Low memory warning with Web Cam

I've just installed a Web Cam pro on my wife's Sony laptop. The Creative Can Centre works OK and we can see the image but soon after the program starts a message comes up low memory. The lap top is running Vista. How to resolve this?

Hi i am using Windows 7, with webcam live! VF-0050 i manage to install the drivers, but when i load webcam center or msn it's just give me a blank screen with error low memory warning! How to solve the black screen and the low memory warning.

Low Memory Warning. . . with lots of memory left?

I keep getting a Low Memory Warning on my iPad and I have to click on OK. However, I have over 22GB left. Is this a known problem? What is the issue? Are my apps (games/videos) staying "open" even after I click the home button and if so how do I "close" them?

You can monitor "storage space" in the iTunes window.
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Select your iPad under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window. Select the Summary tab.
You can see "Capacity" at the bottom of the iTunes window. If your iPad is telling you haven't enough space left try the suggestions here.

"Low Memory Warning" and "fails to create a virtual machine"

From ide.conf, I learnt:
If you are getting the 'Low Memory Warning' Message Dialog while running JDeveloper, please increase the -Xmx value below from the default 768M to something greater, like 1024M or 1250M. If after increasing the value, JDeveloper is no longer starting up because it fails to create a virtual machine, then please reduce the modified -Xmx value.
However,
If I set it to a bigger value, say 512M, it fails to create a virtual machine.
If I set it to a smaller value, say 400M, it throws Low Memory Warning after a short while.
So I do not know how to do. Total physical memory of my box is 4G. Free physical user memory after starting jdev is 1.5G.

512M isn't bigger, the default (according to your reading) is 768M...
I just tried with JDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0 (64-bit machine, but using 32-bit JVM) - works fine with 1024M - just to confirm that my changes are working, 5024M does give me "unable to create virtual machine"
Have you messed about with other settings?

Low memory warning on my iPad (3rd gen)

I'm receiving a low memory warning on my iPad (3rd generation), but I can't find the RAM info anywhere under the Settings. I always close my apps using the Home button, so nothing should be open except the app I'm using. How can I see the RAM available, and what can I do about the low memory warning?

You may have many apps open. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Low Memory Warning

I started a new app today and got the following message:
Low Memory Warning
Air Harp has detected your device is
low on memory. If a problem occurs
please restart your device.
No problem occurred. I think Stanza may have been using memory - I really don't know how to tell what's using memory.
How do I tell what needs to be shut down?

Looks to me as though you don't enough enough physical RAM to run as many processes as you currently are. 2GB of RAM is pretty low these days. Do me a favor and -- click Start -- Type
MSconfig in the search bar and press enter -- Click the
startup tab and see how many programs are checked to start on bootup. You can uncheck ones that you don't need running all the time. That should free up some memory to keep you going for a bit. But a permanent fix would be to increase your
physical RAM.
EDIT: Switching to basic desktop will reduce the amount of RAM needed to run Windows, which is why you haven't gotten the problem since.

Any other choices for communication with web cam

I have wrote a JMF program that takes the images from webcam. However, it really depends on lighting. When lighting is not enough, my whole application hangs. In fact, I have installed the software provided together with my webcam, it works pretty good nomatter how dark it is. Therefore, I really hope you guys can share some experiences to me, or are there any choices, such as, C, C++, etc, that allows me to capture the images from webcam continously. I am tired about java JMF. Thx a lot.

To communicate with web cam, you can avoid JMF using the JavaTwain package http://www.gnome.sk
This package enables you to connect to your camera or scanner directly from a java application.
If you just want to see how Java Twain works with your scanner or camera:
- java (1.2 or higher for Windows, 1.3 or higher for Mac OS X) has to be installed on your computer
- a scanner or camera has to be installed on your computer
- download the trial package from http://www.gnome.sk
- unzipp it
- go to the examples directory of the unzipped package
- in Windows: doubleclick the runExampleShow.bat
- in MacOS:
- open the Terminal window
- change the working directory to the examples
- run .sh file (type ExampleShow.sh or sh ExampleShow.sh)
This will pop up the Twain Source Selection user interface. There, all your scanners and cameras which do have a twain driver should be listed. (About 90% of scanners and cameras on the market do have a twain driver for Windows, only a few do have a twain driver for MacOS.) Select one of them. The user interface of the selected scanner (camera) will appear. Confirm the scanning (you can set the scanning parameters first). The scanned image will be displayed in a separate window. To end the application, close that window.
Running different examples, you can test scanning with hidden UI, saving the scanned image, using ADF, ...

