close" them?

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions...
You can monitor "storage space" in the iTunes window.
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Select your iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window. Select the Summary tab.
You can see "Capacity" at the bottom of the iTunes window. If your iPad is telling you haven't enough space left try the suggestions here.

  • Several times over the last few days while on safari my iPad spontaneously shuts off screen goes dark then goes to home screen what's going on and how do I fix it when I look at settings diagnostics it says that there is low memory ?

Safari crashes several times while on pinterest, screen goes black then goes to home screen when I start safari again it keeps doing the same thing.  I checked the diagnostics page and there are several references stating low memory yet when I check the memory on the iPad there is plenty of memory  help please

The memory that is low is the processor memory, not the overall storage space.  Next time, before you go to that site, double tap the home button to see the task bar.  You will see the list of apps siting in the recently used list.  Most of them are not doing anything, but some of them are using up memory.  Touch and hold any one of them until they jiggle, then close them all off by touching the minus sign.
Do that every so often to help the pad use it's memory wisely.
Some apps, and browser pages use a lot of memory, and do not give it back easily, causing what sis happening to you.
You can also get a similar result by rebooting.  Press and hold the home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.

  • Low memory on iPad 2

The diagnostics of my iPad 2 says that my iPad has low memory.however I have 21.5 GB available. Please help. Thanks

I had this same issue with the new ipad, I kept getting logs generated that stated low memory.  I am not aware of any problems or issues this created, it was just sort of an informational warning not that there was anything wrong.  To “fix” it I just closed all the apps still in memory by double clicking the home button, holding your finger on one of the apps in the bottom window until they shake then hit the x to close them out of memory.

Clear Safari, close all apps on the iPad and reboot. Then see if you can connect.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to each app then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If you still can't connect to the internet, you need to do some more troubleshooting with the network connection, but report back with more details if that doesn't work and don't just repeat the question in the text box are that you have to describe the problem. That serves no purpose at all.

  • Low memory iPad 1

iPad 1 shows low memory and iTunes App crushes, also after reset.

    Hey there saint38,
I you are still getting this error message when opening links in the Safari app, I would next quit all the running apps on your device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes and then restore it as a new device and verify that it works.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.

  • IPad Air crashes with low memory error in Google Translate Web Site

My new iPad Air crashes with low memory error every time I try to use my Phrasebook in Google Translate Web site. This is rather disapointing considering that my old Nexus 10, that iPad Air is supposed to replace, works flawlessly in Google Translate Web site. Perhaps this has to do with the rather limited RAM (1GB) that iPad Air is equippoed with.
I would appreciate any recommendation, Thanks in advance.

  • TS1702 iPad 1 applications crash for low memory.  All apps are doing this.  Any solution?

Ever since the last update of IOS from Apple, all applications on iPad 1 are crashing for low memory.  I have done everything that Apple has indicated (make sure nothing in running in background, turn off iCloud, reset and reloaded iPad like new) and nothing seems to help.  Even went into the Apple store and the Genius said that there was nothing short of resetting the unit to "New".  That did not help.
I know there are tons of complaints out there but has anyone found a way around this?

So what do you want us to do about your complaint assuming it is true?

  • Why does my ipad close apps because of low memory?

    Low memory trouble shooting..

You are answering your own question actually. If you want to, you can close apps in the recents tray - and while the overwhelming majority of those apps are not actually running, there could be an app that is doing something that could be causing a problem. Close all of your apps and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You should not have to do this on a regular basis, but try it and see if it helps at all. Then keep an eye on what apps are running when you get the low memory warning and sse if there is maybe a setting or a file associated with that app that you can change - or delete and then see if that helps even more.

  • IPad mini low memory report - what can I do to stop apps crashing

The iPad worked well, but friend started playing Nemos reef,, no problem to level 20 now the Disney app is crashing all the time and occasionally Facebook and Safari crash. There is low memory reports but I do not know how to improve that. I did delete some apps but didn't help. Disney no help because I am in UK although they were happy to take money for in-app purchases!

    Do two things:
    1.  In Settings > iTunes & App Stores, turn off automatic downloads for Apps.
    2.  Assuming you sync using iTunes, turn off the automatic app syncing on the App tab when you have the iPads connected that should not receive the downloads.

  • Low memory on iPad

After using Google Earth for a bit I get a Low Memory warning. It presumably means RAM. Under Settings - Usage this is called a crash. What do I do about this? Can I free up RAM memory? Thanks.

Plug it in to iTunes and see what it says.  "Other" is probably large but should be less then 2GB.  If larger, restore with your backup.  If still too large, restore as new, i.e. without your backup.

  • IOS 5 - iPad 2 - Low memory recurrent problem

    Hello,
Yesterday, I came from the Apple Store with a new ipad 2 because they told me that the first one had a memory problem. Well, I believe them, but today all My ipad 2 apps crashe and in the problem list  I have always the same problem (one for each app):
    Free pages: 1412
    Wired pages: 96131
    Purgeable pages: 763
    Largest process: AppStore
Thinking aboyt it, I guess that is due to some apps use a large amount of memory (RAM, because my ipad has more that 10Gb free) and even when all the apps are closed the ipad can not release the memory for other apps.
This is really annoying, and i don't know if there are more users experiencing this problem.
    Thanks in advice,
    Jesus.
Sorry if my english isnt good enough.

Vincent. Perhaps do a hard restore back to the factory settings? At that point, I would not do the upgrade to 4.3.1. I'd leave it how it was shipped. There have been a number of problems reported with the upgrade (and lots of success)by many here. It sounds like yours might be one of the problems. I don't how much you have on your iPad? However, the other problem could be that one of the applications you have is corrupt with 4.3.1. In other words, perhaps the Twitter app or Tapatalk doesn't play nice anymore even when closed. Of course it could also be another app but if you have lots on their, it could be hard to diagnose. That's my guess.
So if it were me, I'd do a restore and wipe it back to box condition. I would not do a restore from a previous backup/save. That most likely will just put the problem back onto the iPad. I would do a manual load of the iPad of the stuff you want on it, apps, music, movies like the computer and iPad have never been synced prior. Yes, it takes time but it should allow you to use it properly without the crashes. Then I'd wait to see what fix comes out for the 4.3.1 issues that some are having. The 4.3.1 really doesn't add that much at this time anyway so waiting won't hurt. I haven't upgraded and Im glad I haven't at this point. Not worth the risk to find out that mine gets screwed up too.
    Best of luck.

  • Low memory crash

I have very few applications on my 1st gen iPad, as I use it mostly for web browsing. However more and more it is crashing when using Safari or a game like Angry Birds. The diagnostics indicate a "low memory" crash. I have seen many forums including the Apple forum with this problem and it has never been addressed adequately by Apple.  There are a lot of user attempts but none of them work consistently. Is my iPad now an expensive paperweight after only 3 years?

    Try this:
    1. Close all inactive apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.
