Low on memory, clear application data

For a while now, I get a notification saying that I'm running low on memory (my cache has already been cleared for every app by the way.) At first I thought I had too many apps on my phone so I deleted a few I didn't really use & the notification went away.
However, the notification has kept popping up, closer & closer together. I'm down to only having all the apps I absolutely use every day, & it still is giving me this low memory notification. I'm really fed up with it now, as this has been going on for a month, & I need a solution before I chunk my phone against the wall.
Somethings I thought yall may need to know to fix the problems are: my facebook app was taking up 54MB, so I uninstalled & dowloaded the facebook for htc app; I use the Auto Memory Manager app to take care of my data, it is set on the aggressive mode; I text A LOT, I had my phone set to delete converations after they reach 200, but it hasnt been deleting automatically; I have two applications on my SD card, should I move some additional apps to the card to take care of the problem; lastly, on my running services, it says "Avail: 104MB + 158MB in 32," I'm guessing this means I have that much memory available so I want to know what the problem is.
After I uninstalled & downloaded facebook, the notification disappeared, but I know this problem will most likely happen again so I would like to know how to fix it for good.
Thanks for the help

I have this problem, "lately" many many times. First I downloaded the "Cache Cleaner" app and use that. Then I delete my text messages. That seems to work ONLY if I happen to have  a picture on there that I downloaded to a friend. Then last, I go to settings, applications, manage applications, and go thru them and put what I can on the SD card. That seems to work. Its been about 3 days clean for me! lol

  • Any way to clear application data in b2g/Firefox OS?

    Is there any way to clear application data without uninstalling the whole app?
    Say an app signs someone into Google, there is no way to clear that account data without directing them to a Google logout page. It would be nice to just be able to clear all the login/cookie data that gets stored in the app. This is useful with OAuth - the tokens can be cleared but the Google account can't be logged off (easily).

    There doesn't seen to be a way to clear data at this moment for apps, you can have a look into app permissions or try deleting the app and reinstalling.

  • How to Clear Application Data on Macbook Pro?

    When I checked how much storage space I have on my mac, it shows that I have 99.3 GB of Applications. I checked the few applications I have in my Applications folder, and I'm positive it doesn't add up to 99 GB. How do i clear up this excess data?

    First you have to identify what that data is.  I suggest downloading from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free).  it will show all of your files and the respective sizes.  Delete or transfer files you feel you no longer need.

  • Maxl to clear partial data in ASO applications

    Hi ,
    Is there a maxl statement to clear partial data from ASO applications?
    Thanks
    Kannan.

    Hi,
    Another solution, close to what garycris suggested, is to create a report script to export the subset of data you want to delete to a text file. Then load this text file using a load rule that replaces your data column by a missing column.
    You can then call the report script and the load rule using a calc script.
    Problem is you need to also have a BSO database to do that. If it's the case then your good.
    If not, you can probably do that from a maxl script.
    Good practice would be to have a CLRASO load rule for all you clear process, and then make sure that your different clear report script fit its format. You end up with n clear report scripts, n clear calc scripts or maxl scripts, and 1 clear load rule.

  • I HAD MY MACBOOK MEMORY CLEARED AND CANNOT UPLOAD MY IPHOTO ANYMORE

    I recently had my macbook memory cleared and reset to all default settings. I was advised to back up all my personal documents and data as everything will be cleared. However, due to some technical issue (and one of the reason for memory wipe) i had to manually backup important documents, which were my itune, iphoto, and uni assignments.
    After i my macbook had been wiped and returned to default settigns i began to reinstalled the documents i had backed up on my external hard drive. However, when i came to open iphoto it was saying i had to download it from the app store?? when i looked on the app store it was asking for me to buy iphotos for over £10 !! i was not aware i would have to buy this feature as i never originally bought the feature when i first got my macbook. without downloading iphoto i cannot access my photos which was the main thing i wanted to save as these are personal memories of me and my children.
    Can anyone help me with this issue as i do not feel i should buy iphoto just so i can recover my own photographs, i have already paid for the memory wipe as it was strongly advised by the technician, who also helped me back up my documents in the store (which took 4 hours). I am correct in thinking that iphoto originally came as standard on my macbook when i bought it in 2009 or will i be required to purchase this and download it again??