Zen Micro Photo Low Battery Warning With Fully Charged Batt

I have two of these players and both batteries work fine and indicate fully charged in one of the players. Neither battery works in the other player. No power at all with either of them. If I connect the player to a computer all I get is the creative splash screen followed by the Low Battery Warning with the yeild sign, nothing else. If I turn the player off then it reverts to no power at all. What is going on, anybody know?

I do not know Adobe's policy on discs, for the download version, but they do offer "replacement" discs, for the boxed version for a nominal fee. This, however, is usually for the latest version of each of their programs. Do not know if they offer this service to older programs.
I'd follow Steve's advice, but please report back with what you find out. I've always bought a boxed version, whether a new or an upgraded program, so I'm no expert on what Adobe offers.

Does anyone know of any other client besides Gyach Enhanced that allows web-cam viewing using Yahoo Messenger? I am unable to compile Gyach Enhanced and I have not found another client that supports this. If you have been able to compile Gyach Enhanced on Arch could you please provide me the details? Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GTKHTML_CFLAGS
and GTKHTML_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.

I have libgtkhtml-2.6.3-2 and it seems to be located in /opt/gnome/include/gtkhtml-2.0/libgtkhtml . Does anyone have any suggestions on getting this to compile or how to edit the PKG_CONFIG_PATH ? I attempted GTKHTML_LIBS=/opt/gnome/include/gtkhtml-2.0/libgtkhtml but I still receive the same error.

Very low on system memory warning with plenty of memory left

Hi,
I am using Premiere Elements 7 on Windows XP, AMD 3GHz dual core with 4GB memory. I create DVDs based on AVCHD files from a Canon HF100, almost no editing, 1 hour of DVD content (8 GB worth of AVCHD files) . I have done this with the same configuration in the past without problems, but lately Premiere has been very unstable, either crashing outright or giving me the following warning:
Adobe Premiere Elements is running very low on system memory. Please save your project and proceed with caution.
When I try to burn a DVD, this warning is always shows within minutes, followed by a transcoding error. I tried everything to free up more space, nothing else significant is running on my machine, and I have exited most other background processes. When the above warning is shown, physical memory consumption is is reported as following:
Commit Charge: 1.8 GB
Premiere Elements process: 1.1 GB
Free memory: 1.5 GB
I also have virtual memory set to 8GB. Premiere scratch directories are on a disk with 500GB free space. I uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere, but no improvement.
Other relevant software on my machine, some of it installed after I had my last successful DVD burn:
Norton 360 2010 (Disabled Firewall and Autoprotect)
Adobe Web Premium CS3
Adobe Lightroom 2.5
Copernic Desktop Search (Disabled)
A number of free video tools, like HandBrake, AutoGK, AVISynth, VobSub, DVD Decrypter, Xvid
Tivo Desktop (Disabled)
iTunes (Disabled)
Could there be any side effect from the other software? Any potential hardware problems I should investigate? Everything else works perfectly, including the other Adobe products.
I very much appreciate your help, Premiere is unusable at the moment and I have some DVDs I desperately want to create.

Have you rendered your timeline?
If you're sceneline mode, switch to timeline mode. Is there a red line above your clips? If so, press Enter and let the program render your timeline (the red line will turn green).
This should greatly improve your program's stability and performance.
Also, ensure that the disc where you are storing your video files is formatted NTFS and not FAT32 (as they are when they come from the factory). FAT32 drives have a file size limit that can choke video work.
And, if this 500 gig drive is not your C drive, ensure that your C drive also has at least 30-50 gigs of free space, freshly defragmented and with its temp files regularly cleared.