    Your post says you have a late 2009 MacBook with OS X 10.6.8. With the MacBook, you received 2 gray-faced OS X disks, one with the system programs and one with application programs. The application program disk will have iPhoto on it, so you would re-install it from there. See this Apple note on how to reinstall iPhoto.

  • Low system memory issue - caused by Mail?

    While I was at work, my wife was using our iMac at home, and she said that a weird error dialog appeared this afternoon that asked her to quit applications, following which the system became unresponsive.
    When I came home I found that a lot of running applications were in a hung state (unresponsive and required a Force Quit) so I rebooted the iMac.
    I looked in the Console and saw that at 15:39:37 today two errors started repeating at an enormous rate - something like 5000 times per second for the next 5 seconds:
      12/02/2015 15:39:36.373 Mail[226]: *** Assertion failure in -[MCSocket readBytes:maxLength:error:], /SourceCache/Mail/Mail-2070.6/MailCore/Networking/MCSocket.m:469
      12/02/2015 15:39:36.381 Mail[226]: exception parsing IMAP response: trying to read/write concurrently
    ...then at 15:39:42 the rate suddenly decreases to only about 10 errors per second. This continued for a further 15 minutes, until at 15:55:22:
      12/02/2015 15:55:22.000 kernel[0]: low swap: suspending pid 226 (Mail)
      12/02/2015 15:55:22.590 loginwindow[797]: -[ProcessPanel(lowMem) initAsLoMemPanel] | Lo-Memory panel initializing
    ...then lots of errors like this:
      12/02/2015 15:55:23.000 kernel[0]: memorystatus_thread: idle exiting pid 999 [com.apple.MailSe]
      12/02/2015 15:55:24.000 kernel[0]: memorystatus_thread: idle exiting pid 1000 [com.apple.InputM]
      12/02/2015 15:55:25.000 kernel[0]: memorystatus_thread: idle exiting pid 269 [com.apple.intern]
    So it looks to me like the Mail app went haywire, the Mac ran low on memory, so OS X made some kind of "Lo-Memory panel" appear to handle it.
    A quick search in Google Images revealed that there is such a thing as an OS X low memory error - the exact text of which is "Your system has run out of application memory. To avoid problems with your computer, quit any applications you are not using". It displays a list of running apps so you can quit them. The error looks something like this:
        http://i.imgur.com/HDplIwv.jpg
    When I showed this picture to my wife she said that is exactly what she saw.
    I will report this to Apple on their feedback page. If anyone has any other suggestions let me know. Obviously something that can bring down the entire system like this is not good.

    There is excessive swapping of data between physical memory (that is, the memory chips on the logic board) and virtual memory (one or more files on the startup volume.) That activity is relatively slow and causes the whole system to be less responsive. It can happen for two reasons:
              A long-running process with a memory leak (a kind of bug)
              Not enough memory for your usage pattern
    Please note that if the cause is a memory leak, installing more memory will not help. That's likely if you already have more than 4 GB of memory. Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
    These instructions are for OS X 10.9 and later. Some details may be slightly different for earlier versions of OS X.
    When you notice the swap activity, open the Activity Monitor application and select All Processes from the View menu, if it's not already selected. Select the Memory tab. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
              View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
    If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
    The processes named "Safari Web Content" render web pages for Safari. They use a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider them prime suspects.
    Another process often implicated in memory leaks is "inkjet4" or "inkjet8," which is a component of the HP printing software. If it's present, force-quit the process in Activity Monitor to solve the problem temporarily. Empty the print queues in the Printers & Scanners preference pane (which has a slightly different name in each recent version of OS X.) If you don't use an HP printer, reset the printing system. Otherwise, if the problem is recurrent, update the software (which may not help) or contact HP support.
    "Wired" memory should be a small part of the total. That memory is not swapped, but it makes less physical memory available which may then result in swapping. If you have a lot of wired memory, that's usually an indication of a memory leak in a third-party program that modifies the operating system at a low level. Ask for guidance in that case.
    If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
    The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
    sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
    where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.

  • Low on Memory?

    The help section says to view the amount of memory available for application data or for storing files on a media card, in the device options, click Memory. I don't have "Memory" as an option. When I open Blackberry App World and go to "My World", in the upper right hand corner, it currently shows 9.1 MB free. Is this available memory? It has gone as low as 1.5 MB and is never over 10 MB.  I'm told that 10 MB of memory is critically low.  Does anyone know how to check available memory on an 8820? and what frees up memory? I have only a few saved emails and no saved SMS. Thanks for any help.

    First thing? Check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free?
    Now, leaving the device powered ON, remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot.
    What is the File Free now?

  • Computer is low on memory even though I have 100GB available

    Trying to use my programs like Adobe Bridge keeps crashing and saying I'm low on memory even tough I have 90-100GB of free space. All other programs are closed and I tried clearing the memory in the system terminal program. Any ideas on what's going on!? - Also I have added lots of memory maxing the slots out at 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3

    The Adobe error is spurious since you obviously have an abundant amount of memory available.
    It is possible that Adobe is unable to write to its cache file, a location on your Mac for Adobe to store data such as thumbnail and preview images, and Adobe Bridge is erroneously reporting that inability as insufficient memory.
    You should really solicit Adobe's help for this problem, but if you are willing to continue pursuing it here consider the following:
    Open Disk Utility - it's in your Mac's Utilities folder. In the column on the left, locate your Mac's startup volume. It is an icon located below the uppermost icon and is usually named "Macintosh HD". Select it and click the Repair Disk Permissions button. It will take a few moments to complete. Many "Permissions differ... " and "Repaired... " messages will appear, perhaps hundreds of them. They are not important, but if any errors appear please describe them.
    When Disk Utility finishes with the message Permissions repair complete, quit Disk Utility and determine if Adobe Bridge continues to report the low memory condition.

  • Dreamweaver "low on memory" error (yes, again)

    Hi all,
    I'd like to re-open discussion on a problem that's been
    highlighted on these forums a couple of times already:
    Here...
    ...and
    here...
    ...and
    here.
    ...but as yet, no solution.
    I have a new Dell Inspiron 9400 E1705 with 2GB of RAM running
    Dreamweaver v8.0.2 that throws the error "Your system is low on
    memory" (as shown in those other posts) when clearly I have a stack
    of free memory.
    I can make this error occur even when I'm running no other
    apps. No other application gives me memory errors, including
    Fireworks when it's stacked to the gills with big PNGs. Just
    Dreamweaver, and, it seems, almost always when working on CSS
    documents.
    The other threads have been relatively exhaustive on what's
    occurring, so I need not repeat much of it, but this error message
    is annoying the hell out of me. After reading the other posts, I'm
    fairly convinced this is a Dreamweaver bug.
    What do you think?
    I'd like not to get the standard plethora of "IS YOUR VIRUS
    SOFTWARE DOING REALTIME PROTECTION" and "HAVE YOU GOT LOTS OF OTHER
    THINGS OPEN" etc -- I've been using Dreamweaver for years and years
    and I'm not a n00b, so I wouldn't be posting here if I didn't think
    this was something bigger than just my PC.
    I suspect, from reading the other threads, that there might
    be a problem related to working on CSS files (particularly large
    ones) combined with perhaps 2GB of RAM (because this .problem never
    happened on my much lower-specced previous machine).
    Would love to hear your thoughts, preferably constructive,
    though humorous wouldn't go astray... ;-)
    Cheers!

    No answers but same problem... DW8, Dell Dimension 3100 with
    2GB ram. I get
    the same error, but my css files are not particularly long
    nor my pages
    large. Error usually seems to occur when uploading files.
    Check of task
    manager shows plenty of ram available.
    Does not occur on my Compaq laptop with 1MB RAM running
    MX2004, same sites.

  • Callback if low on memory

    Hello,
    I am developing an application which caches quite a lot
    of data in memory. I would like to have a callback method
    that is called if the machine is low on memory. In this
    method I could then deltete references to the cached
    objects and run the garbage collector. I think this might
    be a rather common idea and I would like to know if java
    offers some method to register such a callback method.
    I looked in the System and the Runtime classes but didn't
    find anything.

  • Web Application - Data caching of enterprise data

    Sorry in advance if this is off-topic but I can't find anywhere else to post this type of question.
    I am looking for information/suggestions such as books, technology or design methodology for my enterprise web applications. These sites are currently up and functional using only JSP, servlets and regular Java classes stored in a web application session to provide data caching and access. We are using Weblogic Server 6.1 running on an AIX Unix system at this time. I'm not sure that this is the best design architecture as our web sessions are getting too large but I can't think of any other Java technology to use and I need some help. Here's an overview of our environment and our needs.
    Our core data is held in a mainframe based IMS system. Some DB2 is also used. Access to this data is through IMS COBOL transactions which we can execute with IMS Connect. We also use some JDBC to get to the DB2 tables directly where available.
    Some overall application data is cached when the web application is deployed. We use singleton classes which are created and refreshed at deployment and they then refresh themselves from the sources every 24 hours.
    Each time a user logs in we execute several IMS transactions and JDBC calls to cache user specific data in regular Java classes which are then simply placed in the users web session where we access them from JSP, servlets and other Java classes. The fields in these Java classes range from any type of primitive field to TreeMaps of other Java classes. As the data is cached it is sorted and other fields are calculated and stored in these classes. As the user progresses through the system we then may have to do several other IMS transaction and JDBC calls to collect other types of data. All of this is then also added to the users session. Most of this in inquiry. We do allow transactions but those are built from user input and data already cached and are then we just execute the IMS transactions with the input.
    As our application has grown these Java classes have gotten larger and larger. And since these are simply stored in server memory in the web sessions then these are also getting huge. I'm concerned that this is not the best way for this application to be architected. Is there something else we should be doign? I simply don't understand how Entity Java Beans could be used but then again I don't know much about them. I wouldn't think that caching the data to a local database and accessing it from there would be any more efficient and would probably just slow down the system from all the I/O.
    Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

    The best book you can buy is 'Professional Java Server Programming, j2ee edition' by Wrox. It is by far the best reference I've used. Another quick reference consideration might be the j2ee book provided by codenotes... its quick and to the point.

  • How do I get my application data back after OS upgrade?

    First I tried to update to iOS 5.1.1 by downloading the .ipsw file from Apple and shift-clicking the Update button. I got Unknown Error 3014, which apparently is a known error and is to do with contacting the Apple server. So I tried again, and this time the iPad got stuck in the "Connected to iTunes" screen, and I searched online and found that the only real way out of this is to do a Factory Restore to iOS 6. Oh well, I would have to put up with the new Maps app but that isn't too bad.
    So I did that, then I selected to restore"Phil's iPad" onto it, but my machine ran out of disk space. I cleared up some space, and got it to restore again, but I think that what happened in between was that it automatically backed up and synced the new half-restored state to my PC. So when I came to restore it, it only restored half of it. Since I had iTunes set up to sync every time I connect, the system that keeps the most recent three backups had deleted all the backups that were of any use and all I ended up with are three backup states that are all missing my application data. All my game progress is now gone, all my photos and home videos, all contacts, notes, all gone and I think gone for ever.
    Any idea whether it's possible to get all my stuff back?

    All apps and media should be in iTunes on your computer, if you've failed to transfer purchases from the device to iTunes it is possible to download past purchases.
    Downloading past purchases from iTunes
    Contacts and calendars are in whatever application on the computer or cloud service you have configured them to sync with.
    Pictures and videos taken with the device are designed to be copied off to the computer regularly.
    Frankly, it is not very smart to rely on a device that can be so easily lost, stolen, or damaged as sole storage of your imporant data, I'd dare say it is boarding on completely moronic.

  • Clearing the data buffer from the input fields

    Hi,
    I am using an user exit CONFPP02 for the Tcode: co11n. I have written a program such that the confirmation numbers having the status CNF will not be allowed to be processed. The whole confirmation is terminated when the system checks the confirmation number and its status as CNF. If the status of the confirmation number is PCNF, the program allows the further processing of the Tcode Co11n.
    The problem starts when the user enters the PCNF status confirmation number and enters, the system stores the values in the various input fields. Now without exiting the initial confirmation screen, if the user replaces the Confirmation number of the PCNF status to the Confirmation number of the CNF status , the system issues a warning message:"  Confirmation no. or order/sequence/operation has been changed
    However, the input fields still contain default values from thepreceding confirmation". if the user says yes, the program written is bypassed , thus allowing the reconfirmation of the CNF confirmation number  into PCNF confirmation number .
    Can anybody suggest a suitable method to clear the data stored defultly in the input fields so that the program can be made to work.

    Hi Gilad,
    I never use Preview and did not use Preview at all before sending the document over to my most recent client either.
    I only opened Preview up this morning after I discovered that all of the form data had disappeared on his end! And the only reason I opened up Preview was because I already knew it looked fine in Acrobat so wanted so wanted to view the form in a different application.
    My client would not even have notified me about it had he not sent the signed form back to me and I saw there was no data there! I then called him and asked him about the missing data and he said that he thought I had simply sent over the form purposely with blank fields:(
    I have just emailed him to ask him what application he opened it up in. My understanding is that he is on Windows because ne mentioned to me his company was using Windows when we last spoke. Perhaps he has a personal Macbook where he opened it? I just don't know and can hopefully soon find out:)
    But THANK YOU for letting me know about that script! I appreciate it:) I have now downloaded and installed it and will just have to use it on ALL of my forms before sending them out:)

  • Files stored in application data cache

    Recently my weekly virus scans have taken longer and longer. The number of files scanned increased by tens of thousands every week. A carefully crafted search shows that files in the directory C:/Documents and Settings/userxxx/application data/Mozilla/Profiles/....../Cache/ is the probable source of all the now hundreds of thousands of files that my virus scan is encountering. Does anyone know which Mozilla application these files are being created by? Are they important or just temporary 'work' files?

    The firefox cache may be cleared and should not have any ill effects, although some websites may then take longer to load. If you decide to clear the cache, or part of it see:
    * [[how to clear the cache]]
    You can obtain some info about what is stored in the various firefox caches by entering into the location bar ''about:cache'' the results are not very user friendly (unless you get hold of a suitable cache viewer add-on) but it should help you work-out what is accumulating and how big these are.
    Having a firefox cache increasing by tens of thousands of files every week sounds rather unusual to say the least, and I may begin to think about trying to check whether malware is the cause.

    and login, am getting the previous state before i logout. How to
    solve this problem? please help me out.

    I'd start with the "loginResultHandler" function and use it
    to direct the user to a specific component within a ViewStack
    whenever they login or log back in.
    For example:
    [Bindable]
    private var currentUser:User = new User();
    private var currentFunction:Function;
    private function loginResultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void {
    currentUser = event.result as User;
    if (currentUser.loggedIn)
    if (currentUser.roles == "admin")
    Application.application.myViewStack.selectedIndex=0;
    else
    Application.application.myViewStack.selectedIndex=1;
    loginForm.visible=false;
    currentFunction.call();
    else
    Alert.show("Login unsuccessful", "Server Authentication");
    This may or may not be the answer you are looking for but it
    should get you going in the right direction. Check out some of the
    great Flex tutorials at Lynda.com (

    Good luck!
